I need to unlock the bootloader on my 9A so that I can flash a different ROM.
However, when I try I get a message saying - unsuccessful wait 168 days
Is this normal on first attempt, and any way around the 7 week delay.

Sorry for my typo - I meant 7 days (168 hours), not 7 weeks.
I guess from your response that this 7 day wait is normal then.

The official bootloader unlock is already available on the support site.

after trying many times it does NOT unlock the bootloader checked in bootloader mode with fastboot getvar all and still locked
no ideia why would Asus provide a aplication that does not work maybe they fix it

Happened to me with my ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser before. Had to wait a few days for it to work. No idea what causes it, sorry.

i checked the app and it looks like the OK to unlock comes from asus servers ..you probably right i will test it again in two days i just restore the device after testing with factory reset

I also waited for 15 days.But OP is saying something else.
He is saying that waiting time was 15 days before.But after a week it increased to 1 month.
Xiaomi shouldn't have done this.

Yeah. That really sucks. I hope that's a bug and his waiting time will be back to 360 hours less.

Okay.. I this would not downgrade android version because security patch is old. Maybe it will improve on upcoming software updates or maybe not. You never know.
