While recently trying to update my opo running cm11 I clicked install update but then it rebooted and just went to a black screen and did nothing. I rebooted it but it hadn't installed. I found my boot loader was locked and i had no recovery at all installed does anyone know how to fix this.

Use fastboot & ADB guide for beginners. Download all required files so your PC can Connect to OPO VIA USB from PC. What PC OS do u use? Windows or Linux. Watch how to unlock boot loader, root, & install recovery tool or Return to stock OnePlus one YouTube video. Easiest start. Your phone will be OK. U need to down load drivers so u can use your PC to talk to your phone - pass instruction & activate 1+1 options. Install CM 11 or whatever ROM u want to use, as well as, 1+1 tools u may have lost is Recovery Tool.

You don't need a recovery to unlock the bootloader. Just boot it into fastboot mode, connect it to your Mac, and type 'fastboot oem-unlock' on the Terminal. Be careful, though, because you WILL lose ALL of your data!

Hmmm no recovery? When u hold down volume + power ?
Did u find the fastboot & adb tools for Mac?
What happens when u hold volume key up + power button at same time after turning device off?
What happens if u $fastboot devices -
Can u issue cmd "$fastboot oem unlock"
Know its frustrating but have to keep trying till u get in. Just have the rom files unzipped on your Mac ready to flash 1+1 when u get in. Its how I did it. When I wasn't able to but into recovery. Get on fastboot go thru OEM unlock, then flash 1+1. Follow the install script manually. Open script w plain text reader & just issue cmds following script. I don't trust scripts I + automation to get things unstuck.

Use Google, there are plenty of guides available online. Once you have fastboot working the best thing to do is to flash the stock images with fastboot. I have detailed instructions in section 8a of my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
Please note that fastboot commands are slightly different on a Mac but you'll see that when you view a guide on how to set it up and use it.

You definitely can't boot into recovery? Most times not being able to get into recovery it's a case of user error. Hold volume down, then hold power (so you're holding them together), when you see the OnePlus boot logo let go of power but keep holding volume down until you reach recovery.

If 'fastboot devices' returns nothing, then you are most likely missing drivers. Easiest way to get drivers is install HTC Sync Manager. It will install the app and the drivers, you can safely uninstall the app later and still have the drivers stay installed

Oh. That makes sense. It works now. Thanks a million. I owe you one.
I tried to root my Opo, but it started to go wrong after i flashed it. It went to reboot into TWRP, but all that happened was it crashed. the 1+ logo comes on and then the screen goes blank. This Happens all the time when I try a "fastboot oem unlock", factory reset, or a boot recovery.. the fastboot does work, but the device is also locked and i can't do a recovery due to this. I tried to do the root tutorial on youtube by C4ETech.. help please!
@nickizm, when you boot to fastboot and enter the command "fastboot devices", can you see your device listed on the screen?
Thanks for the reply.. The fastboot work fines apart from when I try to unlock the devices and it reboots into recovery, it crashes and doesn't unlock.. the rest of the phone works fine apart from the recovery... my bootloader is also locked and I can't unlock it due to crashing

I can't be certain but I'm pretty sure I read a similar issue to this a few days ago that was caused by not having the latest fastboot software, the user resolved it by downloading the latest android sdk and trying again.
Worth a shot.
Hope it helps.

Have you tried using a toolkit to do the unlock for you? People usually advise against using toolkits to do it for you as it prevents you gaining the experience of doing it yourself, but since it's not working when doing it yourself I don't see any harm in trying a toolkit.

I think you might be out of luck, unless someone here more knowledgeable than I can help.
If you have a recovery image (not zip) you can try running the following command (make sure the img file is in the same directory as your adb/fastboot files and rename it "recovery");
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
What this allows you to do is boot into the TWRP recovery without having it installed on your phone, but I think I read somewhere that this command no longer works.
EDIT: If the above command will let you boot into TWRP, you'll want to read the guide here and flash the script.

you did fastboot oem unlock. so saved data is wiped. but you should be able to boot into android system,

then go into settings developer options and enable USB debugging.

Hello,
I just broke my nexus 5 screen but the device is still working. I'd like to retrieve some files from my phone before buying a new one, like pictures or SMS for example.
Here is what I can do :
- Boot in fastboot mode
- Flash a custom recovery (ex : TWRP)
Here is what is not working :
- Device is not recognized in Windows file folder, then I suppose that MTP is not enabled
- no developer mode enabled
- no USB debugging mode enabled
- Then ADB is not working
By the way, the device is not unlocked and not rooted.
I tried to flash and boot into TWRP mode but I don't know how to "drive" it from my computer as the device screen is not working.
Could somebody help me please ?

if bl is not unlocked... you won't be able to flash a custom recovery to use ADB to pull files.. so.. you're done here.
I maybe found a solution but I need a specific apk.
I may use the sideload mode to push and install a ROM or an apk. The best would be to push/install an apk from sideload mode, and this apk would automatically launch itself at device startup and will activate USB debugging mode which will allow me to fully use adb.
What do you think about that ? Would you know an apk which would do that ?
Or secondary option, push a specific ROM with USB debugging enabled by default. But I'm afraid that it could erase all my data.

Well I guess you're a bit stuck unfortunately.
Can you try ubuntu.
download a live cd version and boot into ubuntu or maybe a smaller version of linux (i know ubuntu works)
once booted into ubuntu plug in the phone.
usually linux can read the file system even when windows can't
You can't flash anything unsigned with stock recovery.

Yes it does. And it's responding in fastboot and sideload mode. So the phone is working, it's just the screen which ia dead.
The only way is to install a custom recovery. There is no other way. However as you said, unlocking the bootloader will erase everything.

sorry that did not work.
when connected to ubuntu and you type "fastboot devices" do you get a response?
If so ubuntu can not browse file system in fastboot mode, you need to reboot back to the OS.
type fastboot reboot and when the phone reboots try to browse the file system.
I was working on rooting my device, and had a working root successfully with Magisk. But then I wanted to remove it and relock my bootloader, that's when the trouble started.
I am able to boot the phone and it is working. I can boot to recovery (stock OEM not TWRP), can boot to bootloader, and can boot and use the Oxygen OS. But I cannot get fastboot to run to lock the bootloader. ADB devices comes up empty. These are the steps that I've tried:
-using it on my chromebook that was working with ADB before the unrooting mess
-installed fastboot and adb along with Oneplus USB drivers on a fresh Windows 8 copy
-2 different red OEM oneplus cables
My goal is to return completely to stock and a locked bootloader. Any help would be appreciated, it really seems to be a phone issue and not a driver issue. Thanks everyone!

Absolutely. Just checked again. I would normally say it was a driver issue, but it was working fine until I flashed a boot.img and also I used a windows pc and a Chromebook and chrome os pretty much comes ready to talk to android phones or of the box. I was wondering if adb could have been messed up during the flashing of boot images.

I relocked bootloader and now phone won't boot past bootloader. It's only giving options to "start/ recovery/ restart bootloader/ power off" Phone is getting recognised in fastboot, but since I relocked bootloader I can't flash anything at all. Kindly help me what I can do for this mess. I tried using bootloader lock commands and it's saying bootloader already locked. I'm feeling helpless. Kindly help
First try and enter recovery and see of you can do a factory reset. Can you do that?

Not entering recovery or anything! It's just stuck there. When I turn off and try to restart it again stays the same ie. On bootloader.

I mean can you scroll with the volume up/down buttons to you see Recovery and push the power button to enter recovery like normal? If you can, try doing a factory reset from there. If that's not possible, try doing a RAW firmware install - but check if you can just do a normal reset first..
If adb works just try with
Code:
adb flashing unlock
or
Code:
adb oem unlock
If it doesn't work reboot to bootloader and try again.

Even if I prees button on recovery it against reboots to same place. It's like an example infinite bootloop.

OK. Guessing you've locked the bootloader with a tampered boot.img without flashing stock boot back first. You should be able to use a RAW file to rebuild the firmware (your private stuff will be lost though).

No I've flashed stock boot.img before and flashed afterwards. Can I still flash anything with bootloader locked?

Yes I'm quite sure you should be able to flash a clean firmware with a RAW rom. Use the FTM flashall script.
This probably shouldn't be a how to guide and the title should be something more descriptive than "help"
A how to guide typically includes instructions, like this one:
WARNING: Read BEFORE Locking Bootloader
DO NOT LOCK THE BOOTLOADER WHILE ROOTED! When locking the bootloader while rooted, the boot image will fail verification and the system will fail to boot. You cannot flash a stock boot image with a locked bootloader. Locking the bootloader will...

The good news is that you can still flash a raw firmware with the bootloader locked.

In the future, take the time to look at the guides here before jumping into anything that involves the system or bootloader unless you are absolutely sure you know what you're doing.
