XZ2 compact docomo de-bloating. - Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Guides, News, & Discussion

I am interested in removing the bloatware on the Xperia, but don't want to burn bridges that will disable anything vital on the phone.
If you have done this before I would love to hear from you.

You can try my debloat script, and if any features are missing, then just re-bloat it using the the rebloat script(Both scripts are in the zip). Personally I haven't found any feature missing, but you can also edit the script as an text file then just remove the lines containing package names of apps that you don't want to remove. Use any App Inspector app to view to view installed apps and their package names..

Thanks for the replay David. I will give that a try and report back

[AROMA] My After-Flash Apps - v1.4.1 [12-03-2013]

My After-Flash AppsVersion 1.4.1
Hi guys !
Boring to have to download again and again and again the same apps after flashing a new rom ?!
Maybe this tool is for you !
I'm used to flash roms, several times a week, almost always AOSP ROMS, or ROM without apps like manager files or like that, and sometimes i can't flash, over the current , so i need to wipe, and lost my apps, and have to download them and install them again and again ...
So i made an AROMA Installer, using Aroma App Package Creator , which i can use after flashing a new rom, like i reflash GAPPS ...
Maybe it could help someone, so i decided to share this with you !
AROMA config of this package is a little bit modified by myself.
I Hope you'll like it
ScreenShots

Installation
Download zip
Put the zip on your SD-Card
Reboot into Recovery
Install the zip file
Make your selection with AROMA environment
Reboot
Give me your feedback =)
ChangeLogs & Download
MAFFA_v1.4.1_12-03-2013
Q/A
For which device is this tool ?
> Because of the update-binary-installer file modified, it's made for Sensation and SensationXE,but maybe it could works on some others devicesHow can i put my own apps ?
> Open the zip file with Winrar for example, or your favorite tool, and just drag and drop your .apk files in My_Apps folder.
But be careful, names of your apps don't have to contain any spaces characters, replace them by an underscore "_", or something else !
Future Updates
Multi languages selection (English / French)
Possibility for people to add their own apps from a subfolder in SD-Card (without touching the zip file)
Suggestions
I don't want this package become too big, but any suggestions are welcomes
Will be updated regularily !!

Sounds like a useful tools, but I don't know if I get it right. Can I pull my apps into it or is it only for the above mentioned apps you already put in?

I made a little package with apps mentionned (that's why suggestions are wlecomes, if some could be added ), but you could try to put your own in, if you want. Or trying the tools i used before "Aroma app package creator".
I'm working on a dynamic online aroma creator, PHP based. You should be able to put your apk, and generate your own package ...
But not ready yet
Sounds great! :good:
Are those apps written in Aroma or only put into the apps sub folder?
I would try to put mine in...

The advantage of AROMA is to have a visual and make a choice of what app you want to install.
So you have to modify it to see your app in the list, and managed to select them for installation.
Or you could just add some lines code which will automatically install some apps, without prompting ... but better way to make a flashable zip instead of an AROMA installer if you have nothing to select
Will test it tomorrow when I reflash my rom. Tested so many apps, icons and themes, it's nearly full of crap :good:

Hi,
Like i said in first post, i used Aroma App Package Creator, to make my fisrt package, and see how it works.
After that, i made some modifications in the aroma-config file to had some features, changed the update-binary-installer file for one worked fine with our sensi.
So you can extract the zip linked, and add your apps in data, and changed some lines in aroma-config. there are some comments in this file, it could be easy to know where changes have to be done.
But i'm looking for the best way, to allow people to add in their own apps ... without making some dirty modifications directly in thoses files
i also said that i'm creating an online tool, which allow everybody to make it own aroma package, with apps they wanted into. But not ready yet.
For your apps, Facebook, is already in, i think i could add MX player ...
Most important i think is ES Files Explorer, which allow you to install other apps from your SD
For the others, if there are many suggestions about the same apps you wanted in, i will add them
Thx for your feedback
Little screenshot added !
Thanks For The Reply... I will flash 10.1 JB Today and will then try your installer
and yes the tools you included are best for basic installations , and most use them too , I had those in my app list but you already included them so i didn't posted them ..
New version 1.2.1 is ready !
Some apps updated
Google Current, SuperSU added
Installer fully ICS themed
Possibility to add your own apk in the installer (read Q/A in first post to know how to)
... some minors changes in code source
Hope you'll like it
Juz flashed this after updating a new ROM~
Seriously, its totally awesome! highly recommended to download this !!!
It is really really convenient!!!!

Att LG G3 Carrier IQ Removal Guide

Well I hate carrier IQ and just today I finally got it to 0 using Voodoo Carrier IQ Detector. I got some of it right away using the old G2 method, but I still was not clean so I spent a couple days poking around. Finally I found LADDM.apk.
You need ROOT, this is for the Att version.
Apps:
Android Tuner
Root Explorer (I think Android Tuner has a root exploer too)
More details from adiliyo (Thanks)
ok, for people who are new to this, here is how i did it
download android tuner
click on application manager
click / pivot to apps tab
click the button on the bottom that says user and it will change to system
longpress on android system
click open
click details
pivot to all the tabs and uncheck anything with carrier iq in it
remove lib files
uninstall apk mentioned
presto!
Using Android Tuner go to Apps then Android System. Go through and uncheck all Carrier IQ listings.
Then find LADDM.apk and delete it (Backup first is advised). This is a nasty app, all carrier IQ as far as I can tell and check out the permissions before you delete it, it really looks at how you use your phone.
I also went into System/lib and backed up then deleted the 2 carrier IQ files in there.
Reboot and then run Voodoo Carrier IQ Detector!
Here is my log:

Never used Android Tuner - could you give a more perceise step by step? I have no idea where you are talking about Apps then Android System
could you list the names of the files you unchecked from android tuner as well as in system/lib ?
i haven't been able to find any suspicious files on mine aside from the apk which i uninstalled (thanks!)
EDIT:
ok, i found the libs unsing the voodoo iq detector, everything else looks clean though, all i did was delete the apk...
i only show the libs (which i will delete now) and the boot detection agent that you have still showing as well, so i'm clean?
EDIT 2: as after removing the two iq libs, i get "android system has stopped" and it just looks time for adb
to be clear i had removed "libiq_client.so" and "libiq_service.so" from /system/lib
replacing them got rid of the crash. what am i missing?

if you have root explorer and didn't just delete them (i had moved them to back them up) you can slowly just copy them back (keep pushing ok and clicking on stuff before the error comes up again)
that's what i ended up doing since adb didn't want to see my phone on this computer. took like 10 minutes though...still looking for the files to remove so it works!
EDIT: added the files in case anyone deleted them and needs them
EDIT ok luckilyI saved them to dropbox - took a lot of quick finger movements but got them exported backa nd copied back into Sys Lib
So for anyone wanting to try this, don't just root explorer delete - just an FYI lol

Thanks for the idea! Downloaded the copy of the files in the post above to my work PC, saved them to Dropbox, then spent about 10 minutes furiously tapping on my screen to go to Dropbox app, export the files to the phone, open Root Explorer, select both files, navigate to the \system\lib folder, and paste. As soon as the paste completed, the errors stopped. I think I'll wait until I get home to tinker with this some more....that was a stressful hour trying to figure out how to fix this.

yes, after unchecking it's all fine to remove the libs (probably because system is no longer trying to access the libs!)

Here I posted screen shots of everything I've frozen along with everything I've unchecked. This should help you out a bit... Also do it in the following order.
1. Freeze laddm.apk
2. Uncheck all boxes with android tuner
3. Rename lib files to .bak extension

So I'm coming from an iPhone4 and I followed the steps and did all this. Except I just renamed the lib files to .bak but they're still showing up when I run the carrier iq checker. Do I HAVE to delete them? I figured renaming would do the trick just fine...

WARNINGS & DISCLAIMERS
Proceed with caution and at your own risk - I am not responsible if your phone self destructs, gets bricked, or melts.
Please keep in mind that both these methods will yield ROOT only - as of know there is no way to unlock bootloader on AT&T
Rooting and any other modifications to your phone will void your warranty - do not root if you do not know what you are doing.
Rooted devices will not be able to receive OTA updates. You may have to unroot and restore stock in order to accept updates.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ:
Q. Why do I need to be rooted to do this?
A. Because you will need access to the root and system folders.
Q. Why De-bloat my phone?
A. The manufacturer and the carrier install a bunch of branded apps that take up space and resources. By uninstalling these apps, you have less background activity, less space used and more resources to use for the apps you do want.
Q. Can I use Titanium Backup to Freeze these apps?
A. Freezing these apps will work, however freezing these apps does not free the space used by these apps.

If I remember correctly, LADDM is something to do with CarrierIQ. I think you shouldn't touch it on any LG AT&T ROM.

I've renamed LADDM after also stopping the related CarrierIQ services within Android System. I've seen no adverse effects.

There is no issues with removing LADDM.apk - it is CarrierIQ. It will not allow CarrierIQ to work - if you'd like you can also follow the removing CarrierIQ instructions and remove the lib files and disable everything in android tuner to completly get rid of everything. Either way - no adverse reaction to removing it... in fact its better to have one less thing stalking and tracking everything you do with your phone.

Try clicking on Mount R/W and it should ask for root permission.... Give permission and proceed... Also check to make sure you have SuperSU installed... If not installed then download from playstore, run, and reboot... Then try again

Thanks for putting up this how-to. I went ahead and followed the instructions to the "T", and then rebooted. I am a little confused as to why some apps still showed up in my app draw even though they were properly cut and moved to the new folder? I went ahead a tried clearing data for "home" to see if they would show when reloaded, however they still appeared. There were about 5-6 apps including twitter, ISIS, Lookout, and a few more than I forgot the names. I went ahead and manually removed them from the app draw, however I was wondering why they didn't disappear like the others did??
Thanks for your help!

Its probably because you had already updated these apps through the playstore... Just go to playstore and you should be able to uninstall them like any other app.

[PATCH] CWM Facebook Chat Enable

UPDATE
After doing some more fiddling around I found that you only need to issue a single command in order to disable the forced/optional install messenger page.
Code:
chattr +i /data/data/com.facebook.katana/databases/qe_db
This will prevent the app from opening the database for read/write operations, thus will disable all experiments(including the forced messenger experiment). In order to reverse this and to restore full functionality:
Code:
chattr -i /data/data/com.facebook.katana/databases/qe_db
I also updated the patch accordingly, so you can either flash the zip or install terminal/start adb and issue the command.
This little patch will do three things:
- disable the optional install messenger page; - disable the forced install messenger page;- remove the "click here to install messenger" banner from chat section;
Installation: download and flash.
Requirements: root, busybox
Status:
Working with latest Facebook Android Alpha v30.0.0.0.14
Why?
Well, as many of you were/still are I was annoyed also when Facebook decided to force me to use their Messenger. I have tested many combinations and I found this patch to be the least intrusive.
Enjoy.
Nice work, even though I deleted Facebook "About A Week Ago".
Just to let you know, the hack worked on my rooted GSIII with 4.4.2. However, it did kill a few options I like, such as viewing web pages within the app and comments to comments. I know my way around Android pretty well, except for terminal commands. Any chance you can throw together a flashable zip to reverse the previous one? I tried to make one but came up with zilch. Thanks!
I added an uninstaller that you can flash and it will reverse the changes.

Ahh perfect. Much thanks! I had a modded small Messenger app that worked, but recent Facebook app updates pretty much killed it. Guess I'll have to just put up with the official messenger for now. At least I've got the space and RAM for it.
Thank you very much for this work, you are the boss......
works fine on i9300
THX
Thank you! Works fine! But there is still a banner at the bottom saying "Check out the New Messenger" on the latest PlayStore version :angel:
And no user has an image? Is this related to this?#
Hmm big issue. You change the file attribute with the chattr command, everything okay BUT it seems to me that nandroid backups have problems with that :/
You could try to make a Xposed module out of this :good:
The Check out the New Messenger banner may show up from time to time. No user has an image is not related to this, all works fine except experiments. When doing nandroid/titanium/etc backups there should be no problem because theoretically the software will just need read permissions, and when restoring them only this file will be read-only, anyway if one wants to do backups, uninstall facebook, reverse the modification can easily use the chattr command again or flash the uninstall zip from CWM. I will look into the xposed module but I don't have a lot of experience in developing such a module, also that would be an extra dependency, my goal was to minimize the mods needed.

[MOD] Debloater for LineageOS & LineageOS Based ROMs

Debloater Zip
This is my first MOD.
I just made a zip for my own use and I'm sharing it here.
I personally don't like the system apps which come with LineageOS and LineageOS based ROMs. We all flash GApps and then end up having double apps like Calendar (Google Calendar and Stock LineageOS Calendar). This consumes more space in your "/system" partition.
I tend to remove these apps and use the ones provided by Google instead in "/data" partition. This saves space in "/system" and also doesn't allow to have double apps.
Hence I made a Debloater zip, I know there are various zips out there which can help you debloat your ROM, but they also come with installing something or other.
This zip is a pure Debloater zip. It will just remove the apps which are not used by many in general.
Code:
[SIZE="2"]The list of apps which I have removed from "/system/app" & "/system/priv-app" are
[LIST]Calendar[/LIST]
[LIST]CMFileManager[/LIST]
[LIST]Email[/LIST]
[LIST]Exchange2[/LIST]
[LIST]ExactCalculator[/LIST]
[LIST]Jelly[/LIST]
[LIST]PicoTts[/LIST]
[LIST]Launcher3[/LIST]
[LIST]Trebuchet[/LIST]
[LIST]Gallery2[/LIST][/SIZE]
If you guys want any particular app to be removed apart from these, I can make a separate zip file for you personally.
Don't forget to hit the Thanks button if you like my work.
Changelogs
V 1.0 Removes Everything listed above
V 1.0 Doesn't remove CMFileManager
V 1.2 Doesn't remove Launcher3 and Trebuchet
V 1.3 Removes DocumentsUI too

I'm using Resurrection Remix, hence I did not make a zip for AOSP Based ROMs. If someone can help me out with the location of these apps in AOSP Based ROMs can Telegram me, I'll make a zip for AOSP also.

Yeah, sure. Here you go.
Great concept! Just wondering if debloating this way is different from the aroma OpenGapps package in terms of removing stock system apps?

I added it in V 1.3, flash it, test it. If you get any kind of Force Close errors then just dirty flash your full rom zip file, and flash any of the previous version of Debloater which suits your need, and report back.

Your welcome. Thanks for the gapps-config file, I'll look into this later on. Seems nice.
Edit: The config file is nice, but that's too much work to do, If anyone personally wants it, it can be done. I've made that same process easy by making this zip.
Code:
delete_recursive("/system/app/Email");
delete_recursive("/system/app/Exchange2");
delete_recursive("/system/app/Calendar");
delete_recursive("/system/app/Jelly");
delete_recursive("/system/app/Camera2");
delete_recursive("/system/app/CMFileManager");
delete_recursive("/system/app/messaging");
delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/Launcher3");
delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/Trebuchet");
delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/DocumentsUI");
delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/Snap");
delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/OmniSwitch");
I use this code to remove all the bloatware while flashing the ROM zip
Removes most the things (can be used for other LOS and AOSP based ROMs too)

I would recommend you to do a clean install once again.
Also I have not been using OP2 since a while now hence I am unaware about the recent developments in the ROMs, so it might have been because of some changes from the ROM side too.
