As you may know, the Good Lock labs One Hand Operation+ allows user defined gestures to do all kinds of things, ie. Shortcuts
As I use Firefox on the phone by default, would anyone know if there is a key-combination or other method to use OHO+ Gesture to open a new tab in Firefox?
You could try with Bixby Routine + touch macro maybe. Then attach it to a button action

Use Activity Launcher to create a shortcut for opening a new rab (unfortunately I don't use Firefox so can't say which is that one, you just need to search through the available Activities). Use OHO+ to launch that shortcut.
You could also use OHO+ for opening Firefox (open app), isn't that enough?
The solution was "Home Screen Shortcuts" and one of these is Firefox:New Tab

Hey,
I've been looking for ages for a task switching app and I was wondering if anyone had seen something good?
I've always thought that it would be really useful to have one that shows the list of apps in the notification bar and can select what apps are show.
Thanks for any help with this,
Drew
Have you tried holding down your home button?
Hey,
Yeah, tried that one, but its usually filled with settings and other things that I dont ever want to go to, so I only see like three or four apps I want to change to...It allso shows apps that are closed.
I'm being a bit fussy, the home button does do what I'm after most of the time, was just wondering if there was anything else.
Thanks,
Drew

Advanced Task Killer is a free app that will switch between apps. It is essential on the androids. I keep it widget on my desktop. When launced, it will show all the programs currently running on your android. If you hold your finger on an app in ATK, a window will pop up and you can sellect switch too.
there are lots of them, check out multitasking pro, perfect task switcher, etc.
Just do a market search and you should find what you want.

There are a couple of things I think you might like. Since you don't like having your list of apps cluttered with Settings and the like, you probably want something that you can tweak.
QuickDesk
For one, maybe try QuickDesk. It is basically a single homescreen you can access from any app by either double-tapping Home or holding Search. On top of having any widgets or shortcuts you want, there's also a sliding list of recent apps on the bottom.
SwipePad Beta
If you want something faster and simpler, try SwipePad. Basically, you can create a gesture that lets you access a screen full of shortcuts from anywhere. You choose a corner or side of the screen that you swipe away from to create an overlay that displays shortcuts to different applications.
Wave Launcher
Wave Launcher is similar to Swipepad, only it creates a smaller list of apps that follows your finger around once you do the gesture. I'd recommend following the link and watching the video since it does a better job explaining that I could do.
You should give PreHome a try. You can configure it to only display tasks that are running.
Thanks all,
I'm loving PreHome, for the whole 1 hour I've been using it for...
The double tap home function is better than my 'notification bar' idea...
The other apps look good as well but think I'll be sticking with PreHome.
Thanks again,
Drew
Specifically the ones that involve holding the pen button and drawing to clip stuff etc? I looked through the settings but couldn't see an option to disable. They conflict with other shortcuts in apps.
Thanks in advance.
I'm attempting to use Papyrus (a slick note-taking app), and it has builtin button-enabled gestures that seem to be getting ignored because of the Samsung gestures. I found an app called "GMD SPen Control" that might be able to help, but it's $6.00! There must be a way to just disable the Samsung stuff. Thanks!
I am one of those people that appreciate minimalism, so I would like to have a completely empty homescreen with no icons whatsoever. But I would like to be able to open the app drawer (A third party app drawer downloaded from the GP Store called Quad Drawer) simply by pressing the home button on my AT&T Galaxy S3. I have Cyanogenmod 10.2, and in system settings it does allow a few unique actions to be set for the home button, but none that allow the launching of a specific app (Quad Drawer). I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to make the phone allow me to set a specific app to launch when a hardware key is pressed.
Thank you for your time.

Hi,
I am also one of those people who wants to have no icons on homescreen )
Try this solution:
- install External Keyboard Helper https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelperdemo
- in advanced settings, set application shortcut (A0) to the specific app (Quad Drawer)
- in advanced settings, remap your key to 0x2410 (= aplication registered under A0)
- HOME button is a special key, it is difficult (probably impossible) to remap it using External Keyboard Helper. If you really want to remap it completely, you need to edit keylayouts in /system/usr/keylayout Editing keylayouts, you can change the behaviour of the HOME button to something else, for example CALL Then you can remap this new CALL button to 0x2410 using External Keyboard Helper.

is there a way to do so without making custom image
just look for apps like Tasker, MacroDroid, Automate, ...
edit: btw you can select the default launcher from Settings - Apps - Configure apps - Home App
Tasker would be a good option...

is there any other method to do so??
in shell script you can watch the keys in a loop (toolbox getevent -il) and perform an action on event (am start -n <pkgname>)
Hello everybody,
First of all, Big thanks for all the comunity for the outstanding job :good:
I am an owner of S7 Edge international version and also a Oneplus One (I will explain why I'm mentionning that). On the OPO, I experienced the Sailfish OS and it's a unique experience. What is really interesting is that this OS is swipe and gesture based and I consider that this will suites more the S7 edge because of the edges of the screen. The functions that I would like to import are :
- The swipe and gesture of course (I think that there are already apps who can do that so it's not a problem).
- A minimalist experience with just the Locksreen, Main screen with tiles of all the running apps (Like in Huawei P8 for example) and App drawer.
- A page with notification feed to replace OR in addition to the Notification drawer.
Due to the fact that I have 0 experience in coding and not enough time because of my professionnal life, I would like to know if there is a Launcher (I already searched) or an app or Xposed module that could do that.
How about Nova launcher pro?
I use the swype down for notification bar and swype up for settings. Also double tap to sleep (but you need to use root there! If not your fingerprint unlock wont work correctly and you always have to use the pin code)
Sent from my S7 EDGE
After rooting the device, what did you do for the fingerprint unlock to work after double-tapped sleep? Any extra steps?
What exactly do you want to do by gestures? There are powerful apps like GMD gesture control etc. I personally use glove box as appdrawer/multitasking tool by a swipe from the edge accessible from everywhere and as mentioned above swipe down for notifications and swipe up for standard appdrawer in Nova launcher. That's all I need to keep my homescreen clean and speed up the work flow.
Please take a look at Sailfish OS to understand what I meant especially for the notification page. I can't post a link yet due to the rules but a quick search on youtube is enough.

I use nova and greenify : in the nova settings I make sure that a double tap hibernate apps and turn off the screen (with greenify option in nova). I also use the alternative screen off mode in the greenify settings.
So when I double tap, the screen turns off, and then I can unlock it directly with my fingerprint

If you use double tap to wake the normal way and have unlock issues go to:
Settings / device security / other security settings (at the bottom) / device administrator
Untick nova launcher and try to lock it with double tap.
It should now ask you if you want to do it with root.

If you want a minimalistic look the only app I know is KLWP.
But it won't be the same.
The last advice I can give you if you find nothing with the search is post your question in the Apps section http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games.
There are a hundred times more people around.

What is the Best launcher with cool transitions
Could try nova launcher lawn chair and ruthless those are the only ones I can think of I know there are more
Nova, by far
Lawnchair beta 4. Everything else is just overhead imho.
Anyone running nova on the march update? I saw mention of a fix for animations or something similar when using 3rd party launchers. I wonder if they fixed the issue of not being able to use split screen with 3rd party launchers IF you have animations disabled.

I think you're hitting on what I said. The Nova developers replied in the nova thread here on XDA that this break is on the android side. Any third part launcher will not allow for split screen if animation duration scale is set to "off" or "0." This is ridiculous and google needs to fix it. There is a mention of fixes with third part launchers in the march update change log. I double it has to do with this specific issue, but I can hope.
I was using Microsoft Launcher for quite some time. Then switched back to Nova. There really is no competition.
Anyone who is used to the triple launch actions (tap, swipe up and swipe down) for every icon on homescreen would find it very difficult to switch to another launcher. I like to keep my home screen clean and uncluttered, and this feature helps me launch 36 apps with just 2 rows of apps (6 in each), including the dock.
Ofcourse, there are so many other features. I can't imagine how people use stock launchers on their devices.

It is a feature available with Nova launcher when you long press on any app icon. You'll need the Prime license for swipe actions though.

ah, i see. What are your swipe actions? It looks like the swipe actions are launcher/OS action like open quick settings though...so for example you have a swipe up action on photos set to open, say, your messaging app? That seems goofy. what's the utility of that? that'd be a lot of stuff to remember: swipe up on photos to open messaging, swipe right on photos to open facebook, swipe down on settings to open brace browser, etc.???
If the swipe actions did things internal to that app like a swipe up on photos opened a certain folder or that app's settings that might make sense. Maybe I'm not understanding correctly.

Swipe actions can do a whole lot of things such as launching an app, launching a shortcut provided by an app (such as launching a contact, conversation, composing an email, running a backup, etc.), launching a system activity, etc.

what version? I'm on the 8.0.3 beta. Turning animation duration scale means you can't use split screen in the app drawer. A nova developer addressed this issue here on XDA, confirmed it, and said it's an android issue. It will work if animations are enabled. Are yours enabled?
I was on Nova for a long time. From the past couple of years I've been in Niagara Launcher. It fits my needs. Here is a screenshot of the launcher on my device

I've used Nova for years...won't use anything else. But, I set my animations to .5x in developer mode, so I don't see any "cool transitions".
