Question Samsung customized Google Messages app question - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

When I received my S22 Ultra, It was preloaded with a custom version of Google Messages that matched the theme of the rest of the phone, even using the default Roboto font. This was great as my #Hex Installer theme was entirely consistent. After a "server side" change, Google Messages automatically switches to the new Material You color tinted theme with Product Sans font. If I uninstall updates, I can see the Samsung theme and Roboto font, however it changes again after reboot. I'm not a big fan of the tinted color or the stylized font. Has anyone found a way to get a consistent version?
I realize that versions of Messages before Material You changes don't automatically switch, but we're unable to revert on the S22 Ultra as it has a later version installed to the system. Installing the Go version disables the Material You color tinting and large Samsung headers but keeps the Product Sans font. Any other ideas?

This is interesting and sad, because when I searched the forum I didn't find this thread...
That said, I have the exact opposite problem. I want the Material You look, but every time I sideload an older version it updates to the new One UI appearance.

Google's "Phone" app, INVERTED? (white on black)

I am a latecomer to Android 6, as KitKat has been the best for my outdated hardware, until now with the S7 (woohoo!) I've always needed to run custom ROMs because stock Android looks very boring to me. I am a big fan of everything "inverted" so that instead of black text on all white backgrounds. white text on all black backgrounds looks EXCELLET, especially on Samsung's AMOLEDs. Now with Android 6, I am quite pleased with how much I can customize the look, with function baked right in. VERY nice. (Also running Nova Launcher).
That said. I have looked through many of the themes available for Marshmallow, but one part of this OS that is driving me nuts is the ugly phone app--it's a very plain black on white. I've also tried different dialers, but those all launch the stock "phone" app when an actual call is in session, switching from a nice white on black dial-keypad (stock or third-party dialer) (btw, the "phone" app is on the play store, by Google Inc.)
So, does anybody know, first of all, what the deal is with the stock black on white phone app not following a theme's colors? is this a fault of the theme dev or Google's "phone" app?
Secondly, does anybody know if there is a fairly recent phone.apk version that has been modified to invert the colors?
Man! almost every other app I have is white on black, except this phone app!
If you are not sure what I'm talking about, try applying a dark theme and then start a call, and watch your phone app revert to the ugly black on white in-call screen.

That is a nice dialer, indeed, but the in-call phone app is NOT the same thing as a dialer. There are many dialers, but I am asking about the app that a dialer launches when a telephone call is running.

I'm not looking for a dialer. Please see the original post.

Use Certain Elements of a Theme?

Dear all awesome techies here,
I was wondering if I could get certain elements of a theme instead of the whole thing. I mean, without modding/rooting/being a techie myself.
Basically what I'm trying to do is to change my keyboard, phone log and phone buttons to black background/white text.
There are many themes that have that which I've used before, but I'm in love with the new icons that came with the Galaxy S8+ so I don't want to use the whole thing.
Samsung theme store icon hack - Use icon only from any theme
Samsung theme added a new option in nougat for note 5 and other devices to change only icons. The problem is that icon library is quite limited. Although some themes have great icons but do let you apply icons alone (not so thoughtful of Samsung).
This method here let you use any samsung theme icon without applying that theme, Follow the complete guide here on XDA

Theme App Coverage Question

Hello all,
I will start off by saying I love this app. As others here I just want to change the way everything looks.
My question: Is there a substratum theme that applies an overlay to the Outlook app? I use it quite frequently for work and the blue and white theme drives me nuts. I would love to see it added to something like "BLACK PANEL // Samsung mod" so I can have a nice black background with white/colored text and maybe a red header(can totally be an RGB option for everyone else too).
Does anyone know if there is a theme that has this support or if it's even possible? I do not mind paying for a theme so long as it works with my phone and themes the apps I want.

I don't think anybody actually has an Outlook overlay but you can just try sending a polite request email to your favourite theme developer and it might just work :fingers-crossed:

Complete black UI in Android 9?

Hi all,
I wanted the user interface of Android Pie completely black (I am rooted), so I tried different options. Currently I use Substratum, of course, with Swift Black, Graphi and SX DarkRes themes. It's a little overkill, as I have to apply Swift Black to System-UI and Android-System; Graphi to System-UI and Android System; and SX DarkRes to System-UI. But that is the only way I get the notifications black (lockscreen AND regular) even if I LONG press them...
It is okay, so far, although I still have this ugly white search field in settings menu on top (see screenshot). So I wanted to ask, if
a) there is an more "elegant" way to theme Pie completely black ,
b) there is the chance of getting rid of the white search bar in settings.
Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.
Best
If you are on Pie, niaboc79 has released eXistenZ for XZ2 (should also work on XZ2c) with an option to use dark/black UI.

How to easily modify existing Theme

I reluctantly upgraded to android 10 and the basic Black theme I was using is now showing up with White notifications instead of black.
Is there a quick and simple way to modify an existing theme. I suspect not, but figured I would ask.
You could use,#hex or synergy to make a custom theme.
Alternatively if you wait until tomorrow, Goodlock and its apps are supposed to be OneUI2 compatible (3 Feb) Quickstar is the app that mods quick settings and notifications. Works on non root.
Thanks I've heard of hex installer but never used it. The other 2 I've never heard of. Will any of them allow you to edit an existing app or are you starting from scratch on all 3?
Thanks
I just installed hex installer, was not anything exciting. I was able to change the notification color but my default sms app had undesired affects. Hex installer alone will probably not cut it.
Will look at the other 2.
Im using synergy and substratum lite, with mainly liv dark and a few other themes where liv dosent have an overlay .
My current notifications are set to the overall background and i used an overlay to remove notification separation bar.
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to request to samsung to see if i can get their development tool for theming. Likely won't get far but worth a try
