XGODY A90 Pro; Root and Anglicise? - General Questions and Answers

I have had to get hold of a phone, rapido and cheapo - which meant me having to bypass a replacement iPhone option;
Now I have purchased for just a pony a Chinese XGODY android phone, which works - however I am having many issues rooting it and anglicising the rom/recovery/bootloader. And of course updating the OS; it says it's running 10, but as far as I can tell that is BS, it is running either 5 or 6 - lollipop or marshmallow.
Now I need a little advice on what to do to put a newer OS on it; or preferably put a linux based OS on it
NB. I run Linux mint, but also have a vmware win11 I can spin up;
Ps. I do also have OTG connector
Any advice would be great; I have reinstalled devices before, HP Touchpad from WebOS to Android, using Cyanogennod and TWRP; but am stuck on this Chinese bugger; there doesn't even seem to be anything about it on web or forums anywhere;
Thanks for your comments/advice

[Q] Cheatman's Asus T100 Magic Stick on HP Stream 7?

Cheatman put together a great tool for running Android and Ubuntu off a memory stick on an Asus tablet. Should it work on any tablet, x86 or x64? I tried it on my HP Stream 7 (x64) and was actually able to bring up Android, but then it would eventually freeze up after a few minutes or less. There were a couple of ominous error messages as soon as the bootup started, including an ioremap error (see attached screenshot). I got my Stream 7 as a gift, but would much rather have Android running on it than the Windows 8.1 it came with.

Hi,
Did you get any solution to this? I've tried multiple build and always have the same freeze issue.

I tried version 1.5 and got all the way to Android running on the tablet, but it still freezes randomly and I can't download any apps. Too bad, because it looks great otherwise.
Yep, same thing.
Tried also directly the new Android x86 4.4 R3, but same issue
I assume the freeze on boot after grub is according to 32/64bit.
Regarding Android-IA Kitkat is 64bit Kernel with 32/64bit userspace.
Therefore Kernelpanic on 32bit Atom.

Note Pro 12.2 - Fully Running Windows 10.

Hello All,
I know this may be a long shot, but at CES this week Samsung announced the new TabPro S running Win10. I got curios and saw my Note Pro with a huge screen and thought... "What if there's a way of getting Win10 running on my NotePro". So here i am, I've spent the better half of the night till morning searching the internet for a blimp of something related and came up with nothing. So im here today to ask:
1. Is it possible to boot Win10 on the NotePro?
2. How can i determine if it can or cannot?
3. Whats needed to make it work?
4. Find the blocks preventing it from working and find a way around it or thru it.
Would be cool to make it dual boot. Have it ask you "Android or Windows?" When it turns on. Lets make this happen!
The desktop version of Windows 10 does not support ARM, so it isn't possible. Windows 10 Mobile is designed for ARM but I would say that there is no way to get that version to boot either. And I don't think there is any reason to even try, as Android is really superior to Win 10 Mobile.
When you say Win10 mobile, do you mean Win10 IoT (Internet of Things)?
I know IoT is compatible with Raspberry Pi 2 and Arduino devices, I wonder if someone works on it, it could be installed on android tablets and phones...

Running android as a PC

Hi all, i love android as a system and find working with a tablet when posting on Instagram and Facebook etc for my business is really good however a little difficult and time consuming copy and pasting stuff etc etc, with a PC a big screen and mouse and keyboard life is so much easier.
I have downloaded Android x86 7.1 for PC but having trouble getting it on my already dual boot mac running windows 10 as well, i dont like running within windows as just not smooth, and have tried the Remix OS which works great but i see no more updates as the project had died.
I have purchased a Q box new quad core 2gb 32gb and just changed the loader and had to use a dpi software as everything was huge!!! i got text set as minimum and the display resolution at MAX!! it looked ok but ran so bad and jumpy.
So now looking at getting a mini PC or something stand alone but just needs something that will be smooth and easy to run Android, anyone done this or can offer advise please. If you have it running well what spec pc is best etc etc.
I use to have an old Asus transformer prime which was good but i think old now and if i remember correctly was running kit kat.
Thank you in advance.

Is rooting and/or modifying my tablet worths the trouble?

Hello everyone i have a question for you that will make a choice for me to root/modify/upgrade (or whatever you guys doing) my tablet or just leave it alone.
First of all i have a Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition tablet running Android 4.0.4. I have software and hardware experience on pc windows and linux but not so much on android.
My main problem with my tablet is its running Android 4.0.4 and when i tried to install apps (especially multimedia apps like netflix , bein connect and youtube) it says my device is not compatible. And in general my tablet feels slower to when i bought it first time about 5 years ago.
My questions are;
1-Would i be able to upgrade android to newer editions at least android 5.0.0? I am asking this because my phone has android 5.0.0 and i have no problems with apps as of now.
2-If i root/modify android can i run apps like netflix and youtube or there are more problems waiting?
3-Would modifying help the speed of tablet or would it slow it down even more? Like trying to install windows 8 on a windows xp level of pc.
I'm asking these because i dont want to spend days just to find out it was not the answer i was looking for.
I hope i made myself clear please add any suggestion or roadmaps for a newbie like me. Thanks in advance.
Technically rooting doesn't allow you to upgrade your version of Android, it's the custom recovery you install that does. If there's a custom ROM out there that supports your old tablet it will work. Youtube is unaffected by root and I don't think Netflix is either. Finally, rooting technically could help the speed of your tablet if you change things like disabling fsync or running TRIM, but rooting itself doesn't change performance. Just be warned that there might not be a Lollipop or newer custom rom for your tablet!

Linux for Tabs

Hi all, newbie.
Is there a ROM/image, pref linux that can run on these older donated units.
sm-t113 4.4.4 Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 8 GB 7"
sm-t230nu 4.4.2 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook Edition 8GB 7"
(sort of a thin client project)
Just need them to have wifi, touch, screen, audio and a browser.
Goal is kiosk mode browser with duplex audio streams to a PI4.
Alternative is to lock it into VNC of the PI4. but would really like audio.

Hi, it isn't that easy to use linux on these tablets. You should try to port halium (https://halium.org/), but I think it's very difficult. Not impossible, anyway. I've never tried it.

Thank you.
I was able to root one of them (Tab4), can't get the Tab3 to root. (I think MDM/odin is locked, comp doesn't even see it as a device both in linux or windows. It's like the USB port is just a power charger..tried different cords, ports, even os's.)
Anyways I was about to put linux on the one and it appears that it runs the linux like a virtual machine, [like a hyperv/virtualbox] using VNC to see the virtual computer... in my case I have a Pi4 that it's getting data from, so can just go direct vnc to it and skip linux on tab. I really wish there as a VNC with full duplex audio (mic sent to host, and host sound to client speakers)...or full android vnc/audio thin-client project.

To be honest, I'm not really knowledged in that. I just told you the way to run linux natively. But I think it's way better to use old laptops to run pure Linux.
Halium is a mainstream kernel project, and that would be too difficult as we dont have that much kernel support. Our best bet would be postmarketOS as someone booted it on the 10.1 (VERY broken. not even a working display) and the 7.0(not as broken, but has more to fix)
You can set up your USB for File exchange on Lineage OS 14, I will check which version I have , but I can confirm that the OS Lineage 14 that works for Samsung Galaxy Tab E-Lite T113SU works perfectly on the Samsung Galaxy Tab E-Lite T113. Everything works for the Tablet except for offline charging and the camera. If you are getting a red exclamation mark in the upper left corner and it wont boot , this means that your battery if totally flat. To get around this use the TWRP recovery after it has been plugged in for 5 minutes , then go into recovery mode, don't do anything but let it sit and it will charge right up to 100 percent, then reboot. This fixed everything on mine. Note to the developer of this kernel, I can load you mine and a Galaxy S4 plus a Galaxy Grad Prime for development work. I don't often use them, I also have an HP ElitePad 900 for loaner (Those I can get lots of with power supplies, batteries are shot but they work). I do have a contact that has lots of phone, tablets etc, I can get most of the older stuff for development work. Russ Campbell.
