HI All,
just bought an used Nokia 8.3 thru ebay to use as 5G Modem. My idea was to connect it to a USB-C Hub with Ethernet and then connect it to my router. This Setup worked on two Xiaomi phones but this nokia was the cheapest phone with 5G I managed to find and as it was on Android 12 and had the "Tether over Ethernet" option, I went for it but when I connect the USB-C hub, it doesn't enable the option to activate it.
Does anyone have a clue on what to do?
On both XIaomi that I've tried I just had to plug and enjoy....

I just traveled to Japan last week and most hotels over there are still not big fans of wifi. So, they usually have ethernet wired rooms for internet. I tried to use my OTG to ethernet adapter to connect the ethernet connection to my Razr Maxx HD. Unfortunately, it did not work. But I noticed on the phone there are settings for the ethernet connection but they are available to make changes or selectable. The adapter that I used came from my cheap travel tablet that uses an OTG/mini usb to ethernet adapter to connect to the internet. The tablet and my laptop connected just just fine. No recognition or anything when plugging the adapter into the Razr. I would like to skip taking the tablet in the future if I can just use my phone. Or quite possibly use the ethernet connection to enable the phone's hot spot connection. I am wondering if anyone on this forum used an ethernet connection with there Razr HD and if so what is needed to get it to work? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have the U11+ but can not get my lan adapters to work.
I have an Anker AH212 with rtl8167 chipset in it. Only the hub section works.

I also have purchased just for this the Flagpowerhdmi4k/lan/usb-c hub adapter.
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B075QD1KBL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
HDMi and hub works but lan doesn't.
I also have a very old 10/100 NExus 7 noname lan-dongle that also doesn't work on my U11+.
I also tried it with RNDIS/Ethernet setting in Developer options, but to no avail.
Has anybody been able to get any lan adapter working on this phone ?

I tried to use Belkin USB-C Ethernet adapter dedicated for Macbook Pro which is working with Samsung S8, but without success.
Hi.
I used to connect a USB to Network adapter (chipset ASIX AX88772B ) to my Redmi Note 4 and all was fine, easy:
I could surf/download using a network cable.
After I switched to Note 8 Pro I wanted to do the same, but it turns out that apparently my "old" usb-Ethernet adapter is not compatible with my new smartphone.
I connected a new OTG cable (usb C to usb A, it works, tested) and then connected the old Usb-to-Ethernet adapter to it.
No way: The adapter blinks for one second and then no lights is on.
I installed "USB Device Info" app and I could read info about the adapter, e.g. chipset ASIX AX88772B .
As someone suggested me, I tried to disable the wifi, the data mobile and set it to Plane mode: it was useless.
Can please someone suggest me a USB-to-Ethernet adapter that for SURE is compatible wit Redmi Note 8 Pro?
I mean, one that you tested working flawlessly.
Thanks.
I am also in the same situation on the redmi note 8 I think it is the type c otg cable, managed to solve ??
I am using this multi device adapter with my Redmi Note 8 Pro and am able to use wired ethernet. I cannot think of any issues or problems that I have had so far with this wired usb to ethernet setup. Keep in mind, you will need to provide your own power adapter, because this usb to ethernet hub does not include one.
TOTU USB C Hub Upgraded 13 in 1 Type C Hub to 4K HDMI & DP, VGA, 2 USB3.0/2 USB2.0 - available on Amazon or eBay
Hope it helps someone.
Hi all i have been trawling through various forums. I ordered the following off Amazon and it works perfectly. Excellent Ethernet connection on my Redmi note 8.
Plugable USB C Ethernet Adapter, Fast and Reliable Gigabit Connection, Compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 7, Linux, Chrome OS, Dell XPS, HP, Lenovo : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

I think Redmi do not support and ethernet connectors using the chipset AX88772B. I specifically chose the above adapter as it uses AX88179. I suggest that any adapter that uses chipset AX88179 will work. It maybe the same for other Redmi models.
All the best.
Hello,
does anybody know a working USB ethernet adapter for the Pixel 3a?
I have tried one with ASIX AX88772A (USB 2.0) and another one with AX88179 (USB 3.0) chipset and both are not recognized correctly.
The Pixel does recognize some USB device and the ethernet adapter is powered up, but it is not possible to switch to data transfer.
I am using this and it works.

I can absolutely rule out
Alfa awus 0036nh - ralink 3070
Alfa awus 0036h - realtek 8187
Micro USb - realtek 8188e
Micro USB - ralink 5370
small form + 3db antenna ralink 5370
Although I've had great luck with gos modules I can confirm the Ublox7 / Vk-172 works well with the 3a. My GlobalSat BU-353-S4 hasn't cooperated yet. Sorry to say that gps wardriving is much more difficult but just as rewarding, if you do find a good wifi unit that works with the pixel do let us know.

It works on my Pixel 3A as well. Of course, I'm using a USB 3 to USB-C adapter. The performance is quite poor. I'm getting about 75 MBPS on a 300 MBPS internet connection. I do much better on Wi-Fi. I tried the same on a Chromebook, and the NIC worked much better on USB 3, then via the USB-C adapter. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the USB 3 to USB-C adapter, or is the nature of the beast when doing that conversion?
Have you seen the same? Which conversion adapter are you using?
Thank you
I get 89 Mbps, which is the limit of my internet connection. I'm using this adapter:

So, using the combination of that network adapter and that USB adapter, I'm getting a max of 102 MPS on my Pixel 3a. Using the same combination on a Chromebook, I'm getting 297 MBPS. Using Wi-Fi, on the Pixel, I get close to what I'm getting wifi / wired on the Chromebook.
I wonder if there is some setting on the Pixel, or a hardware limitation.
Has anyone found a way to cast or screen mirror when using USB Ethernet ?
Obviously my tv, Chromecast and fire TV are all connected to the same Ethernet network.
But every screen mirror / cast app I've tried won't work unless WiFi is connected on the phone.
The PinePhone dock worked on my pixel 3a for ethernet tethering. Sept. 22 OTA rooted [Magisk] Tethering Enabler verizon grandfathered UDP. Plugged into a switch with wifi mesh and whole home wifi works. I need a longer LAN cable to put my phone in a spot with better signal. I have not tried HDMI but I can if someone needs that.
Coming from a ZForce edition to the Z4 now that VZW has no stock to warranty swap devices anymore.
I use the USB tethering as well as USB to Ethernet adapter tethering to routers all the time as I work on the road.
My main travel router is a Asus AC68U. I have never had a problem android tethering via USB or USBC>Ethernet Belkin adapter for well over 3 years.
I am at a loss as to why it isn't working with this new Moto Z4 phone. When I use my S21 with latest fw, same android version, the router sees the phone connect over USB but that's all it does. No RNDIS established at all. Not sure why or how to fix it.
