Question Google Messages for OneUI - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

I use Google Messages app for my mms/sms and I've downloaded it from the Play Store and I've noticed that they've made a special version for One UI when it's installed on a S22 Ultra, specifically the contact icons are a (awful) pastel gradient color. I prefer the regular non-One UI version with more vibrant icons that aren't gradient. So I installed an older version of the normal APK from APKPure app and it went back to normal, but in the Play Store prompted for updates and as I feared it updated to the One UI version again.
So my question is, is there a way to force which version I have on the phone without having to override it again with an update? Those pastels are just awful looking!

[Q] Need help with Default Messenger!

SO after rooting my OnePlus i had to flash install my google apps, unfortunatly the default messenger app that comes stock with the one plus is also gone, this is very important for me because its the only messenger app(from my knowledge) that can be customized with my purchased themes i have. Changing messaging themes does not work on 3rd party messenger applications so i cant download any from play store either! ANY HELP?
THANKS!
Extract the APK from a zipped ROM and install as normal app.
Why don't you try Google Messenger
I'm pretty sure you will love the material design, blends in with almost any theme you install.
I would also recommend Textra, pretty much stock based, but with plenty of material design, theming and customisation options.

[Info]{Update}Nova Launcher updates application, counts Google Pixel style features

On the eve of its fifth anniversary, software firm TeslaCoil Software announced that it is launching a new update for its Nova Launcher application. The update, which was released on Google Play Store, has been under extensive beta testing for a while and is now available for all users.
According to a report on Android Police website, Nova Launcher is one of the most popular user interface skins for Android users. A full change log of the update has also been released by the company
The log counts additions, such as swipe to open drawer and search bar (similar to what is available on Google Pixel smartphones), a new search view with tabs for frequent, recent, and new applications, timeout-styled screen lock method, double-tap swipe gestures, Android 7.1 launcher shortcuts, dock backgrounds to draw under the navigation bar, and a quick start interface to change major settings easily.
With the update, Android users can now make their launchers look similar to the Pixel Launcher. The website claims adds that with the new update, Nova Launcher comes with a cleaner interface. It states that though the new gestures come across as a bit unusual, it helps a user in gaining a quick access to more features without deranging the UI with extra buttons.
The app can be downloaded both from the developer's website as well as Google Play Store.
Google launched its Pixel smartphone at an event in October this year. The handsets are the first to come without any OEM branding. Pixel and Pixel XL are available in aluminium and glass frames in three different colour variants - Very Sliver, Quite Black and Really Blue. Both run on the latest Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box and support Google Assistant already available on the company's VPA assisted messaging app Allo.
Pixel XL sports a 5.5-inch QHD (1,440x2,560 pixels) resolution AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 4 and an integrated Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor on the back. Pixel, on the other hand, comes with a 5 inch screen with full HD display, with the remaining configurations remaining the same for both. The battery on board Pixel is a smaller 2,770mAh.

How to get back old Google Play Store icon?

Hey everyone. As you all may know, Google recently updated thr Google Play Store and gave it a new icon update (which removes the bag/basket background at the back of the play logo.) I honestly hate the new icon, compared to the other icons anyway. The icon now sticks out on my home screen and apps pages like a sore thumb. I don't have any idea on how to get back a background for the icon, apart from obviously turning on app icon frames/background in the phone's settings, but I don't like doing this as well since it turns most of my apps into ugly rounded white-ish app icons. Anyone know how to get back the old icon without downgrading the Play Sotre it self. Any help will be appreciated. Screenshots down below..Thanks.
You can use this app to customize shortcuts, though you'll likely need an icon pack: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bhanu.appshortcutmaker

Other alternatives are to install another Icon Pack from the Theme store, or install a new launcher like Nova and have complete freedom for customising everything, including individual icons
My icon has never updated to the new one without the white background., I there a setting somewhere that might be preventing it? I have a pixel xl
Thanks

Can stock Google apps be themed too ?

I like to run stock Google apps, like Google Messages, and Google Calendar, etc.... Can those be dark themed when applying a full system theme ?
Like here are some Substratum themes, that are supposed to work on the S8, like this one;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftdark.substratum&hl=en
Since this Theme is made for Nexus / Pixel phones running stock Android, as well as now made to work for the Galaxy S8 / Note 8 line. Can this theme darken everything installed on the phone ? The Samsung apps, as well as any stock Google apps installed on the S8 ?
I don't own a S8+ yet, but thinking of getting one, and this Swift Dark theme is my fav theme. Just want to make sure it themes both the Samsung apps as well the Google apps.
Can I ask a big favor from someone here please? Someone install this theme and see if it themes Android messages or Google Calendar Etc
Did some YouTube searching last night, and it seems Substratum does allow theming of Google apps you install, like Google Calendar, but will also theme the phones stock Samsung Calendar as well.
Is that true ?
71 views and no replies. I guess no one here themes their phone ?
It will do that. YouTube it

What has happened since 0.3.0?
First of all, I wanted to create two companion apps, one for At A Glance (this is ready), one for Google Now. Sadly, so far all of my implementations sucked for one reason or another, so I still need time for that. If you can't live without Google Now, I suggest you to use the debug build from Github. If you don't really care, use the Play Store version.
But than, Amir released version 3.2 of Rootless Pixel Launcher, so I changed my mind: rebase Lean to make use of 3.2, and implement a few more requested feature. Look at the changelog, I think it looks nice.
What's next?
I have my eyes on two things:
stabilization, this is the most important. I have now included crash reporting in the builds, so I can monitor if I need to act on something.
proper implementation of Google Now companion app.
TL;DR: Download Lean Launcher from the Google Play Store!
This launcher runs flawlessly on my Pixel 2XL! Just one question - is there a way to turn off at a glance? The option in Lean setting is grey so I cant turn it off. I'm using the debug version 1.0.0-5 from github (the google now page works perfectly btw)
Thanks! I like that icon size can be changed and also the double tap to lock!

This is a mishap from my side, in the next version, you will be able to turn it off!
It seems at a glance weather is not working in the debug version even after installing and launching the companion app...
Running playstore version, everything ok till now. Thnx!
Cheers

That's weird, it should pick up messages from the Google app sooner or later. Once it only started to work for me after I launched the Google app manually, than launching the companion app one more time. Does that maybe help?
Really loving the 0.3.0 version. I have a request. Is it possible to turn off the scroll bar in the app drawer? Scroll bar is really messing up the immersive experience for me. May an option to toggle in the settings.
Thank you for lean launcher
Awesome launcher smooth! My weather doesn't show, any work around?
Hi,
Your Pixel launcher runs really smooth on my Note 8 (and I've tried others Pixel launcher less smooth for me), great work!
I love the options already present, maybe an option to change per app icon, but maybe not a good idea to clutter your launcher with a ton of options and loose the performance...
I prefer stability and performance instead of having options slowing down the launcher.
keep up the good work and thanks again! :good::good::good:
@Anand durai: I will see about that, not yet sure.
@fullmetal509: For the weather to show, you need to install a companion app, which you can download here. After installing it, launch it once, and then it should start to receive and forward messages from the Google app to Lean Launcher!
@Manson79: actually, per app icon change is planned for the future
the Google Now page not changing dark mode
Google now page looks like old design compared to Rootless Pixel Launcher
I can't install the LeanGlance APK, it just keeps saying the package is corrupt. I am running the debug version and I've tried using older versions but nothing seems to work. I'm using an S8+, if that's significant.

Do you have any other Pixel Launcher variant installed? If yes, you will have to uninstall that first, since the companion app has to have the same package name in order for it to be able to receive and forward messages from the Google app!
Love the app
Would love the ability to change the app drawer to transparent an grid sizes
the playstore version is really smooth
Have you considered making a toggle to have a transparent dock, preferably rounded edges just liket the Android P launcher ?
Feature request: to be able to move the dock search bar up to the top of the home screen like in pic attached but obviously with the actual Google search bar, I'm just using a widget from playstore.
Thanks for this launcher I'm using it as my daily driver ?

A perfect compromise between the too simple stock Android launcher and the too "complicated" Nova launcher !
There are just the usefull settings in this launcher !
Thx a lot !
Been using this since yesterday and I must say it is damn well smooth added with flux white substratum theme it's looking sweet! hope you can add Android P like dock and other P launcher features in the future. Keep it up! good work and thank you

You can set the dock to transparent: Settings > Look & Feel > Hotseat background > Transparent. However, I think you mean translucent, like the P preview launcher is. That is planned, but for now, I'm waiting for Google dropping the latest launcher sources.

P features are planned for later, first Google will have to drop the latest sources for it. After that, I'll most likely rebase to it, and the launcher will have the latest look & feel.
