[Non-Issue] LineageOS 18.1 Pixel 3 (blueline) - No SMS notification (LED) - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

I'm running LineageOS 18.1 (nightly 4/20/2022 no GAPPs) on a Pixel 3(blueline) with AT&T. I noticed that whenever I get an SMS text message, the LED notification light doesn't flash
or indicate a new SMS message. Is anyone else seeing this?
I do see a notification on the lock screen. I hunted around for an option but haven't found one yet.
Any comments, suggestions advice would be very welcome.
TIA

What notification light? I don't think the P3 has an LED notification light. Mine doesn't anyway.
Unless you're talking about the camera flash; there's a few apps on Play Store than can make that flash as a notification light.

Thank you for your response. You are indeed correct! There is no LED functionality with the Pixel 3. This is the first phone I've had that doesn't have this feature. I made an assumption that this basic functionality would be present and ran with it, turns out this assumption was wrong.

[REQ] Blink LED for notifications for more than 5 minutes

It's really bothersome on the EVO how LED notifications only flash for 5 minutes then stop. Would love an app that creates its own LED notification and flashes it indefinitely until viewed. I know there are other notification apps on the market, but I'd prefer one that doesn't try to create other notifications (in the bar, pop-up, etc.). Something that JUST does LED, so I can then turn LED off in Settings, would be preferable.
Also would be nice to disable the LED while charging, or to be able to interrupt it, but I have a feeling this couldn't be done through the SDK.

I'm glad you posted this gripe, I have always wondered how long it will blink the LED but never thought to stop and time the LED- I would always clear whatever alert out of habit.

I would love for someone to be able to figure out how to do that. Its just too damn bright if you are using the phone while its charging and the lights are out (for example using it as an ereader.)
I would like the LED to flash while charging for notifications, does anyone know what colors the EVO's LED can actually flash besides red, green, and orange?
I also would REALLY enjoy all of the previously noted requests. But I'd rather not root my Evo just yet...would it still be possible? (like, could this possibly just be an app?)

What are the chances of a LED notification?

It looks like the touch surface at the bottom of the device has slight translucent look about it. Might it serve as a notification LED as well?
I think the chances are good. I noticed that as well.
Also, in the video over on android central of the g4 rom running on the nexus, he mentions led notifications built into the rom. I'm not sure if he mean built into the hacked rom or the standard rom.
Hopefully there is

Problem is that development will now have to corporate that in to the roms
I can confirm that there is LED notification located just to the left of the ambient light sensor. There is also a Notification flash setting under the display settings. Flash LED light notifications optinos include: Missed call, SMS/MMS, Email, Voicemail, Reminders, and Alarms. Of course it is also used as a charging notification.

There are multiple color options. I do not know which colors are for what but I do know that emails are green.
Great now I have to decide... HD7, or myTouch 4g?
I'm kinda scared to shift to a new OS, just because it is so new that I have no idea if it will adjust well with how I use a device, however... if I get the 4g it will take forever for official updates to come to the device...
So hard... I guess I will have to try both devices at the T-Mobile store.

Definitively android. wp7 will be a flop.
I too can confirm. youtube wirefly's channel. they got a unboxing AND a small review. (the review has the notification light blinking)
Can anyone who has actually used the phone confirm that there's an LED for notifications and that it's functional? Thanks.

Are you all talking about the notification light at the top that turns on as orange for charging and blinks green for emails? If not I have no idea where this is located :/

Anybody tried LightFlow or any other apps to control the notification LED?

They work if that's what you're asking. Light Flow and Light Manager are the two I tested. Definitely prefer LF of the two.
Light manager seems to work for sms but not email. Always on also does not show email notifications. Arg!

LightFlow is not working for me. Did you enable the LED in the display settings and did you enable or disable the workaround for Samsung?
I have been emailing the dev for light manager. in order to get it to work, you need to turn on the 5.1 workaround in the apps settings and you have to let it wake the screen for notifications. then the led colors work correctly. one thing that does break is you can not longer expand the gmail notifications in the notification pull down shade. he said he doesn't have an S7 yet to test on but is getting one.
LED Blinker Work correctly
I didn't install light manager yet. I'm just using signal for SMS and changing color of LED in its settings. inbox is blue and I guess missed calls would be the same blue default. Works for now. Also charging is red by default and green I think when charged...
LED Blinker Work
my g930f led notification does not work properly. i have no white its kinda pink ish and yellow is a orange with green??? does anyone else have this problem? i have tested it with Light Flow, Light Manager, Blinker and Led Tester
i had nothing like this with my s5

Yes LED Blinker works. I have tested under S7. And many customers told me, too.
Just enable workaround 5.1.1 in app settings (its needed for Android 6, too sadly).

Same here. (With Light Manager) So it seems to be a hardware/model related issue.

Needed screen on for me too (for Gmail at least, some apps worked okay - Handcent/Whatsapp). Which I didn't really want to use but it's better than nothing at this stage.
Ah, sorry, it's Light Manager I used - I was trying a few and got confused!
Ok then what now? Do we return it to samsung and ask for a good one or just live with it??

LED Blinker works, but has the same problem that all of the other LED notification programs have....The Gmail notification icon in the status bar will not auto clear after reading email. It must be cleared manually. Light Manager does the same thing, and according to the developer, it is an issue with Android 6.0

you have to disable the light/led in all apps you use, gmail doesnt have such option, use google inbox instead.

Thanks, but I use Google Apps, with multiple email accounts, so Google Inbox really doesn't work well for my use.

LEDs?

I'm considering a Mate 9, or 9 Pro. One question I have: does it have an LED, and support multiple colors?
I use Lightflow for my notifications. Different color and/or flash rate for notifications.

Currently using Light Flow on my Mate 9. It works excellent for Huawei devices. However, since this is above Android 6.0 (being 7.0), you will need to install Light Flow Legacy if you don't want the annoying persistent icon to stay in the status bar/notification try. Light Flow Pro is what I had, but switched to Legacy (based on their recommendation within the app), and the persistent icon is gone/not needed. Everything functions great.
So far the colors I've tested that work on this LED - red, blue, cyan, yellow, white, and pink - going in between changes the color slightly or it will make the LED show nothing if it's not found in Huawei's LED hardware color range. Huawei devices are known for that. You'll have to play around with settings, but Fastest and Always On work wonderfully without error. You know how it works, so test it out to your liking.
The LED is really dim.
Hey, I tested some leds within the app but leds are not working when I recieve notifications. For example, led is set to red when charging but when I charge my phone, led is orange as a default huawei led. How to fix this?

Make sure PULSE LED is on within Huawei's main settings. Remove the charging settings - they don't work - you're better off with the stock ones. Keep everything else as FASTEST or ALWAYS ON (in my testing, they were the most consistent because Huawei decided to not implement the faster/brighter Nexus 6P LED so it fades in and out because of the stock PULSE LED. As I said before, make sure you test the colors because the LED spectrum goes from yellow-red-pink-purple-blue-cyan-green (any variation in there just relates to brightness).

You can hide app notifications under permissions, I do that for a few that have that persistent presence and they still work.

No, that only removes it from the status bar. Because it's a "persistent notification," it pops up and remains in the notification pull down when it becomes activated with every message, email, etc. This takes up space and is rather annoying. Thus, I recommended the legacy path which works 100% correctly .
Hmm, I swear when I used it before turning off notifications took care of that.

Notification Light

Is there an app that enable the light around the FFC to light up & pulsate when messages from texts, whatsapp gmail etc are received?
Yeah I'd like this option too, didn't think is miss the notification light but I do .
No LED light option
I have been investigating this as well as a couple other issues that I have been experiencing since I got my Note 10+ on Friday. There is an app in the Samsung Shop called 'Good Lock' that is reported to allow the indicator light to be added and functional. However, it appears that it was a functional option on the S10. I installed it and attempted to activate it through the AOD settings as it says to do, but it told me the device was not compatible.
I did stumble across an article prior to release that stated the Note 10's will not have the indicator light option. But this seems very peculiar as the camera ring (which is supposed to be the indicator light) lights up when it attempts facial recognition. As of right now I think it's a software problem? I am not sure. Maybe it will become available on a future update.
Try aodNotify in the Google Play store.
I am using Led Me Know and it works for me. The issue is that it really only works in the dark on the AOD screen as not very bright.
