Update your Galaxy Wear app and then go to Play Store on your GW4. Select My Apps and update Assistant. Then go to Watch Settings and set your default assistant app to Google Assistant. Thennnnn, you'll find the GA icon as a launchable app or you can set your press and hold button to Google Assistant to launch it that way and begin activation. Activation requires connection between your watch and phone to link GA. Activation will ask if you want to use personal results and voice match on your watch. Done.
GA can be launched using voice or hardware keys. To customize GA settings, Go into watch settings or Wear app on phone. Look for the Google settings (it has its own submenu) where your Google account info is located. There's a new setting available for GA there to customize Hey Google and other GA specific settings.
Turning off Hey Google significantly reduced battery drain I noticed. With the GW4, one day of battery life is the best we can hope for and that's not including sleep. If you want to make it throughout the day, you can have either Health sensors going off continuously or Hey Google on. Not both or you'll never make it. If you want to make it a whole day, including overnight, disable both.
Other battery saving tips:
-Turn off "Improve Accuracy" under watch location settings. It's worthless and burns battery.
-Turn off frequent syncing for samsung health steps data. Tap on steps on your phone. Tap 3 dots in top right corner. You'll see frequent syncing. Unless you actively track your steps religiously, this is an unnecessary battery burner. The level of accuracy you get without it is fine for most people.
-Turn off notifications on watch you don't care about. Every time a notification from your phone turns on your watch screen, you're burning battery. Indicidual Notifications can be turned off just for watch.
-Turn NFC off until you're ready to use it. The Google or Samsung Pay app will prompt you to turn it on so why leave it on all the time?
-If you don't actively use your tiles, get rid of them. Unnecessary battery burners.
-Make sure you limit location permissions. Very few Apps actually need location "All The Time".
-Turn off background app usage from Wear App on Phone.
-Make sure Mobile Network and WiFi are set to automatic. Biggest way to burn through those charges is with a mobile network you're not using actively.
-Turn on Mobile Battery Saver in Developer Options.
-Unless you actually use the quick launch gesture, turn it off.
-Turn off Customization Service. Another worthless Samsung Spyware Tracker that offers nothing of value other than selling your personal information for ad relevance.

I read that Google assistant is out only in selected markets. Any way to load it in other regions?
Good grief! They just released it...give it a few days!

I will also add that you can change the "system assistant app" on the default apps from bixby to GAssistant also to let it access the the screen text (same permission has in the phone).

My country (Portugal) is not in the markets selected but I had the update waiting on the store and have it working.
Check for it on the watch play store or for the icon on the apps if it maybe already auto updated.

hey thanks for sharing this. seems like i had the latest version of the app. had to reboot my phone once and i got it working
Can confirm that it is also working in Israel.
Good afternoon community. successfully configured with the Russian language. I live in Ukraine (we don't have an official Google Assistant). I am attaching screenshots. I can help set up - for free
Also available in Turkiye. "Which song is this?" command is not working as far as I tried. I loved that feature in Bixby.
Now that this is out, anyone think that removing bixby through adb won't break things?
Finally ! it does feel a bit slower than on the phone to recognize the voice inputs tho, anyone else experiencing this ?

I can't find anything on this.
So I'm trying to pair my Galaxy S5 with the Gear2 - it can see the Gear 2 on bluetooth, but there's no prompt to pair.
Gear Manager pops up an error message very quickly and force closes.
I don't particularly want to have to sign up with a samsung account and/or use their app store on my phone - is there any way around this?

i believe you need to have a Samsung app store account. how else will you have access to the thousands of great apps for the Gear 2 without one... lol, but seriously, no account no acess. there are few (if any) apps in android play store. Gear 2 runs on tizen, not Android.
as for the F/C, try uninstalling everything and try again. my Gear 2 paired up with my Note 3 right away.

I found a version of Gear manager as an apk download that runs, but you're right - what you can do with it is highly restricted.
I'm a little more privacy-aware than most android users, and as a result I'm probably not going to use the device much if it's locked to a corporate app store.

The apps download to your phone which transfers them to your watch. The only possible apps I can think of that might expose your watch data are fitness apps that transfer your stats back to the phone. Watch faces, games, etc. don't share any data but still, the only way to get them is through the Samsung App Store.
I use different aplications for creating tracks/routes for trekking, hiking, cycling...
I transfer GPX (or KML) files into Locus Pro app on my phone, where I use track with offline maps for navigation. It's also important for me to have option to add points of interest on that track.
Is there any option to use that kind of navigation on Gear S2?
Ideal would be option to transfer track and map (smaller part or region) on watch, with similar onscreen guidance as for example Locus or Google Maps. (Well, Locus app for Gear S2 would probably be my biggest wish. )
Other solution would be offline maps with track (and POI) on phone and partial mirroring of screen on watch. Similar like HERE, but mora that just arrows and roundabout exits.
Apps that I found so far:
HERE - not suitable for my needs. (I use offroad maps)
Gear Navigator - can't find app in Gear Store. (Or I don't know how to make it work?) I don't know if it works completely offline.
Komoot - it takes long time to start/find location. Tested on bike route outside and lost signal/navigation several times. and it doesnt show map.
I'm guessing (but not sure) that you have a 3G watch with internal GPS, in which case when I search for "navigator" on the app store I see "Gear Navigator Standalone," which is supposed to work without getting a location from your phone over bluetooth. (I don't have a 3G, so haven't tried it.)
If you don't have a 3G variation of the S2, and thus expect to have your watch connected to your phone via bluetooth when hiking and/or biking, Samsung's android S-Health app can track your travels when you initiate hiking or biking from the watch, and the resulting track can be saved and used in other apps after the fact. But that doesn't offer on-watch turn-by-turn guidance, afaik.
I have non 3G version. I can see my location on watch (Maps for Gear) or show simple navigation instructions (HERE for Gear). So getting GPS location from phone is not an issue.
What I'm looking for is not to track my path, but showing the map/route to follow.

Don't know why you're not seeing Gear Navigator. That has the option to choose between using online Google maps data or offline Here map data from your phone, and shows turn by turn, as well as -- optionally -- a tiny map showing your location/direction. Was a bit buggy when I tried it, but that was a while ago. I've had decent luck with komoot guidance when biking; it knows my local bike paths pretty well.
There's evidence that the Gear S2's bluetooth connection is laggy. Some software developers have mentioned this. I think this shows up in the navigation apps, so that directions to turn sometimes appear a bit late, just when you're at the intersection rather than 30 seconds before. Don't know if this is hardware or software problem. (I wonder if it has to do with battery saving efforts on the part of the Gear S2's designers.)

I contacted developer of Gear Navigator and it seems that there are some regional restrictions. Developer can't add my country, because it's not "in developer panel". I contacted later Samsung in my country and they said I should contact developer about his. Not funny!
I do believe that there is in fact problem that Samsung didn't add my country to the list of countries that have (full) access to paid apps. I explained to Samsung Suppport that other app stores work already in our country (like Google Store or iTunes Store) even for paid apps. Since both devices that I use (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Gear S2 Sport) are available in my country for purchase I expect to have access also to paid apps. I do understand that some apps are only in some regions available. But in this case, where developers wants to allow access, he is unable to do so, because my country is somehow not listed.
I've run into the Samsung support "it's the developer's problem" thing before; eventually one of them explained that things having to do with the store are just outside of their training. I wonder if there's anything we can do on this list to communicate to Samsung all the problems with their support. (The folks on the end of the phone are probably underpaid and undertrained and get blamed by their bosses if we give them bad ratings, so we'd need a way to reach somewhere higher in the system.)
OK, sorry - this is now off-topic, but may eventually partial solve (kind of) problem of navigation - if I could get access to Gear Navigator app for Gear S2.
How does Samsung define which country is in which region for access to Gear Store (or even Galaxy Store)? Is there any list of regions and countries in specific region?
(My country is part of Europe and EU member. However I can't access paid apps in Gear Store*. I guess some users from other EU countries can access paid apps in Gear Store. In this case my country must be in other region - probably. I'd like to clear this up and maybe ask someone at Samsung to change region for my country.)
* - I checked and I see only free apps also in "Galaxy App". Could be same reason. I never bothered with it, because I buy app through Google Play store.
I solved the problem - installed Gear Navigator.
I had to change the Samsung Gear Store to other country:
1. Installed VPN app on my phone
2. Cleared data for Galaxy Apps
3. Removed SIM card
4. Restart phone
5. Run VPN app (I choose region UK)
6. Run Samsung Gear Store and chose location UK
7. Browse apps that were before (for me) unavailable
9. Payment for apps works either with credit card or PayPal
I have installed (bought) all apps that I need.
Hello,
Question about "Gear Navigator".

you need a file manager for android, I use ES File Explorer, to open the gpx. When you touch the file the file explorer will ask you which app you want to open it with. You select Gear Navigator. You can even export GPX files from SHealth tracked running or hiking or cycling sessions and then upload it to Gear Navigator and use it to redo the same track.
Hi guys,
Its my first watch n hence am over whelmed by the information that I found regarding activation of Google assistant , ECG and BP for the indian version of the Samsung galaxy Watch 4.
I am on the latest os version one 4.5 ui but still cant figure out how to activate the google assistant.
I have already updated to the latest version on the watch but the "open on phone to activate" does nothing in the phone. Not sure where I am going wrong.
Also, I found a thread asking me to sideload the assistant go app but again there are 4 variants of the app in there. x64,x86 n what not. So couldn't understand which one to use.
Also, for ECG n BP if anyone could share any useful info on how to install them in India, it would be a great help.
Phone: Xiaomi Redmi note 10 pro ( android ver 12) ( Miui ver 13.0.5)
Watch os: 4.5 latest one in india
Thanks
I believe the Google app you want to side load is the x86 nodpi
As for the ecg and bp, Dante has a guide on this forum on how to install his modded Samsung health app on the watch and the phone to get all that working.
Hey thanks, I sideloaded the Google go assistant that I found on a "how to" guide online. But i cant set it as a default assitant in my watch. It works as long as i hit the app button in my watch. Neither can I set it as a long press shortcut instead of bixby. Funnily, I can do all this in my parents samsung phone by just changing the language.........but not in my xiaomi phone. Cant figure whats so different in them for google assistant to work on while not on the other.
My wife bought me the GT3 Pro in London last week. I was aware the ECG is not functional in the US, however I was able to register my account region as "UK" where ECG is functional, but I still can't get it to activate in the US. When I try it says my huawei ID and network don't match. I tried using just wifi or VPN and still can't get it to work. Are there any other options to try? thanks.
So I had originally used a VPN in Canada and registered in canada, but didn't spoof GPS so I had to start over.
I then stumbled onto this video
The extra step I took was to use airplane mode, too, to keep cellular off, but had BT and Wifi going.
No VPN needed.
spoofed GPS per video.
You may not have to do all the below and just "fake GPS" using your existing account.
Since I already had a "bad" account I needed to do the following prior to performing the steps in the video...
Factory reset the watch & killed the pairing with my P6P.
Cleared the storage and cache of the Huawei Health app. (Probably not needed, but just in case)
Uninstalled my original Huawei Health app.
Logged out of the Huawei app gallery app.
procured it from here earlier (but you will need the app galary using the new account you create per the video): https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/huawei/huawei-appgallery/huawei-appgallery-12-7-1-301-release/
Then, went into app gallery settings and cleared the cache and storage to wipe out all traces of the account.(probably not needed)
Got the latest beta Huawei Health version from apkmirror . (you don't have to use the one in the video)
Huawei Health 13.1.1.166-wearBeta APK Download by Huawei Software Technologies Co., Ltd. - APKMirror
Huawei Health 13.1.1.166-wearBeta APK Download by Huawei Software Technologies Co., Ltd. - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
Then I performed all the steps in the video with the exception that I used the beta HH app from APKmirror.
You have to use a new email address to make the new account, but that's easy enough!
I kept the fake gps app going while activiating the ECG and got it going on the watch simultaneously.
Once activated and performed a few tests, I turned off the fake gps app and use the watch as normal.
I am able to get all the "free" watch faces now too!

I am considering picking one of these up - thanks for this helpful info! Cheers!
I have a Huawei GT 2 & Honor GS Pro & a friend has A GT 3. On all of these, the notification function , SMS & FB Messenger have stopped working. Same on either Android or iPhone. The calling feature still works on mine. Has a recent update, either watch or phone broken these functions? Amazfit says that iOS update broke notifications on their watches.
P6P here on latest android 13 Jan 2023 update,
"latest" Huawei Health 13.0.1.310
"latest" Harmony OS 2.1.0.417
No issues with SMS notifications here.
Don't do FB, but Outlook and GM notifications come through too just fine. Caller ID is sketchy based on if native google dialer vs. google voice app for VOIP calls coming in. G-dialer shows caller id, voice doesn't.
Possibly you don't have all the permissions enabled for the app in Android?
Android 13's new "restricted setting" feature will, also, block the user from enabling an app's Notification Listener if the app was sideloaded using a non-session-based package installer!
The fix is to go to Apps in settings > Finding the app > clicking the top three dots top right corner and seeing the menu and allowing the app full permissions.
Not an iOS user so can't help; otherwise, I would likely have the iWatch and not the GT3 Pro... Also, being able to tweak stuff is why I am an android guy for life....no clue what you have to do in iOS.
