Everyone who has this device should agree that it is flying, the S800 International version at least has had absolutely no stutter so far for me, however since using Gravitybox, the Xposed Module, there have been occasional slowdowns and even freezes where I cannot even scroll down a list. I love all CM-like functionality of Gravitybox but why does it slow this monster device down so much. Have it on my ASUS TF700 which is not that fast at all (Tegra 3) and it doesn't have a huge impact there?
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? Can it be narrowed down to specific tweaks? I tried with transparency enabled and disabled, no noticeble difference, but turning the whole module off makes a very noticeble difference. Any ideas? Don't know if this is relevant but I have a N9005, rooted, has TWRP recovery installed and running Omega 3.1, I also installed a debloating zip that got rid of loads of apps I won't use anyway.
I have problems with xblast module, especifically with the status bar, it freezes the screen for about a minute, then "ui has stopped" messages, your problem is with gravity, but there must be some common factor with xblast, I guess

I also tried Wanam's Xposed module, same thing happens. Wanam's doesn't officially support the Note 3, although I've found many features to be working perfectly. This module also has the same slowing effect as Gravity Box. I don't actually know alot about how these modules work but here's what I think may be happening: The Xposed module is making it's various changes to the System UI, then something within the Samsung firmware changes it back, and then the Xposed module again changes it, and so on... So it's like the module is fighting with Samsung firmware for control, resulting in the slowdown. This is obviously pure speculation since I don't actually know much at all about this, if someone else does know, please correct me. Right now the only features I really want are: Hold Volume up/down for skip music track and XuiMod's module, I can do without theming or other fancy things such as pie controls.
I have xposed + wanam and I don't see a big slow down. I'm using an at&t rooted SM-900A with MI9 version. Seems that the problem is only happening on newer Samsung Roms.
Thanks I didn't update the software. I also didn't trip Knox because of this.
Xposed and wanam too on my N9005. Rooted on Mj7 I don't experience any perceiveable performance loss despite the phone being a little slow waking up or going to sleep. But I cannot tell if this was different without all this. I've added xposed 3 days after buying, so I don't recall if this was different completely stock.
It does say in the write up, that it's not play nice with Touch Wiz, as it's mainly for vanilla versions of android, perhaps you're having problems due to that very reason.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
I'm using both wanam and gravity box to achieve what I want, but I expect zero lag or other problems! but: I'm using nova launcher instead of touch wiz, so it seems that that could be your trouble!
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i'm not using wanam or gravity box. i use nova launcher as well. but what i have noticed is that once i install the xposed framework, it takes so freaking long to complete the bootup process. it seems like 5 to 7 minutes from power on until the last toast notification message from supersu appears. and if i uninstall xposed framework, the bootup process is extremely fast. once the bootup is complete with xposed, everything runs at normal speed though.
i haven't been able to find any mention of such problems anywhere. it is some consolation to see that it's not my imagination that xposed is causing some issues for others as well.
I'm using nova launcher with wanam and gravitybox and I have absolutely no lag besides a slight hickup when turning my screen on. I also have 80 extra apps and games. Maybe you folks have a defective note
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I open this for get an analysis for a evidences slow down performance on every note with stock Rom then I have.
test on note2, note3 and note4 get me rallenty result on boot (more time that normal to view desktop), on connection usb with pc (long time to recognize device, not depend on which OS), system app's booting 3-4 slow time that normal (rotate control, gear manager ecc). Ram saturation not change but showy lags on interface and switch to App's.
this is indipendent than Module (lastest test is without module's).
when I remove a framework all return normally.
I don't understand Why??
From the original gravitybox repo info:
Compatibility
- .....
- DOES NOT support devices running ROMs vastly modified by device manufacturers (HTC Sense, Samsung Touchwiz, MIUI, LeWa, Xperia, ...)
- SHOULD NOT be used with custom ROMs like CM, AOSPA, RootBox, SlimBean and others - it makes no sense since the most of the features are already
in the ROM (may cause conflicts and unexpected behaviour)
When you only need the resign of the buttons (like myself.. that was the only reason i used it) you find in the xposed download: xposed additions for remaping
Same problem.
Well, I had rooted and installed Xposed+Gravity on my friend's device and he too has reported lags on his device. My guess is, somehow the default framework and systemui aren't allowing the module to modify them, probably, that's why the problem. Also, I tried making GB and Xposed a system application and then wiping data+cache, but still, there was no noticeable change.
Interestingly, when I installed these modules separately, like advanced power menu, double tap to sleep, lollipop navigation bar etc, there was hardly any lag.
So, I think, taking GB out is the answer, but again, how many modules can we install for each function?
These are the modules I am using as a substitute:
APM+: http://repo.xposed.info/module/hk.kennethso168.xposed.apmplus
Flat Style Colored Bars: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.bocharov.xposed.fscb
DoubleTapToSleep: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.zst.xposed.doubletaptosleep
Lollipop Navigation Bar: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.ash.androidlnavigationbar
Note: I disabled the stock launcher and using Apex Pro. Its small and eats lesser memory.
I hope it helps a bit.
I've been running stock 4.1.2 (rooted) for a while now, and after really slow performance, steadily worsening battery life, and general annoyances like random reboots, Blue Screens, and other annoyances like duplicated incoming SMSs, I figure it's time to take the plunge and install a custom ROM and maybe even a fresh kernel.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to devote to experimenting with all the different ROMs out there for this phone, and was wondering if I were to list out what I usually use the phone for and what apps I run most of the time if it would be possible for people to recommend which one would be a good fit to try as my first.
(I know this'll mean missing out on all the fun of having so many choices, and when I have more time later, I'll see what I can do about exploring the other options.)
I make heavy use of SMS, although often times my messages are laggy to send and receive (I don't know if this is a problem with my phone or T-Mobile). Incoming messages sometimes get repeated multiple times for no apparent reason. My current SMS default is EvolveSMS, but I had similar issues with GOSMS.
I also play Ingress, so any bugginess in the GPS would be a deal breaker.
Voice calling is sometimes problematic as well. When I make outgoing calls, it sometimes take 30 seconds for the phone app to load., With incoming calls, I may get the ringtone, but no screen to accept or reject the call.
I run the xposed framework for a handful of modules (All Notifications Expanded, and Buttered Toast)
I'm using Nova Launcher for my homescreen, because of the ability to set a grid size, use custom icons, overlap icons on top of widgets, and lock the homescreen configuration from accidental changes. A ROM that would do the same things natively without having to run a homescreen replacer would be welcome.
I'm also interested in running on my external SD, Is that something I should set up prior to flashing the new ROM, or can that only be done after the ROM is installed?
Team Apex have done some great work. By now they know the hardware very well, having done the initial dev work back on CM9, all the way up to the current CM11 and now Omnirom systems. Their current efforts are focused on the Omnirom-based Omnitoad project. It's at a point where it works very well. I suggest starting there.
The stock roms and the earlier CM roms all have a bug where the compass reads totally wrong after a reboot until you recalibrate it. This was finally fixed in the CM11-based ROMs. That should help Ingress.

to be fully honest though...i do highly recommend flashing my B14CKB1RD kernel on whatever 4.4 kit kat rom you use if you want best stability and battery life...its been proven that at the end of the day your rom will have alot of batterly life remaining compared to stock....whats good about my kernel is that you control how you want the phone to work...where as with TeamApexQ stock kernels you are locked to that one state and also has an mpdec touchboost enabled that boosts your cpu core to 1134mhz minimum speed when you touch the screen thus rapidly draining your battery... I'm in no way saying the work they have done isnt great....theyve done a hell of a job bringing the device to the stability its at today... it just brings that much more stability outta any rom you use

mpdec and touchboost are two separate concepts. Touchboost boosts the second core to 1134 Mhz when you are using the display in order to make the phone more responsive. Mpdec turns off the second core when not in use and conserves a huge amount of battery. On OmniToad, with the standard kernel on it, I usually get 60 hours + per charge of medium use. I've been using OmniToad continuously, and since the beginning of it, I have not personally had any reboot that was not initiated by myself.
Um dude you do know your touchboost is mpdecision based right?....look at the defconfig...and to be honest my kernel works just as smooth if not smoother than the stock kernel of omni without it...using omni on stock kernel I wald have 40% battery come 11pm my time when unplugged at 7am...on my kernel I'll have anywhere between 65% and 70% with same usage and hours
Sent from my L1QU1D R3L4Y using xda-developers app
One other thing about touchboost, which will hopefully bring us all out of ignorance of it as I am tired of the constant FUD about it. It is the 'touch responsiveness' portion of Google's "Project Butter" initiative. It is a standard Android/AOSP feature enjoyed by Nexus owners since Android 4.1.x.
One more thing. It is a UI deficiency that the performance settings apps show 1134Mhz as min cpu when using touchboost. In kernel mpdec will run the cpus at 384mhz unless something needs more, or the cores will sleep. Now you know the facts. Let's stop spreading misinformation. Thanks.
Not spreading misinformation...my builds and the community have even spoken of the better battery my kernel and ROMs have with it disabled and removed....even flashing my kernel over omni the phone instantly stopped overheating and lost maybe a percent in 2 hours with moderate use.... I just love how as soon as I came to the relay you guys judged me as a noob and all the name calling and what not....it's your teams loss...all my gain...good luck
Sent from my L1QU1D R3L4Y using xda-developers app
In my opinion, I try all the roms available for relay right now, the better performance I have was with liquid ROM and blackbird kernel. Omni is smooth but the battery its not the best for my phone with my personal use, and with GPS and plugged to the car charger i got overheating. Carbon got better battery than omni and better customization options but not smoother. Liquid have all you need in a ROM, personalization, full control and with the kernel blackbird and Wheatley and sio configuration have the better performance and battery at all ROM I try
Sent from my SGH-T699 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So, I tried OmniToad for a bit. Wasn't really impressed with the compass fix mentioned above, because even after flashing it was still quite ill-behaved in Ingress.
I also couldn't get the External 2 Internal SD Card swap to work -- the storage tab kept reporting my internal as 5 gig and the external as 64gig. This was after trying two different microSDs.
So, because of those two issues, and being not too far along in re installing everything, I decided to flash again, with the Blackbird Kernel and Liquid Smooth.
Now, when I try to boot. it hangs on the screen with the ApexQ green penguin. If I try for recovery mode I'll get the blue text that says booting into recovery, and then it goes to the penguin again. Trying to boot to download mode also just gives me the penguin.
Troubleshooting suggestions? Because right now, I'm without any clue as to what to do next, and without a phone for that matter.
[Edit: Just got into recovery, so going to try flashing back to OmniToad]
[Edit 2, Electric Boogaloo: Back on the Toad for now, Seems to be working. Thoughts on how to get things running on my external SD? Is it maybe an issue with KitKat based roms?]
I'll guide you through it...my roms shouldn't show anything teamapexq related ...what recovery were you using...and have you tried heimdall or ODIN

Recovery is TeamWin, and I was finally able to get back into it. Put OmniToad back on it for the time being. If you wanted to put up a step by step for going from Omni to Liquid, I can give it a try, because at this point, I'm pretty sure it was a "ID Ten T "error.

Did u just say 60+ hours of use??
How?? What do u mean by medium use?? Are you using the stock battery??
That's only possible with screen off with no use in that 60 hours and the phone going into deepsleep...either that or he's using an extended battery....with very minimal use....also proof or it didn't happen

I ended up partitioning my external SD card so I could use Mounts2SD. Seems to be working so far.
Now I just have to get all my stuff put back on this thing and figure out how the extra features of LiquidSmooth are going to fit into my workflows.
One thing that seems to be a minor annoyance, probably because I just haven't found the toggle for it yet: on stock, I used to be able to wake the phone from the home button and the screen would pop on instantly. Under both custom ROMs I've tried, it seems a lot harder to wake the phone. The power button seems to be the only thing that works, and I have to stab at it repeatedly. I almost suspect that I'm waking it up and puttting it back to sleep before the screen comes on, but I can't seem to find anything that consistently works. Like I said, it's probably something I just need to toggle under settings.
The home button's actual switch is in the center of the button, while the design allows the button to tip sideways. So if you press it on a corner instead of the middle, the phone sometimes won't recognize it.

I may have spoken too soon. Getting all sorts of apps stopping on me now. Launcher3, Hangouts, Ingress, Settings...
Also, Launcher3 seems to 'forget' homescreen layouts every so often... some times I'll be going back to blank homescreens, and then after poking around in other apps, the homescreen will be back to the original configuration.
Ingress also acts like it can't see Location Services most of the time.
Also, sometimes when I reboot, it takes up to 20 minutes before the phone's back up and running.
While I can't discount that it was any of the number of apps I've put back on the thing, I'm pretty sure that Mounts2SD is the smoking gun here. these problems didn't start until after I had started using it. The symptoms seem about right.
I'm wondering if there's a conflict between Mounts2SD and the governor/scheduler I'm running (Wheatley/SIO).
I'd rather not have to troubleshoot this, but one of my main goals with starting fresh on this was to be able to store and run apps on my External SD, preferably without having to fuss with it on a per-folder basis. So if anyone has had any success in that department, I'd love to hear some tips that point me in the right direction.
[Edit: Turns out Mounts2SD overrides the governor/scheduler choices anyway. I think, that when I get off work I'm going to start fresh again over my next few days off, and try using Link2SD instead.]

This post from another user in the Mounts2SD thread. They might be mistaken, but either way, my problems started cropping up after I installed that app, and if there's a chance that poster is right about it setting those things, that's just another reason for me to uninstall it.
right now Carbon wins
I've tried them all, Liquid smooth is awesome but the latest built gave me some blackscreen issues until the next built go with carbon if you want some nice features or slim for a nice overall rom.
Don't forget to install the Blackbird kernel for a even better result.
Peace!
So basically, only when I'm in the Chrome app (not the beta, just stock chrome), when I hit the home button and come to my home screen, it's blank for a second or two, and then my apps / folders pop up. This shouldn't happen and hasn't happened to me until recently. It's almost as if i'm using too much RAM, but i know for sure I'm not as I've tested it with chrome being the only app even running. I don't think chrome is leaking 2 gb of ram...
Some info- this is on my nexus 5, rooted but stock rom with xposed. No xposed modules related to chrome, chrome is not greenified or anything, so i'm not sure where the problem is. I've reset all the default on ://chrome/flags so i'm not allowing it to use too much RAM. Can anyone think of why this is happening? I can provide more info if needed, just ask.

first things first. xposed comes with a countless amount of undocumented issues. before doing anything else to try and fix your issue, get rid of xposed, completely. if that doesnt fix your issue, we will try other things. if you dont try removing xposed. then theres no point to try anything else.

Simms is right. What I would recommend personally is having MultiROM installed and having one ROM on ART without exposed and another ROM with every XPosed module known to man and several species of Monkey. ?
Over time your device may seem fine but XPosed starts slowly corrupting the integrity of the ROM have no idea how. You'll get random force closes, weird audio bugs, force reboots, screen of deaths, and random lag spikes from my experience. You'll run every cleaner in the book, you'll clear cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions but it won't help. You've been struck by a smooth criminal, ahem. XPosed.
Hi everyone,
My OnePlus 7 was perfectly fine even after updating to latest stable 10 other than the play store bug, I now have even more problems
1. Notifications - I don't get push notifications. Gmail and WhatsApp remain stuck unless I open them. I've disabled battery optimization for them both and have also disabled the deep sleep optimization to no avail. I keep missing calls and messages because I didn't open the app.
2. Poor battery - my battery keeps draining a lot. Just listening to Spotify at work I went through 40% battery in a few hours. I used to get 7-8 hours SoT now it's around 4 hours. I tried looking into apps to get some stats but all have bad latest reviews. I even went through my apps to see if there was something rogue or one that I installed and removed all unwanted apps but still the same.
3. Downloads (including Play store) - playstore won't download files or will stay stuck at 99/100%. The only way to get it to work is to either disable the Google app and reboot or turn off Bluetooth and then reboot. I rely on Bluetooth for my wristband and my earphones so that sucks. Google app is also useful and it doesn't make sense to disable it to get downloads. Even for normal downloads e.g. in gmail, attachments won't download and are at 0% constantly.
Any help around this would be appreciated. I just dropped from 53-51% while writing this thread (took 3-4 minutes).
Anyone else with similar problems or solutions? Thanks.

Did you wipe the cache?
My unit is OP7 (not Pro), had similar problems, dreadful awful atrocious battery life.
Basically the latest Pie was great, why did I ever upgrade?
My tip for you: if you downgrade to Pie (as I did), do NOT do it via TWRP backup. This is what I did and ended up with a hard brick that took me all day to solve. There are threads about ways to downgrade, and TWRP is not the way to do it.
After all this mess, though, can't tell you how glad I am to be rid of Android 10 and back on Pie.
I don't have these issues being on OOS 10.0.1. Never did. Must be doing something wrong. Also, I've downgraded to Pie many times using TWRP. If you do it correctly, meaning use the proper downgrade zip provided by OnePlus, then you shouldn't have any issues downgrading to Pie.

Great to hear. How do you do it correctly using TWRP?
Here's how to do it wrong (what I did): I just did a restore with TWRP, without looking at any downgrade zips. For anyone interested, what is that process please?
I've cleaned install and did a factory reset and the problems in Android 10 still exists. It's been more than a month and OnePlus hasn't even fixed it. It's great that OnePlus provides updates to the older devices(3/3T) but if it delays and slows down the update of the latest ones, then it's really bad. I shifted from an iPhone and that's the only thing I miss, the software updates and quick fixes with the updates.

That's why I'm concerned about doing a clean install. I don't want to go through the trouble and have the same issues again.
Has anyone found a solution at all? I've tried installing xxx no limits via Magisk and I might have noticed a 5% improvement in battery life but overall experience is still terrible.

That's why I'm concerned about doing a clean install. I don't want to go through the trouble and have the same issues again.

I'm using the latest xXx module and it's running great. I've heard WhatsApp drains huge battery on Android 10. Also I went back to Pie with a clean install, both A and B
Download unofficial TWRP for PIE by mauronofrio
- Reboot to TWRP
- Install Recovery Ramdisk for TWRP Pie
- Reboot recovery
- Flash Pie update
- Flash unofficial TWRP zip
- reboot to recovery
- Flash Pie update again
- Flash unofficial TWRP zip again
- reboot to recovery again
- Flash magisk if you like, but you can skip since your just going to update to Android 10
- Reboot to system
- Finish initial setup for Android Pie
- Go to TWRP again
- Install Recovery Ramdisk for TWRP Q A10
- Reboot recovery
- Flash Android 10 update
- Flash unofficial TWRP zip
- reboot to recovery
- Flash Android 10 update again
- Flash unofficial TWRP zip again
- reboot to recovery again
- Flash Magisk
- Reboot to system
You should have a very stable OOS 10 update.

Can't tell you how happy I am to be back on Pie.
For me, Android 9 was a major upgrade from Android 10.
Battery drain at 0.3% per hour on the idle BBS test… Life is good.
Also realized that Greenify was causing some problems with fingerprint, uninstalled with no negative effect on battery.
im on 10.0.1 xxx rom on Smurf kernel with no issues turn deep sleep off, OnePlus ram boost also adaptive battery and it will stop shutting down playstore and developer setting keep mobile data active. i think it was ram boost doing it and my battery is way better on Android 10 xda devs are getting better with system on 10 smurf kernel is the best thats my battery running 40 min only 5% gone and using browser the whole time

Are you sure that's a good?
Doesn't seem that spectacular to me. Of course it depends on what you're doing in the browser.
It would be interesting to have a less subjective test (a benchmark).
the benchmark on Smurf thread shows 500,000 its oc 850mhz like it was on 9 Android 11 is about to be out i hated 10 at first takes a second to get used to it
Hi , iam on Android 10 xXx with stock kernel, but I don't have any of your Problems. My Phone runs approximately 2,5 days without charging and normal using.
You can update your Phone to Android 10 and then make factory reset and try with stock settings. If you have again Problems, the Problem is maybe somewhere else ?
Just saw news blurb that Beta 5 ( with fixes ! ! ! ) is out next week.
You guys know how to fix the color scheme on my notification they appear inverted or will either be black with black text

Edit: fixed by toggling on and off force dark mode in Dev settings
It seems after about 48 hours of up time. The phone begins to lag extremely bad. Mostly when I first start typing it'll take 3 seconds or so for it to finally catch up to my typing. This happens Everytime I use the keyboard after those 48 hours or so. Apps seem to open very slowly as well after this time. A reboot seems to fix it and it runs fine after that until then. I've tried about 3 different kernels and face the problems with everyone. Not seeing any odd battery drain either. Just curious as to what would be causing this. Only module I have installed is google framework (for the dialer)

Hmm really. I'll have to give that a shot ?
EDIT
I don't see Gboard even under the battery optimization. Doesn't give me an option to remove it from optimization. Pretty much all apps run slower around the 48 hour mark it's not just Gboard. But that's weird it's most annoying.

Could be an app leaking memory (not properly returning it when it's no longer needed). Have you added any new apps recently? Try freezing them.
Or perhaps a bad app update?

I'll have to check apps here and there cause I have a pretty long app list but nothing that would run in the background much. But nothing new that I'm aware of. Not seeing my memory usage maxed out or anything. I'll have to take another look after my phone's been on for 48 hours.

Show system apps from menu
Also if you have Alot of apps installed you can try to turn off sync
This should take Alot of strain away from apps trying to update/check for updates
Stuff like snapchat, Facebook, and other apps with frequent updates.
If you have magisk/EdXposed installed it could be these as well since they are trying to force the system to change code.
It kinda depends on what you have done to your device, if it's stock then sync or doze could be the problem

Sync isn't on for most apps I have. Everything is stock other than having magisk installed. Like I said oddly battery life and phone speed are great until 48h mark or so. I'll just have to work on narrowing it down from apps and stuff. Gboard isn't under any optimization settings. I can't remove it even with system apps enabled. Because if it's just cause the app is being dozed I would like to remove it.

Sync is either on or off. I don't believe you can select certain apps, atleast I'm not aware of this as I just turn it off unless I need updates
Is the battery dead or is it being charged over the 48h.
If the apps being forced to sleep it has the tendency to lag and be unstable (stuff I noticed with my s5 before this phone)
Have you tried another keyboard? (I use SwiftKey and have had no lagging issues unless I messed with stand by apps via developer options)

Haven't tried another keyboard like I said it's not just the keyboard the apps also seem slow but the keyboard is also slow. The battery is fully charged at the time of the slowness. Sync I see for multiple apps overall.

This is what I guess.
Some rouge app.
I'm running 10.3.0 and my phone is stable. No slowdowns and no reboots.
It will stay up for weeks if I let it.
Normally I reboot after a few days, just because.

Does clash of clans, cod mobile, or old school runescape run on your device? Or do you get blackscreen?
Seems it only happened on the new 10.3.0 / 10.0.3
It use to run fine on older 10.0.0
I think it could be the "backup" since it broke these apks into parts.
Its kinda annoying because I haven't been able to use these in over a month.
And OnePlus is in hiding due to the cornavirus.
It is the gboard sometimes and it usually starts to happen wit whatsapp and Instagram
It's the gboard it's hide arrow is sometimes visible even if you're not using now I don't know if this happens on your phone but using whatsapp or Instagram(nightly) whenever you go to Home screen from typing a message there's a small arrow that will appear at left bottom that collapses the keyboard. also there's a delay in status bar pull down sometimes whenever the problem latter mentioned starts to occur.
