Rooting Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I need some advice regarding Lenovo's Yoga Tab 13 (sold in China as Yoga Pad Pro). Did anyone manage to root the North American version successfully?
I'm really interested in buying one, but I can't find any confirmation about its rooting. There's a generic "Guide to Root <insert name> with Magisk [Without TWRP]" guide on the web, but I have no idea if it's really applicable to Tab 13 or if the stock NA firmware is even available for download.
Sorry if it's a noob question. I haven't rooted anything since 2015 and have no idea how things work today. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Did you find out of outs rootable?

No. It's like nobody in the world has this. Which is really surprising since it's a great tablet and you can buy it directly from Lenovo (eBay) dirt cheap compared to the alternatives.

Thanks for the info.

Yoga Tab 13 doesn't have any limitation on unlocking bootloader and it can be potentially rootable in the same way as other Yoga tablets:

There is no TWRP yet for Yoga Tab 13 (model YT-K606F), so you need to patch your own boot.img (available in official image downloaded by Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant) with Magisk.
My tablet is still under warranty and I may try rooting after it expires.

@awdrifter @Droidman666
I've just bought this tablet and I can confirm that this method is also valid for this tablets

I can also confirm rooting is possible using magisk and patching boot.img.

Out of curiosity do you try the patched boot.img method or were you able to install twrp?
I've just purchased one and it should be arriving next week, I wan't to try and install GSI roms on it.

Patched boot.img. I don't think there is any TWRP build for this device. As far as I remember, you can install them via fastboot.

There's twrp for YT-X705F,X,L here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...rp-recovery-on-lenovo-yoga-smart-tab.4453597/
Yeah fastboot is always an option, just curious about trwp

Hopefully there's a path to android 13 with the monitor input working if we can root it. Looks like that's not coming from Lenovo based on their latest upgrade matrix. The TB-Q706 has the same HDMI input and official Android 13 support from Lenovo. Maybe would make it easier to build a ROM.

I guess we also would need the source released which I don't see on the open Lenovo site. Right?

There's a version of source code provided on "Lenovo Open Source Portal" website (build s100101_210209). It may require some effort finding code related to HDMI connection, if there's any.
As far as I know there's no other Lenovo tablet with an HDMI input apart from Yoga Tab 13. The P12 Pro (TB-Q706F) has HDMI out via USB-C and it's the only data port on that tablet.

This is such a great tablet. It's like the only one at this price point with 8GB of RAM, and you can use it as a second monitor for your laptop while on the go. I have no idea why not many people own this one.

Hi, someone send me a link for stock rom Android 11 (YT-K606F_S200029_210421_ROW – 11) ? please.

Is the phone treble enabled?

Hello Everyone!
I'm currently trying to decide whether to get the Honor Note 10, or the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. While the former clearly shows strength in terms of processing power, design etc., the later one has a major advantage in software due to it having treble support.
Hence, if I may ask to those of you who already have the phone, is the device treble enabled? I currently have my OnePlus 5 running Android Pie because of treble, and I would like to have my secondary phone be as flexible as well! I am highly aware that the bootloader unlock requires a paid service, but a few dollars for having barebones AOSP roms would be something I look forward to.
Thank you in advance to those who'll answer!

Yeah! So that it may be possible to flash GSI roms
Hi,
As Huawei doesn't allow to unlock the bootloader, you won't be able to install any GSI to it...
Some people report to have managed to unlock it with a paid option and to install TWRP.
But I am almost certain that even if they did and assuming a GSI will install and boot, you'll end up with a crippled device with features missing or not working...
I'd like to see that also but I think for now I'll stick to stock to no get stuck ,?

Well, maybe we could find workarounds for it... But I do understand your point with having incompatible roms.. I have bricked a device before because of it. But I hope someone knowledgable could look into this, especially those who work on the Honor 10 and Honor View 10 . Anyways, I guess I'll just try by myself, got my unit just today :fingers-crossed:
Is Note 10 a A only device?

If it was popular then there would be threads and TWRP and ROMs but the fact that there's not tells you, it's not....
I think you are righ
I bought s10+ over it
I gave up on it. And the developer that did a Magisk flashable mod I think has also moved on. I tested for him but the device was not very popular. Thinking about trying to sell it or just gifting it to someone. Haven't even turned it on for weeks.
My SM-N935F NoteFE Floyd V5
DEX or HDMI support, is the most important feature for a DEVELOPER TO CREATE FOR NOTE 10LITE!Hardware wise is capable, but SOFTWARE is not permitting this feature. I hope that a DEVELOPER will be so kind to HELP on that!!!
And propably a valid twrp version to flash it!
maybe someone, i.e. @butchieboy ?, smart is capable of porting twrp to the Note 10 lite with this instruction which seems to be easy for linux users or with those skills. See here: https://appuals.com/how-to-port-twrp-for-android-without-source/
On my side I am a bit familiar with Android Image Kitchen for windows (so far only used for themeing twrp for other devices to my needs, which worked excellent) but the above guide says it should be done with AIK for Linux, so I am afraid to mix (brick) things up....

If it was as simple as stated in those instructions I would have had this fixed ages ago, but it is not. It relies on signatures that need to be generated to match the devices vbmeta.img file otherwise it will not boot. I tried this, but got nowhere with the signatures and little support from other devs to help me with creating the signatures. @butchieboy has a Magisk flashable I created to get some mods in the device but other things like screen mirroring or HDMI being fixed need to be done directly on the image of the device. I will release an R version of the latest firmware N770FXXS7DUB1_N770FOJM7DUB1_XSG, which is the one I have and release it soon.
Whats up Javix. I was testing Twrp for another developer a week ago. We got knowhere. I give up on the 10 lite as At&t has blocked it and i can no longer use it on my Network. So I basically have a Mint condition phone that is useless to me. Damn At&t are starting to do this with any F version device when you try to use it on their network it automatically suspends your number as an unauthorized device. I bought a S20FE unlocked bootloader Twrp and rooted. Good luck with 10 lite, mine is back in the box..lol

Hi there butchieboy!
If your N10Lite is of no use to you, is there a chance I can help with TWRP and ROMs?
I can help with TWRP (maybe official too) and porting ROMs. You can check my credentials as I have ported many roms to the Galaxy M30.
Let me know if you are interested. Message me on telegram @cha0scl0wn.

[URGENT ANSWER NEEDED] Are the methods mentioned here legit or are they scams/malware/virus?

I know that using unofficial ROMs and firmware is always risky, but I'm wondering if this is legit. I want to update my Vivo Y51A (unsupported) to at least Android 8 (Oreo), and this website claims to have all the supplies needed for that, but would they actually work?
How to flash Vivo Y51A. Update to Android 9Pie, 10 Q, 11 | Guideroot
Download firmware for Vivo Y51A. Updating smartphone firmware to Android 10 Q

Edit: So it seems that the rooting apps suggested could be dubious. What alternatives (noob-friendly and free) can I use instead, if the rest of this is legit?
Thank you in advance!
Note: I am a noob, please make your answer noob-friendly

If there was even the slightest doubt I wouldn't touch it... actions have consequences.

Hopefully someone here knows about this variant or has a better plan for you.
My POV: rooting a phone or replacing the stock rom with a custom rom has become a pointless popular sport. At the end of the day, no better device comes out than the one you bought.
To be on the safe side only use rooting tools / custom recoveries / custom ROMs authored by non-chinese people and introduced and provided here on XDA.

Mediatek TAB 910 tablet

Hello everybody,
My 10 year old daughter got a tablet bought on AliExpress as a gift.
When I turn it on, the Mediatek screen appears in boot.
The model is a TAB910 with the Chipset: MT6797.
I put you the report created by DROID INFO in PDF format.
My question: is there a custom rom for this tablet?
Because it is noted android 9 but in reality it is android 4.4 with SDK 19.
I don't know if it is rooted.
Thank you for your reply.
Regards
Christophe
Return the tablet to AliExpress and request refund of purchase price because you have been cheated.

Question TWRP files for g stylus 5g 2022 (XT2215-4)

I have recently acquired a carrier unlocked Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 (XT2215-4) and have successfully unlocked the boot loader.
I have been looking for TWRP recovery files/images for my device but have been unsuccessful up to this point. I am considering compiling some from source, if need be, at which point I will likely compile lineage from some source for it as well.
Does anyone know if the 2021 (Denver/Osaka) models can or should be used as a template for attempting this? Additionally is anyone looking into porting to this device? I am a bit new to this and wouldn't mind a bit of assistance.
Thanks!
Just got the device the other day but haven't bootloader unlocked it. I'm assuming due to the different processor alone it's likely we'll need our own device tree. I haven't really done that stuff before but maybe if we get a Telegram group going we could get some Moto vets to help out maybe?
I have been able to extract the dtb.* files from the firmware's dtbo.img however I have not attempted to compile it into the dts.img via the dtc utiliity like many of the tutorials on the subject say you need to do. This is because none of the ones I found say anything about having to deal with multiple dtb files like the ones I was presented with when I extracted the dtbo.img from the device firmware. I didnt want to try it and have it be totally wrong.
On the motorola github I have posted an issue requesting the release of the kernel, device tree, and any other pertinent files, pertaining to the stock firmware for the XT2215-4. Hopefully they come back in an reasonable time so that I can move forward with compiling Lineage OS for it.
Rooting:
Once you get the bootloader unlocked, you can root it by flashing the boot.img that has been patched with Magisk using fastboot. Perhaps Ill post a step by step guide for this for the XT2215-4 in the next day or so.

XT2215-4 is not mediatek it's Qualcomm snapdragon SDM695 w same sm6375 chipset as the xiaomi note 11 Pro, I would rather have Orange box recovery cuz I'm spooled to the OTA update block, I was about to bust out studio and Android kitchen myself and see if I could Port it from the xiaomi note 11 Pro but I know the kernel going to have different drivers as the 11 pro has a lot better camera like 100 megapixel versus 50 megapixel a few other small details different LTE bands.. maybe enough to just swap the kernels out and Android kitchen to get a buggy twrp up in there interim as we're I'm waiting the kernel ource code and devised tree Moto has only posted like three of their 12 devices I was about to supposed to request when I saw his already posted I'll try to back him up maybe if we bug the crap out of them the xiaomi people had to do that.. they have ricedroid, PE, lineage evolution x, Sapphire, and arrow all kinds of ROMs for the same chipset Xiaomi note 11 pro / Poco note 4 (apparently the Paco is the same device just different country branded and somehow it's the only one that's allowed to play like pubg battlegrounds and stuff cuz they're trying to push the pacos or whatever) i ran across it all in the telegram and I still don't think they have gotten their source code yet.
