Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, this is my first thread.
I am in trouble with my tablet which is Onda v811.
I am having a video playing issue since I have updated my tablet to version 4.11 (on android 4.03 there wasn't a problem). Everything is perfect but the videos. When I want to play videos on browser (Dolphin, generally) or official Youtube app videos opening, playing but it is very small for the screen size. I make the video fullscreen but nothing changes. So, videos are opening, there is no problem with this but aspect ratio is not keeped and uses 1 of tenth of the screen, as I tried to show in the photo below.
Photo is not good but I drew lines to explain myself better.
White lines in the photo, marks the tablet's outer lines and screen. Inner yellow line surrounds the video. This is how a video looked on my tablet:
Picture: [http]://c1303.hizliresim.com/17/2/knwuc.jpg (sorry cannot paste links due to community rules)
I had uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and installed again (ver. 11.1) but didn't help. Searched the entire web but found nothing.
Has anyone got an idea about this problem? Any help is appriciated.
My English is not so good, sorry for that. I tried to explain, I hope i succeeded.
Okay this had to be the title for the thread as what i discovered about NEX is seriously crazy.
What i discovered is, that NEX's display can render much better colours both while watching videos and browsing images, but the built AI **** is decreasing the quality of the display by reducing the saturation and a bit of sharpness.
How i discovered this: While i was browsing some 2K videos on NEX youtube app, i watched on video which is a 2K HDR 10 video and it looked completely off on the NEX display. It looked completely greyed out and horribly pale and i right away knew that the built in AI is doing something wrong. So, to further confirm this, i downloaded this app called NewPipe, which streams youtube videos and i saw that the same video which was looking horrible on the stock youtube app is looking really nice on this app. In fact the colours were looking as good as it looked on my Note 8. I was super surprised for a moment as i never thought NEX's display is capable of matching the Note 8's display in terms of colours and sharpness. So, once i was sure that its the AI thats decreasing the saturation of the display while we watch any content using the stock app, i downloaded a Gallery app from play store to check if its doing the same thing to the pictures too and as it turned out, the colours of the same image looked so much more better on that third party gallery app than it did in the stock gallery app.
So, now what i really want to know is, how to switch this AI thing off. If not completely, i want to at least disable it while watching videos and browsing images. I seriously dont know why has Vivo done this, as it is not doing any good to the display. In fact its bringing down the actual performance of the display which would have affected their sales over all. I am sure there would have been people comparing the Note 8 or S9's display to NEX and would have changed their decision based on it and one famous reviewer has compared it against the S9 plus and he clearly says the NEX's display cant match to the S9's, which is not at all the case.
I am super sensitive about colours and i really really happy that NEX can deliver colours as good as my Note 8, which was my only complain. While i am super happy after discovering this, i am equally restless to figure out a way to disable that AI thing on certain apps. You guys too can do this test and see the results for yourself. Let me know if anyone of you can find a solution for this.
Also, attaching comparison pictures of the display colours while using the stock gallery app against using a third party app.

I too noticed this while putting wallpapers on mobile.
From 1st day I am using Google's gallery app i.e. Photos , while pictures looked brilliant in the app but whenever I set a picture as wallpaper , it looks dull.
Second time I noticed it when I saw Avengers on MX player, colors looked bright and punchy where as it's trailer on YouTube looked very dull in comparison.
Exactly!! Hope someone can find a solution for this. Such a shame they are restricting what this phone can deliver.

HOLLY CRAP!!! I looked at your pictures but really couldn't see it. I then did same test you did and I'm Blown Away. This is horrible. See the attached examples. We need to chase support on this one for sure. For reference..I used the YouTube app vs new pipe app. U also checked the stock photo gallery versus a replacement photo gallery and you can also see the difference there ....see the last pic

Can you compare both mobiles playing Netflix and Amazon prime?

I did and the colors look much better on the Note 8 and I am sure that the colours on the NEX can also look equally better provided someone finds out a way to turn of the AI thing.
I wish I can unsee it
If you want to really hate the AI, access YouTube in your mobile browser and then switch to request the desktop version. Then set it to a high resolution and look at the stunning quality.
I now seriously hate this AI!
Also just validated ..this is happening with the official and vanced versions of the YouTube app.
Tested:
- I installed older official YouTube apps - same issue
- I installed a few third party YouTube apps - all had beautiful color saturation
Jesus!!
What a mess.
Good that i'm always uninstalling all stock app and replaced them with third party for example for gallery i'm using Google Photo or Quick Pic with all my smartphone.
But must be some kind of spesific services related to AI that should remove via ADB that would be the best solution.
Anyone contact ViVo about this problem ?

I will be tomorrow with the photos and this forum presented as exhibits. I have been talking to vivo support on an off for the past week, so I suspect it will at least get logged.
I see the same problem. I used ES Explorer and default album with multitask to compare side by side. Really strange ...
I always use the QuickPic Since I got the device , However noticed the Bad quality with YouTube when I attempted to test a Video Playback . Mx player has better performance.
Lets Push Vivo Team to Correct this , There is a separate thread on XDA requesting them to release the source code.
Once they release the Source , I guess these problems will be Easily resolved.
Regards,
H
Also, you guys can use a third party app to set the wallpapers for both desktop and lock screen. It looks so much better when you do that. And if we should reach to Vivo on this. It's shame that their team has not checked on this, which is such a major thing.
Youtube and Youtube Vanced apps are playing video in 1080p HDR / 4KHDR mode , NewPipe is playing video in 1080p/4K Normal mode. you can check in video stream selection settings.

That's interesting. But where do you find those settings? On the youtube app or under phone settings?

Hi,
I have the P30 for about 5 days now and from the first day i have some issues with scrolling in Youtube and Chrome, it`s very chpppy. In other apps is fine even though its not fast is smooth. Anyone have this problem? I have the latest update .124 and i did reset it once but the problem persist. I had an HTC U11 and it was super smooth in both Youtube and Chrome.
I also noticed this. As soon as a Youtube video is playing it gets laggy. Same for Firefox, sometimes it just stops, then jumps. Seems to be normal, i hope they'll fix this. That's the one thing i loved about Sony phones: They're so damn smooth.
I noticed this too. It's fine at first, but once a preview video starts to play on the main feed, it gets choppy, but only when scrolling down. Scrolling back up remains smooth.
Haven't noticed this so far. Made a quick test on YouTube, with and without video playing and the scrolling is smooth. Only if I scroll very fast and it has to load more videos it will get stuck from told to time but I think that's normal

i dont think so.. I have a oneplus 3 and its pretty smooth in youtube videos.. I bought a p30 5 days ago and in noticed the laggy youtube too. Hope it fix soon
I've noticed this also. I've also seen a few reviewers report this.
Hopefully sorted in a future update.
Experiencing choppy scrolling as well. Mostly in Chrome on pages with lots of ads, videos and photos. Not having any issues in YouTube though.
No laggy issues with firefox app in youtube page
I got my P30 2 days ago, and updated to the latest EMUI out of the box. Tried replicating the issue, based on the descriptions above, but have thus far been unsuccessful (which is good!).
Yesterday i updtated the youtube app and no more laggy issues!!!
I'm still having the issue even though I updated the phone and youtube.
another issue is in google maps when you start the navigation tool.. the laggy in youtube persists when you watch the video in 1080p 60fps...
I notice it's a bit choppy when I'm playing SimCity Buildit and I visit other players' cities. Is it something to do with the refresh rate for those apps, maybe? Could that be clashing with the P30 refresh rate?
version 161 is still very choppy laggy in video playing apps (e.g. YouTube)

I have version 161 and it's still very laggy and choppy whenever video is playing.
So i tested my P30 and no issue in youtube app. In chrome when scrolling sometimes it is laggy because the animated ads start oalying when scrolling. Beside that no issues. Im on 161 firmware.
Just bought P30. The phone is fast but scrolling in bluetooth(when searching for device) and YouTube makes me a little angry... I hope they will fix this soon.

Same here. The scrolling is also very slow on some apps ( not choppy, just slow).
Same here, got a Huawei p30 some days ago, awsome device but Youtube app get's low frame drops and choppy when:
- Scrolling comments while video is playing (if video goes pause, it's smooth)
- When going to wide full screen, videos seems to have lower framerate (not 60)
- When autorotating the screen from vertical to portrait and forth
Is there any way to adivice Huawei or Google about this? plenty of post in even other sites has the same issue with Youtube.
Exactly same issues on my device. Waiting for fix.
Hello everyone,
I just recently switched from a HTC U11 to this wonderful MI 10 Pro and I couldn't be happier.
There's just one little thing that I realized and I don't know where I did something wrong in my settings or if it's a ROM issue.
Whenever I watch a Video in full screen, the phone kinda cuts off the sides (probably to fit in the full screen instead of putting a black bar over/under the video).
I find this quite annoying because I'm sometimes missing out on important information that's sometimes written on the screen.
This happens with all apps I tried (Instagram/IGTV, YouTube and Kiwi Browser).
Have you experienced that behavior before and how did you solve it?
I attached a Screenshot on how it actually looks like.
EDIT: I'm on MIUI Global 11.0.10.0
Have you tried pinch to zoom out?

Pinch to zoom only works on YouTube and only on horizontal videos. Not working on Instagram at all, Browser at all or on vertical videos on YouTube ?
Are there any settings somewher in the system that I need to check?
