No video on USB drive on Android TV - MX Player

Hello
I am not able to see the video listing on my USB drive with my Android TV. I have checked the option to show hidden files, refreshed, reinstalled the player with no success. What is wrong?

DLNA - How to?

I watched a video not long ago of playing music with your HTC sensation through the Playstation 3 via DLNA. I've had no luck on setting it up. Has anyone did this and if so how?
No idea how to setup DLNA with a PS3, I am having problems with my Sony BDP-S570. Any help is appreciated.
I was wondering this too, when i use connected media app and select video my Tv shows up , but when I select it as a player it always state that its unresponsive, tv doesnt show the phone as a media server either
Download Twonky app from market. Open app, go through settings tv/other device should pick up phone. Any probs let me know...
Not sure about ps3 but i have used 2 player (free market app) to play music on a variety of DLNA devices.
Oops didn't see this was an old thread that got bumped!
Use the app "Connected Media"
I am using Imediashare from market, easy to setup.. work with music, photos and videos
Great!

Works like a charm!!!
You can even share online content
Has anyone had any luck sharing media to an Xbox 360? I can stream photos only, using the connected media app, via WMP on my Win7 notebook.
I'd like to know if it's possible to share stuff (photos, music + videos) directly to my XB, using DLNA or not, either way.

I use doubletwist with airsync, it allows you to airshare to ps3 and xbox360 and i think a few others too
I've. Used all apps here but no one of these are working on a Samsung home cinema system.

It's dead easy (when you know how, and for Microsoft's definition of "dead easy")
First, you need to set your Xbox up as a Media Center extender, so with both the Xbox and your computer on the network and no firewall blocking anything between them:
1. On the 360 start Media Center, it will give you a numeric code
2. On the computer start Media Center and add an extender (tasks, then along to the right)
3. Enter the code the 360 displays and you should now have the 360 accessing the MC of your computer (you can close MC on the computer)
4. Open Connected Media on your phone and select the type of media you fancy streaming
5. Select the media (for photos, it starts a slideshow starting from the pic you select, if your pics are too large then they won't show for long due to their loading times, but you can pause them on the phone and manually go through them), you should then be taken to the player screen where you can select the "Xbox 360 Media Center Extender" and done
See? Wasn't what was required obvious?
Oh you'll need your computer on whenever you want to use the 360 as a MCE, but you don't need to log in (with W7 at least - the MCE logs in with it's own account in the background).
Basically, the 360 doesn't enter DLNA mode unless it's acting as a MCE, of course there's always the chance MS will release an update that allows DLNA without needing MC on a PC, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

App that can do both photos and videos?

I am looking for an app that can play both photos and videos in the same playlist from a presentation standpoint so I can hook my tablet up next to a TV and have it stream both to the TV.
Right now the Gallery can do photos and MX Player can do Videos, but I need something that can do both in the same play list. Anyone have any ideas?

So you're basically looking for a media server? I use Twonky. Check out the description, but it should match what you are looking for.
I have only once used the app to stream (via WiFi) a movie from my tablet to a TV and it worked fine. I also have Twonky running on my NAS as a permanent media server to serve all my devices that are connected to my home network.
I will look into it, but not looking to have this need to be over a server.
I am looking for something to simply play a slide show that can go from photos, to video, to photos, etc and have all the files on my tablet and not stored remotely.

I think I confused you. Twonky is just that, it runs on your tablet so the TV (or any compatible media play device) can play/display the files you allow it to access. Twonky will turn your tablet into a media server.
I was only explaining that I have used it only once on my tablet. This was to watch a video that I had on my tablet on a TV via WiFi. So I was not using a HDMI cable to hook my tablet to the TV, which is something different. In addition I tried to explain that I use Twonky for the exact same purpose at home, just not on the tablet, but on a NAS.
I see apps for Twonky Mobile, Beam, Video, etc on there. Which one should I use to display these on my tablet in a playlist/slideshow. I will be attached via HDMI.
It doesnt seem to allow me to put both a video and a photo into the same play list... is that correct?
I think what the OP is looking for is a single application that can play both audio and video content within.
Try QuickPic, its a gallery application similar to the stock Gallery, but can play video as well (says standard video on the page).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
If you want to create a 'playlist' of sorts, you could create a folder and put your files (pictures, video) inside of it. It should come up as a folder in QuickPic. I'm not sure about the ordering however, you'll have to play with that. Possibly alphabetical, or date modified.
Take a look at BubbleUpnp.
It's a dlna app, and the paid version lets you set up your device as a renderer or a library. Set your phone as the server/library, set your TV as the renderer, et voila...
I've tried loads of options, and this is by far the most comprehensive.
You even have the option to subscribe to a cellular based protocol...

[Q] Cm 11, Moto G, no Media shown or played by Apollo and VLC

Hello Sirs.
trying since a while.
Apollo does not show any media files. It states (in German) something like "use an USB cable to download media files from your computer"
VLC shows the files with index picture, however crashes when I try to play them. Sometimes it ends with no message, sometimes it just shows (again in German) "VLC stopped".
The media files are flv and mp4 format. I copied them from my linux machine via USB in MTP modus.
The target folder was Music or Movies
The Galery App (Google Video Player) can at least play those mp4 files, so i believe, this is not an issue of file format and/or codec.
My phone runs the falcon M6 snapshot and has no google apps installed.
This problem occured for me in the earlier Snapshots as well.
is there a dedicated log directory on android and CM like /var/log/ that I could check for relatetd errors?
Any hint?
best regards
Frytz

re-purposing old fone as media center pc

i have on occasion used my old galaxy s-2 as a home theater media hub. many fones support mhl (media hdmi link) and the cables are cheap online (e.g.: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NTHXYY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).
once you get your fones picture on your large screen tv, the next step is to install the software to manage your media. xbmc makes an app for android which can be downloaded here: http://xbmc.org/download/
once installed you can use another android device and install the xbmc remote app to control your media server (which is the fone connected to your tv). i would assume that a blu-tooth remote would also work.
other benefits are streaming videos from another fone or tablet should also work once dlna is enabled. xbmc addons (such as youtube, hulu, channel-1) work the same as if they were running on linux, windows, mac. you can launch other android apps from within xbmc although they cant be controlled with the remote.
the limitation is that my fone is limited to a 720p resolution (ymmv).

Download .avi from LG TV into external usb drive

Hello everybody,
With my LG television, I use WebOS to access internet. I have tried to download an .avi file fom internet but I got a message similar to "Downloading file is not supported" from the browser.
I would like to find a way (via another app, via an external device or whatever) to download a media file into my TV or into an USB drive already plugged-in. Then, I would like the TV to play/read the downloaded file.
Any idea how to do this ?
In other words, today, what I do:
- download a media file from the web with my computer (file of 700mo)
- copy the media into an USB drive
- unplug the usb drive from my computer
- plug the usb drive into my TV
- play the media to watch it with my TV
I would like to avoid those steps (using my computer) for watching my downloaded media on my TV.
Thanks,
Manbboy
