What is everyone's performance on GTA San Andreas and Minecraft? For me, Minecraft runs better on the Nexus 6 and GTA San Andreas, while running a lot better than the Nexus 6, crashes after about a minute of gameplay.
I have read that some people experience the same issues, although very few. Even the Messenger basketball game stutters. It ran like this even as soon as it was taken out of the box a couple of days ago, and still nothing has changed. Has anyone else experienced these issues??

Exactly the same thing on GTASA. Minecraft frame rate is unacceptable. Real Racing 3 stutters a bit, too. I've seen it playing better on an s6 in a Sprint store. Extremely disappointed with overall gaming performance. What the f***, Quallcom?
Exynos S7 user here. Minecraft frame sucks but GTASA runs fine for me. Still a lot laggy with graphics options set to max.

I feel like we got a bad batch because very few people have this issue
My sprint s7 just received an update that improves gaming. The game doesn't crash at max anymore, bit still lags due to Rock star's horrible optimization.
Weirdly, the HTC One M9 from 2015 runs the game smooth at max. After calculations, I've found that resolution is the problem. The S7 has a resolution on 2560*1440, while the m9 remains at 1920*1080. When pulling everything, including res to max, it lags. To fix this, keep all else at max except for resolution (keep it at 75%, 3/4 off 2560*1440, also known as 1920*1080, what the m9 has. The game is smoother than the m9 now due to the 820's improved gaming, but as known to all chipsets playing GTA: SA, slight frame drops still occur due to a lack of optimization from Rockstar's side. But it does help tremendously.

Here it is.
Hi everyone
I wanna buy a new phone and the specs of Mi4c have catch me compared to it's price, but then there is many review that says it have a heating issue, so now i just wanna ask you as owners of this phone, do you advise me to buy it or to look for another model, i should mention that im not a gamer just from time to time on simple games, i use most this phone for social medias and video calls at skype.
thank you in advance for any help
I did take the plunge and so far i love it My findings:
Beware that mi4c is China only phone originally so don't expect Global MIUI ROM officially. you can try MIUI eu ROM or sMIUI as alternative but in general this phone will stuck with Android 5.1.1 officially, only the MIUI version is upped. the base OS is still the same Lollipop. the best way to enjoy Nougat is with CM but its Marshmallow CM experience is pretty much stable all around at this time of development.
No overheating so far, but then again i flashed into CM from the start so no MIUI for me.
The Rectangular design is Sony like so i love it (subjective ofc)
Great camera and screen quality.
Battery life is on par with any 3000mah flagship so no worries. (but then again i'm using CM here)
BUT..
If you value super battery life, but not great but above average camera and screen, you can grab the Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon version) with roughly the same price. Plus the Global ROM availabilty is guaranteed for Xiaomi RN3. I personally take mi4c just because i like the design language plus the camera quality proven by GSMArena and others. So there you have it.
The fact it overheats compared to other phones is true, but only partly. Yes, it overheats, but it only does so on miui. I find, using any other custom rom based on aosp or cm, that the issue is completely gone. And when I overheats it really isn't that much of an issue in my experience.
If you ask me, you can't find a better 5"-5.2" phone under 200. If you value community support too it's basically an obligated choice as well.
The overheating isn´t gone with another Rom.
I tried every Rom and still have this problems (not as much as with miui, but still overheating), but with other Roms you could manage the throttling better. So you don´t have lags and freezes while gaming what is important, but for me it heats on 50-65+ on every Rom while play 3d games and rare throttling.
The problem is the 808 - 810 series. Every phone with this cpus overheats.
There is no overheating if you put the GPU and the BIG cores in powersave. You should get like 4-5 hours screen-on time and no performace issues. Also the battery should last 48h with normal use.
What you mean with "put the GPU and the BIG cores in powersave" ?
At least you have a 30k antutu device and i don´t believe that you can play 3d games well like that. Thats for sure not what the OP want.
I won´t say that the Mi4c is a bad device, price / performance is pretty good, but its not right there aren´t overheating problems. Everyone should now about that issue before he buy it and if i know before that i can just use 60-70 % of the performance i would looking for another device maybe (i tought there is more space above the 68k written in the test results like in every phone with another rom ...).
The best result i get was with RR 5.7.1 constant 55k antutu (heating about ~55°c). With some roms my phone throttle down to 30-40k and i had enormly problems to play NFS, fps 15 after 2-3 mins. With efficient mode i stuck at 45k or less.
For sure not every phone is same, what mean if you are lucky you couldn´t have overheating problems.

thank you for your answer but i just wanna know if it heat on normal usage, like social media, taking photos and skype video calls, cause the main reason i wanna buy this phone is the screen and the camera, i casualy play games and when i do, it just simple games like domino or guessing games.
Well, in your case no. You won´t have overheating problems just for social media etc. and very simple games.
But could be that you find a new game/app wich need performance then you could have. Future ! ;D.
BTW Vector 2 looks like a simple game, Pokemon Go looks like a simple game, a map with some stops but you would have overheating probs (resp. - i have - ~55°c). Just saying ;D.

thank you again, i will go for it, i was hesitating between this phone and redmi 3s
The main reason you shouldn't buy a redmi 3s is the well known bug that keeps the phone stuck on 2G in some occasions (you can read more on miui.com or here in xda).
@Danny94, that 55k antutu sounds low. And so does that cpu temperature you were talking about. I wouldn't rule out the possibility it's a defective unit, frankly. With all the roms I've used I've never gotten less than 65k and 72k with my current daily driver - TS CM13.

I had Z5 Premium before mi4c (don't ask why the downgrade) and it does overheat, causing a game like Horizon Chase to stutter after a while. None that i found with mi4c. so even if this phone CPU overheats in games, the impact isn't as pronounced compared to 810 powered phone. Yeah gaming is quite major part in smartphone but it's taken as an in-between activity so in pretty much all other activities, even 810 is still very good as i have used in Z5P and no complain generally.

You should look at Zuk Z2 (not pro) much better than mi4c
Guys i believe you to reach 69k ... on Antutu, but thats not a true value... I reach 69 k too on first time, you should try to test 5 times or more behind each other until your value doesn´t drop anymore. That was for me 55k on RR 5.7.1, with the most other Roms i was on 35k after 3-5 test.
The first test doesn´t have any sense on this cpu, because of the overheating -> throttle. Or does you play a game for only 3 minutes too ?
Yeah the Zuk Z2 looks great. I like 5" smartphones and at the moment the Zuk Z2 is the best in my opinion, the Rom should be bad, but there are for sure custom roms.

thank you but zuk z2 is around 210$ while mi4c will cost me only 120$
I would go for Mi4S, it worth the upgrade IMO...
As i know the Mi4c has the same hardware like the Mi4s, just small things like fingerprint sensor, sd -slot, little bit more battery, but costs a lot more.
It really depends on the relative price of Mi 4c compared to other devices.
The only thing that makes Mi 4c stand out is its camera quality. It takes amazing photos (though the focus speed is average) and high quality 4k videos (though the lack of stabilization means you need very steady hands).
Performance of Mi 4c is good but it heats too much. Stand-by power consumption is too high (even when compared with nearly identical phones like Mi 4s).
I'm not sure what prices you can get, but in China you can get Mi 5 (3GB RAM, 32GB Storage) for USD250 through the official Mi shop. The Red Mi Note 3 and Note 4 offer metal body, fingerprint sensor, larger battery and similar performance. You can think about them as well. Note that the Red Mi series have noticeably worse camera than Mi 4c.

Below is the 3Dmark score while running on latset global beta. OP6 running on same specs performs better...and I expect poco to perform at same level. Its clear that MIUI is holding the phone back from achieving it's true potential when it comes to gaming. So just a request to custom rom devs not to overlook this.

i save almost 300 bucks from op6 , so i am not complaining , if can be improved ,its a plus
those are benchmarks though. you have to use both devices or ask someone who already has them about how they perform if you actually want to compare the "flagship gaming experience" feeling of using them. benchmarks are just numbers and wont give any score on actual real life usage, especially on devices with the same chipset.
EDIT:
To be fair, I have to point out that I experience more hiccups on my F1 on MIUI 9 stable compared with my older Mi 5s on MIUI on latest beta. F1 is definitely better on the FPS department on gaming (very noticeably better) than my 5s, but hiccups or lagging while playing on long sessions on F1 is quite disturbing for me. The F1 definitely needs more stability updates.
*Games I'm referring to are Naruto Blazing, PUBG, and Mobile Legends.

Benchmarks are NOT the proper way of determining gaming capabilities.
Yes, the OP6 performs better but that's because it has no bloatware installed on it. It has almost stock android with some fine tuning. MIUI is filled with crappy add-ons that do almost nothing good to device performance. I haven't checked the global 10 beta. Maybe it's better than the 9 or maybe not. If you want to have the top notch performance , just flash a custom ROM with a custom kernel but that too needs waiting as I'm not seeing great development here for our F1. So all we can do now is wait.

Sorry but no. You have no idea what you're talking about. Nobody knows, at this stage.
The GPU or RAM could be clocked slower in the Poco, for all we know.
If you expect the Poco to perform as good as a phone that is 2x the price then you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Also, Poco gets 286k score in Antutu. Which is the same as their chart listing for OnePlus 6. Not that benchmarks are 100% conclusive of performance, as already stated.
Continuing @CosmicDan , benchmark scores on MIUI10 are better than even the 1000$ flagships. Both graphics and storage, which are causing bottlenecks on MIUI9 are vastly improved on 10.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/graphics-storage-improvements-miui-10-t3841169
P.S. : 3DMark is still not running. That's the only thing that holding me back from liberty to the skepticism.
people for the love of god and for 10000th time...benchmarks are never a measure for the real life performance of the phone, its only theoretical of what it can do under control preset environment, only noobs believe and base their ideal phone performance base on benchmark apps!!!
Buy a OP6 .

And as you are saying benchmarks are unconclusive. Some Manufacturers chose to cheat on them, like we saw with the Huawei s boost of CPU performance on benchmark apps. The most representative benchmark would be one that the manufacturer didn't know about when they were optimising the device and writing algorithms for benchmark detection

Forget the benchmarks and go check the FPS in games. You can do that with GLTools (root is required). It can also optimize games for better performance/better graphics. Even without the optimizations you will get 30 FPS in all games on max graphics and even 60 FPS in games that support high frame rate.

Ah, I wouldn't be so proud of ignorance. Mobile gaming is nothing to scoff at. It rivals that of consoles and PC from a financial POV. Last I checked it was ~40% of all gaming revenue - should approach 50% by 2019/20.
So there's a reason Tencent, EA, Gameloft, and various gacha devs love mobile...
To me, it comes as no surprise that people want to play games on the F1. Most people have phones, but not everyone has time to play in front of a TV or monitor.

I thought the same, until Bethesda announced Elder Scrolls Blades. Townsmen is pretty good too, if you like strategy games (doesn't need high specs though).
There's also great emulation potential, if you get a gamepad (iPega for example).
speaking of GL-Tools..
im quite annoyed when playung nba 2k18 on my F1.. it only gets about 30-40fps .. i used to enjoy playing it on my 5t,, which gets me to about 50-60fps with cloth sim, reflection and shadow all set to off,, the rest are all high...
tried this on poco f1,, 60fps on the first minute,, then going down and down to only 25-30fps on the 4th quarter.. tsk,, ive sold my sd 835 5T for this one,, and now am starting to feel sorry, tsk
anyways,, on emulator gaming such as PPSSPPP,, this one is superb

PSP,Nitendo GB Color, Advanced, etc have the same form factor as a mobile phone and were a lot famous during their time. If you really think phone is not for gaming, you are so naive.
Developers are shifting on to Android, not for fun but they are earning from it and their profit tells us how many people play game on phones.
Just like Consoles and PC's have their own advantage (although PC has more) similarly phones have some advantage too.
-The most important point being portability when you are on the move. You will say that gaming laptops have an advantage then do tell me for how much time can you run games on a laptop before reaching for charger and can your laptop be charged for like 4-5 times with a powerbank?
-Android is a more free market for games, remember how tellatale changed the story? (bad that it's now closed)
-PUBG did the same thing, it brought a whole new genre to handheld device.
-We are bound to get a lot of new games once the developers like Nitendo comes onboard (properly) maybe it will crash the market of handheld consoles or atleast will make the developers decrease the cost of handheld consoles.

Buys a phone designed for pure hardware prowess while cheaps out on all the rest features then wonders why ppl buy it. I know I shouldn't say it but you don't seem like a smart guy.
A meme would have described my feeling better the laugh I had reading this comment.
DISCLAIMER: I am using the Indian variant of the model and hence some stuff may be different for you
So i was a Poco X3 Pro user until about a month ago when my motherboard died and since they couldn't get a replacement motherboard for my device nor was poco x3 pro available as a replacement, I was being offered the Redmi Note 10 Pro, I was furious as that is a serious downgrade from my Poco X3 Pro and after some bickering I had to pay around 3000 INR extra for a Poco X4 Pro
I am using the 8/128gb variant for about a week now and here is what I have to say
This is a massive, no. HUMONGOUS downgrade from the Poco X3 Pro in probably every way possible
Camera: the global variant comes with a 108 MP main camera, however the Indian variant only gets a 64 MP main camera!
Obviously the snap 695 doesn't support 4k video recording but I did hear that it supports 1080p 60 fps recording however for some reason xiaomi only allows 1080p 30 fps
So please do not try to record videos on this device
Photos - Since I have a 64mp main camera it might be different for you
Seriously? The quality of photos better on my 4yr old Oppo F9 Pro
Performance: obviously quite a downgrade from Poco X3 Pro, lags and stutters are very noticeable
Poco X3 Pro could run Genshin Impact at Highest graphic settings at around 40-45 fps
Poco X4 Pro, just no don't even try you can literally count the frames on your screen
Thought it would be good as they literally just said during their Poco X4 Pro reveal that the massive sale for their X3 Pro was because of its performance
Display - Although it doesn't support 4k I am satisfied with the 120Hz Amoled display
but I do face a weird problem every now and then
I feel like the display is too sensitive
I hold my phone when using landscape mode with 4 fingers and sometimes when my fingers just get a bit close to the screen but not touching the screen it thinks I am touching the screen and performs tasks according to it
for example while watching yt this happens and the video either gets forwarded by 10s or goes backward by 10s
Battery: Good battery life and the fast charging is pretty nice
Overall
I don't exactly think this is worth your money...
atleast not the Indian variant
Indians are crazy for performance as 90% of them play demanding games
p.s when I got the phone it was running Miui 13.0.2 and like 5-6 hours later I got the miui 13.0.4 update and it's laggier than 13.0.2
atleast for me
also would like to know how the Non Indian variant of the device is
Global version here with 108mp cam. Granted I've never bothered for mobile gaming as I use consoles/pc for that but I've had zero lag and stuttering, screen is awesome, speakers are great, SOT is 2 days with moderate usage, camera pretty good once you use a modified gcam and I've got no interest in taking videos so lack of recording in 4k doesn't worry me.
I think people are quick to complain about a phone that's only just been released and the stock apps/firmware need some work. Just said on a previous thread - after installing MIUI EU, rooted and running multiple magisk mods I'm more than happy... People knew the processor was mid range before purchasing so stating it's slower than a high end SD processor is kind of obvious right? This phone is a decent and it focused on different areas than the previous model which has attacked some people and put off others.

Great to hear that the global variant is better than the Indian one, personally I'm not a heavy gamer too I just put in the part of performance since Poco during their x4 pro reveal just said that the massive sale of their x3 pro was due to its good performance and well then they just took a 360° turn and were like here we do not care
Gcam does make the camera a bit better but the Indian variant has a 64mp camera compared to the 108 on the global one so that's sad
have been able to get rid of a few stutters on the UI by installing Poco launcher 4
about the speakers
Is it just me or is the sound too low?
but the clarity is pretty good
edit: I'm not so interested in 4k recording but hoped a 1080p 60 fps recording would be possible

Hmmm I usually keep my speakers about halfway because they are very loud (and have decent quality imo) I further increased my quality by installed jamesdsp and with the speaker profile I use a viper DDC file called arise-army. I use a custom version for my Bluetooth audio too

I see, so what I suspected was that Indian variant of miui is reducing the maximum volume of the device so I guess that's the case well anyways I'll get MIUI eu soon I have 3 days left till I can unlock the bootloader

For me it's a great device. I'm not going to lie, I would buy the POCO F3 without fear, IF AND ONLY IF it had a P2 input for headphones

ah great, hopefully there's more people like you so that this phone can get a new life from all the development
I just realised that this might be one of the only devices that still start at 64gb storage in this price range, good thing it's only In India
however for my Indian friends out there...
There is no 256gb variant of peux
and well if you visit the poco official website there is just absolutely no info about the Indian variant... That's sad
anyways I finally unlocked the bootloader and got miui eu 13.0.10 this def feels better

I just bought this phone and was wondering how you do this? Do I just install an APK from here? https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-port-hub/
The Poco X4 isn't listed though. I'm a total newbie to this.

No worries. Link is below, I prefer the LMC version of the camera - download install and then restore the XML config

I got the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus Indian variant because thats the only one available right now unofficially. From what I heard its the only one that will come officially too. From what I've seen the performance is really good. I can play every single high graphics game at good fps. Genshin too runs 40-45 on medium settings. Its a great balanced processor if you're looking for a phone that you can game and take great pictures with. Usually if you go for a gaming device everything is sacrificed for the soc but, at least on the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus, you get a great soc for gaming and emulation (Can emulate PS2 and Wii games with 60fps!!!), a great looking if a bit fragile body and a good main camera sensor (same as previous gen Note 10 Pro Max) and awesome battery life with fast charging to boot.
Coming from the X3 Pro to the X4 is a definite downgrade but coming from Redmi Note 10 Pro Max it is definitely an upgrade.
Coming from a 2019 $100 phone here — the experience has been very good compared to my old daily driver. Everything's smooth and the camera's really comparable to a flagship with some drawbacks of course. However knowing that the hardware is a heavy downgrade from its predecessor, I'm starting to have second thoughts on this one. Sure the AMOLED screen and 5G is great and I don't really do mobile gaming as my iPad does the job for me but no 4K recording and playback? Heck, 1080p60 recording isn't even possible. Genshin Impact runs barely 30 FPS on lowest settings. I'm a bit disappointed. I definitely should've done more research on my part.

from a 2019 $100 this is definitely a massive upgrade
sadly camera is no where close to flagship store infact it's worser than almost all devices in this price range (excluding devices with the snap695 ofc)
It's predecessor was a one of thing
it didn't last long though as it had major flaws like severe ghost touch and hard bricking randomly due to cheap PMIC
but for performance it could easily beat devices tha cost 2x the price
it was a beast in terms of gaming
if you got rid of the perf kernel you're basically looking at a standard laptop
with LYB kernel i managed to always maintain an fps above 50 on the max graphics possible in Genshin Impact
Sadly the 5G aspect is totally useless to me as my country doesn't even provide stable 4g speeds so 5g isn't coming any time soon
Screen is good with a two small (most likely software based) flaws being flickering and backlight bleeding
4k video recording is even available on rather cheaper devices nowadays so yeah that's a bummer
You can actually record at 1080p 60 fps using Gcam but it's actually more of a 1080p 45 fps
Happy with the 1080p amoled display
if it was 4k then it would be an lps display
and people think that amoled 1080p displays are better than 4k lps ones but this controversial so I'd rather just leave it at that
(I personally like 4k lps)
Gaming (like real gaming not just candy crush level stuff) is sadly almost impossible on this device with it even lagging severely in apex legends mobile on the lowest possible graphics
But hey it could be saved by 3rd party development though the chances do seem slim as of now since the account that used to release kernel sources for Xiaomi devices has been inactive for a while now
i kind of feel like the device was a flop
you can disagree and it's totally fine but just look at how poco went back to the performance before everything else standard on the Poco F4
I'd like to compare it to the Galaxy S21. Would that seem reasonable? I have no issues on my device as far as gaming goes but my phone is rooted. And I debloat some of the apps. Does that alone make a difference? For games like COD Mobile I experience zero lag even at max settings. I play mainly small games like pocket city and media runs fine on Pixel 7 Pro in my experience.

I just upgraded from s21+ exynos version and it was all worth it. I only played nba 2k20 and Mobile legends, havent encountered issues so far
Gaming performance is somewhere between the SD888. I have notice that the performance at least with COD mobile has changed and seems like is dropping more frames then it used to. This I think is more related to the game then the phone since my other device with a SD888+ has been experiencing the same. Also in regards to COD the max frame rate you will achieve with ultra setting is a low resolution and only 90 fps. My SD888+ can play at medium graphics with 120 fps. this is probably because of the GPU ( I'm guessing here).
The SoC is plenty capable but games have to be optimized for Vulkan to have good performance on Mali GPUs. Every game should work fine out of the box but may lose to Adreno devices when settings are cranked.
The only thing bothers me in gaming part of p7pro is that I can't hear any game sound in Bluetooth headphones while talking over discord or normal phone call.
