Hi, I was wondering if other users could confirm if the Find X2 Pro phone has the capability of receiving SMS on wifi when there is no mobile network connection, for example when travelling abroad?
Thanks!
Some mobile network providers have this wifi SMS function, provided the phone has this capability: https://www.telstra.com.au/support/mobiles-devices/telstra-wifi-calling#wifi-sms

Hi,
Could you please help me to find out best SIP software for HD2. I got PortSIP for my HTC HD2. It;s working very well on wifi connection. But not working at all on t-mobile UK 3g network. I get registration failed error. I just realised that PortSIP doesn't initiate the data connection at all. SO getting same message even though not connected to internet. My voip provider is actionvoip.
Any suggestions....
yes portsip does not initiate the 3G/data connection. But there is a work around. Open a web browser or any application that uses data and after connection has been established start portsip then it registers successfully.
I use Actionvoip on 3G without any problems.

Hi,
I tried same, But no success. On which network you are.. I am on t-mobile UK and i found following link (https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/combi/) in which thay have mentioned that
<b>
"you can't use your phone as a modem or use internet Plus for peer to peer file sharing, or making internet phone calls. *[Internet] Plus comes with a fair use policy of 3GB a month."</b>
So I am wondering wheather T-mobile is blocking my access to use any SIP software. Although i can use skype mobile on t-mobile.

I am on softbank in Japan
Skype is no SIP-software.
VoIP might also be blocked by your VoIP-provider. I use VoIP for my company and we had the problem that we could only sign in from the provider's own network. They didn't allow external connections to their VoIP-servers.
After we had some discussions on the matter we received a workaround, so we can use VoIP from anywhere in the world and customers can call us on the same number, where-ever we are
don't worry
try FRING for windows mobile.. its supported SIP .. WORK PERFECT
NIMBUZZ
Try nimbuzz messenger.
Maybe this one WVGA VoIP software with earpiece, HTC favorites import, dtmf support
Hey guys, I'm leaving to study abroad in a few days. I'll be gone until January and I was wondering what my cheapest options are for making phone calls/sms both in my host country and home.
I currently have a myTouch 3G that I'm taking with me. I also have Skype on my laptop with unlimited calls to US/Canada. Is there any way to make skype calls using my phone?
Any other options?
Abroad, always look for a hotspot to connect to internet with your smartphone via wifi...then you can place calls with a sip provider like voipbuster, justvoip, etc. threw programs like fring or Nimbuzz.
Make sure to disable 3g, 2g, etc when abroad to avoid extra roaming kosts
Google Voice
Call t mobile and get your unlock code and get cell coverage there from a local provider. preferably pree paid so you don't go way over your budget with calling the stats.

I have a problem that I've noticed with 2.3.4. Currently, I'm using MIUI 1.6.24, but have also tried stock ROM (GRJ22) with the same results. Basically, I'm making SIP calls over WiFi while I'm in roaming mode, which shouldn't even be traceable by the carrier. I believe MIUI forces SIP calls to be WiFi only, and I can't remember if AOSP 2.3.4 has an option to enable SIP over WiFi only, but if so, I would have enabled it.
Somehow, the carrier is still charging me the same roaming fees when I'm receiving SIP calls, and when I look up the call info, it's incoming to my cell number. It's also recognized as a voice call, not a data transmission. My carrier is currently forwarding my cell number to the SIP number in the event I can't be reached or I don't answer the phone; what service that SIP number belongs to should be irrelevant, and for all they know it's a SIP number attached to a home phone (not easy even for the SIP provider to discern).
My question is, is the call somehow going over roaming 3G/2G instead of wifi and the carrier is capturing and deciphering the data, or is the Gingerbread SIP somehow utilizing the voice network, or what's going on? Should I try using a non-integrated solution (like SIPDroid) and using Droidwall to force the app to only work through WiFi? Or is there some way of software-disabling the SIM card when on roaming? I really don't need provider service when I'm getting charged on a per-minute/per-kB basis, and I'll just rely on WiFi instead.
Thanks guys!

For US Carriers at least (I wouldn't be surprised if this was a standard practice outside of the US as well), all forwarded calls continue to use your minutes for the duration of the call as the call is still routed through your carrier.
So, if you are being forwarded the call from your cell # to your SIP you will use minutes and incur roaming fees if you are roaming. Incoming calls directly to your SIP line (that do not use your cell #) should incur no charges outside of data usage if you are over 3G. Outgoing calls using the SIP trunk only should also incur no charges.
Does the idol automatically use wifi when it's available for data? I just got a sim card and activated using BYO Wireless (T-Mobile).
My old Tracfone phone had an option where you could turn off cell data and use wifi only.
Yes and no..the priority is wifi but the cell radio is still used to receive sms's and other cell phone specific notifications...when you make a call while on wifi it's still using the cell radio not wifi for the call. You however have to have wifi on and the hotspot "saved"...if you want the phone to automatically grab any available hotspot when in an area look for an app like "wefi".
Some people make things so complicated.
The simple and best answer is yes, Wifi always takes priority over mobile data if the phone is connected to a wifi signal. This is standard on all phones as far as I know.
I realize it uses cell signal for messages and calls but will it use WiFi for surfing the web and email?
Thanks shodan. I posted before your reply..
Hi everyone,
Just got an HTC Desire 10 Pro.
I am based in Cork, Ireland and my network provider is Lycamobile. I am currently on the Ireland Plus bundle.
Since inputting my SIM over a month ago, I have been unable to connect to the internet via mobile data- though I can make and receive calls, send and receive text messages and make WhatsApp calls (using Wi-fi).
Despite several resetting of the Access Point Names by Lycamobile, the mobile data remains disconnected even when data roaming is ticked. I have been asked by Lycamobile technical staff to replace the SIM which I will do once the new SIM arrives.
Appreciate anyone who has experienced this to assist.
