Not every device gets its own forum, it depends on how popular the device is, how large its communiry of users is and how much "original" custom development is available for. If your device is a cheap, low end device or if it does not have a lot of users here or if there are no original custom developments or if there are only a small number of custom developments, the device will not get its own forum.
Wait a while, if more people use the device and if there are a lot of custom developments made available for it, then it "might" get its own forum.
XDA does not create new forums for every device on the market just because the device exists. It takes time and work add a new section to XDA, they can't afford to waste time or server space to create a forum for every device that is released. It would be a waste of server space to create a forum for devices that are not popular, does not have a large community of users or has very little or no original custom development. Even if a lot of development is made available, it still wont get a forom unless it is "original" development, meaning, if it is not something created by someone else for another device then modified to work on your device, that is not "original development", that is only "development".
In the future, don't buy a device and THEN come here to XDA expecting custom development without checking XDA before you buy the device. A better idea is to check XDA before you buy a device to see what devices it supports and what is available for those devices then decide which device you are going to buy based on what is already available at XDA. Otherwise, you take a chance buying a device that may or may not ever be supported by XDA.

@tze_vitamin
I assume you're referring to the layout of the forum of your new device:
Xiaomi 11T Pro
The Xiaomi 11T Pro is a 6.67" phone with a 1080x2400 resolution display. The Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 5G chipset is paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The main camera is 108+8+5MP and the selfie camera is 16MP. The battery has a 5000mAh capacity.

Slightly more than a year ago, XDA transition from vBulletin to Xenforo, and for several reasons but mainly to speed up XDA our site owners decided that new device fora won't have section/sub-fora any longer but use prefixes in the threads to indicate the respective category and to allow filtering for easy searches.
So, the fora of your previous devices were created prior to the transition to Xenforo, and the Xiaomi 11T Pro one after the transition.
A XDA search might have brought you to this post by @sd_shadow; please ahve a look into it for further explanations and how-to-use suggestions:

Thanks very much indeed for your post and especially the first link. I've removed that thread. For whatever reason it was indeed at the wrong location.
Not as an excuse but as a probable explanation: Please count the number of moderators here who are all dedicated XDA users who do this "job" voluntarily and for free besides their real life, real family and friends, real business and occupation. And on a website with more than 3.5 million threads and 75M+ posts we highly depend on hints from our users like e.g. your post.
And regarding, the second linked forum, I've to admit I didn't find the confusing sticky. Can you help me out please? PM is also fine in order not to clutter this thread. Thanks for your cooperation.

Oswald Boelcke

I will send PM when I find more. just to clarify, the second link is the recent one and therefore the valid one. So all questions (regardless if development/device specific or not) belong to the general Q&A threads?
- General Questions and Answers
where each answer is expected as solution (no comments) and can be upvoted, or
- Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
where each reply is a comment and we like to chat about our issues/ideas as usual (no voting feature)
... right??

I agree it's hard to distinguish between the two fora. First, as you correctly said the first one has a voting feature that was set up by the site owners briefly after the transition to Xenforo.
Personally, I distinguish between them that the latter one is for items related to Android while the first one is open for everything related to XDA's subject and objectives. There's a lot of grey in it, and I try to view it very flexible.

**NEW FORUM SECTION COMING TO XDA-DEVELOPERS!! (Please read this important update!!)

ATTENTION ALL XDA MEMBERS:
ATTENTION ALL XDA MEMBERS:
*******PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ABOUT THIS NEW AND IMPORTANT UPDATE COMING TO THE XDA-DEVELOPERS FORUM SELECTION.*********
Hey guys, TweakMan here. I have some wonderful news for you. Coming soon to XDA-Developers, will be new forum section to choose from, dedicated for the sole purpose of helping you!
As most of you have seen. the very first thread in the Development & Hacking Section is the "General Questions & Answer" Thread. It was opened a few months ago, with the intention of helping you get your questions answered. But as you may have noticed, this thread has grown to an enourmous size!
For this reason, an entire new section will be opened and dedicated to this purpose! It will be the same concept as the current "Question & Answer" Thread, but will be far more organized, therefore helping answer your questions faster!
The original concept still stands. No question and no comment, no matter the subject, device, or reason, will be turned away from this new section. Any question, about any device, theme, program, or situation, can be posted here, and WILL NOT BE OVERLOOKED!!!
Now, in the past, it has been hard, and sometimes impossible to post a question in any section other than "Development & Hacking" , and actually get an answer to that question, but with this update, this is all about to change. If you have ever used the currenct Q&A Thread, you know that you will get the help you need, and get it as fast as possible. With this new section, things will work the same and better!
Wether you are a junior member, who has owned a PPC for two days, or a Senior Member, who has owned 10 PPC's and wrote 30 applications, this thread is perfect for you! If you ever have a question, from what the name of a theme is or how to power on your device, all the way up to coding programs or cracking applications, you are welcome here.
So please watch for the opening of this new forum section. By agreeing to use it, you are not only helping your self, but you are helping your fellow XDA members, and that is what this site is for. Thanks for your time, and I hope to see you there soon!!
PS:
If you are currently an active perticipant in the "General Questions & Answers Thread" in the Development & Hacking Section, please read the update in the first post of the thread. And thank you for your past support, and the support I know you will show in the new sections. You guys have made this possible, and this is for you!!!

Yes, does not work at all and GSM and phone application. Version iokp_n8000_official_2013-12-01.zip and iokp_n8000_official_2013-12-28.zip. That's why I started this thread.

You know the forum rules, and guidelines, that XDA makes you see when signing up? and how they go above and beyond to try to get users to take a moment to read? They stress the importance of following rules, for this exact reason, to keep forums clean and organized, yet people still don't pay any attention.
This is not a request forum, this is why your post is confusing people. This is development forum where developers post their ROMs, and work. Users are expecting a download, yet they are presented with this.
Please take the time to read the rules! I am sorry if I come off as a jerk, I don't mean to.. But being a member of this site so long, it gets frustrating after awhile when users continuously do not pay attention to the rules, especially since XDA goes above and beyond to make users read and understand the rules.
15. Keep threads / posts on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
General Forums - For news and announcements relating to your device.
Q&A Help & Troubleshooting Forums - FOR ALL QUESTIONS / REQUEST THREADS AND POSTS. If there is no Q&A Help & Troubleshooting forum, use the General Forum of the relevant device
Accessories Forum - For posts related to accessories relevant to the device
Development Forums (ones with the word development in the title) - For Developers to post release threads e.g. ROMs and Kernels including modifications to kernels, bootloaders, ROMs, etc.
Themes and Apps Forums - For the posting of Themes and / or Apps as well as announcements & discussions*including*modifications made to Themes and Apps.
You can click here to read the full list of official rules, and guidelines.
Click here to go to the proper forum for your request.
You will probably have better luck with your request being answered there anyways.
@lifeofcoding good luck on your quest of being moderator. But why quote me?

***** Tablet Moderation Team*****

Hello!
First off, allow me to welcome both new and existing members to the Forums. These look to be exciting products, and I am really hoping to see a great community spring up here. As we like to do with a new forum, we like to introduce ourselves. Of course, as noted, the moderating team assigned to the forum include:
Team Leader/Senior Moderator @Moscow Desire
Forum Moderators @Siberian Tiger, @chrisd1a1, @Divine_Madcat @zacthespack
Personally, i am an avid tablet user, and am currently using both an HP Touchpad and Nexus 7 (2013), as well as a Samsung S4. Please make no mistake, while we all may not be owners of this specific device, it is our goal to be a strong part of the community, and i hope you will allow us this opportunity. I, like the other moderators, have an open door policy, and i welcome anyone to contact myself (or other staff members) to contact us if you have any concerns or questions about the forums (but please direct device specific questions to the Q&A forum).
With that said, i would like to take a moment to reiterate the overall guidelines of the forum, in the hope to prevent issues down the line...
1. Posting in the Development Forum. Creating new threads in the Dev Forum is restricted to development work; this may include Kernels, Root tools, ROMS, and other device developments. If you have a question about a ROM or the device, please post in the Q&A forum, so that the question may be answered correctly.
2. Arguments and Flaming. This really speaks for itself, but bears saying again. Be respectful, and be a community; work together and make this a place that is welcoming to everyone, new and old. If an argument starts, DO NOT participate in it. You have a "Report Post" button. Use it. Let the Mod's take care of it. You are not moderators, so please don't act like it. You don't make anything better by participating, and you may find yourself in trouble as well.
3. Please take a moment to search before posting; forums for popular devices can get hectic, and it is only made worse by having 5 different threads on the same topic. While mistakes happen, we need everyone's help to make sure that the boards are readable and usable for everyone. Odds are, if you have a problem, you are not the first person to have had the issue; you may very well find the solution already discussed. If a thread covering your topic is already there, please keep the discussion in that thread.
4. We are all here to help the users, and to mainly help continue the development of the devices. This is a Development site, not Facebook or other social networking sites. While some off topic banter is to be expected, please keep off topic conversations in the appropriate area; this is especially true for development threads. Too much OT makes threads hard to use for people with real issues/suggestions/questions

[Discussion] Please rename this forum to Nokia 5.1 Plus

The Nokia 5.1 plus is the global variant of Nokia X5 (China only). Since a dozen of countries are getting 5.1 plus, it has a much larger exposure. Nokia 6.1 Plus, a similar device, also has its forum instead of the X6. I would like the forum to be renamed.

Accidently, I found this thread and it's request two days ago and contacted our admins. Renaming the device forum from "Nokia X5" to simply "Nokia 5.1 Plus" would have caused problems and possibly confusion, too.
As you can see the forum hase been re-named to Nokia X5 (Nokia 5.1 Plus), and we hope that this now serves your requirements.
Please advise if you want the thread to be closed.

Usually, I don't reply to such a demanding statement. You can easily count the number of moderators here, and we're all volunteers who are doing this "job" for free beside a real life, real family and friends, real business, and all of that takes precedence above XDA, to which you certainly agree. XDA has not only 9.9 million members but also currently about 3.5 million threads and 75.5 million posts. I guess it's easy to recognise that moderators are unable to scan the majority of threads to look for posts, in which support or assistance of a moderator is requested. And please believe my that even a private message might not be useful as this specific moderator to whom the PM is addressed might be offline for days or weeks due to real life commitmens, and the PM will rest unactioned in the inbox for quite some time.
So, instead of posting a complain I suggest to use the established measures to alert the moderators' team and to request support: Just use either the "Report Functionality" or post in "[All XDA Members] Requests to Moderators and Admins".
Thanks very much for listening. I hope I was able to explain why nothing happened in this special matter for months.

You did very right, BTW renaming the forum has no value addition to the Forum, It Serves your phones i think enough.
Yes please close this thread. The request was done. Thank you.
PS: the value to rename the forum is for the forum to show up with search term "Nokia 5.1 Plus". For most people they may not know X5 and 5.1 Plus are related.

Cross-Development Vs Development?

I'm sorry if these questions are in the wrong place and/or covered in other places... feel free to scold and educate me as necessary.
1: I've been using XDA for a while, and never seen the "Cross Development" forums until recently (specifically the OnePlus devices). What exactly is the difference between Development and Cross-Development. Is the "cross" referring cross-device, cross-nationality, cross-team, or the more ubiquitous form, cross-platform?
(I'm assuming it means cross-device, i.e. the 8 (non pro) x 8 Pro devices, or in the case of the 7, the 7 x 7t, x 7pro x 7t Pro).
2: If my assumption about cross-device is correct, why is this separation of forums necessary? If the roms, bootloader, etc are cross-compatible... isn't this separation superfluous?
Again, sorry if this is a very ignorant question... asking because I want to educate myself.

Your assumption is indeed correct, it means cross-device i.e. the published code (ROM's, kernel, mods etc.) are compatible to or suitable for all devices under the umbrella of this x-device sub-forum.
And technically, such a x-device forum exists only once as a sub-forum to a specific device forum; all other respective device fora are just bearing a link to the x-device forum. The purpose of the x-device fora is that a thread with the code, which is suitable for multiple platforms, is published only once and not two, three or four times through duplicate threads. Without precedence, first XDA likes not to have duplicate threads but second - and probably more important - it allows the thread owner and developer to focus for support, assistance and update on a single thread and withdraws the requirement to monitor multiple threads. This (except for the update portion) also applies to our great XDA members who always live the spirit of XDA and try to help and support other members.
Please advise if my explanation wasn't sufficient or if I misunderstood your question. I'm very happy to elaborate more if required.

You explained it perfectly, thank you!
It also explains why I haven't really seen the X-Device sub before, as most of my devices have been A) Carrier specific, or B) Samsung's typical Samsung nonsense which is about as un-crossable as they come from my experience.

I'm glad to hear that I could answer your question.
My first Android device was a Motorola Milestone 2 but since then all devices in our family are Samsungs; even our first ones, S3 LTE GT-i9305, are still in use with great satisfaction. I never buy the lastest but only used ones in good conditions, and my current daily driver is a Galaxy S8+, SM-G955F. But I've to say I was so far pretty happy with the x-device development available in the S8+ forum. However, I'm currently no longer actively monitoring development there as it seems that all have moved to Android 10 and above. And for different reasons, I'm not willing to go beyond Pie - even if security patches aren't anylonger available; but this has also to do with my personal use of a smartphone or better with what I will never use it for.
Enjoy the day - but stay safe and stay healthy!

I totally understand. I hated android 5 and 6 with a fiery passion previously unbeknownst to mankind. I refused to upgrade and stuck with 4.4.2 pretty much until android 7/8. To be honest, I still prefer the mod scene and rom scene from good ol' 4.4 days. I really dislike Material (Most would say my opinion is "unpopular" at best, and downright stupid to most). Whether I like it or not, Android, Carriers, Manufacturers, and Developers are changing, and right along with them, XDA is as well. ( If you notice my -signature- the devices don't upgrade by model or release, they pretty much coincide with android upgrades that I liked, lol)

Absolutely correct, and we could continue this discussion or these talks for days - all flavoured with own experiences.
By the way: I think this is not device i.e. OP 8 Pro related. Would you mind if I move the thread to the general Q&A: https://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=456

Tbh id like to see device specific treble ROMs within device development sections or a sticky in discussion.
The treble sections although busy are littered with poor souls who have specific questions and many don't get answers.
There's a strength in treble which hasn't been explored or exploited as much as it should have been due to a lack of clarity between devices.
Even a known issues or knowledge base section would work.
It'll end up with everyone simply ignoring treble due to a lack of info on each GSI..

The decision if and when a device receives its own forum solely rests with the administrators (as far as I know in close coordination with the site owners). I'm also aware that they take multiple aspects into consideration but I'm lacking details. And same applies to dedicated sub-fora or sections.
I'm not familiar with treble ROM's or GSI's due to my devices but more my personal requirements especially regarding privacy. I guess I haven't changed the system on my daily used device for more than one year. Why to change a running horse?
Consider to provide your suggestions to the site's admins via the XDA Contacts & Help. It carries a specific form for (private) suggestions to make XDA better: https://www.xda-developers.com/contact/#suggestion. But if you want to go publicly I suggest this thread that you already know and where also we both communicated: [All XDA Members] Feedback/Recommendations for XDA

Aye I'll suggest it
In a nut shell what will happen is, someone will make a treble ROM. Then everyone from all corners of XDA and wider will turn up and say will this work on this device or this device..
9/10 they won't get an answer. That's what I'm driving at..
