I installed the CM7 port and the GApps, but my Google apps don't show up. I've tried reflashing the ROM and the GApps package over and over and clearing all the caches to no avail. Help?
you have to flash GAPPS separately. refer original post of CM7 thread and you will find the link
That's what I did. I flashed the ROM then I flashed the GApps, but they're still not showing up.
Ok that's weird. Can you pinpoint the exact steps you performed from download to copying to erasing to booting up? Each and every step please.
Sure thing.
I downloaded the ROM and the GApps package from the ROM's thread and stored the files on my desktop. While the downloads were going, I booted my phone into recovery and mounted the USB storage. I then plugged the phone into my computer and copied the files over before ejecting the USB device and unplugging the phone. I then wiped the user data, the cache, and the Dalvik cache and flashed the ROM, then, straight after, the GApps. I wiped the user data again just to be safe then rebooted back into the OS.
After it didn't work the first time, I downloaded the GApps again and copied them to my phone again, this time within the OS instead of the recovery. Rebooted, wiped user data, cache, and Dalvik cache, flashed the GApps, and nothing.
Not being sure if it was the ROM or the GApps package, I flashed the MIUI beta then flashed the GApps (using the same sequence of steps mentioned above) and it still didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be specific to CM7.
Ok try these steps:
1. Download the ROM
2. Download GApps from here: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
3. Wipe the big 3's (user data, cache and dalvik-cache).
4. Flash the ROM.
5. Flash Gapps.
6. Boot without erasing anything.
I followed your instructions exactly but I still have the same problem.
Interestingly, if I go into the list of installed applications in the settings, Market (but no other Google apps) shows up but it's greyed out and I don't have any options to run it or anything.

Crap. Something's really not right. Can you give it a try with the SuperOSR ROM? Need to see if it's specific to the CM build.
EDIT: Can you try searching for the Market .apk file around the forum and install it manually? It should be somewhere in Themes&Apps section. Give that a try before trying with the SuperOSR ROM. Wipe, re-flash ROM, flash Market.apk, reboot.
Reason: the gapps provided by CM team are old (v2 market) and it might be that Google does not support v2 anymore since they've switched to Play Store. (not sure).
I did try with the MIUI ROM and the same thing happened, I don't think it's specific to your ROM build. Perhaps my phone just doesn't like Cyanogen's GApps package? No idea why that would be though.
Anyway, I did as you suggested and installed an APK and it worked! I found this one on Redmond Pie and put in the SD and installed it with the file browser on the phone. Seems to work fine so far

Awesome!
While you're here, a bug I've noticed that's only popped up on your ROM is that, when I turn the phone off, sometimes the orange light stays on and the phone's completely frozen up until I pull the battery. It's only happened twice but I thought it might be something to look into.
Other than that, it's very good! I'm enjoying it, keep up the good work

It's a CWM based problem. Update your CWM recovery to the latest one from the CWM thread in the Dev section and you are good to go.
Way too many CWM's in two sentences..
I'll do that now, cheers
Glad to know you are up and running, but it's still quite strange. Every time I flashed CM7.2 (it it was quite a lot of times GApps were there, Market included. Just running the Market app would actualize it to Play Store automagically.
Of course, as Alex says, it may not be supported by Google anymore, but still you should have gmail, etc from the zip file even without a working Play Store...
The issue was probably related to CWM, if you have an old enough version it could be messing up with the zip internals, but sometimes it's just anything else... (I installed the first CM9 alpha rom w/o problem, the second one wouldn't install, one week later, doing exactly the same with the same zip file, it installed flawlessly)
It may also be related to the specific terminal, I have noticed that depending on the device type (country of release, free or network operator locked, and so on) terminals behave a little bit different in some aspects (e.g. my GPS stopped working after unlocking the bootloader and was only fixed when I reflashed the radio firmware after getting S-OFF; and now, with the CM9 alpha, my keyboard won't get backlight while it's dark outside but adxl's is working fine, which is bad for debugging purposes, of course )
If you could make a backup and install SuperOSR and see if everything works fine the first time (even if you go back to CM afterwards, as I did) it may help to understand the issue better... Or maybe just posting your phone's specific data (model, build, country, etc) may give us a hint.
We know that free UK terminals are somewhat different to Spain free terminals, and those are a bit different from Orange or Yoigo locked terminals... It may be related to hardware batches out fro the factory, who knows?
Enjoy your ChaChaCha!
I think the problem was my CWM in the end. After I upgraded it (that alone included some trial and error, eventually the fastboot method worked) the GApps zips worked fine.
So if anyone else has this problem, check your CWM version and upgrade it if you need to
Can i Upgrade CWM without any change of my current OS ?
i actually couldnt go to Market after i flashed GServices. I downloaded newest Google Play in HTC Chacha apps, installed it and it work until now (of course wit GService flashed before).
Btw, how can i check my current CWM. Thanks!

Hello there!
I've came by to add my issue, similar to yours.
I was on CM7 too and wanted to try the SuperOSR ROM. I used the common steps for flash it (all cache Wiping and factory reseting, ROM installing, Gapps installing), rebooting my phone, connect it with a Google account, launched Gmail and then when I've arrived at a certain level of my mails, the app crash...
For the Google Play app, I've got a server connexion error...
It's like if all the Google's framework was here but totally not stable...
I've tried with an another ROM, the MUI ROM and everything works...
Like I said, I came from the CM7 ROM wich was working...

Hi, I registered in this forum just to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was searching for that appropriate GApps for the CM7 I installed previously with the GApps for Ginger Bread (not the same with this link you posted) and it gave me a headache too. I tried flashing for 3x & the Gapps were not working. Then I tried this link and VOILA! Now my smile is from ear to ear.. so SALAMAT! (Tagalog word for THANK YOU). I'm from Philippines anyway. I bookmarked this page for future reference. A million thanks to XDA Developers and it's helpful members & thanks for welcoming me even I'm a noob..:laugh:
How is AEX Rom in terms of battery, camera, gaming, customization, performance, etc... I am thinking to flash one!!
also if u have suggestions for any other roms better than AEX plzz let me know...
thanks in advance..
I ran AEX 6.1 for 2 months, my opinion is:
Battery: good but not the best i could get. You'll surely arrive to the end of the day, but i never went over 1.75 days with a moderate usage (no socials, i often listen music and browse the web, i use obviously calls and messages and i hop on XDA sometimes and finally i like to play old games emulated).
Camera: almost as stock, you'll achieve the best results with Footej Camera (thanks @Mannan Qamar for letting me discover this camera app!).
Gaming: i used only and exclusively emulators for PC games like Quake, and overall for good old PSX and various consoles classics like NeoGeo/MAME stuff, so my opinion here won't count much because those games are easily playable on almost phone of nowadays.
Customization: surely not a world like RROS customizations awaits you, but i was satisfied with what i found (buttons functions, move the clock to the center, recents gestures, navigation bar modifications, ecc.) and I'm sure you'll discover that by yourself if you'll use it.
Performance: very good. I don't remember heavy or light lags while scrolling or doing various activities. There was some functions that didn't worked by the way, like vibrate on call answer and music interrupted on audio players even if the player was whitelisted from battery optimization menu, but nothing that compromised the correct execution of the OS.
But in all this, the most important thing is that the ROM has been dropped by the developer because newer builds that came after last one, upstreamed to latest AEX sources, didn't booted on Hi6250 devices. That said, I'd personally try the ROM if I'd like to give it a shot, but I'd rely on other projects if you're planning to keep your 6X as daily driver. Actually I'm using Descendant 2.1 GSI, and it's a bomb system. Much than satisfied with it. Check it out - https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...escendant-android-pie-custom-rom-ver-t3840578

does descendant rom has any bugs in honor 6x?
At the moment, the only one is that in-depth battery statistics (not general SoT and remaining hours on battery menu, i mean single app usage and battery consumption) aren't available due a bug. Like you can see in the screenshot attached, to be clear. Everything else rocks!

There are instructions in OP, it's a Generic System Image so instructions are general for every device.
Anyway, to make it short: flash Descendant arm64 a-only version through fastboot (or through TWRP, but you'll have to reflash stock recovery for the next step, so it's useful to have already stock recovery) then reboot to recovery (stock) and factory reset. Then reboot to fastboot again, flash TWRP and then all the rest (GApps, Magisk...). For GApps, use SimpleGApps or BitGApps, google for them and you'll find those easily.

That's the problem. The encryption error is normal, usually after that you need to reboot to stock recovery, format data, factory reset and finally let it boot.
Try this: go back to stock Oreo using HuRUpdater (bootloader will remain unlocked, so don't worry) and this time, don't flash TWRP yet. When you are fully stock, reboot to fastboot and flash Descendant there. Reboot and this time if phone shows encryption error and asks to format data partition, do it, it's nothing harmful. Factory reset and reboot, and once system boots up correctly, flash TWRP from fastboot and then all the rest.

Hello, I have an issue described above. It happens on MIUI 12.0.3, 12.0.4, Pixel Experience custom ROM with locked and unlocked bootloader. I tested all these scenarios and problem doesn't diseappear.
Apps that are experiencing this are Mi Browser, Boost for Reddit, Instagram, Mi Calendar, tigr Gcam (which works on Poco X3) and some more which I can't remember.
Other users don't have this problem, only me.
I would love to record it but you guessed it: Screen recorder is also freezing and crashing. Mentioned apps need around 1 minute to open and when it finally opens, it can happen that it freezes again.
No problem for apps like Google Chrome, official Reddit app, Phone, Messages etc.
This started happening when i flashed xiaomi.eu ROM.
I rolled back to 12.0.3 Global with fastboot in hope that it is an issue with 12.0.4 and custom ROMs based on it but the issue still persists!
How this bug remained on other ROMs too when I always do clean flash, no idea.
This is insane, please help!
Just to add that at first i didn't flash xiaomi.eu properly, i wiped all partitions possible in TWRP except MicroSD card (Cache, Dalvik cache, Data, Internal Storage) as i did that type of clean flash on older phones, formated data and than flashed xiaomi.eu. The issue started after that. Is it possible to solve it?
NitrogenOS with Android 11 fixed this issue.
Got the MIUI update yesterday, so many things are now not working properly, mainly the full gesture control which isn't working at all and when using the button layout, the recent app button doesn't do anything either.
I am using Nova launcher, I deleted most of the bloatware that came with the phone including the default launcher when I bought the phone a couple of months back.
yone else faced this and is there a fix.
Have you tried a factory reset?
You've come from MIUI 11 to 12 which is a major version update. (Or are you referring to Android 10 to Android 11).
A lot of things are buggy after any major update release. A factory reset will solve all of the problems. Back up your data before.
Just updated mine as well, it is buggy as hell, I thought it's just a security updates.
The UI is noticeably lag, the brightness slider doesn't work properly.
Generally and in Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco case, experience tells me it absolutely doesn't pay to rush into updates. Better be patient, IMHO...

Full wipe is so tiring.
Anything gesture related is broken.
3 finger swipe down for ss - broken
All gestures - broken
No more option to toggle MIUI optimization
Just updated and so far those are the only issues I am facing.
Btw, Ive upgraded from 12.0.8. android 10, to 12.0.8. android 11 miui global.
Never gonna rush an update again, and probably never gonna buy a xiaomi device.
Ok, silly question, if I had TWRP and Magisk and stupidly clicked ok to update via OTA, do I have to do a full wipe? It's now stuck in TWRP at reboot.
Hello All!
I've posted this question on Xiaomi.eu forums already, but got no replies in days. I was hoping someone here might have some suggestions.
I installed the latest stable version of Xiaomi.eu on my Xiaomi 12 (MIUI 14.0.4.0 TLCCNXM Stable).
The ROM works great most of the time and I did not have issues up until 2 days ago.
I was chatting with someone on Viber and, out of nowhere, the screen froze. I could swipe up to go back to home and the phone worked, but Viber would freeze every time I open it and show a message about the app crashing. I force closed the app, but the issue persisted. I then opened Firefox to search for the issue, but Firefox closed after a few seconds too.
The only solution was to reboot the device.
The same problem happened again today, out of nowhere. It does not appear to be an issue with any single app, since this also happened with Discord and some other apps, and it feels completely random.
Did anyone have any similar issues? If not, does anyone from the dev team know what might be the problem?
I'm not using modified apps or any unusual apps, just your regular stuff like Viber, WhatsApp, Firefox and a few games.
The only reason I chose the stable version in the first place and not the weekly is because I hoped it was... well, stable, so I can avoid issues like this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

This sentence is confusing, edit your post, otherwise you will have the same answers, data format.

And for VIBER for example, almost all permissions must be granted, including autostart.

I also enabled auto start for all applications I want to auto start, including Viber.
Same Stable build for 2 weeks i never encounter that issue.
I still do, all the time. Now with WhatsApp too.
I'm thinking of rolling back to global stable. It's missing a lot of features compared to Xiaomi.eu, but it at least worked.
Anyone know of a good way to rollback to global stable?

Xiaomi I never buy again after that.
