LineageOS or One UI for S7, S7 Edge Exynos - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi.
Which would you recommend out of the two?
Which version is most stable?
Can ODIN be used to flash the ROM onto the S7 and Twrp? I've used ODIN before but I have Rooted a phone and have not used TWRP.
Do I need to ROOT the phone? I'm a NOOB at this and any help would be highly appreciated.

[Q] root 5.1.1 g920f using unikernel

Hey, I want to flash twrp and unikernel on my 5.1.1 BOFJ galaxy s6 g920f but I don't know really how, can I flash twrp without root and then flash Unikernel with twrp?
Someone used this and can explain me how?
I believe there are plenty of posts of how to do it.
First unlock bootloader on 5.1.1. Then the order doesn't pretty matter much. Get latest TWRP on their official hompage (tar) and unikernel and flash them through ODIN.
I did first Unikernel and after TWRP, worked just fine.
You don't even need TWRP, just flash or OTA to 5.1.1 and then flash a new kernel into the phone and you're done.

Rooted S6 G920F rooted on 5.1.1, upgrade to 6.0.1

Hey hoping someone can just help answer my question on flashing my phone.
Currently I have a rooted G920F S6 running 5.1.1.
What I want is a bloatware free minimalistic ROM, so I chose to install is XtreStoLite 3.3.1 FINAL Marshmallow Android 6.0.1,
Do I have to update the firmware first? I tried with Samsung smart share but it freezes everytime I try to use the program.
Any help be great
Is your current software version an official Samsung one? For android 6.0.1 you need a custom kernel for your S6. Find one that supports the 6.0.1 bootloader and then a custom recovery like TWRP.

Hey mazwi thanks for the reply. Yes it's the official stock one running 5.1.1.
Phone is rooted and twrp installed I just wanted to be sure I could install the rom straight away without anything else.
Any advice on this kernel be glad great help?
To flash successful a 6.0.1 rom
First you need to flash modem and bootloader that are compatible with MM using odin.

Second make a factory reset
Third flash the rom
Fourth Enjoy your new rom
As for the kernel it will work 100% with the stock but arter's kernel in my opinion is the best.
*flash the kernel after the rom

Updating Bootloader and Baseband

Hello,
I'm pretty new to roms. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge G935F and want to install The King of Nougat rom. In the install instructions it asks that I install the new bootloader and baseband. I just rooted this phone and installed twrp and it is still on the stock firmware Nougat 7.0. My question is if I update the bootloader and baseband will it affect the my backup of the stock firmware if I restore back? Also will it affect any other roms i decide to install in the future or do all other roms come with their own bootloaders and basebands? Any advice is very much appreciated.
Thanks

Oreo Custom ROMs on Canadian W8 variant - Anyone successful?

Given that the Oreo S7 update has now been delayed, I've been trying to flash a variety of the custom BTU and Note 8 ported ROMs on my Canadian W8 variant. Every single one I've tried will put me into a bootloop or hang at the S7 logo. I feel like I must be doing something wrong and would appreciate any help if possible.
I'm currently using the Superman Nougat ROM v2.5.0
I've tried the following steps:
Doing a full wipe - Reboot to TWRP - Wiping everything except SD - Reboot to TWRP
Installing each ROM either using AROMA or flashing no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip then installing the zip for the ROM and/or flashing Magisk-v16.4(1642) and/or SuperSUv2.82
I've chosen both updating the bootloader and modem and NOT updating the bootloader and modem, but no difference. I've tried all different combinations above and I've tried flashing stock via ODIN beforehand.
If anyone has had any success with flashing any of the Oreo ROMS out there on the W8, please let me know which ROM you are using and what steps you've taken to flash successfully. It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Updates?
I am running W8 on Alex DevBase ROM 5.8 (WAS running)
I Odin flashed back to Oreo stock tho recently.
Best of luck.
You need to update to oreo with odin first
Just flash stock oreo, install twrp.
After that you gonna be able to use oreo rom.
I'm on superman 3.0.1 right now.
I'm using Resurrection Remix on the W8 S7 right now.

I did flash stock Oreo via Odin (lost root)
I CAN flash TWRP but getting root is where I run into problems. What am I doing wrong?
I did find that Dev OP from Superman posted an updated TWRP specific for Oreo S7 maybe I should try that one?

How would i go about installing stock rom on S7 Edge using TWRP with SAMOBILE files?

Hi, as the title says im looking for a way to keep TWRP while i install the newest stock room for my specific version of the S7 Edge.
I already downloaded the 2GB zip file from sammobile, but that files are made for the Odin installer, and if i install it trough Odin i am guessing TWRP will go away.
tl;dr: Im looking for a way to have MAGISK hence TWRP and newest stock for my specific version of the S7 Edge

The only way you're going to flash any kind of stock firmware while keeping TWRP is if someone has conveeted your stock firmware into a flashable.zip that can be flashed in TWRP. If there is not a flashable .zip available, you wont be able to do what you're trying to do.
The only other way to flash stock firmware is to use Odin or mobile Odin and they will both remove root and TWRP.
Typically, Samsung devices that are rooted and have TWRP can only update the stock firmware via Odin, mobile Odin, Kies or SmartSwitch. This removes root and TWRP which means those users have to root their device again and flash TWRP again.
