Question LTE different country - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Dear all, I need your help. I bought a Samsung galaxy 4 LTE in US, when I tried to use the LTE here in Brazil it says there is no mobile plan for this watch in your country. I am wonderig if is it possible to change the region? install a new firmware? The modal of my watch is SM-R865U. I really apreciate if anyone could help me with this. Thank you

its not the problem with the watch, your mobile service provider has to support it as companion device

ok, I got it, thanks for your help. However, I also have the active 2 and I was able to set up the LTE service on it. People that bought the same watch here in Brazil are able to set up, only my watch that can not do it. I was thinking if I needed to change the region or to install a new rom or firmware

I had setup issue on my OnePlus device.
I had to switch to a custom rom or samsung device to set it up

I also face the same pb with a pixel 6. I ve read about the trick to set it up by pairing gw4 with a samsung phone...then switching the sim. the pb is that I have esim. not to say that reset&pair it takes a lot of time. and if you have music and other stuff to restore it gets even more complicated.

Yeah, I agree. Esim makes it more complicated.
I was able to get away with a custom rom on a separate mobile.
I guess you don't have that liberty

Wifi calling

Hi guys, new to here.
I've searched high and low and I can't seem to find an answer.
I'm from the UK and have a BTU galaxy s7. I've just rooted it and have downloaded csc feature expert. Tried to enable wifi calling but nothing appears under phone settings.
Has anyone had any luck doing this? If so, info would be much appreciated.
It worked for me in USA on t mobile!! i didn't do anything special just outta the box connected to wifi and boom
I'm in the UK too, vodaphone network with wifi callinging activated on my account and similarly I can't activate in on my phone, because there is no "wificalling" enable selection on my Samsung S7 Edge phone settings, did you have any luck finding out how you can do it

Do you have the international(G935F) or T mobile variant(G935T)?

According to the Vodafone S7/Edge forum Wi-Fi calling needs an update before it can be enabled. No idea when this will be out.

It's working for me, but I got my S7 from EE.
OK Thanks. I contacted Samsung and they say wifi calling isn't part of their software, its a service provider software add on. I know EE have their wificalling working, where you download an App, whereas vodaphone are saying you don't need to download any app, so as you've said, vodaphone are advertising under false pretences, becasue their wificalling isn't up and running yet.....you'd think they'd get a system that works first, before advertising the facility......a case of waiting to see when Vodaphone get their act together

To be fair to Vodafone (which is very difficult) their web site doesn't mention Wi-Fi calling for the S7 - only the S6. Several people on their forum have claimed that customer service told them it was enabled which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. As the new flagship phone why wouldn't it be enabled out of the box? Especially given EE didn't appear to have any problem doing it.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be along any time now... What I'd like to know is when they're going to enable Wi-Fi texts as well as calls.
P.S. You don't need an app for EE either. I believe EE and Vodafone work in the same way as opposed to O2 and 3 which use a separate app.

I just flashed EE version (from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930F/EVR/) G930FXXU1APB9 and WiFi calling options still do not show up. Please advice.

AFAIK, there is no way to get WiFi calling on the Exynos variant. Sorry, it doesn't sound like it will ever be possible, so don't get your hopes up.

Verizon -use 2 data channels at once?

Good day folks I need to explain my question....I recently switched from a S4 to a S7 both on my Verizon service. Now here is the meat of my problem. On the S4 I could be on the phone talking to a client, then load an app called LogMeIn and do a remote session to their pc while talking to them. I was not connected to WiFi!
Now that I have switched to the S7 I got a message yesterday when trying to open the LMI program that Apps using mobile data are not available while the phone is in use!!! WTF.
I can't have that, I need to talk to my customer and run a remote at the same time.
Any Ideas? and Thank you for any and all suggestions.

Wi fi calling allows you to speak and access the internet at the same time. What set up do you have with your account? From what i understand you have to request it's activation on account / branded device? Interestingly enough the US networks enable it as default on unbranded firmware / devices.

Well folks I din't know what to say. I went over to Verizon to get this change made and of course was met with some flak.
After a few minutes of arguing I conceded to contact Verizon Tech support but before I did I decided to try this again.
First test was I started a remote control to my pc and then attempted to make a phone call and I'll be damned it worked.
Second I made a phone call and then started a remote control and again it worked.
Was something just not setup yet on my account? I don't know but ultimately it is working as it did before and that's all that matters to me.
Once gain I want to thank those who responded.

Yeah, what a surprise, it seems they have to enable it their end on branded firmware. Of course they also know you can flash unbranded and have none of their crappy apps and get Volte by default.

Question Issue with 4G on Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, non Samsung phone

I have just received the 4G model through today and tried to connect to my phone to copy the EE plan details over. However it seems it only works with Samsung phones. I have a Pixel 5, is there a workaround anyone knows of?
Many thanks!
Same issue here too but I'm using Oppo. Would have thought that with it being Wear OS over Tizen that the cellular would be opened up to more than just Samsung phones. Very frustrating really.

I've ended up returning mine and getting the bluetooth version instead. Only possible workaround I found was someone mentioning was setting up the esim through a compatible Galaxy phone, and then setting up on the non-samsung phone. Not sure if this would work, and sounds like too much hassle!
Christ... cheers for the tip! Might give it a go!
You need to borrow a Samsung phone to do it.
But tbh, it does not work either at this moment.
I think the Watch is too recent and they can't recognize it yet.
I'm going to wait and see if they remove restrictions, if not then I'll wait for another watch.
Just for information, I successfully got eSim working with a Galaxy A40, factory reset without clearing eSim and pairing it with a OnePlus 7T Pro.
French network.
I use the GW4 LTE with my Mi 11 Ultra and eSim is working fine on the watch. Was easy to set up.
Didn't need any Samsung phone at all for the watch.

I also used this procedure, I did it with my pixel 5 and it works fine with a Galaxy A51. French network (Orange).
One restriction : VOLTE must be activated with the sim card in Samsung phone, else, GalaxyWear displays error message.
Don't understand this.
I couldn't pair my watch with my Huawei phone, but that was because of the known Huawei block.
I've therefore decided to pair with another of my phones a Motorola.
No issue at all loading a vodafone eSim onto the watch (payg) with the Motorola having a giffgaff sim, also payg.
I only want to use the Vodafone eSim to keep me connected when out of Bluetooth range (apps and txt messages from my phone), and for voice calls I simply forward on when not answered to the Vodafone eSim number.
This way I don't need an expensive contract sim plan and add on watch sim plan.
I just bought the Galaxy watch 4 44mm and LTE activation is done easily with Mi 11x device Jio SIM(India),
I have not faced any issue, I had to wait for 5-10 minutes to open the Jio ESIM activation page to open.
Now it's working perfectly fine.
I have not used any Samsung device for this process

I have a buddy who works on cruise ships. He had purchased a OnePlus 8T (KB2003) he is back in India now and unable to use any SIM.

I think its a network band issur. Is there a way to switch or unlock them?
Since it's your buddy who is having this problem, not you...
You should ask him to contact the nearest OnePlus official support center.
This gives him the chance to describe what happened exactly to a tec pro and the best chance to solve his problem without losing any data on device.
If he can't do that, ask him to backup any useful data on device, read any useful posts here [ https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/oneplus-8t-guides-news-discussion.11585/ ], and try to get his firmware a re-flash.
My buddy did go to the service centre in India, they were pretty much useless.

Is your buddy you?
If not, tell him to learn how to unbrick his phone...
Lol, I find your comments funny. No I am not my buddy and the phone is not bricked, EU, and India have diffrent LTE, 5g bands and he didnt realise that while making the purchase. Now with the Indian simcard the phone doesn't connect to the network. And if you dont have anything but a snarky comment keep it to yourself.

Sure, relax.
The thing is, there are many potential reasons for this phenomenon, that your buddy's phone can not recognize any sim card:
1. Broken sim card, which is not likely because your buddy tried many sim cards;
2. Broken sim card slot, which is only repairable by tear down the phone and replace the slot itself;
3. Broken integrated circuit, this is hard to locate, especially if you work on a boat, the salt from the sea breeze can get into the phone and corrode the circuit, and this is not fixable;
4. Broken software, might be:
4.1. baseband firmware, which can be repaired by re-flashing the correct firmware (aka using msmtool, or fastboot commands);
4.2. android system application, if your buddy has modified or disabled some critical application, it may cause the sim card stop working too.
5. And many other possible reasons.
And you speculate that the reason is 4.1, but you're not providing more info.
Besides, it's your buddy's phone not yours, your buddy is actually the only person who knows what happened exactly before and after the glitch comes out, no one else can speak for the litigant.
So over all my suggest is, try to use msmtool to re-flash the whole system and see if it solves the problem.
If the problem is 4.1 or 4.2, your buddy's device would be repaired, and this method is way easier than typing fastboot and adb commands for beginner (many users have caused their devices to be completely bricked rather than stay dysfunctional by executing commands they know little about.).
But if msmtool can not fix it, then the problem might be in hardware (aka 1-3), it's better to try contact OnePlus after-sale warranty to have it replaced or refunded.

I reckon not suitable for India (suitable for EU) cellular profile is activated on device.
Your friend needs to activate one for India using QPST&PDC.

Question Adding eSim without a samsung phone ?

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone had any luck adding watch plan to their watch 4 without a Samsung phone at least here in UK I can't do it no matter how hard I tried gives me error -1 and tells me to go away
Are there any other options to try other than buying a Samsung phone on the side to set it up ?
When I setup my watch4 I did it with a OnePlus 8T and I never had it tell me it requires a Samsung phone. My carrier set the watch up for me, I didn't have to do anything besides give them the IMEI off the watch. After they got it done on their end, I went through the setup with the app and when it came to the part about activating the network, I picked my carrier and it just worked. But I am in the US.
My only advice is contact your carrier

I'm getting the same issue connecting my Watch5 with my Vivo X80 Pro. Trying to sort it out with EE but they've not even gotten to the point about me not having a Samsung phone, so that's something to look forward to.
Did you ever get it sorted with yours, and if so how?

So its just a classic EE moment (just like how you cant add your watch plan to non approved watch as they dont do qr codes) they added intentional restrictions to shift more samsungs
in the end i bought a s10 from giffgaff refurbished set up my watch then returned s10 reset watch without wiping esim and set it up with my current phone and works fine

Managed to borrow a Galaxy A41 from a friend while I was waiting for the returns pack from EE; set up the watch no problem. Reset to transfer to my Vivo - doesn't even see the phone in Bluetooth menu now, so won't pick it up in the Wear app
I did manage to repair it with my old phone though (Realme 8 Pro), so not sure if a hard reset on my phone is needed. I'd rather not have to do that though, as it's a faf to have to set up banking and stuff again after
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I got it working.
I connected the watch back to the Galaxy A41. All good so far.
I then connected the watch via the watch's Bluetooth menu to my Vivo phone.
The Wear app on my Vivo then saw it, but couldn't set it up (assuming as it's already set up on the Galaxy).
I reset the watch again but left the Wear app on my Vivo with the watch visible in the "pick your device" screen.
It worked, including the mobile plan. All good. What a fecking nightmare.
