I found Oneplus 8 in the trash - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

so guys i found a phone from a trash and tried to fix it but i found lot of CRITICAL PARTITIONS and couple of missing partitions... also EDL mode is probably broken too because it automatically goes to bootloader
is there any chance of life on that phone?

Someone probably tossed in in the trash after they took the OOS12 OTA
All jokes aside, is the bootloader unlocked? It's likely fixable if it is

Use fastboot & ADB guide for beginners. Download all required files so your PC can Connect to OPO VIA USB from PC. What PC OS do u use? Windows or Linux. Watch how to unlock boot loader, root, & install recovery tool or Return to stock OnePlus one YouTube video. Easiest start. Your phone will be OK. U need to down load drivers so u can use your PC to talk to your phone - pass instruction & activate 1+1 options. Install CM 11 or whatever ROM u want to use, as well as, 1+1 tools u may have lost is Recovery Tool.

You don't need a recovery to unlock the bootloader. Just boot it into fastboot mode, connect it to your Mac, and type 'fastboot oem-unlock' on the Terminal. Be careful, though, because you WILL lose ALL of your data!

Hmmm no recovery? When u hold down volume + power ?
Did u find the fastboot & adb tools for Mac?
What happens when u hold volume key up + power button at same time after turning device off?
What happens if u $fastboot devices -
Can u issue cmd "$fastboot oem unlock"
Know its frustrating but have to keep trying till u get in. Just have the rom files unzipped on your Mac ready to flash 1+1 when u get in. Its how I did it. When I wasn't able to but into recovery. Get on fastboot go thru OEM unlock, then flash 1+1. Follow the install script manually. Open script w plain text reader & just issue cmds following script. I don't trust scripts I + automation to get things unstuck.

Use Google, there are plenty of guides available online. Once you have fastboot working the best thing to do is to flash the stock images with fastboot. I have detailed instructions in section 8a of my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
Please note that fastboot commands are slightly different on a Mac but you'll see that when you view a guide on how to set it up and use it.

There's no point in duplicating my guide when all that's needed are a couple of extra characters prefixing each fastboot command.

You definitely can't boot into recovery? Most times not being able to get into recovery it's a case of user error. Hold volume down, then hold power (so you're holding them together), when you see the OnePlus boot logo let go of power but keep holding volume down until you reach recovery.

Pixel won't turn on.

Hi, my friend failed to resize the partition on his Pixel 1 OG to install OxygenOS. Now the only thing he could boot into was fastboot. He tried to unlock the bootloader (It was unlocked before he tried to resize partition, but after it bricked, the bootloader got locked for some reason) using the "fastboot oem unlock" command but since it was a Verizon model, the command returns: "bootloader: oem unlock is not allowed". I will provide some screenshot below.
I also provide the result of the "fastboot get-var all" command and there is no partition size. Usually there should be something there but not this time.
The recovery is gone and the only thing that actually work is the "Show barcode" option in fastboot.
When my friend chose the Reboot or Recovery mode, the Google logo appear for a >0.6 second then turn it self off.
Also tried booting into EDL mode but didn't seems to work. It might required a EDL cable.
Any help would be appreciated since my friend is pretty much desperate at this point since quaratine prevent him from getting a step out of his house lol.
He also send me his Pixel through mail lol.

It's a poor description to get a good helping attempt.
Anyway, generally speaking the way to fix this is using the official tool or a tool that works with your device and flash the official stock ROM.

Sorry, I'm not very good at this obviously. I am using platform-tools right now. I am getting "device unauthorized" when issuing adb reboot bootloader. I can boot to fastboot through recovery but when I try to flash the boot.img it just says < waiting for any device >. Earlier I fixed this by issuing "adb reboot-fastboot" and then flashing. But now I just get "$ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set" returned. That's why I'm wondering if theres any way to authorize the pc without a successful boot.

Not sure if you are mixing some things there, you are saying that you have "unauthorized device" through ADB commands but ADB works when device is on...but if you flashed a wrong boot image, could you boot to system some way?

Question How do I flash stock ROM with locked bootloader?

Hi guys,
so after I got my xiaomi with a global ROM and wanted to update and that is when I accidentally relocked the bootloader. The version of ROM was invalid apparently and wouldn't let me boot and now I'm stuck in fastboot mode.
My problem is as follows:
-can't enter recovery, stuck at fastboot no matter how many times I try and reboot
-adb not working since I didn't enable it
-bootloader locked (miflash says so and it can't unlock it since I didn't check 'oem unlock enable' and I cannot boot ROM so I can't enable it)
-fastboot flashing says 'not allowed in lock state'
-edl mode not available
I've seen tutorials where people opened their phones to force the phone into edl mode via the testing points but is that the only way`?
Any suggestions on how I could unbrick it?
Much appreciated
yes, it is the only way.

Can you flash files by fastboot? if so, flash the global rom images one by one, then reboot

I know this is a late reply, but I was in a similar situation with my phone and here is how I dealt with it: You need to access EDL mode, it doesn't require disassembling the device like the other user here suggested. Here is a thread you can find several variations of fixes here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xiaomi-12-pro-completely-bricked-dead.4422997/
If anyone needs help with a locked bootloader bootlooped phone and doesn't know what to do I can help for a fee.

Hello, My Poco X3 System destroyed itself while I was using it, it showed a glitch screen and turned off. Now I went to flash my mobile through Miflash but it showed the bootloader is locked and now I can't unlock it as the system itself is destroyed and can't do anything. So i wanted to know if i can flash my mobile with cmd as you said above flashing img files one by one or let me know if there is any method to flash my mobile or unlock the bootloader? Please me help bro
flashing is possible with modified firehose programmer (no auth factory loader) or with authorized xiaomi account. both solutions are paid service and cannot advertised here.
please -as always- read the thread you posted in. I can see useful information shared already. wait for other replies.

i tried to root my device i patched boot(using magisk) that i got from lenovos rescue thing and flashed it that didnt work so as a sugestion from LSS4181 in this post i did this
You need to edit out vbmeta.img / vbmeta_system.img to actually disable verification. Change the byte at offset 123 from 0x00 to 0x03.
Another way is to use the following command when flashing vbmeta. You may need to use a relatively newer version of fastboot binary to get it work.
Code:
fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta vbmeta.img

This is fastboot. Does your device show up in "fastboot devices"? Make sure you have an up-to-date fastboot binary for the purpose.
For modern Linux distros you should already have the rules necessary. If not, try run fastboot commands using sudo or as root and see if the device would appear.
On the other hand, I noted that in some cases the fastboot interface may have problems responding. In that case, reboot bootloader, then run your fastboot flash commands as soon as the device restarts.
Install RSA from Lenovo.
Following the instruction to rescue your unit as well as getting boot.img for patching
Moreover, install latest Android Platform Tools
Copy boot.img to your unit and patch with Magisk, and copy the patched_boot.img back to host PC.
Then reboot in fastbootd (adb reboot fastboot) and flash patched_boot.img
