AEX Rom performance in h6x? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

How is AEX Rom in terms of battery, camera, gaming, customization, performance, etc... I am thinking to flash one!!
also if u have suggestions for any other roms better than AEX plzz let me know...
thanks in advance..

I ran AEX 6.1 for 2 months, my opinion is:
Battery: good but not the best i could get. You'll surely arrive to the end of the day, but i never went over 1.75 days with a moderate usage (no socials, i often listen music and browse the web, i use obviously calls and messages and i hop on XDA sometimes and finally i like to play old games emulated).
Camera: almost as stock, you'll achieve the best results with Footej Camera (thanks @Mannan Qamar for letting me discover this camera app!).
Gaming: i used only and exclusively emulators for PC games like Quake, and overall for good old PSX and various consoles classics like NeoGeo/MAME stuff, so my opinion here won't count much because those games are easily playable on almost phone of nowadays.
Customization: surely not a world like RROS customizations awaits you, but i was satisfied with what i found (buttons functions, move the clock to the center, recents gestures, navigation bar modifications, ecc.) and I'm sure you'll discover that by yourself if you'll use it.
Performance: very good. I don't remember heavy or light lags while scrolling or doing various activities. There was some functions that didn't worked by the way, like vibrate on call answer and music interrupted on audio players even if the player was whitelisted from battery optimization menu, but nothing that compromised the correct execution of the OS.
But in all this, the most important thing is that the ROM has been dropped by the developer because newer builds that came after last one, upstreamed to latest AEX sources, didn't booted on Hi6250 devices. That said, I'd personally try the ROM if I'd like to give it a shot, but I'd rely on other projects if you're planning to keep your 6X as daily driver. Actually I'm using Descendant 2.1 GSI, and it's a bomb system. Much than satisfied with it. Check it out - https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...escendant-android-pie-custom-rom-ver-t3840578

does descendant rom has any bugs in honor 6x?

At the moment, the only one is that in-depth battery statistics (not general SoT and remaining hours on battery menu, i mean single app usage and battery consumption) aren't available due a bug. Like you can see in the screenshot attached, to be clear. Everything else rocks!

can u please tell the steps to flash this rom on my phone as I am a newbie for flashing roms...
thanks in advance:laugh:

There are instructions in OP, it's a Generic System Image so instructions are general for every device.
Anyway, to make it short: flash Descendant arm64 a-only version through fastboot (or through TWRP, but you'll have to reflash stock recovery for the next step, so it's useful to have already stock recovery) then reboot to recovery (stock) and factory reset. Then reboot to fastboot again, flash TWRP and then all the rest (GApps, Magisk...). For GApps, use SimpleGApps or BitGApps, google for them and you'll find those easily.

This didn't happened to me and sounds like if something went bad. Have you performed a factory reset in stock recovery after flashing Descendant?

1st I unlocked bootloader, 2nd I flashed twrp recovery, 3rd I flashed descendant rom img file, 4th I flashed BitGapps then I flashed stock recovery and factory reset it... but before flashing stock recovery descendant rom booted up and showed encryption error...so i long pressed the power button and went to fastboot to flash stock recovery....

That's the problem. The encryption error is normal, usually after that you need to reboot to stock recovery, format data, factory reset and finally let it boot.
Try this: go back to stock Oreo using HuRUpdater (bootloader will remain unlocked, so don't worry) and this time, don't flash TWRP yet. When you are fully stock, reboot to fastboot and flash Descendant there. Reboot and this time if phone shows encryption error and asks to format data partition, do it, it's nothing harmful. Factory reset and reboot, and once system boots up correctly, flash TWRP from fastboot and then all the rest.

Shouldn't be any reason you couldn't use TWRP. I'm pretty sure nard himself uses it. The CWM was a CM project for a long time, and still the recovery built within it. Everyone pushes their stuff.
been running M7 for about a day now. had one fc with touchdown, my work email client, but otherwise looks good. surprised i had to manually change build.prop to set the dpi. i'm not blind, so i hate the trend towards gigantic fonts even on smallish screens like this one.
i also wasn't able to use tibu to restore securid from my old phone (vzw droid4) but i suspect that app uses some system properties like imei to create its security, so it can't be moved... not a problem. just have to do clean in stall and reimport the token.
one thing i noticed even in cm11m2 on my d4 as well as on this phone in cm11m7 is that the included sms app doesn't actually have a dark theme, and that sticks out like a sore thumb. even when you check the box for dark theme in the sms app itself, it's still white. not a huge deal obviously but doesn't match the rest of cm's normal polish.

The "use dark theme" option only applies to the quick reply pop up windows. The option is conveniently listed in the "quick reply" section.

doh, you're right. my point still stands about messaging not matching the rest of cm's theming. i guess they expect people to just use chomp, go, handcent or whatever other app... i like the standard one in cm tho. except for how light it is.
What did change from the blobs for the builds after 14 /06 ?
Running 14/06 now, really good, battery charging issues are gone (i think), because a new kernel/other blobs.
Where can you find more info about blobs changes (propetary) ?
I've been having data and sms issues lately since I switched to cm11 or any of the latest 4.3.3 builds. Was there a recent radio firmware released?

which build are you on? i'm running cm11-20140608-Snapshot-M7 (which is 4.4.2, not 4.3.3) and have no issues to report so far. i haven't given it a full shakedown yet - still haven't tried BT or GPS but so far so good. watched netflix on the bus this morning and never had an issue. my wife and i text a lot and haven't had issues w/ that either. this evening i'm going to try out BT with my elm327 obd-ii adapter and if i have time, test audio over an avantree cara adapter. i started google maps a couple times and it found me quickly and accurately but i haven't run gps for more than a minute or so at a time so i don't know how it'll do. maybe i'll turn it on while on the bus this afternoon and see if it works well for the whole ride home.

After a few minutes of playing with the CM M5 smartphone burned and became slow. Now the smartphone with the stock firmware does not burn more but it is slow. It works well this M7? You recommended me?
For a few months I used CM kitkat but I had to do a wipe. Now I do not know how to install the CM. I'm using the stock firmware.
To install:
1 rooted smartphone.
2 I copy "cm-11-20140608-SNAPSHOT-M7-apexqtmo.zip" in memory of the smartphone.
3 CWM 6.0.1.2 "install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard" I select "cm-11-20140608-SNAPSHOT-M7-apexqtmo.zip"
4 updates fail
What I'm wrong?
thanks for the help

First, use the most up-to-date recovery; I'm pretty sure that cwm 6.0.1.2 isn't it if I see 6.0.4.7 on other devices. I like using TWRP personally, and there's a thread in this forum for that. The outdated recovery is probably the main problem right there for the failed flash.
Second, it doesn't look like you wiped anything in your steps. No factory reset, not even wiping cache and dalvik. Most people do a clean flash (that's a factory reset in recovery) when troubleshooting a failure to install a custom ROM.
Try using the latest recovery, wiping at least cache and dalvik, and see if it helps.
Good luck

i second this. my steps were:
1- boot to download mode, install twrp
2- boot to recovery, flash CM
3- while still in recovery, flash gapps if you want them (make sure you have the correct version of gapps from the CM site)
4- still in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik
5- still in recovery, do factory reset
6- reboot normally (it's called 'system' in twrp) and start using phone
note that there is no need to copy/flash SU at any time because CM is already rooted.
using nightly 22/06 my phone slowed down to unusable slow, flashed 24/06 yesterday.
Never had this before on cm nightly's for the relay.
And the charging (usb) problems aren't over yet (sometimes it works fine for a few hours, sometimes a few minutes).
Did a clean install a week ago (didn't solve anything).

Ok. Now, find out what version of cpu you have and get some logs to help them track down your problems.
There's a search box in the corner.
I don't have any of the problems you are describing and I am betting the developers do not, either.

I am on T-Mo, I get this via the default android messaging app as well as hangouts, but I also have times where mobile data refuses to work as well.
Right now, I'm having this issue on 11-20140608-Snapshot-M7-apexqtmo. I did wipe data and cache before I flashed. I'm not sure what is causing my issue.
I am tempted to reflash it back to factory, and take it back under my total care and get it replaced for a S5, but I really like my keyboard. :crying:
did you wipe cache and dalvik after flashing the rom? the only quirk i've noticed on m7 is that if i don't reboot every couple of days, my work email program (touchdown) likes to get slow and crashy while composing emails. going to the recent apps drawer and closing everything there usually fixes that. gps and bluetooth work fine even at the same time and battery life is great. after having tried multiple roms on my droid4 and having gps and camera issues, i am pleasently susprised how stable cm is on this relay (which i've only had a couple weeks now).

I even tried that too. My phone's about a year and a half old now. I've noticed recently if the keyboard is out, or i'm holding the phone sideways, and I get a call, the phone app crashes over and over till i rotate it upward so the display is vertical, then it stops crashing(all while the phone is still ringing so I can still answer it.)

Multiple problems after flashing 5.0 stock images

Hi,
I just flashed my device with the new Android 5.0 stock image, only now i have multiple problems:
* mic doesn't work (i noticed since ok google detection setup doesn't work)
* no sound
* a lot of UI hangs/ crashes
* YouTube video's wont play
* calling doesn't work.
i already reflashed it multiple times, problems still persist.
i wiped my device before i flashed so i didn't dirty flash, and flashed all the .img separately.
Can anyone help me with this?
Update:
flashing this one with TWRP worked for me:

Multiple Android 5.0 problems on Nexus 5
I can't really help you much, but I wanted to express the fact that I also flashed the stock firmware image of Lollipop into my Nexus 5 and I am
experiencing a plethora of issues: Besides the ones you mention, please add CAMERA not working, show distorted image on screen, both back and frontal camera.
Shame on Google to release such a buggy and crappy firmware.... Truly expected it to be pristing.
On the other hand, have had on my other Nexus, a 4, the port of Android L and AOSP Android 5.0, pretty much flawless.... just barely minor issues...

There are issues:
- Battery dies in 4 hours. Battery stats aren't even refreshing to find out what is causing it. Phone is hot and eats like 1% in few mins. It actually discharges faster than I can charge! GSam battery monitor says it's Exchange Services that is eating all battery.
- Smart Lock loses connection to Windows 8.1 laptop
- Unable to unlock device, screen shuts down after you type in unlock PIN, after few retries it works

It's not crappy as I have no issues at all but that's not to say there are a few bugs here and there but mostly graphical bugs really. Functionality is flawless on my N5
Not even encountered a single crash, 8 hrs+ since installed. I wiped everything and didn't restore any apps. All freshly installed.
No solution I'm afraid, but just to let you know that I'm having exactly the same problem with the Microphone... so no phone calls, voice search etc. Just doesn't pick up any sound.
i reflashed the developer preview for now, that one does work without any problems (only the battery drain bug)
What method did you use to flash. Through a tool kit or by fastboot
i used fastboot, also tried it with a toolkit, both same result.

Oh hell... that's... so embarrasing.
I have a Pressy.... I forgot I had it plugged in.... for some reason Lollipop saw it as a heaphone and mic.
I'm gonna just go sit in the corner now.
Guys, here's a thought - as it's a new base perhaps doing a FULL RESET is the way forward
I always do a complete reset and flash from fastboot (not bloody toolkits) and never have any issues so I'm going to assume everyone with issues isn't wiping the phone first (I know the OP says they did a full wipe but in general, most don't)
Thinking this was a problem with the factory images... Didn't make any sense at all.

This worked for OP but I just tried to flash this image and it did not work. Still no MIC SOUND. THis all happened After I flashed Xtrasmooth ROM from the xda dev section. Man this is depressing, is there anything else I can try ? I did a full wipe prior to installing it. Phone does not pick any sound. Only pick sounds during call in speakerphone mode....
I notice a lot of people having issues with the stock image. Flash the custom Roms...they seem to be working MUCH better..

yep i believe the Miui10 is in Alpha and currently being tested by a closed group of users. we should see public Beta releases towards the end of June.
Im just curious if there is any difference in battery consumption to previous version of MIUI.
I've tried it a couple of days ago. There are some visual changes like new notifications panel UI, recents UI, In-call UI etc. A bit more IOS-ish as some say.
First of all, if you consider flashing it;
- You need the Raupe/Blunden twrp to flash it, other recoveries end up with error 7.
- After flashing this build; twrp will ask for a decrypt password and no password will be correct. So your internal storage won't be mounted on twrp no way to fix it at the moment.
- Magisk 16.4 is able to root it, don't know about previous ones.
- If you consider flashing other roms, you have to do factory reset(format data) to get your internal be able to mount on twrp again.
- It doesn't have google apps as it's China specific, so you need to install google apps manually by Google installer apk or there are zip files for miui 10 ported gapps which give force closes randomly.
- Can be a daily driver since all is working.
- Xposed won't work.
Other than these hick ups, it's good initial build. Fast and smooth, can't tell about battery life since I haven't used it for a long time. There are secondary releases(8.6.5) for some devices so can be around for Mix too. Cheers.

I'm willing to give this a shot, thanks for the input ??
Ok trying it now and everything seems to be working good. A little laggy at the moment so I'm just letting it set in. I was hoping the camera would've gotten updated but same old crappy camera software from previous MIUI firmware. Hopefully when they do release the final version we'll get a updated camera but all in all this is a keeper till we get updated version on here, hopefully...

Haven't tried that but I'll look into it today and report back.

Ok going through settings and as far as I can tell I don't see face unlock feature. I highly doubt the mix will get seeing as how old it is now, I never use it anyway on other devices so it's not a big deal to me. Everything is running very smooth and fast, I'm liking the Android P style look a lot, more than how it looks on the pixel but that's just me.
How did you go past decrypt after flashing via TWRP?

You just cancel it and internal storage will be unable to use on twrp. If you flash other things, you need to do it by an OTG.

Oh yes yes, I always use OTG just in case. Thanks for the info.
I installed it, but I keep loosing the recovery, when I reboot it goes to the Miui recovery.
Is there a way to disable the factory recovery overwriting the twrp.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks.

i think you should flash this file in twrp :
https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
after that the recovery shouldn't get replaced anymore.
That's weird I don't have any issues seeing my storage in TWRP, everything works.

really? can you show us the screenshot of the storage in twrp? what twrp version did you use? what other procedure did you perform in order not to encrypt storage? thanks
Thanks. That seems to have worked.

You need to delete
- system/etc/recovery-resource.dat
- system/bin/install-recovery.sh
- system/recovery-from-boot.p

i think he should need to format his Data and Internal Storage.
i can't remember the detail, but i once encountered this too, and i read that something about F2FS not supported or whatsoever.

It's weird I didn't format anything, just updated twrp, backed up my rom, wiped everything, installed new miui 10, installed magisk, wiped cache and dalvik and everything works perfectly...

OnePlus 6 performance

Hello, everyone
I recently bought 1+6 6/64 and I've been having performance problems since the first day. It came with Oxygen OS 9.0.2
There are many lags throughout the interface: left drawers, often scrolling when the content had just loaded and switching between apps, PUBG works in 30fps, Hearthstone - the same.
It's doesn't lag all the time (but most of it). I've cleared cache many times. Also, I've made factory reset once. It works just the same. Not better, not worse.
So I just don't understand what's going on. It's the next hardware. Everyone says 1+6 works super smooth. Why don't I always see this?
And yes, it's really fast. Apps run as if they are already opened.
Thanks for everyone who tries to explain this

How many apps do you have installed and also, are you rooted or still with locked bootloader.

Not so many apps. After I had made factory reset it worked just the same without installing anything. I can send you a screenshot of the apps, if you want.
Bootloader locked, no root

go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/official-oxygenos-5-1-5-ota-oneplus-6-t3794232 and download full official rom (about 1.5 gb in size) and flash it. On this phone, A/b setup works better when both rom slots have the same version on them for some reason.

So.. It still lags, for example, while animating image view in Twitter.
Everything is the same, but feels a little better than before flashing..

New OP6 user

Hello all
Long time no posting, basically since OPO days
Im back with OP family once again
I forgot all procedures for bootloader, recovery, root etc
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/rom-pixen-os-t3969005
I want this rom but i got few questions
And my newly aquired phone came with OP6 02 beta 25 build
Recovery - seems factory
Bootloader - how to check that?
Tried search tho, but im a bit of scared to even try anything without answers, it just isn't complete, too much of doubt i guess (how, where and why)
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Igor
Developer Options/OEM Unlock = turn it on
Check if ADB is enabled, if not, enable it and check if it's working correctly with drivers
Power off phone then volume up+power button
You are now in fastboot mode, connect phone to PC
Open windows prompt, type "Fastboot Devices" and check if phone is correctly seen
Then type "Fastboot OEM Unlock" a window should now appear on phone, select yes
Phone will reboot and formatted (so make backup before!)
At boot you'll now see bootloader warning screen, it's normal, wait for phone to boot up
Now you need TWRP
Reboot bootloader
You should have 2 TWRP files: one is .img and other is .zip (check here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/kernel-t3800965)
Connect phone to PC, type in prompt "fastboot boot name_of_recovery.img" phone should reboot and TWRP will start
Now from TWRP copy the TWRP.zip on phone memory than flash it, after that reboot to recovery to make sure it's still there, if so you can check guide to install PixenOS
Hope it's all clear

For me Oos open beta is always working fine with no crash or bugs, but i had your same SOT, minute less or more
Well it seems that my GPS is still not working
Is there any way to check that using some other app then G Maps
What are the chances that i got faulty devices with this GPS issues?
Try Google Earth, and try to reboot phone, GPS for me, at every first start of new rom, whatever it is, don't Working till restart
