So I'm planning on buying a Realme GT neo 2. I find it an overall well rounded phone. I also don't mind the software since it resembles Oxygen OS. I just have two questions concerning the software :
- I have heard that Realme's flagship devices (GT devices) will get 3 years of software updates, and 4 years of security patches. But, did they mean only devices like the GT, GT2, or also devices like the GT neo 2 and GT neo 3?
- I am told that it takes a few months or even up to a year after the device's release for the devs to make a custom ROM for Realme devices. But, it has been almost a year since the GT's release and it still doesn't have support. So is it safe to assume that the GT or any new Realme device won't get custom ROMs?

When do you think we can unlock bootloader on rui 3.0?

since yesterday you can.
Who is the device developer for this device? Honestly any pixel OS inspired ROM would be amazing to have.

Hi guys, I was wondering whether it is possible for our note 10 lite to get a rom cook? Or it will be likely to have nothing? Thank you very much
+1, with at first please TWRP !!!!!!!
1. Custom Rom
OneUI based - you just bought the new released phone - which custom rom base you have in mind to bring it to note 10 lite?
AOSP based - Lineage probably will make a rom for this device - but then, why did you buy an SPEN rich feature phone in the first place, if you want an AOSP? You gotta realize how much of these oneui features you'll loose on an AOSP rom.
At the note 10 lite price point why didn't you buy an oneplus (just an example) which is so rich friendly on custom roms? And with an SD845/855 which is better than Exy9810.
@w41ru5
For me, I want stock samsung custom ROM (not AOSP, because too many lost fonctionnalities !)
Advantages :
_ TWRP : backup/restore/.....repair/....customize
_ Debloated
_ already root
_ no need to factory reset
_ already in debug mode (cool if you break your screen or screen don't work anymore ! I experience this on note 4 of my wife and can backup config/data without screen )
For example, ALEXNDR make very cool stock samsung ROM ! please ALEXNDR.... and please team TWRP for custom recovery
bad question. few people own note 10 lite. it is not possible to take root in the near future. I own note 8 for two years and I never had to root or unlock the bootloader.own octopus box and rooting is not possible.

Note 10 lite has an Exynos SoC which can be rooted because unlockable bootloader.
Maybe you have a note 8 with SnapDragon SoC for American market which has locked bootloader.

Note 8 can be rooted and there are quite a few ROMs for it, like a great ROM from @corsicanu.
As for note 10 lite, as long as the bootloader can be unlocked, where's the issue for not being rooted?
@w41ru5 : Your wrong ! Note 10 lite bootloader can be unlocked and android rooted ! See My method : xda
But custom recovery missing !!!
Hey, Which Xiaomi phone Rs10000 ($150) is currently best for rooting and custom roms? I'm talking ease for unlocking the bootloader, rooting and availability of custom roms. Or perhaps it's not Xiaomi phones that are most hackable at the moment?
IMHO and experience, avoid the Redmi Note 9 S/Pro/etc (aka Curtana/Joyeuse/Excalibur/etc).
No LineageOS official support, and the unofficial ones come and go every few months and all have bugs.
The Redmi Note 7 aka lavender, OTOH, has pretty decent hardware and has official LineageOS. Rooting is working great with Magisk, haven't tried other ROMs but I think they would work pretty well too.
Will xiaomi 11t (non-pro) get a custom rom ?
Not unless Xiaomi releases kernel sources for the device
You mean this: https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/vili-r-oss
It's available since November.
Isn't it different since it has a different soc? he asked for the non-pro

It has 11t pro which uses Snapdragon 888 while non-pro uses dimensity 1200. Or maybe I couldn't find 11t (non-pro) cause I am unfamiliar with site ?

I will probably never be released as mediatek source code is closed source, so yeah blame mediatek.
That's Why I NEVER buy Mediatek phone.
As far as I know, if you want to modify the phone, buy a Snapdragon, never a Mediatek.

This is not Mediatek Fault, It is Xiaomi Fault. Oneplus Nord 2, Realme X7 Max and Poco F3 GT all have same Mediatek Processor but they have good development so it is Xiaomi fault because they have not released the source code yet
Xiaomi has started equipping models with soc mediatek for the Indian market.
To have the source code for the development you have to pay a license to Mediatek for each model and then pay teams of developers, which would have increased the price of these phones in India and would not have been profitable.
(he was also banned in 2014 from selling xiaomi to soc mediatek in India).
A general one regarding the source code releases: why would xiaomi release the source code or not release it at all?
What's the the benefit, concern and practicality for xiaomi here?

Even after the end of the official MIUI update, the AOSP rom developers continue their own development so you can continue to use the phone with sometimes a higher Android version than that of Xiaomi.
I had a 2012 Sony Xperia J (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) on which I installed custom roms including a MIUI port, the many options and the design of the rom compared to what was done at the time were so much better that I started buying Xiaomi.
Some of my Xiomi have been flashed over a hundred times and still work including the battery.
Here is at least one reason.
We should tag Xiaomi on twitter and ask them to release source code of 11T
gsi roms works also on mtk devices.
Hi Guys, I'm from Brazil. My Xiaomi 11t always corrupts the rom, and it always gives an error regarding the google app, restarting and etc... it's tiring to keep this device, I've tried installing other roms and when I start to configure, always the same error.
Are you facing this problem? when what version are you using and how did you configure it?

Using miui 13.0.2 stable facing no such issue. But battery life is only issue compared to life on miui 12.5.
hello
i received a small chinese tablet running android 8.1
model cy-801g
cpu mt6753
it seems not possible to update, do you have any suggestion for update to newer android version at least to be able to install netflix and disney + apps? only youtube and prime video are available
Updates ( patches to existing Android ) get rolled out by OEM if they deem it necessary.
What you probably have in mind is to upgrade existing Android. That requires to
1. flash a suitable Custom Recovery
2. flash a device matching Cutom ROM - by means of flashed Custom Recovery
thanks
I already did it in the past, but on samsung devices
here i’m in trouble even identifying the model and brand
I was thinking it was possible to install a custom rom based on chip model
SoC mt6753 is in many devices, such as
Lenovo Vibe K4 Note
Meizu M2 Note
Micromax Canvas 5 E481
ZTE Blade V7
Ulefone Be Touch 3
LG K10
Coolpad Note 3 Plus
Infocus M808
Infinix Note 3
HTC Desire 628
LG X cam
Elephone M2
Huawei Enjoy 5s
LYF Water 10
Infinix Note 4
Gionee S6
Coolpad Note 3
(source: techcenturion)
each device has it's own partition layout (scatter) different hardware and different kernel. so the answer is NO
Android 8.1 is perfectly fine for up-to-date device, nearly 10% of all devices running Oreo. where did you got the idea from netflix and disney+ won't work on Oreo?
when i try to install netflix and disney+ apps they won’t even show in play store, and when I try from a link it says the device is not supported
this is most likely caused by unlocked bootloader or other reason that makes google play certification fail. try Kdragon's Universal Safety Net Fix module on LSPosed.
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum.
I have a spare Samsung C9 Pro which is official upgraded at Android 8.0.0
I would like to know if there a way to upgrade this phone.
Updating Samsung Software Over-The-Air is an option available in Samsung Android Smartphones and Tablets. Doesn't this easy method work for your Samsung C9 Pro?

If there are stock updates available for your device, then, yes, you can upgrade.
If there are no official updates available for the devices, then, no, you cannot upgrade unless there are custom ROMs available for the device. If there are no custom ROMs available for the device, then, you will have to learn to build a custom ROM for yourself and that is only "IF" the stock source code for the device has been made available by the manufacturer/carrier.
