Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-930F) displaying "security log agent" notification after root - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Is this something that happens when you root a Samsung phone or my device has been compromised by shady software?
It is my first time rooting an smartphone and it seems that bank apps won't allow rooted phones. I am thinking about flashing an official rom to fix these issues.
By the way, I used this guide to successfully root my device:

If you are on the stock rom then yes, it will show security log agent notif.
And you wont be able to use banking apps on rooted phones on any rom official or unofficial.
You can try using magisk hide but i've never tried it so not sure if it will work.

Rooting the Samsung Galaxy SM-J100VPP

I apologize if this is posted elsewhere in the forums, or if it's incorrectly placed, But I figured it may be useful to some.
after hours of looking and browsing the internet, I finally found a way to root my Samsung Galaxy J1 by Verizon.
You will need the following: Samsung Galaxy SM-J100VPP non rooted
Kingoroot application OR
Kingroot application.
Step 1) Go to your dialer and enter *#*#759#*#* or install an app called Hidden Menus and look for "Rlz Debug UI..."
Step 2) turn OEM Mode ON
Step 3) Use KingoRoot or King Root and click root.
This will work on devices that have received the OTA update from VZW.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone knows of a CWM Recovery or Custom Roms For this device, I would very much appreciate a link. if not, I will have to try to port it myself. Thanks in advance.

Bunk help
I've tried the king method and odin method and still can't root this J100VPP.
I even tied to brick it nothing. The king method stops at 90 percent. I'm lost, I need a new idea.
I have the exact same phone and I was able to root with kingroot.net. If I remember correctly I had to do it two times before it was successful.

I had a Samsung Galaxy J100VPP from Verizon, an I move to Guatemala, and a rooted the phone, and I need use the phone in Guatemala with the Guatemalan Companies, the companies are Tigo, Claro and Movistar, what you did to put in work your phone in Venezuela??? Help Please
Old thread but I just got root using Kingroot 4.9.5 to root SM-J100VPP with andriod 5.1.1 confirmed and working.:good:
Working for me but afraid to update it with the chainfire one want exposed on this
It worked for me with Kingroot and Hidden Menus but after optimizing with Kingroot and uninstalling a few bloatware apps, it crashed, restarted (with the open lock icon, "custom" underneath, now on startup) and no longer has root access in Root Checker, it saying "Root access is not properly installed on this device".
I think it should be noted that Kingroot originally told me root access was unavailable but below also said "Root strategy available, just try it", so I did. Now it seems that wasn't permanent. I won't attempt it again unless one of you has a lead that requires me to.
And how do I know if I got the OTA update from VZW?
Anyone else have this problem?
I am a greenhorn with this stuff. This is my first root attempt. Please be specific when directing me somewhere if needed.
I used Kingo root and after a few tries it worked. I like this better because I can use tasker with the build in Superuser (after build prob mod of course and for some reason supersu). I was not able to get tasker to work with King root.

The hidden menus is an app you can download from the play store to enable Rlz Debug UI to OEM mode. I have used Kingroot (which is the closest i get to rooting the phone) and Kingoroot. Just go to their sites and download the APK.

Questions About Rooting Note Pro 12.2

Is this the most recommended method to root my Verizon Note 12.2? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783950
Is this a permanent root? Will I be able to receive and install OTA updates from Verizon if I use this root and will the root be uninstalled as a result?

That's a good question . I'm looking to root without tripping Knox on my wifi version I just purchased off of ebay. I'm looking for an tar.md5 to start with.. Any help would be appreciated.
Same here. A White WiFi Note 12.2 64GB I bought off eBay, which according to Samsung's website, doesn't exist.
Hello,
Great tablet... I just got one off ebay myself and I see towelroot does not work- app not installed. I Allowed unknown sources in security. I am curious as to why you guys are concerned about tripping the knox since this I think this tablet would be out of warranty, unless you would not want to trip it for resale?
Any success on rooting so far? I am no too experienced but the first thing I'd like to do is get the apk from this enhanced s-note on all my other note tablets and phone.

I tried 2 different versions of Kingroot with no success.
Hi I used the cf auto root - check the 1st pic I attached. Once you plug in a windows pc it should download the samsung drivers then download that specific dl in the pic (I can't copynpaste on here)- it gives you the latest odin program download. It really easy from there. Once you reboot, supersu is there. I then dl'd root checker, titanium backup, busybox, root explorer and most important twrp manager from the play store. It was all too easy. I'm on 5.02 and I did check the knox and it started but stopped and said it couldn't be accessed at this time. I'm keeping the stock rom and just wiped dalvik and cache in recovery.

The most effective way to root this tablet is with Cf-autoroot. It will trip the Knox counter but it will permanently enable SuperSU on your device.
If you root your device you will NOT be able to take OTAs. If you run rooted stock firmware it will alert you that an update is available but most likely it will fail to install. I tried updating my firmware while rooted via Kies and it failed each time.

Root and security question

If you lose your phone or it gets stolen;
With rooted phone, a person can install a new rom and use it right?
W/out root, your phone can be bricked permanently if someone tries to factory reset? Via google or samsung account. Also, you can't use odin to install any ROMs?
Or has the security on the newest android phones like s7 now have better security even when a phone is rooted?
I'm on a verge of trying to decide if I should root my S7 or not.

1. He can either way wipe data. Root or no root. The question is can he skip the factory reset protection. There are ways to skip it. But this again has nothing to do with root on the phone.
2. There is currently no permanent brick. There are blog posts which suggests something like this would come in new android versions.

Samsung s10e security issues

Hi. I was trying to root my Samsung s10e with magisk, following instruction but it's failed. Later I've instaled pure firmware and re-locked oem but in some Samsung apps it's showing that my device was rooted and I cannot use them (eg Samsung Pass, Health...). Somebody knows how to fix it or if I will be able to get future update on the phone?

Unroot/relock with custom firmware

Hi there,
I've installed LOS 16 on my Galaxy S7 and I want to use my banking app on it. The problem is that the app says the device is rooted. I guess didn't root it. In download mode is written:
product name: SM-G930F
current binary: Custom
system status: Custom
FRP lock: OFF
Secure Download: Enabled
I also searched the internet for a solution but the only way I've find i to flash the stock firmware.
Is there any other way to relock the phone with LOS on it?
Thanks for your help!

The knox counter has tripped, it can't be reset, it doesn't matter what ROM you put on it now most banking apps will never work on the phone again.
Sorry buddy.

Thanks for your answer!
Probably it is such a Samsung specific problem. I've installed LOS on a Xiaomi A2 lite and the banking app is usable. So there is no way to revoke the root permission?
Edit: On my old HTC One m8 with LOS 16 it works also fine.

Yes of course you can revoke root by going back to stock or a custom ROM based on stock but not on LOS as its a totally custom ROM.
With regards to banking apps working, some do, most don't. It very much depends how that app makes a secure connection and if the provider is happy for it to run on a modified device.
My HSBC app works on my phone but that's the only one all others I've tried give the message "this device has been modified / isn not secure" etc. and won't run.
It's not the root that prevents this, it's the fact that when you root a device you trip the knox counter which cannot be reset because its a hardware fuse not software.
Thank you for your reply.
The fact with the hardware fuse is known and it should be not the problem with the banking app. Like I wrote it works with other devices which are already unlocked. Probably It is the custom ROM which is not based on the stock ROM.
I will try to install an other ROM based on stock ROM without the annoying pre installed apps.
Many many thanks for your help!
