Get dual video in working? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I have a Seicane HU in my MB SLK55/2010 and I can't get the second video in working..
I took a copy of the webside with the model incase there's information there that could be of interest: Seicane H240N - Android Head Unit.
I'm still struggling to understand what all this means, what all the different models and specs mean, but I figure I'd ask the actuall question, maybe that will clear things up for me .
Kernel: 4.19.111+ (#2262)
MCU: MTCE_HF_V3.55_1 (Jun 4 2020 11:17:35)
Build: rk3368-userdebug 10 QQ2A.200305.004.A1 eng.hct2.20200915.135247 test-keys
Memory: 4GB
Serial: D1CF459790D5B715
COU: Octa-core Cortex-A53 @ 1.5G
Model: H2(1280x720) - H240N
So I've connected the rear camera on #6 ("Rear Camera Video IN") which works perfectly. The HU switches to that as soon as I put the reverse gear in. I can also view it with apps on the HU.
I've connected the front camera on #7 and given the camera constant power. But I don't get any picture. The HU/Android can't find any camera! If I swapt the two, the front cam works just fine, so it's not the camera or the power to it..

The actual cable harness simply say "Video IN" on that #7, so.. ?
I've checked the "Car Settings -> Factory Settings" and as far as I can tell, I've configured it correctly.
As stated above, I'm still struggling to understand how these HU differ from "normal" Androids or Linux systems, BUT I'm thinking that maybe there's no driver for the second Video IN?

Come to think of it, the apps (ALL apps I've tried) say they can't find ANY camera.. Which is weird, because I know for a fact that the rear one works just fine (HU switches to it automatically on reverse gear).
So maybe it's the apps/Android that can't handle CVBS cameras?? But then, if that's the case, is it possible to .. "make" a CVBS camera show up as a .. "real" (for lack of better word) camera?

I just tried "F-Cam" and that have a small icon that allows you to choose front or rear cam. Rear cam works fine, but not the front one..
If I swap the two on the inputs, the front one works but not the rear.. So it's not the cameras..

Double checked, I have constant +12V to the front cam as soon as I turn the ignition on..

if you have avin app check do you have picture from front camera in that app

Oh, that works now! I'm sure it didn't used to. But I've been fiddling with the settings and now it works!
But the other apps don't.. Does that mean they don't "understand" ("look for") a camera on CVBS?

its hard for me to explain when im not native english speaker but yes kind of they dont understand

Ok, thanx. Do you know if there's a driver (or app) that can .. "translate" the CVBS AVIN signal into a .. "proper" camera input for other apps?

as i said its hard for me to explain but i will try
avin and signal that fcam receive is totally different
you can connect rear cam to video in and you will receive signal on avin app but you would not get on f cam on when you put in reverse
im not 100% sure but thats hardware problem not software
i dont know any easy app or driver solution so you only have programming solution if you know how to program etc
only solution for you is split screen and put avin and f cam app or change hu that have front cam in as my hu had and works perfect
i hope i helped you

It shouldn't be TOO hard to write a driver or app that can run in the background and "fool" the system that the CVBS video is actually USB video. I think..
IN THEORY (!!) it should be possible to write a Android kernel driver that emulates a USB device, but actually takes its input from CVBS and then present that on the USB side.
But either way, I think this is to much for me. A proper DVR camera is only £15-25, so not worth the trouble. I just have to bite the bullet and get a proper USB DVR camera instead..

Night vision possible with camera?

Hi,
This idea is with me a long time. In general: can I use the camera in my phone for night vision.
I know cmos and ccd chips are sensitive to infrared (point a remote control at the camera). If strong IR leds are mounted in the front of the car it must be possible to see in the dark with your mobile camera on the dash.
Also in foggy conditions it might help you seeing what is in front of the car.
Probably you need to take out the internal IR cut filter (IIRCF) from the lens assembly
to let IR pass to the ccd/cmos. (http://www.dpfwiw.com/ir.htm#iirc)
Is there anyone with some experience on this matter?
I done it with my Uni a while back, it's a delicate and non-reversible process.
Thing is, you could probably use ultra bright IR LED's without removing the IR filter but for better results you need to remove the IR filter. However, in doing this you will not be able to use the camera in daylight, it will be all blury.
See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397844
You did find the IR filter behind the lens? Did you replace the IR glass filter with dual layer DARK film negative?
You must do this to block the visible light so only let IR through.
I don't use the camera much. I have better equipment for that
A carkit holder behind the windscreen and a few (STRONG) IR leds in the grille
of the car might give you extra sight in darkness or foggy conditions.

When the camera app is running. Even better would be head up display but that is a little far fetched.
Was it easy to remove the fixed camera lens? I cannot screw it off and might damage it (magician phone) Looks like it is glued to keep it's (fixed) focus.
Cheers
In the link I provided I done it with a Nokia, can't remember if I done it with my Uni or not, but I should imagine it is a similar process.
Getting the back of the camera off is tricky, I just prised mine off with a small screwdriver, but like I said in the linked post don't push it in too far else you may wreck the camera. Getting the front of the camera off was also tricky, they usually just unscrew but need a fair bit of brute force, when you do get it open be careful to note which way round the sensor on the back and the lenses go!
Unfortunately I don't have my Uni up here with me atm so I don't have anything to compare to.
Yes you are right you do have to use a double layer of negative to filter out the visible spectrum.
As for the HUD, I can remember tinkering with this idea when I was trying to fit a computer into my car and the closest I came was that the brightness of the Uni's screen was such that it would reflect off my windscreen and be visible in the dark.
Last point if you are going to fit this to your car: Make sure you check out what the law is regarding IR lamps on cars not too sure if it is legal over here as some speed cameras use IR and your lamp could blur it.
All the best, keep us updated
Sweet haha, that would be something
How sweet it actually is when it is reality...
The 2000-2005 Cadillac Deville / DTS / DHS all had optional equipment that placed a night vision camera behind the grille where the Cadillac crest would normally be and had the image displayed on a heads up display on the windshield. It was about a $4000usd option.

HA2158-V840-8 Dasaita Reverse Camera Question

Hello experts,
I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler with the 6-speed manual transmission.
I am having an issue trying to get the head unit to automatically switch to the reverse camera when I place the vehicle in reverse.
I have wired the system up as described by Daisaita because my canbus decoder does not sense the reverse input from the canbus. (Example of wiring attached)

The camera works and I have verified that I have 12vdc present at the orange "trigger" wire, that is labeled as "reverse" on the head unit, when in reverse.
I have been through all of the settings and cannot see anything that might affect the unit not switching. Could it be a wrong canbus setting under factory settings?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with my Nissan Rogue. Just connect the reverse cable with 12v but nothing happened. It is as if the player did not detect the presence of the camera. I would appreciate any help.
Cam only working via app
I have a Suzuki swift sport with a dasaita head unit. I have the camera to the reverse light via a rectifier suggested at time of purchase of the camera. The trigger wire is connected to the reverse light power before the rectifier. When using a voltmeter while the reverse light is on I get no voltage through it (this is strange?)
On the other end of this, when the trigger is spliced into the ACC (direct power) and the video from the camera is connected to the video in, I only get an image through the video app while in reverse. This is despite constant power from the ACC cable when not in reverse.
If I move the trigger wire to the reverse wire the camera no longer works.
If I move the rca to the CAM In with the reverse cable the video doesn't work. (this is the normal set up as in instructions)
If I join the reverse cable to the ACC cable, this voltage triggers the head unit to go to reverse mode without an image. Just the yellow triangle.
So
1. the camera works
2. The car going into reverse triggers the camera to work
3. Adding voltage on the reverse cable makes the head unit go into reverse camera
4. I can't get an image from the camera unless I use the video in app
Hi, I'm looking for pinouts of RCA out of Dasaita units.
Can someone send a picture here?
Thanks

PX5 Backup Camera Exclamation Mark (SOLVED)

Finally decided to update my old Android Newsmy Carpad NU3001 and went for a PX5 10.1" Universal 2Din found here (came with Android 9 not 8).
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32958291605.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2b0e4c4d5Be3B7
They only thing I can't get to completely work is the backup camera. Here is what I tired and the results which is something I never had a problem with in my other android car stereo. Here is a picture of the wiring diagram for reference.

1. The Main wiring harness (K) has a "Back" (pink color) wire and Camera Video Input. Connected the camera to them and am getting weird results. When the car key is in the ON position or car is running, the camera works properly when in reverse, but when it's not in reverse, I get a blank screen with a big warning icon that I can't get rid of (maybe some safety precaution that I can't disable). In the software settings, I even went to Settings > Car > Factory Settings (which uses password 126) > Other > Prohibit Reverse > Disabled. But that totally stops the reverse camera from working. The odd thing is that when the car is in the ACC position, the PX5 doesn't get the blank screen with warning icon and the unit works, but of course the camera doesn't because the key isn't in the ON position.
2. Wiring harness (G) is a dedicated harness for Mic and Reverse Camera. There is a "Reverse" (pink color) wire, a Camera Video Input, and a "Camera B+" (yellow color) wire. Connected the camera to Reverse and Camera Video Input, but nothing. The unit works fine when the key is in ACC, ON, or car is running but the camera won't come on when in reverse.
Any help would gladly be appreciated. Spent one whole day trying to fix this with no luck.
What did the reseller advise when contacted for support? How have you validated the wiring?

I'm still waiting on a reply, though these China resellers on Aliexpress area a hit and miss when it comes to support. As for validating the wiring, I can safely say that I validated everything and tried everything. The same setup worked flawlessly on my old Android unit. Here, it just isn't happening. If I can just find out why I am getting a blank screen with a yellow warning message when the car is in the ON position and remove it, I'll be all good.

As always, when I ask someone or somewhere, I end up solving my own problem. Well it looks like there was a +12v signal heading to the "Back" wire from the reverse lights. That's why when the car key was on the ON position it was tricking the headunit to think that the car was in reverse, but it wasn't. And that is why I was constantly getting the yellow warning exclamation screen.
All I had to do was add a third wire with a resistor (around 10k ohms or less) and ground it to the car stereo. Now everything works as normal.
Leaving this up in case someone else runs into this problem and needs a quick fix.
So you took the two positive red wires and solder a black ground wire to a 10k ohm resistor, and then soldered that wire to a ground on the radio?
That allowed the camera to come on when putting vehicle in reverse?

Weird camera bug

Hey xda forums, not sure exactly where else I could post this as this seems like a weird software bug.
The problem is the cameras; they are not working as they should. The main lens apparently does not exist, and the cameras are glitched to the point where only the telephoto lens appears on one side (with it having the ultrawide icon and apparent 0.6x magnification when in reality it is using the telephoto lens zoomed in as normal)
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
By pressing the "flip cameras" button, the flipping mechanism does not work. However, the view is flipped 180° and suddenly the ultrawide lens appears! (Disguised as telephoto lens on the app and apparent 3x zoom when it actually is just the ultrawide lens working normally). I would need to manually adjust the flip camera tool to have the camera flip out to me. Also, when taking a picture the app just crashes, and no picture is taken.
The problem also exists in other applications. Snapchat only uses the wide angle lens. However, pressing the flip cameras button does trigger the flip mechanism; a problem here is that the cameras are 180° (upside down).
When using the flashlight feature from the notifications bar, the flashlight turns on and immediately the camera flips, blinding me with the flashlight facing me lol
Anybody have any suggestions on what to do?
Things i noticed before this happened was an error message "The cameras are being used by another application. Please try later". When this message started appearing, all 3 cameras were viewable in the camera app, but when flipping the camera, the app would crash if i tried to flip with the main lens. This lasted for about a week, then the camera app degraded to what I have just described
Things I have tried are:
- Use an alternative camera, such as GCam (won't open, immediately crashes)
- Safe mode
- Factory reset
- Install TWRP and Magisk, advanced wipe and download the ROM off asus website (The ROM which my phone came with as the cameras were working normally for about a month before this happened)
- Install another version of AsusCamera (internet or make backups of system/priv-apps/AsusCamera onto an SD Card and then install)
None of these seem to work. If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Question T'eyes DVR missing info on video, but rear camera almost perfect.. Weirdo's

Okay I am a little amazed at the output from the T'eyes DVR. Comparable quality to any other Dashcam I have seen so far.
But on the recorded footage it only has a Date/Time stamp.
No flashy product branding (very unlike T'eyes). No Speed Value. No GPS location.
See below picture.

But the Rear Camera has nearly everything!! Including flashy logo.
Except location isn't working. But I am guessing the CamRec app does have access at the moment.
The DVR should be able to access the head unit GPS value via USB comms. I have checked the DVR TF card files, but other than an event folder with nothing in it, there is nothing else of interest recorded.
How do I or anybody make suggestions to T'eyes for improvements?
Have you tried clicking on the DVR image while the front camera is displaying? Mine has a ton of settings, including speed, GPS, timestamp, ADAS calibration and more.

Hey what? I thought I had gone through everything.. I'll check. You mean the app that sets up ADAS?
Yes. For my unit it's in one app. ADAS and the front DVR. I'll upload the DVR app which came with the camera. You'll need to update it as there's a newer version, but you can do that in the app too.

Yes, I double checked the App on my T'eyes CC3. While I do need glasses, I am confident that there is no overlay options in my software.
I did find the "Update" software button, and it said something about no update being available temporarily. (Must be a russian-english way of phrasing it)
