Question Need Unlocked Firmware For ATT S908USQU2AVDI - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Having trouble finding the file to flash my att branded phone to the unlocked firmware. the phone is unlocked. i tried S908USQU2AVDJ insteadof I which was the only one that worked but then corrupted my phone and had to factory reset.

does the sim card inserted matter?

Unlocked firmware is U1 not U. Hand having sim in doesn't matter

thanksfor your help
i dont want to corrupt my phone again... settig it up again is such a pain and i thinki lost a bunch of data becayse the backup didnt get everything

5th character from the right . Will say U1 or U2. You can't go back to U1 bootloader if you updated to U2.

Flashing firmware in odin will wipe device anyway unless you use HOME_CSC instead of csc

This is bootloader

Yes

Sometimes when you go from U firmware back to U1 you will have to factory reset. So save your stuff on computer or to external SD. My opinion clean install is always best anyway. I don't mind setting everything back up that way I know all is good. But to each their own.

did u notice a difference in the unlocked firmware vs carrier firmware? i already had to factory reset cuz i messed up so i only have my google drive backup file

You can try to flash using HOME_CSC to save data instead of csc. But once flashed it may boot you back to stock recovery. If it does don't worry, you will just have to factory reset and it will boot. And if you get the Emergency blue screen don't panic you can still flash firmware on that screen.

No I did not notice a difference. My device is At&t locked. I just use ADB AppControl to debloat anyway to get rid of all the At&t crap. But no I did not notice a difference.

i think i got it brother, ty for your time.

General G996U and G996U1 Firmware Links and Flashing Discussion Here

For those who aren't already aware, G996U is the model number of all of the US carrier versions of the S21+. The G996U1 is the model number of the same device, but sold by Samsung SIM unlocked and with no carrier bloatware. Firmware is 100% interchangeable among these models: any U or U1 firmware version can be flashed to any U or U1 device at any time, assuming that you're not trying to downgrade the bootloader. A "U to U" or "U1 to U1" flash does not require a factory reset, but changing from one firmware to the other will require one. Also, U firmware is identical for the 4 base files (AP, BL, CP, CSC) for each individual build, no matter which carrier it comes from. So if you download 2 different carrier versions of the exact same build, the 4 base files will be identical. Where the firmware differs is in the USERDATA file - that's where the carrier bloatware and customizations reside.
Manual Odin flashing is designed for those who:
- want to manually update to a newer version of U firmware on their U device, either because they don't want to wait for their carrier's OTA or because OTAs aren't working on their device, or a different carrier got a new feature/patch before they did
- want to flash U1 firmware to their U device
- want to convert from U1 firmware to carrier U firmware
- want to convert from one carrier's U firmware (with all apps and bloatware) to a different carrier's U firmware (with all apps and bloatware)
For those who aren't already aware, anyone can now download firmware for almost any Samsung device any time that they want, via the various firmware download tools posted here on XDA like SamFirm or Frija. There are threads and info about them here on XDA so I won't waste time explaining - do a search if you're not already familiar with these tools. But they only provide whatever the latest/newest/current version is - nothing older. I pay for a subscription to a site that gets the official releases (usually) before they hit the firmware download tools, so that's where my files come from.
This is not a "beginner's guide to Odin flashing" -type post/thread, so I won't list basic, step-by-step flashing instructions. My threads are geared towards those who already know what they're doing. If you're new to manually flashing Samsung firmware (or haven't done it in a long time), I recommend you consult one of those "beginner's" guides- there are tons of them here on XDA.
Happy flashing!
U firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=322091
U1 firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=322092
Notes:
- DON'T QUOTE THE OP WHEN YOU REPLY, kthx
- I have lots of threads just like this one for other Samsung flagships, if it interests you. For those who have already made use of my previous threads for a different device and are upgrading to an S21, welcome back
- My zips are compressed extra small for space and bandwidth savings. The default Windows extractor can't handle it, so you'll need a 3rd party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc
- it's quite time consuming to download the files, zip them up, and upload them to AFH. And, I do threads like this for every single Sx and Note x model, so I won't be uploading every single version. The only full builds that I upload are ones where I get access to a new bootloader and/or Android version early, before they hit the firmware download tools.
- My naming method for folders on AFH is: build - bootloader - Android version
So "SAT - 1 - 9.0" means the full build number ends in SAT, it's bootloader version 1, and it's Android 9.0. When bootloader and Android versions increment, the first build to have those changes will have its folder notated appropriately.
- HOME CSC file keeps data intact; using the other CSC will wipe data. Flashing USERDATA will also wipe data.
- Since AT&T doesn't allow their firmware to be publicly available (for any of their devices), I'll try to always upload at least one USERDATA per bootloader increment for AT&T (and Cricket, if they get this model). I'll also upload any full builds if AT&T is the only carrier to get that specific build, because you won't be able to find the files anywhere else.
- For identifying USERDATAS, and to know what region/CSC to use in the firmware download tools if you're downloading yourself:
AIO = Cricket (not available via firmware download tools)
ATT = AT&T (not available via firmware download tools)
BST = Boost Mobile
CCT = Xfinity Mobile (Comcast)
CHA = Spectrum Mobile (Charter)
DSH = Dish Network
SPR = Sprint
TMB = T-Mobile
TMK = Metro PCS
USC = US Cellular
VZW = Verizon (available via firmware download tools, but Manual Entry is required - Auto will not work)
XAA = U1 firmware
- the correct procedure for switching from one carrier's firmware to another is:
1. Flash full U1 firmware package including non HOME CSC
2. Upon boot, insert a SIM of the carrier whose firmware you want
3. Watch for the popup that says "reboot to apply new carrier settings" etc, and do it
4. After that restart completes, reboot back to Download mode and flash the full U firmware package, with the USERDATA file of the carrier whose firmware you want
Initial U firmware and AT&T USERDATA are posted, along with U1 firmware. U firmware is not yet accessible in the firmware download tools like SamFirm and Frija, but if anyone wants a different carrier's USERDATA (for flashing bloatware to a U1 device or for converting a U device from one carrier's bloatware to a different one), let me know and I'll get it for you

This thread is in the S21+ forum, not the S21 forum.
This thread is for model numbers G996U and G996U1, not G991U or G991U1.
If you're looking for S21 firmware, that will be found in the S21 forum
I agree with you
Does the firmware control the SIM lock? So, can you flash the U1-XAA firmware and use say a phone purchased from AT&T on another carrier? Or do you need to do the SIM unlock before flashing?

SIM unlock always goes much deeper than firmware. Flashing U1 will never automatically unlock any model - the unlock has to be done separately. If desired, I can provide a recommendation for a professional 3rd party business to do the unlocking, for any interested users who may not meet the carrier's unlock requirement(s).
Thanks. That's what I figured, but wanted to make sure. I like to get off of the AT&T firmware as quickly as possible as you can't get their updates unless you have an active SIM in the phone.

3.14.1 patched
I don't have my S21+ yet but it will be here soon. I ordered from Samsung and selected the Verizon version as unlocked was considerably more expensive.
Does anyone know what Verizon specific bloatware the S21+ has?
Are there certain apps which can be uninstalled with the U1 version but not the Verizon U version?
Are there any potential speed benefits on the 5G network that would be lost using the U1 version, or features like tethering that won't work?
For updates in the future, would they arrive faster on the U1 version, slower, or the same?
My main purpose in flashing from U to U1 is to free up the maximum amount of space of the 128 GB while still retaining 100% of the speed and features I would have with the Verizon version.
Thank you for educating me! It's been a couple years since I flashed my Note 8.
I order a unlocked S21+ U1 version straight from Samsung and didn't have to put in any VZW info.
There is a buttload of Samsung bloatware but no VZW except fot MyVZX

XAA U1, VZW U1, stock TMB U, and I've tried the TLI U1 above and couldn't get it to work. Using google dialer, I input the codes like *#*#27262826#*#* and as soon as I type the last star it just disappears and nothing pops up. I tried with T-Mobile and Verizon sim.

Dialer codes usually don't work on VZW firmware, whether U or U1. But they almost always work on TMB and all others.

You can change csc from tmobile to att. I was able to do that using instructions from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...bands-and-services-5g-low-band-on-u1.4182293/

It is tmo locked, requested unlocking via twitter few days ago, still waiting.
Current firmware is N986USQU1BTJ4, but it is trying to push for a new update (by tomorrow morning). Dont want to get this too high and stuck.
i flashed N986USQU1DUB5 from "OTA and Non-OTA Firmware for N986U and N986U1" thread and used CSC file (instead of home csc) as my phone is blank. It did not do the factory reset/still showing tmobile only !
tried *#272*imei# to see if i can check the csc manually, but nothing happens ! - may be what @mindseye0803 already said as oneui3.1 !, will check by downgrade and see !
re flashed N986USQU1DUB5 with csc/userdata, it solved my issue, can see and enable wifi calling from at&t.

Note 20 ultra d/S firmware

I don't find note 20 ultra Dual sim firmware. Does the N986b/ds use same firmware as the N986b without loosing dual sim function? Reason I'm thinking on flashing is cause I have a xfa version and network reception is really bad and thinking on flashing btu. Do u guys think that a new firmware might help? (all other devices I get 3 bar at home and with note 20 ultra sometimes I have no network)
Check here for your required FW.
N986B is the Global Exynos model (it is Dual-SIM = DS); in case if any regions are single-SIM for this particular model (I'm not aware as such), the N986B FW will still be the same as for DS.

It's possible I think.
But..... only try other Exynos region FW (cannot flash FW for SnapDragon variants on N986B without running into problems).
Check on Note 20 threads regarding properly changing CSC.
Also, there are some .xml modification solutions that enable you to activate extra 4g/5g bands - worth a search & try.
(Sorry I don't have the links to hand, but recall seeing these discussions before on N20 XDA forums).
I'm with Three UK does this help

When you un-compress the firmware download you will get five files. Each go into a specific part of ODIN - can't mistake it - but if you want to keep data intact you will need to flash Home_CSC. This will NOT change your regional CSC however.
You also need the "hacked" version of ODIN found on this forum easily.

If I flash that 5 files will I still be able to get Ota?
When I flash should I use CSC or HOME CSC. So that I keep getting updates? I think that if I flash UK international firmware, will sort alot of my issues. It feels in my country software is never very stable.
Flashing CSC will delete your Data but flashing HOME_CSC will not delete your Data.

Once bootloader unlocked I don't think you can get OTA - You'll need to flash FW updates manually.
Flash CSC for clean install.
Flash HOME_CSC if just updating FW & need to preserve user data.

(HELP)SM-N986U1 change CSC to TMB - Enable ESIm

I have unlocked SM-N986U1 with the latest update installed (Updated with latest June update). I wanted to change my CSC to TMB (T-Mobile) so as to enable ESeim support. I tried using Samkey, wasted 1 credit too. It said CSC updated but nothing happened, my carrier still shows XAA.
Can anyone please guide me on how can I change CSC to TMB?
Thanks.

Yes you can. My device is from Xfinity and I have done the switch to any Carrier I choose on bootloader 2. U1 to U and back is doable. The key is to use the modified Odin as specified in the guide.
"
2. Download Patched Odin here
3. Unpack/Unzip what you downloaded in Step 2 (Odin Compatible ROm) and put in a folder. Lets call the folder "Flash"
4. Run Odin, click on BL, Browse to the "Flash" folder, add BL file from there, Do the same for AP (click on AP, Add AP file, this will take some time), Same for CP (click on CP, Add CP file)
5. Do the same for CSC (click on CSC, Add the file with the name starting with Home_CSC). If you use Home_CSC your phone will not get formatted and data will remain Intact
USERDATA Stays empty.
6. Now connect USB cable to your laptop (Only laptop and not the phone)>> Turn off your phone >> Press volume up and volume down keep them pressed and plug in the USB type C into your phone.
7. You should be in download mode now, press volume up. In Odin you will see that phone is added.
8. Press start in Odin. Wait for it to finish and let the phone restart (it will happen On its own).

I flashed the complete U firmware except the USER DATA file. But my Service Provider Software version is still stuck at XAA, its not changing to TMB. Though the phone model has changed to what you have in your screenshot.
Any idea what to do?

So the Model is 986U/DS ? And is eSim enabled ?. That is the state you would want to be in. I understand the last XXX in the service provider software can't be changed. Mine didn't change and stayed CCT which is for xfinity but the as you can see, I have TMB/TMB, TMB/CCT. Esim is enabled and my Mint mobile (Tmobile) number is on it and I have a foreign physical Sim which is roaming on AT&T on the physical slot.
You might be close.

Also picked this nugget up from another thread
"You have to flash full tmb firmware. Not xaa tmb but 986u tmb firmware. The esim is in the user data section you'll flash"
Others have suggested you have to do a factory reset or flash the actual CSC file not the Home CSC which means you will loose DATA. I was doing this on a phone I had not setup yet so didn't mind loosing DATA. I am also assuming you have a TMB sim card in the phone because I understand that is needed so the phone can connect to Tmobile and download the carrier data files that actually changes the CSC after a clean flash.
These are just some of the things I picked up from here when doing my conversion.

Yup I used the TMB version only. The model Number changed to 986U/DS. In About phone, it shows me the IMEI of the Esim, but its greyed out.
The only thing I dont have is the T-Mobile Sim. I think thats whats causing the issue. I will arrange a t-Mobile sim and try it tomorrow.
Thanks for all the help.

QQ: Does it has to be a T-Mobile Sim? or Mint mobile or anyother T-Mobile based MVNO should work?

Has to be a Tmobile Sim. I tried a Mint Sim it didn't work. If you are seeing the esim but greyed out, then you are close. Restart with a Tmobile Sim and you might be in business

Thanks. Let me try those.
Since the OP looks like problem solved, and not wanting to waste new thread, i have similar issues, can you help?
I have an S10e I recently broke (amazon renewed w/U1 FW), so I got another S10e from amazon, renewed which appears to also be U1 FW.
Except the latest, the replacement phone, the one I have now, NOONE can hear me, like all the time!!!!!!! Dead spots everywhere! Its so annoying. Its like i have a bad Mic? Or something...
This didn't happen with my identical phone, the one I had prior to this one, using identical sim.
I'm on Mint mobile, which is a TMO MVNO and currently have XAA/XAG FW running on the new S10e, the new one w/bad Mic or FW problem
It appears I am on U1 Unlocked USA firmware on latest phone ( i may have flashed FW Odin when I got this new one-to be safe- i forgot)
ALSO: BOTH renewed S10e's I've Purchased from Amazon, when lookup the IMEI, it shows as the AT&T Model. Which i understand the U/U1 FW can be swapped, BUT, both phones were advertised as U1 Models for the Hardware, so they sold me U models but they flashed with U1 FW probably to make more money. (this may seem trivial, but Samsung specifically has stated TWICE, that I couldn't Beta Test their last to major android FW's, because my phone shows as At&t on their end, and not the truly unlocked U1 model, for which the beta tests were for. And i was told when i purchased it was fully unlocked U1 ver. The phone itself even says its 970u1 in settings etc.)
Are there ANY hardware (including frequency bands) differences between U and U1 Models???
Is it somehow possible that my CSC, or FW on my phone is affecting my phone so badly that people cant hear me like 88% of all calls? Like should i flash different FW, or reflash or use different CSC??
Is it possible that if I went with a locked TMO FW (or another) that I could possibly, maybe get better reception so folks can hear me better? Or hear me more often or more frequently?
How often do mics go bad or get dirty on these? Can a mic be cleaned?
I have been in the other Note 20 flashing thread but I am stuck. Tried so many ways but can't get the TMB csc to stick, always shows only XAA. I have TMO sim card too. Not sure if they blocked it on the newer releases of the phone
Has anyone tried Samkey to do this? Heard it only takes 1 credit but smallest amount of credits to purchase on ebay is 10 and I dont feel like investing more money into this effort

Question Change Service Provider Software

Hi all,
I bought this phone from my friend who was using it on ATT. It is global unlocked phone and I activate and register, change new 5gsim and no problem on Verizon Network.
It is working and fine but, it shows ATT logo when phone is boot up and still it has ATT bloatware.
Under the Software information > Service provider software version is showing below
SAOMC_SM-F711U_OYN_ATT_RR_0016
ATT/ATT/ATT
SO THIS PHONE IS legit!! even Verizon told us. They did everything with me for 3 hours. wow!
Anyway, I think it's the problem of other carrier's software is in
Do you guys know how to change provider software to Verizon? should I contact Samsung??
Please help me.
Thank you!!!!!!!!

I found solutions and flash the firmware with Verizon userdata, but, still shwoing everything on ATT. Not Verizon.
I even flash with factory reset. Yes, I used Odin 3.13.1b patched and it passed...
Do you have any idea?

@iHeartslutsz https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-z-flip-3/firmware/#SM-F711U1
Whenever I flash a new software through Odin after downloading it from Sammobile, the Dark Side RC theme (I think it's related somehow to the so called Star Wars special edition) for samsung, comes as one of two default themes into the system and can not be removed. Hence, even I change the theme from setting, this iron head appears everytime I restart the phone for a few seconds. So I tried different firmwares for my country but nothing changes. So someone from another forum said that my service provider software version differs than theirs. So in short, how to get rid of this silly iron head? Any help would be appreciated.
change csc, use SamKEY (paid) or SamFwFRPTool (free), then flash frimware you need with odin with CSC file (this will wipe your phone and reset to factory), not use home_csc in odin

Thank you. I downloaded totally different firmware files with different CSC code and the problem has solved.
SamFwFRPTool is a tool I use to change my CSC software channel. The way I understand it you need to change the CSC in the program before flashing the u1 software on it so you get a full unlock as opposed to a partial one.
I might be wrong here though so don't take everything I say as being true.
