sure thi phone will last for four yeras, the spec is so high, but of course when ever a new one is released its always more appealling than the last and so four years without upgrading seems a long time, im already waiting for the s23 lol ( i am extremely happy with my s22 ultra though)
same sentiments good thing we are back to snap dragon

With the news now that bootloader is locked for all carriers with the exception of exynos units, i find it as a huge hit, not to mention along with everything we lost at the s6 which i almost didn't get, now i lost infrared too... Since i decided to do the preorders plus the buy one get one free im going to keep both my s7 and s7 edge but after i get the card for the second phone there will be nothing holding me back from switching phones so ill be looking for a new flagship with unlocked bootloader. Any recommendations?

exactly. and then the s9 and so on until you're homeless and broke. :good::silly:
or just enjoy your phone
I really really like the S7 and would like to buy it since it seems to be the best 5" (kinda) phone around, even if it's 1 year old. I wanted to check with you if you think there are any valid alternatives that you consider worthy to be considered instead of the S7?
Price is somehow irrelevant since the S7 is probably the most espensive 5" there is, but in terms of specs and experiences.
S8 I guess.

Yes around 5.8" to be exact but the exterior dimensions will be similar to the s7.

That's interesting, at this point I wonder if I should wait for the S8 to come out or just buy the s7 now.. All these choices!
Just wait till its unveiled march 29th, if you still don't like it then the s7 will go on "sale" in your local classifieds the day the s8 is released.
I can't find any information on this, also a Samsung rep in a phone shop couldn't answer (the demo phone was actually running Android 6).
Anyone know?

The rep had to have been wrong, and I'm sure it won't have seamless updates. You'll get Android O like 3 months before the S9 comes out...

The s7 just got nougat last month, a whole year after the first dev preview came out.
Don't count on it. Never happens with Samsung

Why rooting and unlock bootloader is desired, it extends the life of the device!

Luckily this is XDA though, the home of custom ROMs and Android development. Unless you're in the US with a locked bootloader, we have updates quicker and for longer than Samsung will provide for us. Extending the life of the phone. That's less the case than it used to be but still a boon. I swap phones every year though so it's not an issue for me personally.
No, it's a Samsung / Android phone.
you made me spit coffee

Because it's so true.
The OPO is getting old now, I've had my 3years worth and loved it despite the issues I've faced!
However it's time to upgrade (new job, more money )
I'm in the mix between ;
Pixel 1 XL - £400 (Really like this phone, although the age is putting me off SLIGHTLY due to not going to get many official updates)
Pixel 2 - £630 (Quite a bit expensive, will leave me quite skint but possibly worth it; I want this device the most)
LG G6 - £400ish? £500 with a floating LG speaker (I REALLY like this device, especially for the money but the skin and delay in updates will probably make me ill lol)
Oneplus 5 8GB ram - £450 (student discount) (obviously this looks like the no brainer but i KNOW the jelly effect will really get to me, in nearly every review of it on youtube i notice it when they scroll; no one can change my mind about this but I've added it to see if theres yet a fix for it? or is there going to be one? I havent seen anything about it?)
;
And these are the phones, can anybody steer me into the right way? I honestly cannot decide, and my mind hasnt been made so I'm not biased against any however I'm least keen about the OP5.

I wouldn't choose them sort of phones anyway mate due to the inconvenience such as; they'd be imported, wouldnt have good support if anything was to happen and the sites selling the xiaomis at least havent had the best reviews.
The phones i suggested i can buy in town without hesitation, even the Oneplus 5 due to being in the UK and o2 selling oneplus products
I just want something that works, is great all round and smooth. (and something i'm able to flaunt to ALL of my iPhone friends that claim Android is for 'tramps and emo geeks' hahah )

Well I was going to get the honor when it was just out as my dad asked if i wanted to get it off him and swap him for my opo with some money on top but the software is a big killer, possibly THEA worst android skin on a mainstream phone. The look, the feel and everything is clunky and pretty fairly disgusting.
I dont think theres any other phone on the market I'd have other than i've stated, I really like the Moto Z but I can't find it for sale in the UK (reasonably priced anyway), Also like Sony xperia phones but again, they're too expensive for what they are. The new HTC u11 is £600 so again, too expensive all considering.

What do you guys think, will there be any law suits againts Samsung where they where promising a flagship and we received maybe 500€ worth of a phone. With all the problems going around like bad network signal, freezing when getting a call, bad GPS signal, camera is far from their promises. I can't belive that a phone can be this different from SD version, which i would not think for a 1300€ phone. I am affraid that many of these faults are hardware related and we will never get the phone it was promised, and will be just a shadow to SD version.
Im starting to believe that GOS issues were intruduced just so Exynos variant would not feel so much different to SD versions, so the must have reduces SD performance so i would compare more to Exsynos version.
If i could return the phone this instance i would, or at least if Samsung would give us option to swap it with SD version.
Dunno... I believe that many of the current issues can and will be fixed via updates and presently many tests indicate that the Exynos indeed isn't all that bad in most categories.
I am in fact most curious about reception quality aka modem, not sure if this is really fixable via software. Most tests so far indicate that the Snapdragon modem indeed is quite a bit ahead of the Exynos....
I have Exynos version (12/256) since day one, never experienced major problems with it, but starting with AVC6, the phone sometimes freezes and reboots for incoming calls, before I even answer. I don't like it.
So... I should not have ordered one today?

Sound like a plan.
Don't understand why anyone would purchase the Exynos device. It's not like Exynos has a good track record, it's been problematic for many years. Yeah, some users haven't had any issues but let's be honest, you're rolling the dice on a very expensive smartphone. Even if your carrier can't provision all their call features for the most part you'll lose carrier aggression and 5G. More than happy to sacrifice those features for a problem free device. Class Action Lawsuit? Good luck with that, you might get a check at some point down the road for $20. The only people making out on that front are the lawyers!

Yes, I'm aware of that. You still have the warranty but it has to be sent to the retailer for repair. I've had a number of devices purchased from Hong Kong, Snapdragon variants which never needed any type of repair so that hasn't been a concern, I would buy another again without hesitation.

I'm buying Exynos, because only it's available here in Europe, and I get it with insurance from my carrier, so repairs won't bankrupt me .
So, we don't have much option.

I would wait until June or July. By then you'll have the option to get the device with the Snapdragon SoC manufacturered in TSMC's Foundry.

Be sure to get a good pair of gloves so your hands don't fry when the K50 Pro exceeds120 degrees fahrenheit. And while you're at it don't forget to buy a couple cans of Raid Aeresol since it's MIUI 13 skin is jam packed with hundreds of bugs!
I ordered an exynos version this week, several weeks delayed, I hope that by the time it is in my hands these issues will be resolved.
