Question X3 Pro bricked out of nowhere - Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro

phone did not exhibit any symptoms of anything inside dying - there were no random restarts, no high temperature, no artifacts on screen, nothing of that sort, it was a 100% perfectly working POCO X3 Pro
I set the phone aside after browsing Twitter, went to sleep, woke up two hours later to a completely dead phone (it was fully charged).
now when I try to power it on, nothing happens, no vibration, no LED, black screen, the phone doesn't respond at all
when I connect it to my PC, it shows up as qusb_bulk_cid:0404_SN:64B80D6C, but nothing else happens.
what should I do to revive it? it's out of warranty already, I bought it when it released here in Poland.
I can't afford to take it for a repair, so I need a solution that will work at home, of course if that's even possible.
thanks

Maybe try EDL method, lots of guides on xda and other websites.

please elaborate, what's the EDL method? isn't that something that's only available to authorized MI accounts? that's what I gathered from doing research when my phone kicked the bucket

May I ask as to what variant of Poco X3 Pro you have?

it's a 6/128 model with NFC, released in Poland in March 2021, manufactured in Beijing, China
that would make it vayu, right?

If the device was purchased within the EU, you have a two-year warranty. I wouldn't mess around with the device myself, but contact the dealer or manufacturer.

The warranty card can say what it wants. If the device was bought within the EU then you are entitled to it for two years.

If you bought it in EU, you have 2 years of warranty. They can't just slap a sticker on the package that says "1 year warranty" and enforce it, you are protected by EU laws, send it directly to service centre, cut the middle man that is the seller, quicker this way.

No. You can void your warranty if you damage internal parts of your phone by opening it or actually messing with HW itself, but even then, they would have to prove that it was you that damaged it. If you just opened the back of the phone, you are fine. It's the same **** that vendors that sell prebuilt PCs put a sticker on the case that says 'warranty void if opened", not legal, not enforcable.

right, thank you. I unscrewed things in preparation for trying to heat the chip up, I saw that being the solution on youtube, but ultimately didn't go through with it, so I just put everything back together. no internal damage, everything is just as it was before.
the other issue is - if I send it for repairs, my data is gone, correct? I'm seeing several threads that talk about using tools like https://github.com/bkerler/edl or https://github.com/nijel8/emmcdl to dump partitions, but to be honest, I can't make heads or tails of it. I REALLY want to preserve data if possible

Yea, your phone will be wiped and back to stock, don't know what's wrong with it, maybe your entire motherboard was shorted or something, that might have damaged the data as well, I would just consider it gone.

Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) is bugged and thus causing your hardware to fail. As i read throughout the discussion, just send this to your service center and get the hardware replace. FYI, you already lost your data, and replacing HW require you to wait before unlocking again and doing all this.
Sorry for your lost. Ive been there too

this happend to me too, but my services centre is a scam they void warrenty by saying this phone is water damage and will charge 100$ for mainborad replacement.
the phone deteced by mi flash tool in edl mode but i can not flash because i dont have xaiomi authorize account. and can not find firehose file for poco x3 pro.
i wonder flash in EDL can bring it back to live or not or it actually hardware problem that can not fix untill change mainboard?

[Q] Nexus Screen gets colored pixel snow

I have a nexus 5 rooted with stock rom and kernel and stock recovery+ xposed+GravityBox and some other xposed modules.
this happened sunday and again today.
I unlocked the screen and then the screen looked like that:
even on reboot the screen still was with the pixel snow
and after a few minutes of locking and unlocking repeatedly the screen turned OK again.
couldn't find a lot of information online.
does anyone knows why has this happened?
has someone experienced this kind of failure?
any advice?
thanks.
It's a hardware failure. Most probably the screen or the Flex cable went bad. It can only be solved by replacing it.
Definitely a hardware fault.... Had exactly the same screen on my n86 when the repair guyz told me that flex cable was damaged...
thanks..
the problem is I bought the phone on ebay and had it sent to my uncle who was in the states for a business trip and then he brought it to me when he finished his trip.
I'm not from the US so I don't know who should I complain to :\
sending it back to the US and **** will take a lot of time and probably money

Totally depends on the device's IMEI. If the IMEI if not of the country you're residing in, warranty goes out of the window. In any case, you need to send it in to get it fixed whether it's under warranty or not.

[Q] Nexus 5 - no signal after water damage!

Hi! My Nexus 5 got water damaged during a hiking trip. When I came home I disassembled and reassembled it, and it started working. However, what I found out was that the phone got no signal to the cellular network. The carrier name shows up, and when I boot the phone, it ask me for PIN-code (which is accepted). When I go into settings where I can select which carrier I wan't to use, it shows all the carriers available, but I can not connect to any of them. Hope you understand my problem and thank you for all help
PS: Also, NFC does not work.

Or just buy a new cover for 25$ with NFC antenna ...
try reassembling the antennas or replacing them they are kinda fragile if you bent em'
MAYBE your in for a 100$ but it's worth tring it last time I check 16gb was still 350$ why not save one if everything else is working but two servicable glitches?
Edit: btw. warranty was void the moment it got soaked before the dissasembly/re part!
When it comes to water damage...and something doesn't work after....to me its not worth messing with. You may have other issues you've yet to discover as well.
Time for a new phone. Why spend a bunch of cash just to end up realizing its a lost cost.
Just me 2 cents. ?

Honor 8 Stuck in Reverse Charging Mode

For about a month now my Honor 8 will only charge when powered off. The rest of the time it doesn't recognize when a USB is connected. (I've tired three different cords)
I just discovered in the setting, it is permanently set to reverse charging and won't let me select any other option other than reverse charging.
Factory reset has changed nothing
Easiest option is to contact huawei support and get a replacement. Unless you try flashing stock rom again
I also would get the charger replaced alone with the phone.. May be the charger at fault and the phones gone into some. Kind of protection mode...
Same problem

Having the same issue with my honor 8. Anyone found a fix for this reverse charging issue?

Yes. I use the stock charger only. Mine will return to normal when i reboot the phone or if i plug in the charger. But the reverse charging status will again activate after couple of hours.

Anyone ever find a solution to this nightmare? It hit my Honor 8 about a week ago and I'm so mad at Honor. I had to go out and purchase a new phone because it was hit and miss whether it was going to take a charge or not. I assume I'll have to send mine in under warranty but was really hoping someone found a way to fix this software issue so I could just return my Moto Z Play. I'm happy of course that mine is still under warranty but seriously, who can send their phone in and then go without for who knows how long honor will keep it. They left me no choice so it seems this is quite common. That being said, honor should automatically send out a new replacement device and only then should we send our defected software phone in to them. Anyone please let me know if you have found a fix for this before I jump through hoops to send my device off for warranty. Thanks.
This is now a common old thing

Hii
I think you should not wait and loose evan more of your warranty period
Becouse it is now several months old thread and nobody found and solution
Let us know what thay told you and if you got an replacement for the phone at all
That way you could also help someone with some issues too
:highfive:
I do plan to return mine to Huawei Honor and I believe they are located in Texas. I'm located in Mississippi so I'm not that far from them. I have no clue as to how long they will keep it but I will indeed report back to this thread with what ever they end up doing for me on my device. They want a picture of my receipt too along with several pics of the phone. I have no problem giving the pics of the phone but I don't know where even to begin looking for my receipt. They should be able to use the IEMI number and track the when the day it went in use and there is their receipt proof of the day I purchased it. Hopefully this company will take care of me but I'm already out $400 dollars. There isn't really anything they can do now to replace my money and totally win my 100 percent loyalty back. Before this every piece of mobile tech I owned was Huawei. Not anymore bc I use Moto Z Play now because they would not send me out a replacement after I told them I cannot go without a phone.
Hii @Dconn1975
Just one thing..take some pictures and also some of the screenshots for yourself too
Couse I just few days ago had been reading that one Honor 8 owner send it to the service..
And they had told him that thay took apart the phone and found out that it had been in some kind of water
couse after opening the phone there was a green spot coused by water on the motherboard
And they did not change the phone for him
The owner knew it can not be that way so he got the phone back and than let his friend
disassemble the phone.. they did not found anything on the motherboard what they did tell him
So long story short they also lied to him and did not give him any replace
He is now here on xda asking what to do now..
So be carefull .. take some pictures of the phone.. evan some screenshots..
Just in case they come up with something and saying you void your warranty and
they wont replace your phone...
Good luck
Still no DIY fix for this issue? Sigh. Honor 8 will be my first and last Huawei phone. Won't buy this huawei **** anymore
Sent from my LG-H990 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yeah as much I have praised honor Huawei I now am done. I have to send mine back as they won't send me a replacement and who in this entire world can seriously now go without a phone. I've even won contests and free cell phones on Android central for my articles on EMUI. That's a shame too. I absolutely love EMUI and personally I do not in any way think it's anything like Android. The entire feel and experience is just that different. EMUI is 10 times smoother than Android and it's not choppy nor sticky. It has zero lag time and it can easily or could be branded as a third mobile tech software choice in addition to Android and IOS. To be honest since I went out and bought a Moto Z Play, I even doubt I'll bother sending mine in after reading the after sales stuff that Huawei does not stand behind. Plus they've cost me $399 so I'm super angry and I may have won some article contests but I can do that with another company too. I'll miss EMUI no doubt but not from what I read their after sales commitment.

Hello everyone, I have the same problem. I can charge my device by choosing charge only option and connecting the USB cable just after.
If you look at the menu showed in the notification bar it is similar to the menu option, something like USB configuration, in the developer settings. If you don't see the developer settings you have to activate them. But it is not the same menu, there is no reverse charge option. Could it be a hidden menu?
I have tried to delete the settings app data, but it hasn't helped.
Hope it could help someone to solve this issue.
usb reverse charging flickering
Im having problem with usb icon for charging is flickering. When i swipe notification screen down and tap on the notification of it it says reverse charging. When i connect charger it is ok. but when no usb cable it keeps flickering. Is there an app that disables usb entirely? The usb connector is clean and i got my honor 8 about 10 months and it started like week ago. Maybe an update to emui?. If we could just block reverse charging option that would be great.

OP here:
So I never figured out a fix for this. I contacted Honor they were going to warranty my phone, but I had to mail it to the warranty center from a US address ( I live in Canada). So I contacted my retailer Newegg and they were awesome to deal with. I sent them my old phone (they covered shipping) and they mailed me a new one. So if this happens, I think warranty is your only option.

Thanks it does work. But this such an annoying . Tho Good to know its not a hardware defect.

hard brick - any hope?

So, I flashed my S8+ onto BatMan-Rom today with no apparent issues. Clean flash, booted with no problems. While restoring apps (not system data) with Titanium Backup, my phone's screen switched off and I couldn't get it back on. The phone got really hot but would not reset with holding power+vol+bixby or any other button combination. Tried plugging into my PC, ADB didn't detect the phone. Desperate, I disassembled the phone far enough to disconnect the battery from the mainboard and then reconnect it, hoping that would force some kind of reset. Instead, I went from a hot phone I couldn't do anything with to a cold one. No button combo gets me anything - no recovery, no odin mode, nothing. Am I as screwed as I think I am? It seems to me I'm out $900 on a paperweight, and I can't even figure out what went wrong since I wasn't messing with anything at the system level when this happened.

Oh, dude...I feel your pain....wish I could help.
Can't you just contact the retailer and sort of, ahem, forget to tell them that you rooted it and took it apart and that it just, well, simply broke?
Surely there's some kinda warranty?
Or claim on home contents insurance?
Sorry i can't be more help..but hopefully some of the XDA experts will be replying very soon.

You're proposing fraud, which is a form of theft. And ultimately, it's all the other customers who subsidize such acts.
What we customers are subsidizing is Samsung's greedy bull**** of producing different versions of a product specifically so they can get away with not offering warranty coverage for unlocked/rooted devices in North America. If there were a way for me to game the system to force them (or a retailer) to replace my phone, believe me, I would, especially since this happened when I was restoring apps and not in the course of flashing a rom or otherwise messing with anything at the system level; it does feel like a defect in the device to me at this point.
That's all academic though, since I'm outside the retailer's return window and there's not going to be anything accomplished through that angle. Worst case scenario at this point is selling the device for parts and going back to my Nexus 6P with all its battery issues until I can get my hands on a phone made by a company that doesn't pull this "no warranty for power users" crap - an Essential Phone or a Pixel 2 XL, I guess. But I would of course prefer to find a way to fix my S8+. At the moment I think the first problem is that it's not charging - battery doesn't even get warmer than room temperature after being plugged in for hours. I'm going to try a wireless charger tonight and see if the charger lights up saying it's connected to the device, but I'm not holding out much hope.
I've read that previous Galaxy devices could be reflashed to stock with special USB devices that repair shops had access to...do we know if there's anything like that with the S8?
"Power users" amount to nothing now with all the millions sold and billions made. They make more locking down there stuff. Doing the stuff we do now is considered a security risk.
Look, this is getting off topic. Whether or not you think billion-dollar corporations should be able to artificially create situations that drive certain customers to purchase devices without warranty coverage so they can ignore us when things go wrong and make another easy $800 is not really important. The situation I'm in is what it is, and I imagine others might find themselves in that situation sooner or later, so does anyone have any ideas on a) how this might have happened in the first place or b) what I might try in the way of repairs, short of replacing the mainboard?

just sent it to change/repair using ur garant...it seems a phisical problem more than firmware/software issue...if not go to a repair service so they can check wich piece is making the problem.
Theres a posibility is the mainboard so dont waste more time asking here and go to a repair center in or out of warranty.

Ghost touching (phone doing random things by itself)

Hello, yesterday I received my phone. For the first hour it was working fine. But later, when I locked the phone I couldn't enter my password or shut down because phone started touching random things by itself. Did a factory reset but after that I can't even setup the phone because it doing random things by itself. Tried to discharge the phone and leave it overnight. But the next day it was the same story. I even peeled of screen protector but no luck. I think it's not system related issue, might be that I got the faulty one with bad touchscreen? Has anyone had this issue?
Mine doesn't has any touch issues. Seems a manufacturing defect, better off exchanging/returning it.

The problem is that I bought it overseas and returning it back would take very long because of the corona I"m wondering what's the problem could be, touchscreen or something more serious like motherboard. If it only screen I might change it by myself
Return it under warranty. The second you open it that is gone and if the problem persists, then you are screwed...
Not only have you lost the purchase price of the phone but the cost of the replacement screen too which generally aren't cheap...

Idk, just randomly. I was using it for about an hour. Locked the phone for about 5min. And after that I couldn't enter my pin and read fingerprint because phone started randomly touching screen. I can't even shut down the phone screen is always on until battery discharges.

from where is your phone region? it can happen from many possibilities. maybe from the kernel. You can try to flash using miflash according to the firmware region.
or try to enter stock recovery, is it random touch or not. (vol + & power)
new phone is still a warranty, it's good to go to a xiaomi service center
My case was, when the phone was brand new power button was stucked . But after using it few times, everything was fine. It didn't happen again

My unit is a little more than a month old, and it started doing the same thing right now (about 10 minutes ago) randomly, while I was videochatting with someone. Did anyone solve this issue?

In my case it was faulty digitizer, after replacament everything is fine. I bought it overseas so no international warranty, but seller refunded me half the price. I went for the screen replacment and after that everything works fine.
