Heat question (A13 EvolutionX rom) - Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Questions & Answers

Im going to talk about my past experience.
I was using miui 12.5 (xiaomi.eu) and orangefox recovery.
At that time, I tried to use PE rom or Evo rom, so I tried flashing both, but only PE-ROM was bootable. Maybe Evo rom needs to use a different recovery...
Anyway, I set things up with PE rom and used it, but the phone was warm. I figured something was running in the background and let it idle, but it was still warm. It was worse when charging, and the charging speed was also slower than before (hopefully not because of the absence of Mi FastCharging...).
Now that I think about it, I should have done a reflash...
Since then, I've only been using eu roms, but this time a13 Evo roms came out and I'm trying to be brave again. There is no such problem with Evo rom, right??
Was My behavior bad?
I would like to hear opinions from a13 Evo users and experts
sorry for my english

Phone continues to randomly reboot even with new radios

I have tried 4 different radios and this phone still randomly reboots with frequency. I am the the 802 radio and it seems even worse then earlier radios. I am currently on gingerritis rom which i installed yesterday and have probably had 12 reboots since then.
Is it a combination of the rom and radio, or does just the radio make the phone reboot? I am really just tempted to flash it back to stock, sell it with the warning of this phone enjoys random reboots and get another phone.
while i typed this up it just rebooted twice on its own
I dont think the radio is what is going to fix the reboot issue. I know for some of the roms the fix was flashing the ziggy kernel.
Maybe give that a shot.

If hes using gingeritis, hes already using ziggy's kernel. Sounds weird i know, but try a new battery
Sent from my TBolt using my f***king thumbs...
i think overclocking to high and all the kernel cpu mods are whats causing this, not the radios.

I agree. Ziggy's stock voltage settings are very conservative north of about 1.5GHz. If you're tweaking it, definitely pay attention to the voltage.
nope not touching voltage or overclocking, i just put rom on thats about as far as i go tweaking phone.
Installed M0N0LITHTH3ORY rom and so far no reboots today, the gingeritis one must hate my phone cause in the less than 24 hours it was on the phone damn thing rebooted easy 10 times. But now this one is giving me some unexpected errors with weather app. I will give this one a week and see how it does and if no good on to next rom i guess.

Have you ever formatted /system?
yeah every time i put new rom i go into clockwork recovery
i wipe / factory reset
then format /system /cache /data
and wipe davlik cache
then install rom
double post...
i know my phone didnt like a few different roms. try a diffeerent one. also try doing each step 3 times. i did that after my phone rebooted on an a0sp rom by droidtheroy, after that it worked just fine on the rom that was rebooting
You know what? I was having the same problem and tired as hell of my TB. I was so tired of the little problems and the large rebooting problem that I had learned to really hate this phone.
A few days ago I decided to just use the new leaked, stock, unrooted, GB 210 RUU and give that one more try before I either took a hammer to this phone or unrooted and tried to get VZW to replace it.
I've had the latest leaked RUU on this phone for a few days now and I'm loving it again. Yeah, stock, unrooted, but also super fast GPS locking, fast 3g/LTE switching, no more reboots, not one. Battery is actually not bad at all after turning off a few of the stock bloat like Blockbuster. The gui is fast and smooth, I can't say whether or not it is as fast as it was when I was running custom ROMs but as far as I'm concerned its a big who cares. I now have a nicely working phone again. This is just my experience and my opinion, YMMV!

I got reboots with gingeritis and liquid ROMs, I've had no reboots in a week now running Virus' Synergy ROM. Try a different ROM, it should fix your problems.
Here's a link to Virus' work:

Second the ROM recommendation. Try a different one. I had the same issue with wanting to grenade this thing until I found a combo of ROM and radio that was stable for my use and applications.
Now I wouldn't think of tossing this phone.

Stability and battery life good for me with stock 1.70.605.0. Currently at 868 hours uptime.
yeah i am on monolith rom and so far no reboots, i am going to give this one a shot for now, hopefully this cures it.

Newbie here

Hello everyone I have just joined this forum about two days ago. I own a oneplus one which i found to be one of the finest smartphones until CM12 came along. It seems to me that CM12 ruined battery life of the oneplus. With CM11 battery life was much better, even charging time was not more that 2hrs max. Now I have read the forums that many oneplus owners experienced the same issues.
Now the thing is that I do not have any experience in how to root my my phone or install kernels and other stuff. Is there anything that would help my phone to have a similar battery life of CM11?
Thanks

I take it you haven't unlocked your boot loader yet?
Unfortunately 5.0+ seems to be a bit poorer in the battery dept for most people. Most are hoping 5.1.1 helps the battery life, if not we'll have to hope for android M whenever that arrives. If you had an unlocked b/loader and custom recovery you could tryout some custom roms. Or even flash a 4.4.4/kitkat rom as many (including myself) have done. I had installed multirom and have been running COS12 as the main rom and CM11S on the secondary. The battery life was/is so much better, I was hitting 5-6hrs screen on time over 2days from a full charge, with lollipop I was hitting 4-5hrs screen on time over 1-1.5 days at a stretch., the standby drain is also a lot more.
If you havent already done so you could try checking privacy guard and denying wake up and keep awake permissions to google play services or anything else that seems to be active a lot in the background that you think shouldnt.

No I never unlocked anything. the phone is just unrooted. What I only is just change themes, which seems also to be buggy. So is it possible to revert back to CM11s? Are COS12 and CM12 the same or different please?

It isnt possible without unlocking your bootloader, see the below guide if you want to look at that option. It seems a lot of hassle but once its unlocked, thats it, it wont lock again unless you specifically go through running a command to do so. As an added advantage you can install a custom recovery which will allow you to make a full nandroid backup, which you can keep on your device or copy over to your PC. You can use this if you ever run into any problems or if you want to try out some other roms, you have the option to go fully restore your last setup.
I dont think I've had any issues with themes, is it one in particular or all, what happens?
I believe we are referring to the same thing, COS12 (Cyanogen OS 12) is what the oneplus one runs out of the box (stock Cyanogen OS). CM12 which is what it also gets called can also mean the CM12/12.1 nightlies, which can be flashed like a custom ROM and are considered the most up to date (on the bleeding edge if you like).

Help Installing custom ROM

my phone has been slow even after factory reset, i guess with a custom ROM it can get a bit faster. (when bought was fast, then android 9.0 slower, and now the 10 even slower)
I already installed a custom rom on old phone which was basically trash, slow, stutter everywhere, on menus, facebook and on youtube, but after i installed the custom rom it was rly smooth.
btw the phone was an huawei with 512mb ram, cant remember cpu but was bad too.
Now the problem is i am afraid to damage this phone since it is my only one and i cant get a new one if a mess this up, and also i need a very stable ROM with none of those camera, wifi, 4g, etc... problems.
I dont know much when it comes to custom ROMs so it rly is hard for me to find a perfect ROM.

Getting the most out of our 8T: OxygenOS + custom kernel or custom ROM?

Hello guys.
I bought an 8T during Christmas and I instantly installed LineageOS because I wanted less bloatware as possibile and more privacy, since I read some articles regarding OxygenOS telemetry and sending data back to servers in China.
I also installed a custom kernel which was GREAT, battery drain was super low and it was so smooth, but since latest builds LineageOS doesn't work with custom kernels anymore because WiFi breaks.
When flashing back Lineage's kernel I couldn't help but wonder: am I using the device to its best with this setup? I really miss the custom kernels and I noticed that most of them are supported only on OxygenOS. OxygenOS could also probably have proprietary code that is optimized to the device and full support (for example, I lose the 48 MP camera with custom ROMs. Not a big deal at all, but still)
So what do you guys think? Do you like OxygenOS or prefer custom ROMs? Can I remove enough bloatware to make it a bit lighter and secure? Is it too early to use custom ROMs with this new device?
Let me know what you guys think and what your 8T setups look like!
Thanks.
Latest OOS + root + Bluspark Kernel
Seriously I don't care about some data which will be send back to China. Not even sure if it's real.
I have deactivated all bloatware apps which I don't need or use with swift backup.
Idle drain is about 1% and i can easily reach 7h and more SOT without any other battery optimizations or kernel settings. Wifi, Data, 120hz for example always on.
So far I'm happy with it.

The main reason I'm tempted to go back to stock OxygenOS is, as you already know, the custom kernels low battery drain and great performance. I tried both Radioactive kernel and Bluspark kernel and they're amazing. I'm really tempted now to go back to stock; I just hope Oneplus won't be super slow with the updates!
Thanks for your opinion.
I am just using OOS right now, haven't had the time to try and remove/block some bloatware yet. I like oxygen OOS so haven't seen a reason to go to a custom rom. Would love to go google less, but a lot of apps I use require google services to work.
I am quite happy with the stock kernel battery time. But might try out a custom kernel soon, if so which one would you recommend. bluspark or revolution kernel?
I am also sure there will be an increase in custom kernels that support linage OS soon as well, if you just wait.

I would recommend you to try both of them for a week and judge by yourself. I started with Radioactive kernel which was really good, that's what made me fall in love with custom kernels. I tried switching to Bluspark kernel to see if WiFi worked there, but it didn't, just like Radioactive kernel, so I didn't really use it that much.
But now, if both would support LineageOS (or if I'm going back to stock), I'd go for Bluspark. The developer was really helpful in trying to debug why the kernel wasn't working for LineageOS, he even did 4/5 test builds just for me to try to debug it, even if he clearly wrote he didn't care about debugging custom ROMs.
Also, the features look better tbh, but flashing a custom kernel takes like 1 minute, so you can switch between the two really easily if you want to try both of them.
I am also sure there will be an increase in custom kernels that support linage OS soon as well, if you just wait.

I'm not sure about that, I asked LineageOS developer and he clearly said he doesn't care about making his work harder just to support custom kernels, and custom kernels developers tried (like eng_stk for Bluspark) multiple times with no success, I think he kinda gave up; he told me it was something he wasn't going to try to tackle.
Tried asking in Radioactive kernel's thread but they told me that "I was lucky it even worked before.....it's not for AOSP roms"
I have tried other custom ROMs, but always ends up going back to Stock. OOS is pretty solid at this point minus a couple of minor issues. Something always doesn't work on custom ROMs
I tried lineage and evolutionX roms but both times moved back to OOS. Its the first stock rom i like. I use magisk canary for root with a few modules and radioactive kernel which gives awesome battery life. I didn't even realize the difference till now. I haven't reinstalled radioactive yet since moving back to stock rom yesterday and the difference is night and day to me.

Blu Spark is pretty good too..Yes, OOS with either Radioactive or Blu Spark gives stellar battery life...Overnight I am losing 0% battery for 8 hours which is unheard of at least for me...
Hmm, I might wait some time to see if some other ROMs come out or I can somehow install a custom kernel, before switching back to stock. But at least I know that OxygenOS is pretty good stock! Thanks for your opinion guys. I hope Oneplus will keep releasing updates for quite some time then.
There is also Neutrino kernel coming. Alpha 3 is already out and as i have heard next update will be beta. I'm gonna test it.

Nope.
Im using it right now. It's the first day and it already seems to be better than bluspark.
Idle drain is 0,75%/h. Will check further.

Thanks for the update. I went back to stock OxygenOS and installed Bluspark. I would've tried Neutrino but I noticed it doesn't have a lot of features yet, like it misses Wireguard support and vibration intensity support. Let me know how it goes for you!

So far it's pretty good. Got 9h SOT yesterday at almost the same usage. With Bluspark it was like 8h maybe. They are both great kernel. Performance is similar and also system is very smooth.

Question Can custom roms solve overheating issues?

I've been using my poco x3 pro for a month now and I'm really happy with it. However it always heats up on casual usage (like scrolling through apps).
Has anyone experienced less overheating in custom roms vs. stock miui? I'm kinda hesistant of unlocking bootloader and flashing custom roms as I'm afraid of bricking it (I haven't found any solutions to brick yet such as patched firehose to bypass auth in case of edl). But if it can solve the overheating problems maybe I'll give it a try.

Had the phone for a couple of weeks haven't really experienced a difference in heat using ArrowOS though. I suppose it depends how warm it gets, apparently it's normal for it to get pretty warm. If everything is working as it should and temps are around 30°C when it's idle then it's fine.
I wouldn't be afraid of bricking the phone so as long as you follow a tutorial correctly. I did it first time for my Poco and everything runs fine.

Try MIUI EU 12.5.5, its far better than Stock MIUI, less heating, and solved some problem you may and may not know. also dont use Custom karnel on MIUI its caused overheating in many cases.
So yes i used the phone with MIUI EU 12.5.5 on daily basis and theres no overheating, its not even warm when used for scrolling apps or browsing. Stock MIUI is garbage brother try other rom.
it has something to do with your kernel and its setting
different roms has their own preferred kernel configurations
