Hi,
can anybody tell me which mobiles are the easiest to root and the IMEI number is possible to change after root? I will be in a country for 3-6 months from my internship and to use an imported mobile the tax is almost 325$ on a 500$ mobile. So, I was thinking if I could change the IMEI to some low-cost mobile and use for this time period.
Thanks in advance

Changing IMEI for whatever reason is illegal in atleast some countries. XDA being an international forum can not afford to get into legal hassles due to users seeking advice on changing IMEI or other users providing help in that. Hence we have been closing such threads consistently and your thread has been closed for that reason. Please also read Rule 9:
9. Don't get us into trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things which will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably shouldn't do it here either. This does not mean that we agree with everything that the software piracy lobby try to impose on us. It simply means that you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with the legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users and those that write great code.

Hi there,
I purchased this phone from this geezer. Samsung galaxy s7 edge.
After 3 months the phone is blocked and this guy wint answer my calls now.
I got in touch with the carrier they said insurance have been claimed and this phone is good for nothin.
I spoke to many shops here and the only solution is either send the phone to a different country or change the imei.
I love this phone therefore just wondering how can we change the imei?
Thanks for your help.

Greetings,
Due to some unfair regulations where I live in where any outsider phone has to be regulated by spending huge amount on it (around 250$) to use it without time limit on the carriers. Could anyone point me on the direction to the method of writing new IMEI's to the phone? I have 2 paperweight phones that I could use to keep the phone running on the network without that limit.
*Any risk of bricking the phone of doing so ?
*If done properly? would it get affected by future updates? would it still get future updates if the process is done ?
As anyone is getting older , I lost the interest of rooting bootloader unlocking and such things so it is preferred if there is a way of doing so without those steps ...
Any help is much appreciated

Change or edit of IMEI is illegal in quite a lot of countries. For this reason we don't allow any discussion of or support for this subject on XDA.

Hello everyone,
Recently my home country issue a statement that all devices coming from outside of the country will be blocked over the network.
and they are requesting half the price of the mobile phone so they will unblock it.
I have some old phone and I want to swipe their IMEI's with the new phones I have, as the old ones are working before that statement issued and they can continue to work with no problems.
Please i need the steps to change IMEI number for {Mod edit}.

Hey everyone! I am new here with a question.
I moved to Turkey about 4 months ago and here in turkey you need to pay the government a pretty hefty fee to use your phone if it was not bought in Turkey. As soon as I inserted a Turkish SIM i my phone I was sent a text message saying I have 120 days to use my phone and then they will block my IMEI until I pay the fee.
My phone is a... running latest updates non-rooted.
Is there a way I can change my phone's IMEI while I am here and then revert to original one when I move out again? I have the single sim version. Willing to root if needed.
Tips and tricks appreciated!

Hello,
Everything is in the title.
I found a unlocked sim card a long time ago and it still work, i would like to use it as secondary phone but i don't want the owner to pay anything.
So i'm curious if we can know it?
Thanks you very much.

Greetings. While we appreciate your inquiry, using another persons sim card is the equivalent to using their provider service for personal gains without payment.
As such, we do not allow such discussion on XDA as per XDA Rule #9:
