I am trying to find out if there is a Night Mode for the SW2? I often spend nights away from home on business. I need to look at my watch during the night sometimes to check if it's time to catch an early flight. Is there anyway to switch on a Night Mode that stops the watch vibrating and stops the screen automatically lighting up with notifications?
I know I can turn off vibrate and bluetooth manually, but then I don't get notifications stored, and I have to remember to turn them back on when I want normal operation.
It would be nice to have Alarm notifications operate normally (light and vibrate), whilst other notifications come through, but don't light ot vibrate.
Anyone have any suggestions please?
Disable Bluetooth on the smartphone, it's easier.
You can set also a scheduled profile on the phone that at night turns off the Bluetooth and at morning turns it on.

One more question please... Do I need an app for schedulng this (Blocking Mode doesn't seem to control Bluetooth). And, if so, does anyone recommend a simple app for scheduling bluetooth on/off?

So I had this same problem when I first got my Z1 Compact, but it went away after a while (I'm not entirely sure how). This creates a problem if I have my phone in my pocket, as it will skip tracks, fast forward and rewind, and waste battery. Is there a way to prevent the screen from waking when the device connects to a Bluetooth device?
EDIT: Found a solution! At least for me, hope it helps others as well. My bluetooth microphone no longer works, so I went into the Bluetooth settings for the stereo and unchecked the box to use the BT for phone audio, and only left media audio checked. This seems to have fixed this issue as well, as my screen no longer turns on automatically when it's connected! I re-checked the box and it turned on like before, so it seems like that's what's causing it to wake.

Have a look at the Smart Connect app, maybe it has an event there that triggers when the bluetooth connects.
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, there were no such events under any of the Smart Connect options, and I can't even find an option to turn the screen on/off when a device is connected or disconnected.
I've tried setting the screen timeout to 15 seconds (the lowest possible), and I noticed that once the screen turns on after connecting, it never times out or turns off on its own. It was sitting on my car's dash, and I listened to a few songs without it shutting off. I even checked the timeout settings afterwards, and it was still set to 15 seconds.
Any idea what else could be causing this? Maybe Throw? I know I was able to uninstall that on my Z1C using Titanium Backup, but obviously I can't on this one since it's the T-Mobile Z3.
EDIT: So this apparently only happens when connecting to my car stereo. I just tested it with my Bluetooth headphones and the screen stayed asleep the entire time I was connecting and playing music.
I still have no idea what could be causing this, but I'm starting to think it has something to do with my stereo and not my phone. Is there any app or way I can test it? So far, here's what I've tried. Again, on T-Mobile Z3 so no chance of rooting at the moment. Screen still turns on whenever my phone auto-connects to my car stereo's Bluetooth.
1. Disabled Throw using adb shell.
2. Disabled MirrorLink using adb shell.
3. Disabled Smart Connect using adb shell.
4. Auto-connected to Bluetooth headphones and screen stays off as it should.
5. Tried with multiple apps (Shuttle+, Walkman, PowerAmp, even with all music apps uninstalled/disabled).
6. Old phone's screen (Z1 Compact) still stays off when connecting to the car stereo. It's rooted with an unlocked bootloader, maybe something in the Z3's DRM keys is telling it to wake up?
So that's where I'm at right now, not sure where I can go from here. I suppose I'll have to learn to live with it for the time being.

Do you have :Smart backlight control in "Display Settings" on? In my case that was the problem! So when the screen wakes up and i'm on the move, this setting prevents the device from auto lock.
Same issue around here mate. I got a pioneer car stereo and I set the smart connect to play music as son it connects. Every time it connects the screen turns on and I got the connection message on status bar.
Smart backlight control was off, but I tried turning it on just in case. Screen still turns on. I don't even have Smart Connect enabled right now, and I don't get any connection message when it connects. I'm thinking it has something to do with Pioneer specifically, since mine's a Pioneer as well. It also doesn't turn on when it connects to my bluetooth headphones/headset, which should be the same type of connection.
I'll try messing with some settings on my stereo, see if that does anything.
I'll try on my friends Sony stereo later and see if the issue happens.
When I connect the lg g watch the screen remains off.

I have the same isue with my zenec car radio This sucks because I can't keep my phone in my pocket while I'm driving.
It would be interesting to know if this is a general android isue or if it's only a isue from sony smartphones with stock rom. Just to narrow down possible causes...
I also have this issue with my Kenwood deck. I also noticed my volume resets to half too, which is even more annoying than the screen turning on. I have no smart connect events or anything turned on. Odd thing about the volume, it doesn't do it all the time. It just seems to randomly.

It may be a security "feature", so that no-one/nothing can connect to your device without you seeing the screen light up.

I don't think so, because the phone is most of the time in the pocket so it wouldn't make sense to lighten up the screen to inform the user about a "BT event".
But hmm, maybe I'm able to solve it with tasker

Lighting up, by itself, would be harmless, even if your phone is usually in your pocket.
I was going to suggest tasker, but I never got anywhere with it (at least, the things I wanted to do, which don't appear to be too extravagent, apparently require either a rooted phone or additional non-free plug-ins).

As other member have already described, the screen keps turned on for a long period of time when a BT device connects. So it's battery waste and it's likely that I execute unwanted actions like calling someone
But thank you anyway... I'll try it with tasker and will share my solution here if I find one..
I have a Pioneer car stereo, but I haven't noticed my screen turning on. I'll test this when I get off work.
I did notice though that sometimes the BT volume goes to 50% as mentioned earlier.
My screen does not turn on when it connects to My pioneer car stereo.

I have Z2 and Uconnect stereo in my car and my screen turns on when connects to stereo.
Bumping the topic.. exact same problem. Screen lights up every time I connect via BT to my car Kenwood stereo. Very very irritating. Battery drains out without even my knowing it. Seems like a serious bug.
So apparently on Samsungs official news site , the AOD display has a sensor that will disable the AOD when it's placed inside a pocket or a bag (Why would your watch be in your pocket or bag instead of your wrist?). You would think this would also work if say you're wearing a long sleeve shirt. I have been unable to trigger this via long sleeve shirts and I don't have thin enough clothing to test the pocket, nor do I own a bag to test.
"The device’s 3-inch circular Super AMOLED display has a resolution of 360 x 360. Its 16 million colors, full color Always On Watch continuously shows the time rather than fading to black. Someone already posted on the forums about how their AOD wasn't working, and they found out it was because their strap was blocking their wrist from making contact with the sensor. I'm guessing that the heart rate sensor didn't sense a pulse and turned off the screen completely, or some other sensor all together.

My AOD also turns off when the watch determines that I'm sleeping and then requires a security pin.

My AOD works just fine. But it will not turn off when sleeping or covered. It senses my heartbeat just fine. Perhaps my unit is defective? How did you get it to turn it when sleeping, anything special?

Nothing special. My Classic began to track my sleep automatically out of the box. After I wake up, I press a button or rotate the bezel then put in my pin. Shortly afterwards, I get an alert on the watch and it shows in numbers & a graph how long I slept and also shows me how long I was motionless, how long I had a little bit of movement, and how long I was restless.
When the watch is simply covered up by my longsleeve shirt or a jacket, my AOD doesn't turn off.

It won't turn off AOD with long sleeves, because it knows you're wearing it. It only turns off if it's NOT on your wrist. Or when you're sleeping.
Did anyone install the new PK7 watch update on their Gear S3? Any issues with AOD? Like AOD not working or turning off despite the AOD setting being on?

I just got my Frontier today, and I came here now looking for answers on the AOD feature i have been hearing about but have not witnessed as of yet... My watch goes completely black every time after about 4 to 5 second of inactivity. Like i said i was coming here now to XDA to find out if this was a config problem or what?? Two things I have seen here that may be an issue for me, 1 - i always wear long sleeve shirts, and 2 - i have always had trouble with the smart watch heart rate monitors getting a good pulse on my wrist. (This is my 5th smartwatch, 4th samsung) I did do all of the updates today when initially using watch. I have been wearing it about 8 hours. Hope this helps.

Settings > Style > Always on. Have you turned that on?
Also, it won't work if the watch isn't on your wrist.
Is there a way to increase the brightness of the AOD? Mine is hard to see unless I'm in a fairly dark room.

Thanks, this does seem to be the only way to make the AOD brighter.
"Samsung Flaunt" is a widget you can install, i installed it on mine (you have to select it from widget once installed) as i found certain faces i have time out into a default (black face white hands and red second hand) i didnt want this, i wanted a face of my selection be it downloaded or a pre-installed face to remain on at all times especially if i go out, if you select the "Frontier" face (pre-installed) and have AOD Turned on you lose very little in quality / dimming when the time out kicks in, with "Samsung Flaunt" you install the widget and this then allows you to have the watch face on for up to 30 mins, However it will eat your battery, but then i can live with day to day charging, I like the idea of going out for a meal or a beer with pals and my face being on, i like the idea of a smart watch simulating a "real" watch look, as we all know there are thousands of faces we can select to show off.

Would be very useful, but it is not possible.
I mean you can't set it in system settings, but it is possible to use a "complication" in Gear Watch Designer.
I designed a couple of watch faces setting a complication to turn off AOD every night, was very simple.

I went into samsung gear app/samsung Galaxy apps/searched for flaunt, installed and it should sync to widgets on your s3 gear, hope this helps?

if you guys trying fix all the lil things like brightness and touch and sound go settings_gear info_about device_software version when you infront of this click 5x and that will bring up dialer on there then just press *#0*# from here you can mess with brightness and all sorts of stuff if you figure wat *#0011# will help me out been trying bunch old codes from my s3 s5 days alot work on this lil thing and also if anyone figures out how too turn on dev mode cuz of thizzz pm me thanks....
Hi, I apologize if this was posted before but I could not find anything (neither here or on other forums). I have recently bought a Gear S3 (watch) Classic (no LTE) and so far I love it, however I have one question concerning its usage and battery life. I do not wear it when I sleep, and I do not plan to, so I was wondering if there was a way for the watch to detect that I am not wearing it (it's laying on my desk when not charging so it could use the absence of data it recieves from heart rate and movements) and then automatically disables S Health and other functions (except for alarms and maybe phone calls) until I pick it up? I know that there is Power Saving option in the settings, but to manually turn it on and off every day seems like a hassle when I think that it should be able to do it automatically. Is there any way to do that?

It already does detect that you are not wearing it. When that happens it will turn off the screen. Watch also has a "do not disturb" mode which you can turn on on a schedule. This will disable alerts (except alarms) and disable the screen!

I am looking at purchasing the UK version with BP and ECG and currently have a A52 phone to work with it.
I currently use a Fitbit Charge 4 but really need a device with ECG. Anyone coming from a Fitbit or Garmin or other device with good sleep tracking care to comment on how close the GW4 compares? From the reviews and comments under the reviews it looks like there might be some bad batches of GW4's out there in the wild that are not performing as good as some others?
The sleep tracking on GW4 (same as in previous models like GW3 etc) is Not good. It mainly misses most the deep sleep cycle. I've also had Fitbit before and it seemed better. The best sleep tracker is the Oura ring which I also use and sometime compare with the GW4, which again fails to track deep sleep

Try using Sleep as Android (works with both Tizen and WearOS). Not sure if they've optimized for GW4 yet, but I find Sleep as Android very comparable to Oura - deep sleep metrics are a very inexact science, but agree Samsung watch algorithms do that poorly.
The other nice thing about Sleep as Android is it also graphs SpO2 (again, not sure they've added support for GW4 yet) and HRV. So the only metric missing from that equation is temperature (which can be very useful) that Oura does do.
I am using a beta version of sleep as android created especially for GW4 support. You can check if the update is live yet or also join their beta program.

You might want to start a thread if you are having issues as you will defiantly get more responses.
Anyone check if the sleep tracking has improved any with the latest firmware/software updates to the GW4?
Also is anyone using the ECG feature? That is one of the main features I need as I have heart palpitations on a regular bases but of course whenever I go the doctors it never occurs so its not something they can ever see on a machine and would like to try and catch it on the GW4 when I have an episode to see what it is actually doing.
