Question Is the phone EOL? - Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro

I can't find the X3 Pro anywhere in shops anymore.
Official store says "sold out"
The price is only going upwards...
So did the phone reach End of Life?

I bought mine at Amazon Sale for 200 euros, was pretty neat deal.
And i really liked to recommend this phone to other people, but seems like that doesn't work anymore.
Anyone else has great recommendations on phones with decent SoC/CPU Power. good Camera AND a MicroSD slot to recommend to friends?

Again, what?
There is no reports of mass hardbrick of the X3 Pro.
And the initial question is also hard to understand. POCO X3 Pro is still avaiable in almost all the stores - just a quick google search shows that.
Eventualy the phone will "die" from updates by POCO, that is expected. But there is NO point to prove that those updates aren't happening...

I think you're out of touch, just search up the brick issue. As for the EOL it's still available almost everywhere in Dubai.

Issues with ROMs are not a general brick issue. There is no report from bricking as a major issue with X3 Pro.
The only ones are with custom roms - and most are people that do something wrong in the process...
If otherwise, show the sources: there is none.

I love my X3 Pro

This is from the official x3p updates channel. I haven't personally faced any issues.

that's video driver issue, I can get shortly that screen by going to (Lineage 18.1 ROM) default camera, change mode to HFR (no HDR) then go to camera mode (camera icon) and that screen comes up.
So, no
Isn't Poco X3 issue.
I've been playing to change between modes and the screen stopped responding (normal image, no error), just press few seconds to reboot and here I am, writing a reply.
I use another camera app, not the default one.

UFS 2.1 Vs UFS 2.0 polls. Let us know!

Guys, this is really tiring, how many people here got over 560 MBps? I guess almost everyone. What of below 540 MBps?
Maybe one person. Also, I'm getting 780+MBps as almost everyone here(some 800+MBps). Is UFS 2.0 able to give such speeds?
I'm not defending Huawei but it is very evident that as of time of asking, UFS 2.1 is having a landslide victory in the polls lol.
Why am I writing this you ask? Well, for one because I'm sick and tired of all the knee-jerk reactions and the naysayers coming all over trying to find fault and make us feel bad about buying the Mate 9.
Well, I'm very glad I did. This is a phone that whooped every phone's ass out there including giving S8 a good run for its money.
I love the phone, its speed, camera, heat management and battery. So please vote so we can have a numerical idea rather than comments only as it'll give a better perspective.
Thanks.
End of!!!
EDIT:
Please, before running Androbench, go to phone manager and optimize. After that, run the clean function then go to Androbench and test.
If it is above 500MBps, you should select UFS2.1
Not to be rude but why are you making a new thread about this? There's already one where there is a discussion about this..

I guess he wants confirmation to self, that he didn't purchase something aweful?
No guys, reason is not personal cos I got over 780MBps. And as I mentioned above I care less about benchmark statistics cos it's the same phone dishing out a can of ass whooping on other challengers.
The reason is very simple and that, I also explained above.
Any person visiting any other UFS threads has no idea of the ratio or percentage. The person can only go through posts and try to make sense of number of people with 2.1 or 2.0. Hence, visitors of this thread are not required to post but rather vote. In that respect, anyone who opens this thread will be met with a more complete and detailed information of test results by Huawei Mate 9 users.
That's the aim, not to take people away from other threads because from my own point of view, I've gone through 2 threads on UFS and I have no frigging idea which one (2.0 or 2.1) is more and by which percentage.

I don't have the phone, but i think the problem goes when, someone pays for something, they pay for everything that is advertised, so some people have rights to be mad
Anyways i'm sure the phone flies anyways with UFS 2.0, but imagine if someone gets eMMC 5.1, that is really really slow, or LPDDR3
Besides all, Mate 9 is a great phone, it is just Huawei doing shady things that makes people to think different about them (like removing the UFS 2.1 from Mate 9 Page)

Xiaomi BlackShark water cooling phone

Can't find a spot to post this. Since Mix 2s is new, I suppose this is the right spot?
Anyway, here's the new phone

It's about USD$480 for 8/128GB Snapdragon 845.
Comes with water cooling!

Yesterday I went to the release conference in Beijing, China. It's said that it's designed for games, but there's some serious problems on GPU control.
GPU performance is seriously limited for having longer battery life and better CPU performance, which is because some really popular Chinese games demands more CPU performance rather than GPU performance.
Photo quality is terrible, comparing to other phones you can get today.
The ROM,"Joy UI",is actually form Coolpad, and you can not get the bootloader unlocked officially. That is especially unfriendly to a developer.
(sorry for my poor English)

Oh my, it wouldn't be very useful if the bootloader cannot be unlocked. I guess it's still a good try for Xiaomi given their track record of providing value for money hardware.
Thanks for the background and your English is fine :good:

I wouldn't buy it. It's ugly as hell, there are other comparable phones for nearly the same price. The bootloader is as far as I know not unlockable -> no custom Roms and if it is unlockable nearly noone outside China will buy that phone -> no developers for custom Roms

GMS installing might be a problem.
No Chinese Android phone has GMS pre-installed.
We have to use a VPN to visit Google and GMS installed ourselves. This phone cannot be rooted up to now. So how you solve this problem?

Hi I got it working no problems. If you use the individual install files from the Mi Mix 2S MIUI forum everything works. Using the V2 or V3 google installer and calendar won't work.

I think it will be possible, because there's an OEM unlocking switch in the developer options, literally stating it allows the bootloader to be unlocked.
Also, when I boot by pressing power and both volume buttons, releasing only power when the S logo shows up, he goes to a black screen, from which he only boots when you keep the power button alone pressed for a good 5 seconds, similar to a dowload mode.
Could it be it has a download mode with black display?
You can't unlock the bootloader, because you don't know where to start. Nobody tried to unlock newer Xiaomis the unofficial way. It is way to complicated and the Black Shark is of no interest to people outside of china.
But, if there is anybody out there, i'm glad to help, as i do own a Black Shark myself.

Water cooling makes no difference at all: same throttling like my mix 2s. No rom dump possible as fastboot is not working properly. Device will not be detected.

ive mine for a couple of days now...i jump from huawei M10 pro to this BS and notice the different in term of performance obviously...for the temp BS performing well under load on pubg with highest setting compared to M10 pro with avg temp 70c on gamemode and keep prompt overheating each time played...BS are comfortable in hand coz it have thick bezel both side compare to the device have thin bezel all around make ur hand less fatigue on gaming...but the case feel cheap coz might easily break for some area...

Xiaomi's Black Shark is aimed at gamers specifically, not developers and custom ROM enthusiasts, I don't think it's a case of they don't care I think it's just intended for gaming, nothing more...

Meizu X8 (SD710, USB-C, small notch)

Did not find a general Meizu forum on XDA so I decided to start a thread here.
I got Meizu X8 two days ago. Seems to be a great phone for the price. Paid only $202 on the Meizu Official Store on Aliexpress.
Highlights.
Snapdragon 710
4/64, 6/128
IPS 6.15" 1080x2200
IMX362 f.1/9 Phase detection with dual pixel
3210mAh
151.2mm*74.6mm*7.8mm
USB-C
First impression is very good. I have previously owned Meizu 15 Plus and Pro 6 Plus, both of these phones had a lot of lag and stutter, X8 is much smoother and overall faster. Battery life seems good too. Drain around 12% per hour when the screen is on. Around 3-4% over 8 hours at night. Respectable stats taking into consideration that the battery is only 3200mAh. However, the best thing about X8 is the design. It looks much better compared to the Xiaomi Redmi-series. Love the small bezels and tiny notch, also build quality is really solid thanks to the metal frame around the phone. The IPS-panel is also very good and better than other phones with a similair price. I would say the screen is actually better than Pocophone F1 which I owned one month ago. On the bad side, swipe gestures are not as good as on MIUI.

I've just received this 3 days ago. Would agree with everything you have mentioned so far. Great phone for the price & like you, I had the Pro6 plus as well & this is a much better model. Battery does seem to last quite well considering it isn't that big, screen is nice & vibrant.
No real complaints so far apart from losing the ability to root the phone as with all models up until Flyme 7. I did try using the Meizu root tool but they haven't released/allowed it for the X8 yet.

Thanks alot for this! I was looking through the forum for the right Google camera APK but could only find the 16th version. Installed & working well.
May I ask what firmware/version you have? I was sent the Russian/Global version which means I can't change to either "A" or "G" so may be limited with future firmware upgrades or at least playing around with different versions like I used to with my Pro6 plus.
I've searched for anyway to change however there doesn't appear to be any way to do this currently.

I am using the global firmware, version: 7.1.7.1G. I bought mine on the Meizu Store on Aliexpress.
When I got the phone a earlier version of G-firmware was installed. However, it was not possible to update it OTA so I downloaded 7.1.7.1G. from Meizus homesite and made a clean flash from the recovery.
I dont expect a lot of updates on the global firmware. Meizu have a really poor track record when it comes to updating g-firmware. However, this phone runs great as it is now so I am satisfied anyway.

Thanks & yes, I don't expect much in the way of global updates. I was more thinking that with the G firmware one has the option to change to the A version which gets regular updates. I like playing around with different firmwares but having the RU version it won't be possible unless someone finds a way.

Sounds really odd that it is not possible to flash china firmware on your device. I have had Meizu phones with "vendor roms" but always flashed china firmware on these.
It is usually possible to flash china firmware on devices with global firmware (but not the other way around). I had Meizu 15 Plus with the chinese firmware, had to pay $15 to a guy who changed the device ID to global, it was then possible to flash the global firmware. Perhaps you can send him a message and ask about your problem: https://www.facebook.com/nguyenle.huu.5
I will probably stay on global firmware on my device. Android Auto and google contact sync does not work on chinese firmware.

Apparently with Flyme 7 they have removed that option. I was digging around at 4PDA & everyone there confirmed it wasn't possible if RU version was on the phone. Not sure why this would be as the only apparent differences I can see are specific Russian app's which are all linked to Yandex, perhaps there is some agreement between the two?
Thanks for the contact, I'll ask the question to see what's possible....

Yes, ask him. He might be able to help you.
Another option would be to sell the phone second hand and buy a new one with global or chinese firmware. It is dirt cheap now. Meizu Note 9 also seems like a good phone.
I tested both the stock camera and the gcam quite a lot yesterday. Night sight on gcam works great and is really fantastic . However, I do feel that the stock camera is as good as gcam in most other scenarios. That is a bit surprising since on the Xiaomi-phones I have owned, gcam is usally much better than the stock camera across the board.

It is a shame, though that phone born with treble but meizu is not updating android version, they dont even need to change any vendor, and also there is no developer support to do anything for treble. Looks like we are stuck with flyme and android 8.1 forever

Clear gcam's data from setrings/apps. And be sure you have the right version. Also some gcams doesn't shot without hdr+ is open.
Install another version of gcam but I prefer to use the native camera app for now

GAPPS

If I were to get my hands on one, would I be able to put GAPPS on it?
Serious question... Can't live with a phone without GAPPS.
Any serious thoughts about this?
IMO xiaomi.eu will probably have a ROM for this phone and it will include everything you need.

Thank you for responding. Nothing listed there yet (although, my account registration was considered spam, so I cannot see more than then the basics and cannot interact yet on that site). Is it generally the case that a new Xiaomi phone gets an EU rom even if it is not sold to their market? It is so tempting, to go the xiaomi route, I wish the oneplus 8Tpro was out right now, as I am in the market for a phone in the next two weeks ... not in October. Not sure if I could stomach having an outdated phone after a month or so... Generally, it is nice to have new tech be top shelf for at least a few months, right?
Hmmm - Food for thought.

Just get whatever you like.
Phones won't stop coming out. Till the end of the year there will be new Huawei, new Pixel, new OnePlus, probably new Oppo.... and then the circle starts all over again.

This is how I have done it on Mi 9 Transparent Edition. Don't see why it wont be the same.

Yes, it seems that gaps is easily placed on the device. Source:
Thank you for the response.
And while it would be great to have the best camera... I probably need to buy the oneplus 8 pro. I've gone a long time without active Google assistant, closed bootloader, and (as a non Mandarin user) the annoyance of Chinese menus/ecosystem within an 'English' setting. Also, been without an active community of English using Android users for some time with this Huawei I'm using.
Want to grab a phone next week... And Xiaomi looks like it is using that impossibly annoying hungry marketing technique where the sell a very limited number of phones at a certain time each day. I got 'lucky' buying my Samsung 8 with that type of annoying system on the first day or two, but..... So annoying when you're a bit slow at Chinese and you're actually competing to buy a product. So... Actually... Competing to spend money seems odd too.
Ok. One plus is well over a thousand RMB cheaper where I am too. Lastly, Think I'll enjoy the software experience more and hopefully won't notice the camera too much. Hoping that the October release of 8t Pro will not be too much of a massive upgrade and have me annoyed either
To those who grab the Xiaomi ten Ultra. Enjoy and hope to read some reviews soon.

Just to give you a heads up -> Xiaomi has a very large and active English community. All phones are easily unlocked and the community have been doing a great job to provide debloated English roms no matter if you buy a Chinese or global variant.
OP 8 Pro is a great device too.

Thank you for your reply. I have always enjoyed tinkering with Xiaomi products and ROMS. I have also often assisted non-tech interested colleagues to put GAPPs on or re-Rom to global over the years I have lived in China. Although it did get a little challenging for a period of a year not too long ago. I actually really love what they do ... and funnily I can see about half a dozen Xiaomi smart devices in the room I am typing from at home right now. Man, I love their door lock!!!! Ha.
I was really going to wait until 21 August 10 am and try to pick one up, then if not, get the Oneplus... but decided against it. A few reasons. I just realised that even if I picked up the way more expensive Samsung Ultra, I am missing out on some Google aspects that I crave and have craved for many years (see my phone history in sig). Even the Global ROMs (no guarantee one will appear for this China-only variant) have trouble using Hey Google natively in my experience - (could be wrong on that one)
Even so, have gone with the Oneplus pro purchase just now and that phone will arrive tomorrow. Would have arrived tonight if I had ordered 10 minutes earlier. lol - nothing like Chinese delivery systems I suppose. Or at least compared to Aus.
Another couple of things did sway me. Xiaomi phones are great but they honestly do sometimes go overboard with their claims. I can't be sure about this device's battery life longevity. Especially considering their claims of 23 minutes for full charge look to be false ( I know still the quickest). I remember their camera claim for 108 Megapixel etc fell short of being a top-line camera despite the hype. Often seem to use an angle that disguises a hidden flaw. Anyway, This understanding, combined with my full google assistant want, means I will miss out on it. Maybe when my wife updates her phone and they are more readily available (seriously, trying to compete with a billion people to purchase an online product when you're hampered by language constraints suck), I can switch her to this 10 Ultra (she takes waaaay better photos than me anyway).
Until then, Look forward to reading more about people's 10 Ultra as time goes by. Seems this is my last post in this forum thread ofor the Ultra for now.
Cheers!
Graphene battery is surely the future.
You can install the Play Store from the built in Mi App Store, then install all the Google apps you want from there.
Worth it. Best phone
I came from note 20 ultra and let me tell you this is much more comfortable in hands. Playstore is just one download away from having everything. I'm alsomuch happier using this phone tbh and manage to get back 500usd.
I got the Ultra yesterday, i can see that most Google stuffs work and i can set them up, no issues with location.
BUT here's what's not working:
1. Google Backup and Restore, stuck at waiting for backup.
2. Google Location History, i saw the option yesterday in settings, but it was greyed out, somehow after a reboot, the option disappear. Can't turn it on no matter where i try it from.
I am having am SOT of 5h 10m with about 20% power left.
Anyone else got the Mi 10 Ultra, got Google Location History working?
Mine the option is missing in Settings, and it's disabled or permanently off in Google account / maps.
Permanently off:

Just want to be sure it's not my ROM issue, lazy to reset and wipe cache to try again.
I've seen it talked about before on chinese roms and even Xiaomi devices,. I don't use it myself so unsure of a fix sorry but I did check my phone and it's exactly the same as yours looks
Sorry to hijack this thread. I just bought the mi 10 ultra. I installed playstore and all Google apps. But I realized that playstore is asking me to pay for apps I had previously purchased, even though I used the same account to log in. Anybody encountered this or know the solution?
Honestly start the unlock process and think about moving to xiaomi.eu
I didn't have that problem but a few Google things didn't work on stock. That's a really common issue though, I'd recommend googling it and trying what comes up, it's an extremely common issue with Google play services

Yes of course it'll work on EU ROM, my problem is with the stock rom.
I do not want to risk SafetyNet and Widevine L1 by unlocking..
Why would you unlock the phone then if you are staying on the stock Chinese ROM? If you're not going to flash, then don't unlock.

Widevine is level L1 on the .EU rom - so you're fine there. As for SafetyNet: all banking apps, government authorization apps and such work just fine on the unlocked - but NOT rooted - .EU rom.
So I don't see the problem.

Question Missing 1gb of ram...maybe.

As the title states a gig of memory is missing from my S22 Ultra. Under Device Care it shows 12gb, but under memory in Developer Options it show 11. BTW I have a Tab S7 with 6gb and it shows 6gb under both. Any ideas?
Safe to say it is not missing there was a discussion few years back on exactly the same question
What's running services show in Developer options? It should add up... unless Android 12 has some more new lame tricks.

This one?
I don't know my N10+ shows it as 12gb... across the board.
Here is a 3rd party app showing what's mentioned in the linked XDA thread.

Mine is showing 12 in both ???
Edit.... nope looks like I can't count, lol. Its 11 in running services too, maybe 1gb is used to help the gpu
1 2 3
1 The phone info Samsung, app is showing less than 11gb
2 Dev tools is showing the same
3 Another dev info app shows the same, strange
Shows 11. LOL. Even stranger is ATT specs has it as 8. Freakin' weird.

Don't these have a new kind of ram management? It doesn't apply to me so it's a passing curiosity at this point. You may be able to alter its settings. There are indications it doesn't work that well under heavy ram usage but I may be mistaken.
Either way I don't like changes like this... Gookill has always been a progressive mess that can't leave well enough alone. Invariably Google will keep "improving" a product until they break it.

Yeh, probably not the best way to explain it. No big deal. Just nitpicking.

my guess, and thats all it is, is its reserved for gpu to access or something, maybe the game booster app in my mods/apps/links thread makes use of the 1gb ram not showing
And yet another entry into the field:

Virtual ram, ah there it... isn't.
This is apparently Samsung's fail... this may not work so well... you may want to play with the settings.
I have serious doubts the hardware architecture can effectively support the bandwidth for effective virtual memory vs pure ram memory.
One bottleneck later... the 3yo N10+ is whipping the S22U to a pulp once the ram fills up (see 2nd link).
Why not just slam 16gb of ram into this puppy instead Sammy? As much as a battery hog as it is already this would have had a negligible impact on power consumption. Sammy skimped on expandable storage capacity (cheap) and ram (not as cheap). No wonder Samsung doesn't like the term power user anymore or the actual power users themselves... it's cheaper not to cater to them. I guess... but if you don't rock it, somebody will
