AGM Glory G1 Pro review - General Questions and Answers

Hi, i could't find any info about AGM mobile Glory G1 pro. What do you know about this phone? That is expensive rugged phone. But what with quality and possibilities?
I had ulefone armor 10 5g and now bought AGM glory pro. I'am little bit confused about price, armor 10 price is about 350 EURO, amg glory pro 850 EURO.
Between those two devices i see only two differences. Ulefone have more sensors. Compare to agm i pay only for loudspeaker and thermal/night vision camera.

Actually there are 3 different versions of the glory pro. Depends which country variant you buy, the Chinese one has a laser range finder.
More interesting model is G1S as it is cheaper

did you get a G1s?
i got the wife one, and i picked up the INFIRAY PX1
these two phones are almost the same thing, but its hard to find a ROM for them.
the thermal quality is BAR NONE best yet.

Hi @mprudic0404,
Can you share the px1 infrared cammera app? I have agm g1s, but I saw on a video that px1 app has more options.

i've been interested in the agm glory series. i've used blackview, oukitel, umidigi, ulephone, and doogee. the one thing they all have in common is non existant software support. i can do without an upgrade to android versions, but the lack of security patches annoys me enough i've stopped buying any of them. agm phones, the glory series in particular, atleast has a more premium price. can any users here confirtm they offer secutiry patches on a regular basis?

Nope, do not expect updates. Premium price does not mean premium service with Chinese manufacturers. Agm is no exception.

The big thing about the G1 (I have one) is the snapdragon processor. this was a deal breaker option for me and WHY I selected the G1. the performance difference is night and day. it FEELS like a flagship phone.
the high res thermal and night vision cams are the selling points (It has both) alone with that snap dragon processor.
one bit of warning BUY the extended 2yr warranty. mine is 1.5 years and the battery is puffing. warranty is only 1 year and they do NOT offer a battery replacement service ...... I have no idea if its even possible to tear this phone apart without destroying it.

They make truly great hardware but they really do need to get their **** together on how hard they have everything locked down.
All of their firmware in encrypted and can't be extracted with regular tools. You can't reboot into field test mode or any other means to gain access with PDC tools or EFS explorer. You can't execute SU commands via ADB Shell.
All well and good if your device is locked down this hard when it ships feature-complete, but when core components (VoWifi etc) are not working globally, all you are doing is preventing users from fixing the issues themselves. It's infuriating.

Where are you buying the Medipad X2/Honor X2 from?

Hey guys,
I think most of us outside China/HK are importing the X2 from eBay sellers or Chinese e-commerce shops like Aliexpress, Gizok, Ainol-Novo etc. I'm trying to figure out which sellers you've had a good experience with buying, in terms of getting the product on time, in good conditions, and properly set up with the Google Play App store and configured with English (or your native language) as the default language.
I wanted to ask where you guys are buying from, as I prefer to buy from reputed retailers with clear policies on returns and support, but these things are pretty murky when you're importing from a China/HK-based seller.
I'm in Canada, so when I buy, I'll need to consider both the reliability of the seller plus customs fees, so I'd like to hear from you guys before I make my decision.

Did you have to pay customs fees in the US? I have considered getting it shipped to the US and having a friend bring it over to Canada.
Which carrier are you on? Are youbgetting 4G or HSDPA speeds? I've heard of US users having issues with SMS, but maybe those have been fixed with firmware updates.

I bought mine off eBay from zomlong-trading. I had it within a week. They shipped it DHL and it had the Play Store and Google Services preinstalled. Somehow, it arrived with an already unlocked bootloader. My buddy just bought a Mediapad M2 from Gizok. I'll post back when his arrives.

I should have went with that for a few extra bucks. Unlocked bootloader is the winner for me. Out the box ready to mod.

I'm interested in buying a X2 or M2. I would be very interested in your comparison between them. I have read the hype, but being metal cased, does the M2 suffer from worse connectivity in poor reception areas?

He ordered his when Gizok had them in stock and hasn't received it yet. They said it was out of stock but when he placed his order it said it was in stock. So he is giving them another week to get it in Stock and if not he said hes placing the order on ebay. The metal casing doesn't interfere with the signal at all. If you plan on using it as a phone get the X2. The M2 is way bigger and wont fit in your pocket at all. The M2 is good if you just want a tablet and don't care about having a phone. Personally I'd go for the X2.
Does the MediaPad M2 have a phone function as well?

The M2 is more a pure tablet. 8", bigger in size and also has less big battery ( 4500mah ). No phone calling capability ( only LTE etc ).
The X2 is more functional and fits more the tablet/phone profile. The M2 is pure and simple a tablet.

I read conflicting information regarding the M2 phone calling capability.
The Huawei M2 User Guide details how "selected models" make phone calls.
I would only be interested in phone-calling M2 "selected models".
I agree X2 is less ambiguous in that respect.
I am pretty sure the LTE version of the M2 has a phone function. The confusion comes from the fact that the M2 is also available in a WiFi only version.
I just made a mockup of the M2 in plywood to judge how it feels in the hand compared to the X2 and it is actually pretty good.
I am using a Sony SBH52 Bluetooth handset when I use the X2 as a phone and I can do the same with the M2. I think the extra screen real estate will make a real difference in useability.
The slighty smaller battery will not make a difference I think.

Are you sure about the size? http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Huawei-MediaPad-M2,Huawei-MediaPad-X2/phones/9531,9277
Its a massive difference between the two... Also the weight sees a big increase.
The m2 is really a tablet, not a phone/tablet. I also see no mention about phone capability on the LTE version. You can have phone capability is if you some 3th party solution, like Skype + fixed number. But that is a bit of a detour.
Battery... it will have a effect. Sure, its only 200mAh less, but its also powering now a 8" screen. So all in all, you get a bigger tablet, with less battery power. All that for just 1" more... To me, the m2 just serves a different market.
Edit: I just tried the X2 vs M2 in hand holding using a quick mock up ( using the phonearea comparison ) and while i have big hands, the extra size on the m2 makes it impossible to hold it in one hand ( for me ).
Like Benjiro said, here is the difference in size between the two. I'd get the X2 unless you're looking for just a tablet for around the house.
There are several videos on YouTube that show the M2 with a Dialer/Phone App on the homescreen. Also the LTE version has two SIM slots and I have never seen a tablet with two SIM slots just for data.
The point I am making is that I use the X2 more as a tablet than a phone and then the M2 makes more sense.
I have used an iPad Mini in the past as my main tablet and the M2 actually has a larger screen and is smaller in width so is darke to hold in your hand.
With the X2 I still tend to get my iPad Air 2 for certain tasks and I think the M2 can be my one and only device.

Help for contents and box of "new" S4 Black Edition i9505. Is it new or refurbished?

Help for contents and box of "new" S4 Black Edition i9505. Is it new or refurbished?
Hi,
I've just bought online in UK a brand new Samsung S4 Black Edition i9505.
However in the box S/M/L sizes eargels are missing (but earbuds are ok and sealed) and the UK charger is a ETA0U70XBE with only 1A output instead of 2A and it's missing its film wrapping. I also noticed that the small seal was not well applied outside the box so it's not clear if the box was sealed or unsealed. I've also found finger prints on the front sticker/screen protector (but not on the screen) and on the camera lens. The metal-plastic terminal of the usb cable is also a little dirty (but comes with plastic wrapping).
OS installed is already 5.0.1 but I thought that S4 comes with 4.4 preinstalled. Or maybe it is due it was assembled recently? Battery was also completely empty.
And I also found this sticker that seal the outside of the box with strange letters: A, B ,C (see attachment). What do they mean?
I would like to know if someone else has similar experience or maybe they sent me a refurbished/open box?
It probably is a refurbished or returned phone.
The box should contain the phone, the USB charger and USB cable (black), in-ear headphones with replacement buds, a manual and I think that's it.
If the box has been tampered with, then I would worry more about the phone itself than the contents.
I also have a black edition (or so it says on the box).
Mine's got a leather-like back cover and the whole phone is pure dark black. The original model had a brighter black tone and it was spotted.
Hi,
thanks for the answer. The only thing missing are the replacement buds but also rest is suspicious as written above.
The charger for example had no plastic wrapping but most of all it's only a 1 amp model. How many amps has your charger? Which model? An EU model (long and slim) or a UK model (bulkier and short)? See attachments. Mine is a UK model but looks like an S3 charger which is slightly different from S4 charger and has only 1 amp output. Does anyone else got a 1 amp charger with its S4???
Mine's a 2.0 Amp EU model, black. It also had wrapping around it.
Did you get any warranty with the phone?

The seller said it has 2 year UK/European warranty but it had to say this because he's selling them as new. Of course I had the invoice but it's just a piece of paper printed from internet.
I found a new strange thing: as you can see in the first picture there is a EAN code on the sticker. I searched that code on Google and the result was: Samsung S2 (TWO!).
Does the EAN on your box match with Samsung S4 on Google?
I can't check because my box was sealed on 3 sides, and one of those seals had the number on it and it is now torn apart.
But I don't have any reason to believe it would correspond to anything other than an S4.
The phone was bought from one of the biggest electronics store in my country.

I checked some pictures of S4 boxes that I found on Youtube, reviews, Google and all the EAN on them match the ones of a S4! So probably the second seal (the one in the attachment of my first message) is a FAKE seal!!!
I found another strange thing: the protective plastic on the front of the S4 was the colored one of S4 white and black mist (see attachment). But on unboxing video on Youtube the Black Edition always have a transparent one!
Which one did you find?
I think that A,B,C has some mean to it.
A- IMEI remains on the box
B- Seller(Vender) keeps it with them so that non can complain whether or not it was steal product,in short security reason
C- Buyer get it stocked on warranty card/ Billl to claim for warranty.
Now that phone is old, it usually stays as was. Nothing to worry about as long as device is fully functional.

Thanks for the answer. But another problem with the seal was that there was printed a EAN of a Samsung S2 (TWO!) instead of one of a S4. So it was clearly a fake seal. And I've never saw in any unboxing photo or video a seal like that for Samsung S4. I also contacted Samsung UK which confirmed me that the phone was not in proper condition. They also checked the serial number of the device and told me that it was invalid! So it was a refurbished unit.
However I sent the phone back to the seller and received a full refund. Last week I bought a new S4 Black Mist from another seller and this one is perfect. New, sealed (seal with a S4 EAN on it) and with all accessories and plastic wrappings. The OS installed is still Android 4 as expected and not already 5. And a 2A charger. It works very well. :good:
How much did you pay? If it was a good price then ignore the fact it's not new. My S4 was second hand, and I specifically chose it for that reason.

I paid it 267 euro with shipping. Too much for a used one with missing parts and the wrong charger (only 1A instead of 2A). So I sent it back to the seller.
For the one I bought last week I paid 275 euro with shipping but it's new and sealed (with all accessories and a 2A charger which 2 times faster than a 1A one).

Oh wow, yes that is a lot for a used one. I paid £120 for mine last February. It's in pretty good condition (only a few marks on the silver bezel, no scratches on the screen) but it came only with a single generic charger, and a crappy USB cable. No headset or anything, but I wasn't overly bothered because the phone itself is where the money goes and £120 for an S4 is a bargain, even today. 267 Euro's is over £205, which is absolutely top money, even for a brand new model, so to be told it was used, I would be sending it back tbh.

And most of all the seller was selling it as "new". I even emailed him before buying to be sure and he answered it was new and sealed... And the one he sent me had missing parts and a S3 charger (with only 1A output)!
Anyway 275 euro for the one I bought last week from a different seller is a good price for a really new and sealed S4. It is still a very good mid-range device. I was also considering a Samsung A3-310-2016 which came out in January this year for 240 euro with shipping but the S4 has still better specs and a huge XDA and custom rom support!

It's an extremely good mid-range device. The way I like to look at it, is like this:
You can see from my phone history (in my signature), that I go from an i9000 to an LG N4 to a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, which is quite a deviation. The i9000 was a premium device at the time and it felt like one. The N4 was a premium device and it really really felt like one (and still does to this day). The Xiaomi was a great phone, but you could tell it was manufactured for the Indian market. It wasn't that it was cheaply made. I actually think Xiaomi are quite nicely made, it was the fact there was never any commitment to updates. Getting Lollipop was a bit like playing a game of roulette. Are they going to get it? Who knows? Kind of thing..... eventually some devs ported it, but rather than the 100's that work on Samsung and the Nexus devices, there were a few kids in their bedrooms doing it. I simply didn't have time to get stuck into any ROM development at that point in time either. The Xiaomi was let down by the lack of devs, the poor camera and the general unreliability of updates and software fixes etc.
So here's the point I'm making. You can own a brand new Xiaomi, which for the money seems decent and performs okay and stuff and yeah, they're decent enough phones, if you're going for a new model....
OR, you can get yourself a second hand S4, which will blow away the majority of Xiaomi phones because here's the thing. It's not just about specs on paper. The camera destroys the Xiaomi camera's, the screen destroys the majority of Xiaomi screens and the fact there are 100's of devs knocking out great ROM's means this phone will last a lot longer than the Xiaomi ones ever will.
My modus operandi has now changed. I will never buy a new device again. Every 2 years, I will buy a last gen Samsung (or other brand) device when they become cheap and enjoy all the benefits of XDA devs and what not

Does anyone know this phone Geotel A1 ?

My phone is broken now .. I wanna buy a budget model ( around $100), I saw a phone called geotel A1 which is a rugged handset and the specs seems fit me and what is most important is the price is really low, does anyone know this phone? what about it ? Appreciate it.
Or do you guys have any recommendations ? Thanks!
I'm using this phone. Well can't expect much on this budget model. 8GB Internal Memory, 1GB RAM, can expand until 64GB SD card and is running on stock Android Nougat 7.0! So far I have no issue using this budget phone. I use it to track jogging, cycling beside this I use it for smartphone photography too!

I bought 50 pieces of this phone for my field technicians in my telecom company.
Here are my observations.
The phone is very good for the price. (around 65$)
The phone has a very clean rom, absoltuely no bloatwares at all. Android 7.0 has a bunch of cool options, gestures etc ...
It is pretty fast for a 1 Gb of RAM and there's space to install apps, despite the 8 Gb of ROM (4,2 Gb available) which is not fantastic but minimal.
Battery life for 3400mAh is pretty decent, that's promising for the future.
It is very tough too.
The cons are for me principally focused on 1 thing: the waterproof membrane on the mic and the earspeaker.
You need to drill the 2 membranes if you have sound troubles.
You can do this externally without disassembling the smartphone.
Last thing, you have to use the original USB DC cable. The original is bit longer than other micro USB cables.
Purchased one of these for use in the US. Hardware is solid and chunky with buttons which take a strong press but it is usable. Unfortunately my network (straighttalk/at&t) won't give it service! Same sim works fine in other phones.
Anybody have luck using this phone on At&t?
Probably sending it back if it is at all cost effective to do so.
Oops let me answer my own question... A little research shows that AT&T dropped 2G this year and does not support the 3G bands on this phone.
No wonder they are cheap!!
Avoid this phone in the US.

Moto Z4 not coming to Europe?

The official announcement for the Moto Z4 is only for the US. Do you think there is hope for a European model soon?
In this FCC leak (https://www.xda-developers.com/motorola-moto-z4-play-specifications-fcc/) it said that a version for Europe is planned. But many German websites claim that this is a US only phone. But they don't cite any source for this claim.
Would like to know whether I should still wait or buy something else. Thanks a lot!

Motorola Germany said, at least on their market, they wouldn't have any Z4 coming this year.

Thanks! Do you have a link? What does "on their market" mean?
I can't find it but if you notice on the UK and IT there isn't any information about Z4.
There's a higher version of z4
Z4 Force
According to Motorola there will not be force this year https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/31/18647830/motorola-moto-z4-force-not-releasing-this-year

Well that's just stupid. On the other hand, Moto Z4 does support bands B3, B7 and B20. So it's still possible to import.
Hope it's not their final decision. The way it's written looks like there's a door open.
As for importing - no warranty and an extra $/€/£ 100 or so for shipping(unless a buddy brongs one for you) makes it a tough decision.

You're right. Suddenly a Moto Z3 Play with that battery mod included for 250 eur seems like a sweet deal. Also, I'm interested what Xiaomi Mi A3 will bring to the table
I've researched. It will only cost me $ 20 to get it where I live. Now the question is if it does indeed support the right bands for over here.
I'd also wait for some other offer, preferably a battery, as I already have the 360 camera mod.
You can check all the bands here at the bottom of the page: https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-z-gen-4-unlocked
If this Z4's low performance with high price, I don't think this model will good-sale in Europe.
Low performance with high price? Isn't it other way around? Which other phone offers 128gb storage, 6.4" screen display, night vision camera, headphone jack, in display fingerprint reader and micro sd card for under $500? Not even going to bother mentioning the added benefits of mods.
Excellent camera!?
What I have found Z4 has better camera, than for example Google Pixel 3a. In my mind way better video camera.
Is there any other Motorola phone, which has that camera? And is it really possible Z4 is not coming to Europe?
Really want to buy this phone so I can replace my z play. Hope it can be sold to other countries and release a dual SIM version.
I've ordered it, should be here soon. Hopefully all works as expected.
I am from Germany and were lucky to have got the rare opportunity to get a second hand Z4 from Germany. So no import charges and no expensive shipping cost.
I have not regretted the purchase yet. No problems with frequency bands, connection and so on. I really like the phone. What I noticed, especially, is that it is very much less sensitive to signs of use like scatches or similar. With all my former Z Series devices, I could at least see scratches at the frame very quickly - even although using a bumper most of the time. With my Z4, I only use a StyleShell for the back with zero protection for the metal frame at the sides and still not one single scratch. Wonderful!
No warranty is not really true. The truth is, you will have warranty, but you will have to send it to the USA then. I can not imagine that shipping a little box only containing a flat mobile to the USA could be that expensive. For warranty, you only have to send in the mobile and nothing else. So warranty claims will only become more complicated. But for me, Z4 is worth that risk and inconvenience.
And after all: Z4 is a REAL battery beast!
Well I've got it. All works as expected. First impressions are really good. Still getting used to the taller aspect ratio.
I also seem to have gotten the amz one. Don't mind the few mb bloatware. I just wonder if software updates will be as usual or further delayed?

According to reviews use of StyleShells is one of the biggest drawbacks with Z4, as they don't fit to the frame as nice and seamless as on previous Z models. I'm also using StyleShell on permanent basis and while it maybe not so big issue with some of the bigger and shortly used mods, it seems like showstopper to me if there is a gap and StyleShell doesn't fit well. Would you be so kind to clarify this? Maybe you can make some photos of your StyleShell attached?

not sure where to post this because no thread for it

I very much don't recommend you to buy this phone at that price, you have sooooo many other option, Umdigi and other Chinese less known brands often are a problem when in comes to Customer services. Same when you need to flash ROMs on it or have a problem with it, no devs are buying this.
Plus if you have trust issues with Chinese products, this one won't fit your expectations.
Please don't buy that. Just for the price point, that would be a loss for you.
Okay what do you suggest with about the same size screen and the same horsepower that chipset is slightly faster than a 730 g I looked also it needs to have bands for for Sprint so if you know of anything with a screen size that size and slightly more horsepower than a 7:30 g and 6 GB of RAM in that price range let me know thank you

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite seems to fit your expectations. Idk the price where you live, but for me it's close to 250$ (270€). It might be because of a sale, but if you want those specs, wait a bit longer till you have more budget or till the price is down to 250$.
Have a good day
The Umidigi S5 pro is a good phone. I have used it for over 8 months and I love it. Very fast and have had no hiccups. If you are overly concerned about it being a Chinese product (Which most of the phones are manufactured in Asian countries) then throw a custom rom on it. One that I know works for it is Havoc OS which is perfect because it is classified as a gaming phone.
