Hey guys, excuse my ignorance before I begin.
I am trying to install a modded Spotify apk on my Samsung GS7 Nougat [Rooted]. Spotify already comes pre-installed as a system app on my phone so installation fails due to "conflicting package".
Is there a way to complete uninstall a system app? I've tried titanium backup but it simply disables it, giving me the same installation error.
Alternatively is there a foolproof way of install the modded apk side by side with the "disabled" system app?

I'm afraid that selection literally does not exist in my options. Is it possible it disappeared after root or something? I'm running 7.0 G930W8VLU2BQG4

Yea that's possible, maybe a security thing, certain KNOX related apps won't run once you've rooted and tripped knox either
EDIT - It seems without encryption you can not use secure startup, you must have wiped and removed encryption

So I tried system app uninstaller earlier and it failed on all the apps, but it actually seemed to work this time. I finally managed to uninstall it and install the modded apk. Thank you very much for your help!

I still didn't tested if removing that would provoke some incompatibility with the system or not, but I'm interested since that I'd like to remove HiCare too.
So, you could try to take a TWRP backup, remove the app (I'd rely on this method https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/ because normal root uninstallers won't work, i already tried that) and check if after booting to OS there would be impacts on system, somehow, or not.

or you convert them to user app via root uninstaller and then remove them. it works most of the times.

I'm used Titanium Backup to delete apps, but this worked not for all apps. For others download a app from PlayStore called App Inspector. This app shows "source dir" where apps are instaled(current folder location). Then removed with root explorer ? ?

Thanks to both of you for your answers, I'll try Shashank's one first
@shashank1320 mate just tried with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.rootuninstaller in combination with this BusyBox installer (required to convert system apps to normal by what root uninstaller prompted to me) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.busybox and after the apparently conversion, the uninstall process was marked as "successful" even if the apps remains there where they are. I'll try Martin213 method next

Thanks @Martin213, it worked as it should. App Inspector gave me the details on which folder i had to follow for directly extirpate those apps straight from the root.

Hey Martin, removing these apps gave you some problems in following days or not? While removing some apps last time i come at a point where the latest TWRP backups made was impossible to restore... Did you noticed any other issues on OS functionality after removing Huawei services, ecc.?
.
Martin213 said:
No I didn't face any issue accept gmail sync delay... SOMETIMES So installed Huawei services back But I'm not sure maybe this issue for greenify, magisk module "doze sleep for google services" or battery power saving mod. After removing these apps and services i re-lashed firm and restored TWR backup successfully so no issue there too. Maybe something else call you TWRP functionality problems.

Perfect, thanks for the info
Got a rooted op7p & various versions of my favourite apps installed that I don't want to update. Because there not the latest versions they stay stuck in my update list in the play store!
Is there a magisk module or app I can run to remove them from the list so I'm not constantly told to update or accidentally update it?
Think I might have solved it!
Went into Titanium backup pro, found the app, scrolled across to 'special features', then 'detach from the market'! There no longer in the update list now anyway ?
Detach is one that is for this
Titanium Backup like you found is another option
However, in my experience, both apps don't keep apps removed. After some time, they will show up again
Yeah your right, already popped back up!
Any idea how to permanently get rid of them?
You can turn off updates from the google play store itself, and it never notifies you.
Go into google play > Settings > Auto-update apps | Set to Don't auto-update apps. If I want to update something, I go in manually and choose what I want to update.
As for Magisk modules, also under settings, turn off Check Updates.
Titanium Backup was my first play store purchase for those features as well
Hi there, I have found a work around for this.

then follow the instructions on the page.
Make sure you create a txt file named as peulist.txt under root directory /data/cache/peulist.txt... once done reboot after flashing the file and include the apps with there package name that you want to exclude from the update list.

Um... any idea how you can UNDO this, so all available updates will show up again? I've tried disabling the module and rebooted, but the changes seem to stay...
Does anyone know what exactly this module does/changes? It does not seem to be really well documented...

So, I understood that for whatever reason you don't have the red-framed button in your Magisk app as shown in my screenshot.

@marcwsa
You uninstall Magisk from within Magisk Manager app.
Apologies - but I am new to this and I think I may have bricked my phone now.
I did a complete wipe and now when it asks to reboot it says "No OS installed"
I fortunately still have access to the phone using USB to my PC so can transfer an image to the phone still. It ends up in /sdcard
BUT when I say install and point to the Pixel image file it goes all the way to the end and then on reboot says
No OS Installed Are you
sure you wish to reboot?

Did you install it?
Make a copy via ApkExport
Scan with online Virustotal. Decide.
If you uninstall it and that doesn't work, factory reset.
i don't know if i installed it. till i know as installation was done on the date i mentioned, at that time pendamic was active. i was not working anymore on that time so as i know about that time i din't installed it but just a hours ago i notice this app in my installed app note as system apps.

It looks like a rooting app.
I'm not familiar with that device manufacturer or app. However it looks like a high risk apk to me especially if you're not rooted and can't recall downloading it. It's probably capable of causing a lot of damage.
If running on Android 9 or higher, a factory reset should purge any root kits if present. If you do a factory reset, set a new Google account password (make sure you write it down correctly) after the factory reset. Change any other critical passwords.

Do a scan with Malwarebytes afterwards.
Keep an eye on your download folder and make sure install unknown sources is always disabled unless you need to use it to sideload.
Be careful what you install...
Hi,
I am a little bit confused by apps like
iMyFone LockWiper
Do they work ? How do they work without erasing user data ?
If a phone has a password and finger-print lock with USB debugging disabled and bootloader locked, the data should be encrypted.
How are these apps working ?
Or is this just snake-oil ?
Phone in question is Samsung J7 Pro, Android 12 (no root, stock rom, bootloader locked, usb debugging disabled, password and fingerprint protection)
Thanks.

Well I can't give it a try because I don't have a phone which I can sacrifice if things go wrong.
And also the point of asking this question was to find out what is actually secure on the phone if it gets lost.
Is there a way to bypass the lockscreens ? How do I protect against that ?
as you can read there is stated "only for early Samsung devices"
early Samsung devices uses FDE full-disk encryption up to Android 10. encryption key is generated with 'default_password' no credentials used, that allow reset screen lock by deleting locksettings.db file.
However, on locked bootloader that's only possible by gaining root access temporary installing official Samsung signed firmware (such as combination firmware) or via exploit. Maybe Samsung employer has leaked private signing key to that itoolab.com company - we don't know...
Android OEM key leak means sideloaded "updates" could be hiding serious malware
Samsung, LG, and MediaTek are among the companies affected.
www.xda-developers.com
but I know it won't work for your device, because Android 12 must run FBE file-based encryption
