Question Auto Updated Even Though Auto Update Was Off. - Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Hello there,
I am using the A53 5G from AT&T I got the phone in March and since I got it I turned off auto update system in developer mode. From the beginning of March till today my phone never updated then just before I logged in here my phone auto restarted at 80% battery and automatically applied the software update.
I double even triple checked to make sure that auto update system was off and it was but it still happened. Could I have done anything in addition to prevent the phone from updating?
I don't understand why this happened does anyone have any insight on this? Maybe a samsung policy like after 60 days of not updating the phone forcefully updates? I really have no clue and am just trying to figure out if I could have done more.
I know they changed their policy with downgrading but I do not know if it can still be done revert the update and downgrade because I would like to roll back the update if I can.

The OTA update app acts about the same as malware and has every permission under the sun.
Use a package disabler or adb edit to kill it.
These are the two, the com.ws.dm one is what does firmware upgrades.

I haven't had to use it.
Have some links though:

The links are all different how to's for different adb you got ladp a wireless debugger app, a gui version of an adb, & a how to install adb from sdk
I just wanted to know if running that disable command is sufficient enough because it only disables it on the profile and not at the system so I didn't know if I would need to root the device to gets to truly disable it.

All I got... using Package Disabler is a lot easier.
You can ask AT&T advanced tech support to turn off OTA updates on their end. They can. I've done that before too.

What's the package for Service Provider update?

Randomly, out of no where, started getting "Service Provider Update" dialog about install software for my sim. Accepting it throws it into recovery with an error.
What's the package for it so I can disable it?
EDIT: After messing around with ADB, isolated the package: com.sec.android.AutoPreconfig.
A couple users had this issue in the T-mobile and Verizon forums, as well as I on U firmware, so hopefully this'll help those who encounter this issue with root.
EDIT:

The actual location of the file is /system/priv-app/AutoPreconfig/ and thats where the AutoPreconfig.apk file is located to be deleted.

Any chance you can provide instructions on how to disable or delete via adb??
EDIT: Figured it out:
You must be rooted, and then enter adb shell.
Then enter the following commands:
adb shell
su
pm list packages -e | grep 'AutoPreconfig'
pm disable com.sec.android.AutoPreconfig

Or just delete the APK file, also stops all the crappy carrier related apps installing

Good evening friends,
My Note 10 + N95F always when get start, more less 1 min later show me this mensage Service Provider Update.
Do you know If it work in N975F Android 10 ?
If yes, can I use these Comands in Teminal Emulator for Android 10 with ROOT?
adb shell
su
pm list packages -e | grep 'AutoPreconfig'
pm disable com.sec.android.AutoPreconfig
Thank you very Much
The "Service Provider Update" dialog pops up on Android 12 on my Samsung M-127f after installing Magisk. And the AutoPreconfig app isn't on android 12. and i can't uninstall an app that doesn't exist. So what to do then to solve it without going stock?

[Galaxy-S7][SM-G930F][6.0.1] Software update & related nagging pop-ups

Originally asked here but I admit I might have better start a new thread since it's unrelated.
Also, this happened BEFORE rooting as well.
I tried a trick to quit having software updates (firmware by Samsung) by clicking on the FotaAgent and "installing" it (doesn't actually install it, in /system/priv-app/FotaAgent/FotaAgent.apk but then I had the nagging "Unfortunately, Software Update has stopped" message a couple of times in a row on each boot or every time I turn on Wi-fi. I then tried fixing THAT by disabling DiagMonAgent through BK Disabler, but that now gives me a message (on boot up at the lock screen) saying "All apps associated with this action have been blocked, disabled or uninstalled". Not the end of the world but still, is there a way to end all this? I was thinking re-flashing the ROM (stock) but I'm hoping there's another solution.
I have then also tried going to /system/etc/security/ and renamed otacerts.zip adding a .bak as extension just so it doesn't find it (still doesn't solve the problem). Lastly, I went in Application Manager through the normal Marshmallow system menu and cleared cache on the "Software Update" (system apps) specifically. Still no success. Oh, and yes, I did wipe cache partition (maybe a million times, at each step). Any insight would be appreciated or anyone who's experienced this.

Thanks! I'll check them out later today and tell you guys if it worked or not. If it does (hopefully) this will also serve for Galaxy S7 users, I'll detail as much as possible if I manage to fix this. Thanks for the links
So, just to keep anyone reading this updated, I tried what was in both threads and still doesn't work. I even tried ADB'ing to PM HIDE com.samsung.android.firmware.tsp & com.policydm, but got the following error:
Code:
adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ pm hide com.policydm
[B]Error: java.lang.SecurityException: Neither user 2000 nor current process has android.permission.MANAGE_USERS.
1[/B]
(and yes, USB debugging was on, OEM unlock, and install from untrusted sources)
tried disabling them through BK Package Disabler, still get the pop-ups.
Will just re-flash at this point, wasting more time than had I just reflashed.
EDIT: oh, and did also try com.samsung.sdm & com.samsung.sdmviewer but couldn't find these at all, even through adb with the -u handle to view hidden ones.
But thanks again, could've worked

Complete uninstall system app or Install app with conflicting package

Hey guys, excuse my ignorance before I begin.
I am trying to install a modded Spotify apk on my Samsung GS7 Nougat [Rooted]. Spotify already comes pre-installed as a system app on my phone so installation fails due to "conflicting package".
Is there a way to complete uninstall a system app? I've tried titanium backup but it simply disables it, giving me the same installation error.
Alternatively is there a foolproof way of install the modded apk side by side with the "disabled" system app?

Yea that's possible, maybe a security thing, certain KNOX related apps won't run once you've rooted and tripped knox either
EDIT - It seems without encryption you can not use secure startup, you must have wiped and removed encryption

Try this

Or add Spotify to a debloat script and flash from TWRP

So I tried system app uninstaller earlier and it failed on all the apps, but it actually seemed to work this time. I finally managed to uninstall it and install the modded apk. Thank you very much for your help!

So, I understood that for whatever reason you don't have the red-framed button in your Magisk app as shown in my screenshot.

Last but not least, the following thread is monitored by highly knowledgable members who are certainly better suited to support you than me, although a search there could probably already provide a solution:

@marcwsa
You uninstall Magisk from within Magisk Manager app.
Apologies - but I am new to this and I think I may have bricked my phone now.
I did a complete wipe and now when it asks to reboot it says "No OS installed"
I fortunately still have access to the phone using USB to my PC so can transfer an image to the phone still. It ends up in /sdcard
BUT when I say install and point to the Pixel image file it goes all the way to the end and then on reboot says
No OS Installed Are you
sure you wish to reboot?

Make a copy via ApkExport
Scan with online Virustotal. Decide.
If you uninstall it and that doesn't work, factory reset.
i don't know if i installed it. till i know as installation was done on the date i mentioned, at that time pendamic was active. i was not working anymore on that time so as i know about that time i din't installed it but just a hours ago i notice this app in my installed app note as system apps.

It looks like a rooting app.
I'm not familiar with that device manufacturer or app. However it looks like a high risk apk to me especially if you're not rooted and can't recall downloading it. It's probably capable of causing a lot of damage.
If running on Android 9 or higher, a factory reset should purge any root kits if present. If you do a factory reset, set a new Google account password (make sure you write it down correctly) after the factory reset. Change any other critical passwords.

Do a scan with Malwarebytes afterwards.
Keep an eye on your download folder and make sure install unknown sources is always disabled unless you need to use it to sideload.
Be careful what you install...
