Does xiaomi 12/12x support desktop mode?
Like Samsung DEX mode
Could you help me to make it clear?
Thanks!
They are working on it, it is in beta on China Rom for a select group. You can try to run it, just download 'PC mode by Xiaomi' on Apkmirror. It's been in Beta since September 2021

Nokia Camera 91.9.1130.40-9558b747 with Pro Mode and Animojis ENABLED
TTSIA, and WYSIWYG.
The title says it all, and what you see is what you get.
It has enabled Pro Mode, Animojis and more features, for any device that supports Level 3 Camera2 API. Have fun!
Things I'm very aware of:
- Crashes on OnePlus devices Fixed in 91.9.1130.40!
- The Shutter Speed control doesn't have any visual effect on the viewfinder, but does work on the final pictures.
- Features like Live Bokeh, Panorama and Slow Motion work only on certain devices.
Changelog between version 91.9.1130.40 and 91.9.1130.40-9558b747:
More animojis unlocked! They shall appear now as downloadable content.
Changelog between version 8.1041.71 and 91.9.1130.40:
Pro Mode unlocked, as always, with a refreshed new look!
New AR section in the top menu! It lets you choose a set of facial stickers, Animojis and lightening effects!
Fixed Settings menu crash in OnePlus (and probably some other) devices.
New Slow Motion and TimeLapse options! (Tested on few limited set of devices)
Downsides between version 8.1041.71 and 91.9.1130.40:
Only works in ARM64 devices! Due to the lack of libraries, I can only ensure compatibility with these devices.
Minimal Android API version has been up'ed from 25 to 26, meaning, this camera can only be used in Android 8.0+ devices.
I'd like to take this opportunity to make a roll call to everyone who's willing to test this, as I want to see how many different devices are compatible.
Please, do let everyone know whether it works on yours or not! :)
Before reporting a crash or a fault, check if the ORIGINAL APK works on your device, and if it did, then feel free to attach a logcat!
If you own an older device, such as an ARM32 or you are stuck in Android 7.0 Nougat (in which case, I'd recommend you to find your device's sub-forum, if any, and install a Custom ROM ASAP), I recommend to stay on version 8.1041.71.

same on honor view 10
otherwise seems to work
It perfectly works on my Oneplus 5 (and it doesn't crash at all)
On my Pixel 2, only white balance and exposure are working on Pro mode. ISO and shutter speed can only be set to Auto in the port while they don't show up in the original apk. I think there should be an option to change the focus but it is nowhere to be found in both versions. Shooting slow motion or timelapse video and clicking setting crash the app. Trying to take photo with beauty mode on gives "Action not support: 708" message and does not capture any photo as well.

Beauty mode? That option shouldn't even appear LOL
Nevertheless... What ROM are you running, custom, stock? Can you report what Camera2 HAL Level you're running?
You can check with this app, the first section that appears. It must look like this:
Error : Can't connect to the camera.

Stock Oreo 8.1.0 running May security update. HAL Level 3.
I assume that icon is beauty mode or some sort. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Works on Huawei p10 lite.
I have a LG V20 and it's Camera2 API level is "Full".
Just out of curiosity, is this something related to hardware or something LG could change if they wanted to?
Thanks!
Works on Redmi Note 4 SD, AEX, 8.1
Works great on a Xiaomi Mi Max 2...
Device : Samsung Galaxy S7 Exinos Variant Android Naugat

Device: HonorView10.
Here is the logcat
We know that today OnePlus released the newest Android P Beta for the OnePlus 6 for both HydrogenOS and OxygenOS.It is a surprise to me because it now allows HydrogenOS devices install the preview version without wiping user data. However, when I try to open the "Sensors" page in AIDA64,my phone frozed and soon showed me some words including"Qualcomm Crash Dump".I soon reported this on the forum and knew that another person has the same problem. Now I just want to know why it happens and if the OxygenOS build has the same bug.I'm so worried about it and want to know whether it will do harm to my phone.
Yeah, I just installed the Android P Beta 3 on my op6, and whenever I even open up CPU-Z, my phone goes into Crashdump mode. I've had issues with apps such as CPU-Z and AIDA64 with Beta 2 as well. I'm guessing it has something to do with the app looking for certain data about the phone, and that not agreeing with the beta buids. I'm not surprised, it is a beta build anyways.
Edit: I put DP3 instead of Beta 3. Fixed.
Do we have any mod or app that would lunch desktop mode, similar to Samsung DeX, once 7 pro connected over HDMI to large monitor?
I think the OP7p only has screen mirroring built in. If you want to use a USB Hub/kb/mouse you need to be rooted, bootloader unlocked, and install a custom kernel. If you don't want to mess with that stuff, you have to wait for Android Q, which has a desktop mode built in.
Good to know! Cheers

I'm already unlocked, rooted, and screen mirroring is not same as DeX /desktop station. Everything is huge, lol. Any mods or apps you know that can modify the view on a big screen?
Old thread, but I too would love desktop mode on my rooted OnePlus. Just wait for A13? ...or is there a current solution?
Looks like I found it... TaskBar in PlayStore. I can't wait to try it out.

The basic Android 11 Desktop Mode works pretty well on my OnePlus 7 Pro running LineageOS 18.1. For some reason it doesn't work on my OnePlus 9 Pro running LineageOS 19.1. Make sure you enable Developer Options, then "Force Desktop Mode" and "Enable Freeform Windows". Good luck!
Hi, I have a samsung galaxy tab s5e, basic with the stock ROM it has a DeX mode that honestly, among all the One UI features, is one of my favorites, unfortunately I didn't like the One UI update cadence and therefore I preferred to switch to a custom ROM, the lineage os 19, the problem is that unfortunately when you change the rom, you lose the DeX mode, I have always been looking for a launcher or in any case a program that allows you to have windows, well cared for like the DeX mode and honestly I have never been able to find one that gives me the same comfort as DeX mode.
Anyone can recommend a well-made, stable and constantly updated launcher that manages to bring a desktop mode?
Preferably it can also be activated without a second screen
Bump
Hi, everyone.
I'm considering getting this phone, for use with Lineage. Has anyone tried out Desktop mode on Lineage?
If so, can you share your experience, what works/doesn't work, and any quirks?
Thanks in advance!
I have a setup to use a desktop mode from my phone and I can confirm that Lineage OS has no desktop mode
the standard rom comes with the Ready For desktop mode which I have also tried for a bit but this functionality is lost when switching roms

Thank you for your answer.
Quick follow-up, if I may: how are you using the phone as a desktop? How big are the limitations?
Also, have you tried the "hidden" desktop mode tucked away in the developer options?
Again, thanks for your input.
Hi,
I have quickly given the "hidden" mode a shot, it is very difficult to use properly as there is no real window manager but it does work.
Biggest limitation is that taskswitching is very inconvenient.
I have a setup ready so if you have more detailed questions I can attempt to answer those
Thank you for your help, really.
Phone is ordered, I hope I didn't make a mistake

Just wondering how your experience went with LineageOS Desktop Mode on your Motorola. I have a OnePlus 7 Pro w/LineageOS 18.1 and the basic Android 11 Desktop Mode works pretty well. I just bought a Oneplus 9 Pro w/Lineage 19.1 and basic Android 12 Desktop Mode only shows the launcher and two navigation buttons, but none of them will do anything. It's completely useless.

I have only used the stock OS for now, haven't had enough time to mess with the phone that much, unfortunately.
I must say, however, that the "Ready For" (Motorola's Desktop Mode) is an AMAZING experience. I can literally replace my entire PC with this phone. Even for gaming, as long as I have a machine running Steam turned on at the time

I was using Dex on my Galaxy S10 for a while. It's amazing as well. I just couldn't stand having to use Google & Samsung. The OnePlus 7 Pro will have to hold me until I figure out what's going on with the 9 Pro.
Thanks.
Hi
it means that in s10 oneplus and moto g100 could use usb-c to hdmi connection to display content (without desktop mode) with lineageos
who can confirm me?

Hi there.
The Samsung S-Series and OnePlus (starting with at least 5 and later, IIRC) have had HDMI out capabilities for a while. I remember having HDMI out on my Galaxy S4 (with a specific dock for it, but still).
The G100 (and G200, possibly also the Edge series) also have HDMI out, so yes, you should at least be able to mirror the display, even if Desktop Mode is not available.

I'm considering a G100, let me know if you get LineageOS 19.1 installed, and if desktop mode works.
Thanks.
My g100 runs 19.1 for a while now and i have to say that ready for is pretty much the only thing i miss from the stock rom. Especially since the android 12 stockrom update which improved the app alongside by a lot. I really hope someday someone gets ready for running on custom roms.
But you can still get a desktop mode with lineage right now. But all solutions are a bit hacky and not a complete package like ready for. Hdmi over usb-c still works without a problem. Ofcourse it will only be screen mirroring without further tinkering.
In the developer options you can force the experimental desktop mode which by itself is a bit lackluster but atleast you'll get a 16:9 image instead of 21:9.
There are apps like Taskbar Launcher (which can be found here: https://github.com/farmerbb/Taskbar) to improve it by a bit.
Another way can be Second Screen (found here: https://github.com/farmerbb/SecondScreen) which can be great for gaming on a big screen. With that app i limit the phone to 1080p on my 4k screen. It can improve performance by quite a bit for harder to run stuff. Also it forces 16:9 with simple screen mirroring. It can also be combined with Taskbar Launcher.
Theres probably also always the option to run a linux distro through termux or andronix and the like. But that can be quite a undertaking tbh and is a bit hacky imho. eg I dont think you'll get gpu acceleration with those options. I played around with this stuff on the stockrom for a while and i have to admit i'm not knowledgeable enough for these options for now. But i saw some pretty impressive stuff on the termux subreddit.
Yes, the brand-developed desktop modes are much better than the stock experimental desktop mode in Android. Hopefully it will progress.
I actually bought a Royole Flexpai 2 folding phone (Chinese company with no Google, running their own fantastic Water OS 2), and when connected to an external monitor it gives me a larger version of the tablet format screen. So it's as good a desktop mode as I need. The only problem is that Royole is in financial trouble and the OS is stuck on Android 10 for now.
