IN2013 - latest update just killed my phone, should I downgrade or use a custom rom? - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

Hey~
So its been a while since I've updated my device to android 12, build number IN2013_11_C.16
and its just buggy in basically any aspect, making the phone very annoying to use
When I was on android 11, the phone was perfect and everything worked fine.
What would be the best approach? I use banking apps and Gpay daily in my everyday life so its very important
Rolling back to android 11 - if that's possible (?) would be my best option original rom will keep the google pay and banking apps working right>?
If rolling back to previous firmware is not possible then
Using a custom rom with Gapps could work? - I think I've seen somewhere lineage os with Gmicro apps, will it work with Gpay since its not an "original" rom ?
Really appreciate the help guys, its been a few years since I've played with phones firmware and as I can see stuff' changed.

If you've never flashed a custom ROM, I would recommend you just roll back to Android 11.
Luckily, Oneplus offers an official package that let's you downgrade back to Android 11 from C.16.
THIS is the official Oneplus thread for the C.16 update. On that page, there is a .zip package you can install to rollback to Android 11. The page also includes pretty detailed instructions, pretty easy to follow.
On that forum post, look for the section "Rollback guide—via Local OTA update"
If you want to try a custom ROM though, I recommend HavocOS for Android 11, or Nameless AOSP for Android 12. Those are the best ROMs in their respective category in my opinion. AICP also looks promising it needs a few fixes but I believe in our savior semdoc

How easy would it be to compile a LineageOS 13 rom for this phone?

I'm looking to buy a cheap, but still good Android phone, and the Exynos Galaxy S7 fits the bill, but there's one small issue.
There's no LineageOS 13 roms, but I looked around, and discovered this page https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/herolte/build
It says you can only build off of a CyanogenMod 14.1 build, but that's Android 7.1.x, not 6.0.1.
Is it possible for someone like me with no experience to create something like this that doesn't exist?
A lot is possible if you want to put in the time and effort. Not sure why you need Android 6 though. Stock firmware was updated through 8.

Just want to use the CyanogenMod Theme Engine
Maybe port the features you want and not an entire OS build? Sometimes it isn't that hard to make something compile in a similar environment.

The Most Stable Rom Experience for XT1642

Hello everyone,
I have been Moto G4 Plus XT1642 user for more than 3 years. It has always had ghost screen problem but that doesn't bother me much since I am not a heavy phone user. I remember that my phone was working fine with no problems when I first bought it with original rom. Later I remember that I used Lineageos for this phone model(athene) for a while. At that time Lineageos releases was hit or miss because of the some bugs from that particular release. However it was mostly stable releases.
I used Lineageos till the offical support ended(end of 2018). However latest releases was not stable for me because of the random crashes and reboots.
Because I was unsatisfied with latest Lineageos releases I started to look roms on this forum. I used unofficial Lineageos 14.1, 15.1, ArrowOS 9 and official Motorola's Android 8.1. All these roms had the same problem for me. Random reboot out of nowhere. Some also had notifications bugs etc.
What I want from a phone is basic phone functions, maps and whatsapp and browsing ability in case of emergency and no Google spyware running in the background eating my ram and data plan. So I don't use Google Apps Suite. I recently remembered that I was using Lineageos 14.1 without any issue beginning of 2018. So I searched on the internet and found a release named: lineage-14.1-20180122-nightly-athene-signed.zip
I installed this with Team Win Recovery Project. Again I skipped Google Apps Suite. I manually download apks from apkmirror and install my apps. Since starting to use this version of Lineageos I have not had a single reboot or crash. That is why I wanted to share here with you guys, for people like little requirements from a phone like me but want a stable phone that doesn't reboot when you receive an important call.
You can download the rom here (It seems like I can't post links because I have just registered to post this):
Go to anonfile dot com and add N6MeteP4nb to the end of the url
or here:
Go to gofile dot io and add ?c=vdDl9p to the end of the url.

For me, the best is Oreo at the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
I am looking for a very stable ROM as a daily driver for some older person that will be using Moto G4+.
I tried stock Nougat and Oreo but there was too much Google bloatware and it looks like Lineage OS runs better (at least for me).
I tried also Lineage OS 15.1 but it have some problems with SELinux. I tried most recent LOS 14.1 build with December security patch and it looks the best for me. Unfortunately it probably won't get any further security updates...
Is there any other alternatives for LOS 14.1, that will be stable and up to date and also simple and hassle-free for an older user?

Hi, do you consider that the LOS 14.1 build you tried is stable? What about the battery life?
I'm in the same situation as you are, I need the phone working for an older person, and stock 8.1 is a bit choppy and doesn't have the best battery life.
When I used the phone, I remember that stock Nougat worked great, but since downgrading is dangerous, i'm leaning to switch stock Oreo to LOS 14.1 (Nougat).
Thanks in advance.

Hi I find that ROM faster and more smoother than stock Oreo. I couldn't check if this LOS 14.1 is stable and bug free in every daily actions, but for now it looks very good and I didn't find any problems. Probably I will stay with this ROM as long as devs bring us updates LOS 15.1 looks a little bit heavier than previous version, at least for me.

Dude you aren't missing out a lot i got the update and installed it I can tell it's really bad battery life isn't as good as on Android 10 + so many lags and glitches here and there, even there's no option in settings for Android 11 bubbles and the bubbles aren't circle they are squares. It's so messed up.
I want to go back to android 10 if someone knows how please let me know.

Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1 upgrade

Good evening,
I restarted my old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 after a long time. However, it is now slow and I can no longer install recent apps. I like the apps I like to use are Onedrive, Word, Outlook.. Which software should I upgrade the tablet to, so that I can use Onedrive, Word apps?
I have read up a bit but otherwise I am a layman.. Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Androd 6 is the best option. But reccently there is an android 8 rom developed for tab 2. I myself haven't tried it but you can have a look at the thread here.
These are some best roms:
Resurrection remix : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQICBAC&usg=AOvVaw1PxtYepshuVJGhwILyAok1
This is the best as per my experience. Its Android 6 and also fast. It is fastest without gapps and I'll recommend don't install them since Microsft apps work without play services.
Lineage os 13 : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjABegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw0ngVERkcUHwdW6OdL7FTx8
This is another great one and works well. Again, with gapps it's slow (and mostly all roms are). Its an Android 6 rom.
Slimrom 4.4 : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw1pIY6ZrmjDiXzCAxuW-p9R
To be honest, this rom would have been the first in my list but it isn't because it's kitkat (android 4.4.4) and that means less apps support. It is faster than android 6 roms and also stable.
Last suggestion : don't go for android 7 roms. Without gapps they are as slow as android 6 roms with gapps.
If we install without gapps whats the best way to get apps like Facebook and youtube if we don't have playstore?
Idk if facebook needs gapps or not, but normal youtube will not work without them, there's things like microg and vanced.
Use aurora store to get apps from google play store without gapps.
Simple and easy all you need is fdroid store and you'll find all apps you need there including youtube apps like newpipe, libretube, etc..
Start exploring life without gapps, it's less stressful for your device and your life
can you have the stoke rom of samsung galxy tab 2 10.1 like icechream sandwhich

Good night
I know this forum is old and this topic will be somewhat forgotten, but after some hard work and tinkering that I have put into these teams, I decided to share my experiences and recommendations for their devices.
To begin with, in recent times all computers with versions prior to 6.0 and all those related to Marshmallow are becoming obsolete, adding versions such as Dhollmen, RRemix or Cyanogenmod 13, which although remarkably stable, many programs have already lost their compatibility, but very soon i found a solution for these problems.
Inquiring in the Microg forums there is talk of a native Spofing support for Omniroms, and with this in mind I decided to try the latest version of Nougat to see what result can be achieved, and since then I continue using this system that has given me so far good results.
for all devices (P31XX and P51XX) I use Anykernel created by Android-Andi: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-unified-anykernel.3484739/page-11#post-79313152
Link of the Omniroms build forums (choose your corresponding model):
Downloads for : Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 | AndroidFileHost.com | Download GApps, Roms, Kernels, Themes, Firmware and more. Free file hosting for all Android developers.
Download GApps, Roms, Kernels, Themes, Firmware, and more. Free file hosting for all Android developers.
androidfilehost.com
And for great performance use Nanodroid Microg:
Nanolx.org Downloads Archive
I flash this and at boot up active from "microg settings" all the boxes are empty.
So far for those who read it, leave your comments, finally I only have a problem that is when trying to put full screen on YouTube, which until now I have not found a solution but I can live with it.

Development Stock ROM collection?

While OxygenUpdater is pretty useful, compensating for OnePlus' support pages forgetting to share OTA downloads, it only shows the most recent version. Which can be a pain, so perhaps we should keep track. Maybe if you want to downgrade (when possible) or just see what's inside.
Note: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...oot-nord-2t-with-magisk-without-twrp.4467299/
Already has a good collection of stock `boot.img` versions.
Would love to hear from you if you're interested!

For the Oneplus Nord2T this stock rom A.15 can they be used to downgrade from Android 13 to Android 12 through local updates?
