S28 Pro+ help required - General Questions and Answers

I am looking for info on my s28 pro+ (Chinese) phone.
It alledgedly has Android 11 installed but looking deeper with version check app it shows as only Android 4.4.2
I believe it to be the 4.4.2 as various apps etc do not install and it is a nightmare.
I would like info on any way of updating it properly.
Has anyone got this model and can help further with finding manufacturer so that I can delve deeper please?

it is correct it is not android 11 if not 4.4.2
maybe it's an outdated cell phone since it's chinese
try to go to settings/about/system update

if when you press update system it comes out that it is in the last update
It was probably scammed, so if you can, return it and say it's not Android 11.

it's not android 11 it's a modified rom to say it's android 11 but it's not

even this is not the correct cell phone model to confirm everything install cpu-z in play store

Thanks for your advice so far.
Bootloader unknown (see attached).

Reply from Seller was-
"please don't use irregular apps to detect devices. This kind of apps are mainly aimed at big-brand mobile phones, with pre-preset parameters of brand mobile phones. We are OEM versions of Chinese factories, and they don't have pre-preset parameters, so they are not sure"

I have searched for a firmware for this supposed cell phone model and I can't find it.
may i ask where or from which site this mobile was purchased and can it be returned?

[Completed] [Q] Who is responsible for OTA updates to Android

I'm a newbie, semi technical. My wie has a Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE. It automatically updated three times when I turned it on, and left her with Android kitkat. It updated without asking me. Now she has a phone with no access to her SD card. This is a problem. I read elsewhere there is no way to go back to an earlier edition of Android. I have read online that android 5.0 fixes this issue, but I'd like to confirm that before I try and update. I've also read those reviewers articles form Dec 2014 that breathlessly say that Android 5 is here, its here its finally here. Other articles say its not. I can't find anything from Android or Google or Samsung that says anything either way. So I'm totally confused.
I've tried to update the software on the phone but it says the software is up to date. I tried contacting t-mobile, but found nothing. Tmobile customer service said they had nothing to do with the upgrade. I cannot find a way to contact either google or android by email, and samsung did not answer my email. (I found no way to contact them by phone). I did download a zip file to my computer that supposedly has Android 5.0, but I don't know how to make the update. I have not found any instructions anywhere on the internet. Is it safe if I learn how to install it? Is there an official version of Android that will work on this phone? Where does it come from- Samsung, Android or Google?
Did those three updates come from Android, Samsung, Google or her carrier (T-mobile)? Can someone here a) explain to me who pushes android updates to a phone? and b) point me to where I can learn how to update her phone? Or c) tell me if (and) how I can go back to the original android version? (online forums are split on the issues: yes you can, no you can't; do it by a factory reset, no that cannot possibly work, etc etc.
The phone is still under warranty and I don't want to root it. (I don't know how anyway.) It already was unlocked when she bought it.
If anyone here can offer any help, I would appreciate it .
Thanks.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. If you have a gpe version of the $4 you should be able to flash the firmware using Odin. You can find the stock Rom at Samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com. For further information see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4. The gpe is the i9505

Huawei Mate 8 incompatible with Android Auto

Hi,
has anybody idea why is the top rated relatively new Huawei Mate 8 phone (runs Android Marshmallow) incompatible with the Android Auto app?
Google says on the troubleshooting pages:
My phone is incompatible
Some phones with Android Lollipop (5.0) and higher may be incompatible with Android Auto. If you see an "Incompatible phone" notification when opening the Android Auto app, your phone may not have enough memory or a video encoder that supports Android Auto.
The Mate 8 is a powerful phone: it is quite unlikely that there is an issue with the memory. Is there a workaround ? An apk file direct installation without Google Play did not work.
Thank you
Mike
Works fine on my phone. What model are you using? Have you rooted or flashed different region firmware?
Hi kunalmalviya ,
thank you for trying to help.
In the meantime I have found out that Google does not support the Android Auto app for all countries and my (Slovakia) is not listed unfortunately. So I do not know if there is an issue with the cellphone or the country.
I downloaded another apk files and manage to install them but none of them worked, i.e. I could not connect the phone with the car. I tried even the debug mode - I found on Youtube a video from Germany from someone who said that Huawei works only in debug mode.
Btw. I have a not rooted phone with original region FW, NXT-LO9, build NXT-L09C432B180, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.0.
Thank you
mike
I'm in the US and I am also seeing this phone is incompatible with Android Auto? I'm on L29C432B320
Do I need to flash to a different firmware?

Need help installing stock OS/ROM onto unknown branded tablet.

I have a tablet that is branded by a small company, it came free with a subscription. It is a 2016 8" android tablet at v5.1.1, it starts up with their logo and apps installed.
I want to remove this and install a stock normal version of Android, I understand this is the site to find ROMs but for specific devices. Problem is I don't think this is any known device and is custom specced and built by this company.
Is there a ROM I can use for this tablet? or is there any details I can give so we can narrow down a suitable ROM?
Thanks

Confused while trying to update my phone

Hello everyone,
I have bought a used Samsung Galaxy S8+ from China. I have been using it for a few days and i havent noticed anything odd. I don't know the phones origin or for how long has it been used before I got it.
It is running on Android 7.0 (Nougat). Since this is an older version of android I've been thinking to update it to Android 8.0 (Oreo). But I know that the phone doesn't have the originl ROM installed on it since I am not able to update it from the settings app and I also noticed that Knox was tripped in Odin mode.
This is the part which confuses me: if i enter Odin download mode there is a section which tells you your model number, and for me it says SM-G955N but if I look at the back of the phone or in the settings app it says SM-G955FD.
I was planning to download custom ROM and just simply install it via Odin app on my pc.
I'm just worried that I don't mess up something on my phone since the model numbers don't match up. How do I install any software update from this point and does the missmatching model number influence it?
I would very much appreciate anyones help, thanks.

Unlock bootloader confusion

Hey Guys,
I have been googling for a while now and I seem to constantly come across conflicting and at times worrying posts which has very much left me stuck right were I am. I just recently purchased a Mate 9 in the hope I would be able to, like all my previous mobiles install a custom rom and tweak it to my specific needs. This however hasn't been the case.
Firmware:
System 8.0.0.046
Dataver MHA-L09 8.0.0.371(C34)
Things that have been tried:
1. No I didn't get a boot unlocker code from the Huawei
2. Yes I have contacted them personally via two different channels and both returned with a we are happy to give it to you, that's not an issue, but this code doesn't exist anymore.
3. DC-Unlock tool didn't detect my mobile in manufacture mode, in which I found another forum post stating to use HCU 3.22 client instead which worked to the point of detecting my mobile, but told me that the current security patch not supported.
4. Contacting DC-Unlock, told me there is no ETA on getting this patch level to work
5. I have read people downgrading to a previous version, unlocking and then installed the custom rom via HiSuite, this doesn't give me that option.
6. I have read people downgrading to a previous version, unlocking and then installed the custom rom via firmware finder.
6.1 Issues with this is that I seen someone claim to upgrade to version 8.0.0.3.75, which is higher then mine, which enabled the rollback feature, is this correct?
6.2 Issues with this is that I have read that gpu turbo has been enabled and many have warned that rolling back to a pre-gpu turbo enabled firmware will brick you mobile and would result in a motherboard needing to be replaced for nearly the cost of the mobile itself.
I am tempted to try another site which I can't remember the name of, which if you pay considerably more then DC-Unlock. at least if they can't get the code, would be refunded. but I think that site is down now as I feel they were playing on people who didn't know how to have done it for free via the Huawei site back in 2018.
So I want to know is there a safe way to unlock my bootloader I think my only option is option 6 but just want more details from others who have done it this way before, or have I pretty much exhausted all my option and just bite the bullet and upgrade to 9.0.1.187 and possibly further through the OTA update process and just enjoy the mobile for what it is and it's limitations?
Thanks again.
You can try the spoofing method here on xda I updated from 8 to 9 with that, as long as firmware finder says your imei is approved

Thanks for that, I can already upgrade to 9, my system updates app is just waiting for me to accept. The issue is that I don't want to go forward. I really want to go backwards, so I can unlock my bootloader first. I'm already at the stage where I have tried most if not all the safe ways to unlocking my bootloader, but with my currently installed android version I can't. The only way forward for me it seems is the firmware finder app and SD force flash back to EMUI 5 aka Android 7 to use DC-Unlocker to unlock it first, then that gives me the freedom of installing the official Android 9 or openkirin.
I just worried as some people have stated that if you attempt a downgrade after a specific point, something about GPU turbo being enabled in later firmwares, which will brick your mobile.
I just want to hear from others who have done this successfully or if it's not possible in my case.
