Hello friends I will like to gather some opinions on new iOcean M6752 "ROCK" 4G phone.
I'm looking to by something like this new phone from iOcean which have impressed me by its specifications. Some time ago (2.5 years ago) I was thinking what to buy and unfortunately I have decided not to buy iOcean X7. That was mistake since aging X7 have been updated to KitKat while the one I have chosen stayed on 4.2.1. I can say only say well done iOcean on your customer care, and my next phone will be definitely from your company.
If I look into iOcean M6752 Rock specifications, I'm unable to find any downsides (at least obvious). For me 5,5" is a bit too big screen, but lately all serious phones (higher level) are in that size. This phone have following specifications:
- New 64bit MediaTek processor 6752 clocked at 1.7 GHz (Cortex A53)
- 3 GB DDR3 RAM good::good::good
- 16 GB internal memory + microSD expansion slot (64 GB)
- 5.5" FHD 1920x1080 IPS OGS display with narrow bezel
- Mali 760 MP2 graphics
- All possible network frequencies 4G/3G/2G
- Decent camera, 14 MPx back and 5 MPx front
- Magnesium middle plate and frame
- 3 GPS modes should make it faster
- 2300 mAh battery
- etc ......
If we look all of this specifications, only real competitor is ZOPO ZP920 but with difference of minimum 80$.
I have managed to find some photos and Antutu Benchmark video at iOcean FB page
The more I look into this phone, more I like it. Very simple design, not too thin (8,6 mm), white front with exchangeable multicolor back cover, etc. Software looks promising, Android 4.4.4 with promised upgrade to 5.0.1 soon. Framework reminds me of Jiayu but with transparent menu, again something like ZOPO did with they mobiles.
This mobile bought me with its simplicity and sophistication, and yet good price for 3GB RAM and Octa Core processor (Cortex A53).
If (when) I get this mobile, I will probably make some software alterations like I did in the past with other mobiles.
Please share your thoughts and info on this wonderful device. I believe it will be one of the best phones in this year.
Hey guys, have been following this phone for some time now. Pre-sale starts at January 26th, first 300 units for just $199, then 100 for $210 and then 100 for $220. After that normal retail price will be $230 which isn't that bad considering the specs. More info here. iOcean M6752 Rock pre-sale
I think I'm going to buy one! If I get it I will write a nice review about it!
Yeah, I think it is great deal for this money.

Just checked their official site and seems like we could pre-order with the cheapest $199.9 for the first round at Antelife, Coolicool and Efox. This is their site http://iocean.cc/

I would reccomend reading the post for the UMi Zero first before ordering from Antelife, seems there have been quite some unsatisfied customers in that topic. See this thread
Not familiar with the other two companies but I think I'll be going with one of them!
Each China seller have good and bad sides, it is question if you are lucky or not. I don't have some good proposal for online store, but usually who have phone on preorder it official store for a producer.
I think Meizu MI Note better than iOcean m6752 ROCK.

Just find out a video from YT. Quite clear to take a look at the phone.

I signed up for the preorder on the 26th or 27th of January on efox. On the site it said that shipping will start from 25th February and that it'll be shipped in the order that they were bought.. Efox has a bad backend , kind of buggy. Pre-ordering was a tad difficult due to those bugs, I just hope that shipping won't be as troublesome as the whole ordering process. I'm curious to see if the modding community will have a go at it .

Hey guys,
I think most of us outside China/HK are importing the X2 from eBay sellers or Chinese e-commerce shops like Aliexpress, Gizok, Ainol-Novo etc. I'm trying to figure out which sellers you've had a good experience with buying, in terms of getting the product on time, in good conditions, and properly set up with the Google Play App store and configured with English (or your native language) as the default language.
I wanted to ask where you guys are buying from, as I prefer to buy from reputed retailers with clear policies on returns and support, but these things are pretty murky when you're importing from a China/HK-based seller.
I'm in Canada, so when I buy, I'll need to consider both the reliability of the seller plus customs fees, so I'd like to hear from you guys before I make my decision.

Did you have to pay customs fees in the US? I have considered getting it shipped to the US and having a friend bring it over to Canada.
Which carrier are you on? Are youbgetting 4G or HSDPA speeds? I've heard of US users having issues with SMS, but maybe those have been fixed with firmware updates.

I bought mine off eBay from zomlong-trading. I had it within a week. They shipped it DHL and it had the Play Store and Google Services preinstalled. Somehow, it arrived with an already unlocked bootloader. My buddy just bought a Mediapad M2 from Gizok. I'll post back when his arrives.

I should have went with that for a few extra bucks. Unlocked bootloader is the winner for me. Out the box ready to mod.

I'm interested in buying a X2 or M2. I would be very interested in your comparison between them. I have read the hype, but being metal cased, does the M2 suffer from worse connectivity in poor reception areas?

He ordered his when Gizok had them in stock and hasn't received it yet. They said it was out of stock but when he placed his order it said it was in stock. So he is giving them another week to get it in Stock and if not he said hes placing the order on ebay. The metal casing doesn't interfere with the signal at all. If you plan on using it as a phone get the X2. The M2 is way bigger and wont fit in your pocket at all. The M2 is good if you just want a tablet and don't care about having a phone. Personally I'd go for the X2.
Does the MediaPad M2 have a phone function as well?

The M2 is more a pure tablet. 8", bigger in size and also has less big battery ( 4500mah ). No phone calling capability ( only LTE etc ).
The X2 is more functional and fits more the tablet/phone profile. The M2 is pure and simple a tablet.

I read conflicting information regarding the M2 phone calling capability.
The Huawei M2 User Guide details how "selected models" make phone calls.
I would only be interested in phone-calling M2 "selected models".
I agree X2 is less ambiguous in that respect.
I am pretty sure the LTE version of the M2 has a phone function. The confusion comes from the fact that the M2 is also available in a WiFi only version.
I just made a mockup of the M2 in plywood to judge how it feels in the hand compared to the X2 and it is actually pretty good.
I am using a Sony SBH52 Bluetooth handset when I use the X2 as a phone and I can do the same with the M2. I think the extra screen real estate will make a real difference in useability.
The slighty smaller battery will not make a difference I think.

Are you sure about the size? http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Huawei-MediaPad-M2,Huawei-MediaPad-X2/phones/9531,9277
Its a massive difference between the two... Also the weight sees a big increase.
The m2 is really a tablet, not a phone/tablet. I also see no mention about phone capability on the LTE version. You can have phone capability is if you some 3th party solution, like Skype + fixed number. But that is a bit of a detour.
Battery... it will have a effect. Sure, its only 200mAh less, but its also powering now a 8" screen. So all in all, you get a bigger tablet, with less battery power. All that for just 1" more... To me, the m2 just serves a different market.
Edit: I just tried the X2 vs M2 in hand holding using a quick mock up ( using the phonearea comparison ) and while i have big hands, the extra size on the m2 makes it impossible to hold it in one hand ( for me ).
Like Benjiro said, here is the difference in size between the two. I'd get the X2 unless you're looking for just a tablet for around the house.
There are several videos on YouTube that show the M2 with a Dialer/Phone App on the homescreen. Also the LTE version has two SIM slots and I have never seen a tablet with two SIM slots just for data.
The point I am making is that I use the X2 more as a tablet than a phone and then the M2 makes more sense.
I have used an iPad Mini in the past as my main tablet and the M2 actually has a larger screen and is smaller in width so is darke to hold in your hand.
With the X2 I still tend to get my iPad Air 2 for certain tasks and I think the M2 can be my one and only device.

Hello,
I am going to buy a new smartphone soon and I only have £100 to spend on it. What I want from it is to have a big screen (Maybe 5"?) with a a quiet large battery so it would work a bit, maybe dual sim and to be able to root it easily and put custom Android on it such as CyanogenMod etc. The rest stuff like camera, NFC etc I don't really care about, The most important for me is the screen size and battery life and various modifications I can do with such smartphone. What do you guys think and what would you recommend to buy ? I have found Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 16GB 13MP Unlocked from Hong Kong for a £100 on Ebay but I think that price for such device is suspicious, what do you people think about it ? The eBay item number is 111849677878.
Many Thanks !

A good phone for 100 quid is hard to find. They will start most likely around 200 quid. Try looking for the OnePlus One. If not new maybe used and it will save you some money. I see the OnePlus one starting at 200 quid atm.
The official announcement for the Moto Z4 is only for the US. Do you think there is hope for a European model soon?
In this FCC leak (https://www.xda-developers.com/motorola-moto-z4-play-specifications-fcc/) it said that a version for Europe is planned. But many German websites claim that this is a US only phone. But they don't cite any source for this claim.
Would like to know whether I should still wait or buy something else. Thanks a lot!

Well that's just stupid. On the other hand, Moto Z4 does support bands B3, B7 and B20. So it's still possible to import.
Hope it's not their final decision. The way it's written looks like there's a door open.
As for importing - no warranty and an extra $/€/£ 100 or so for shipping(unless a buddy brongs one for you) makes it a tough decision.

You're right. Suddenly a Moto Z3 Play with that battery mod included for 250 eur seems like a sweet deal. Also, I'm interested what Xiaomi Mi A3 will bring to the table
I've researched. It will only cost me $ 20 to get it where I live. Now the question is if it does indeed support the right bands for over here.
I'd also wait for some other offer, preferably a battery, as I already have the 360 camera mod.
You can check all the bands here at the bottom of the page: https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-z-gen-4-unlocked
If this Z4's low performance with high price, I don't think this model will good-sale in Europe.
Low performance with high price? Isn't it other way around? Which other phone offers 128gb storage, 6.4" screen display, night vision camera, headphone jack, in display fingerprint reader and micro sd card for under $500? Not even going to bother mentioning the added benefits of mods.
Excellent camera!?
What I have found Z4 has better camera, than for example Google Pixel 3a. In my mind way better video camera.
Is there any other Motorola phone, which has that camera? And is it really possible Z4 is not coming to Europe?
Really want to buy this phone so I can replace my z play. Hope it can be sold to other countries and release a dual SIM version.
I've ordered it, should be here soon. Hopefully all works as expected.
I am from Germany and were lucky to have got the rare opportunity to get a second hand Z4 from Germany. So no import charges and no expensive shipping cost.
I have not regretted the purchase yet. No problems with frequency bands, connection and so on. I really like the phone. What I noticed, especially, is that it is very much less sensitive to signs of use like scatches or similar. With all my former Z Series devices, I could at least see scratches at the frame very quickly - even although using a bumper most of the time. With my Z4, I only use a StyleShell for the back with zero protection for the metal frame at the sides and still not one single scratch. Wonderful!
No warranty is not really true. The truth is, you will have warranty, but you will have to send it to the USA then. I can not imagine that shipping a little box only containing a flat mobile to the USA could be that expensive. For warranty, you only have to send in the mobile and nothing else. So warranty claims will only become more complicated. But for me, Z4 is worth that risk and inconvenience.
And after all: Z4 is a REAL battery beast!
Well I've got it. All works as expected. First impressions are really good. Still getting used to the taller aspect ratio.
I also seem to have gotten the amz one. Don't mind the few mb bloatware. I just wonder if software updates will be as usual or further delayed?

According to reviews use of StyleShells is one of the biggest drawbacks with Z4, as they don't fit to the frame as nice and seamless as on previous Z models. I'm also using StyleShell on permanent basis and while it maybe not so big issue with some of the bigger and shortly used mods, it seems like showstopper to me if there is a gap and StyleShell doesn't fit well. Would you be so kind to clarify this? Maybe you can make some photos of your StyleShell attached?
As the title say I'm probably buying the non pro version due to the huge price difference (140€), what do you guys think? Ah I'm coming from a OnePlus 6, yesterday unfortunately I've discovered that the type c is kind loose and now the cable slips away if I slightly move the device...

Probably an inexpensive fix. Won't you need to get it fixed if you plan on selling the phone at some stage?
I'd get it repaired and wait for the 7t.
Might find the 7pro gets heavily discounted soon too.
I've got the 7pro and it is fantastic! The 90hz screen is unlike anything I've ever used on a smartphone. Not sure the 7/7t will have a 90hz display.

It depends on Amazon answer on that, sometimes they refund it if it's not available. Anyway I'll do as you advised, I'll wait for the T version hoping to not break the port :fingers-crossed:

NO!
Oneplus 7 is worth buying in China, because you spend 200€ less money (about 400€ for a new 8/256GB) and you keep Oneplus official warranty for 1 year.
Ok you lose just 1 year, but the price is the same as a Mi 9T Pro
Or if you are lucky enough (just as me), you could find in Amazon Warehouse Deals, an OP7 used in perfect condition, paying the same as a new one in China market, but with a perfect phone and Amazon warranty (and you can give it back if it is not good enough for you).
I found a French OP7: same as the others OP, but in France it is mandatory to include earphones into the package (usb-c earphones worth 20€ in Oneplus shopping page)
I ordered the OP7 with 256Gb/8GB Ram for 390€ at Gearbest during flashsale. Pretty good deal in my opinion ? I hope the delivery doesn't take too long...

I ordered my OnePlus 7 8/256 from Aliexpress for $440 so no, Amazon's current price of 600 euros is not a good deal.
For that kind of money you would get the 7 Pro on Aliexpress.
No, this device not worth such money!
I have it for 3 month already and no single custom rom, I would wait little bit for release of 7t pro and buy the 7 pro version.

As the title say I'm probably buying the non pro version due to the huge price difference (140€), what do you guys think? Ah I'm coming from a OnePlus 6, yesterday unfortunately I've discovered that the type c is kind loose and now the cable slips away if I slightly move the device...
Thanks in advance for the help!

I personally advise to purchase the OP7. It's my best best phone so far (dual speakers, same ufs3, same main camera...).
But... I've paid 381€ for the 8/256 chinese version in a much nicer red colour. There's no important difference between global and chinese versions (charger plug, instructions language...). You've even got 1 year official warranty!

Do you guys recommend buying the OnePlus 7 now? I can get a pre-owned 6GB with 10 months warranty with insurance remaining. Around 75% of that price I can get a 6T with a few months warranty remaining. Also I can't afford a 7T. Which phone do you guys recommend?
Tbh I wouldnt get either phone
Theres a lot more phones coming out this year with better specs
