well, i would want the update 2, not the 10

The update you search for in reality is called "Windows 8.1 August Update" and can't no longer get downloaded from Microsoft: links are dead.

[Q] Windows Phone 7 Updates

Hi everybody,
I just got a Dell Venue Pro with Windows Phone 7. I saw a post about a possible update to Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango?), however it seems that the latest software versions are 7.0.XXXX.XX. Were there 7.1-7.4 updates that were missed?
Note: I have browsed XDA for information regarding my mobile devices and just registered.
Thanks for help! Sorry for any ignorance, I am new to smartphones.
All current MS phones will have Mango deployed on them.
All current devices will get the Mango update. The 7.5 designation is mostly to visualize the large leap from what is considered 7.0 (everything prior to Mango), and the Mango update. Its a pretty massive update, so they want to make the name show that, just as the next big one after that will most likely be Windows Phone OS version 8.
Current versions are 7.0.7390.0 (NoDo updtae) and 7.0.7392.0 (with latest security update still being deployed)
Isn't Mango 7.1 ?

Nokia Lumia 800 / 900 vs. Windows Phone 8

Hey there,
I plan to buy a Nokia Windows Phone (Lumia 800 or 900) in early 2012. Is there any information what will happen when Microsoft releases Windows Phone 8? Will Nokia upgrade the "old" Lumia Phones?
There is no information yet about current devices' compatibility, but it does not make sense to leave them out. It should support Apollo.
Windows Phone "8" is just the update version. 8 = Apollo. Just like 7.5 is Mango and so forth. Its still Windows Phone and all Windows Phones should support every update.
I guess it will be available via Zune as Mango.
> Will Nokia upgrade the "old" Lumia Phones?
1)
Nokia has no role to play in regards to basic OS updates. This is very different from Android. Microsoft is the only company with the power to decide which devices get which updates. So far, every device has received every OS update. Carriers have the power to delay the distribution of OS updates to devices on their network, but even they can't delay an update indefinitely.
2)
As others have mentioned, we don't have an official statement from Microsoft on this topic. To me, this indicates that WP7 generation hardware will not be getting WP8. I suspect Microsoft would have said so by now if the opposite were true.

That's if Microsoft have even decided yet! I imagine they're keeping quiet - remember the HTC HD2?

help needed: nokia drive on HTC 7 Pro? How to unlock the HTC 7 Pro?

I "re-animated" my HTC 7 Pro by replacing the digitizer and upgrading the internal memory.
It worked and the phone is just great with its keyboard.
After my HTC 7 Pro broke some months ago, I bought a Lumia 800. Great phone but I miss the keyboard, that's why I tried now to repair the old HTC 7 Pro.
What I really like with my Lumia is the NOKIA drive - just perfect, but the phone has only a poor battery life when doing the traffic navigation.
The HTC 7 Pro has a better battery, that's why I would like to use if for traffic navigation.
Is there any way to install NOKIA drive on a HTC 7 Pro?
It is a standard (Swiss) HTC 7 Pro, unlocked (all sim cards work) and it has all HTC updates.
Do I need to root the phone? How does this work?
I would like to keep the operating system like it is (it works great) - thus, is there any chance to convince the phone to install the NOKIA drive app?
I am a nweby with all this flashing/rooting/... stuff. Any information, background knowledge, guide (for the HTC 7 Pro) would be really great!
Thank you in advance!
Best,
Peter
Using dev-unlock, you could install the Nokia Marketplace XAP (see my signature) but the Nokia Drive app, although you could install it, would refuse to run on your non-Nokia phone. With full-unlock (i.e. custom ROM) you could either trick it into running (I don't know if this is safe, but it's possible) or install a modified version of the app (which is technically illegal in much of the world but pretty common), though.

i dont get it, it must be because i m a newb. i read news saying nokia drive is now opened to other windows phone 7. i just downloaded the nokia drive 3.0.0.0.xap (although no idea yet what to do with it .
i also read that availability on windows phone will depend on phone maker decision.
could you please be more specific about "tricking it into running", or how to get and obtain a modified version of the app?
i m very surprised that i did not find more threads about installing this very good app on our pro 7

Hello I have a Nokia Lumia 620, and tried to install a game called Lets Golf 2 version 1.3.0.0 by the method developer what happens is that when you finished installing and everything, I'll play the game and simply service begins is black screen and comes back, I've tried everything and I can not solve the problem, does anyone know help me with this problem is the same and I realized that the site does not have a straight section for Lumia 620, 720 and 520, could create it has many Brazilians who have these devices and do not stir it has sites with accurate information ....
There is one more thing already has news of some jailbreak for Windows Phone 8, especially the line of Nokia Lumia?
Thank you for your attention
i personally have installed it and everything works right don't know the version though. As for jail-breaking the phone its not called jail-breaking that's for apple. Its simply called unlocking and no one has been able to yet. when there is a way the development part of the forum on the windows 8 would light up with roms and explanations on how to unlock the Nokia phones. Im waiting on it too and as with many others.

[Completed] Windows 10 Mobile on unsupported Windows Phone 8.1

I have read the March 2016 article here. Is the procedure still valid, or simplified, since the several releases / updates of Windows 10 Mobile?
I have a Nokia Lumia 920 that has WP8.1 Denim, all updates done. Finally managed to get the Upgrade Advisor to download, and it tells me that this phone isn't suitable - and gives a very abbreviated list of Microsoft Lumia phones that qualify.
My own Microsoft Lumia 640XL Dual SIM upgraded easily, despite 8Gb phone space.
Hi !
If Microsoft decided not to support certain phones then there`s nothing you can do about , they may have some reasons behind
You can start a discussion here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lumia-920/general but I`m affraid that this won`t change anything but at least you might get more oppinions
Cheers !
