My TF used to be able to connect to my PC and my Mac so I could do file copies and transfers. A few days ago I was running low on space and deleted some old music and movies and stuff that was in the ASUS folder. Now I can connect to any PC or mac. I thought maybe I deleted something so I decided to update the rom with the official file from asus but I copied the file to the root of sdcard and the root of external sdcard and booted into recovery but get an exclamation mark on the andoid guy.
1. Why wont this damn thing connect to my computers NOW when it did before? Did I delete something on the TF that would allow this? I downloaded all the usb drivers and sync SW from asus for the PC and Mac but no go.
2. How the hell to I restore the rom from the update file?
I am not rooted and run completely on stock.
Really? No one knows if there are files on the TF that controls computer connecting?
How are tou trying to connect to your pc? Regularly, as if you were going to sync? If your tf is not booting, you can't connect in this mode.

I would normally just connect the tablet to my computers via the usb cable. On my mac I would run the android file utility and it would mount. On the PC I would run the asus synch sw. But now none of these work. I connect to the pc and if the tf is in sleep mode it would wake but I get no prompt on the tab to run pc synch and if i run the sw on the pc it says no device detected. on the mac I run the android file utility and it says no device connected. The cable does not look busted and it still charges the tab. I dont know what was in the asus folder on the tablet when I deleted it but I am thinking there must have been something there that would run.
I am trying to update the tf with the firmware file I d/led from asus's website but I dont know where to put the file. I put it in the root of sdcard and in the root of external sdcard and booted into recovery but just get the android guy with excalamtion.
If I let it boot up normally it works fine, just wont mount.
I don't think you'll be able to update if you went in and randomly deleted a directory. Especially if it was labelled ASUS.
I think that the update procedure does a crc check of all the files it's going to update, and if they don't match what it is expecting, it fails.
You might have deleted something needed for asus syncing.
In order to manually update, you need to put the update on a microsd, anyways, so you can just copy the files from a pc that has a microsd/sd slot.

You also need to be very clear in your questions what you're referring to
SDCARD - is the internal memory of the transformer. You definately shouldn't delete an /ASUS folder from there.
microSD - is the microSD card you can put into the tablet. This is where you need to put an update file to manually update your transformer.
external SD card - is the full size sdcard in the keyboard. This can't be used for recovery, as the recovery software doesn't see this card.

I put the zip file in the root of external sd and still get the exclamation when I attempt to update. At this point I may restore. Quick question though, does performing a restore from setting bring back the tf to original state?
Actually, I have exactly the same problem. I didn't do anything e.g. I certainly did NOT delete any files of folders labeled asus on my device. And it just stopped working for me. My cable is totally ok so it does charge my Transofmer. Trying to wipe it now to see if it does any help.
Wipe did nothing at all. Still the same. Actually, when I boot into Windows and try to connect my pad to it, it says that there is an unknown device detected, but when I try to install asus drivers, nothing happens, it just doesn't work.
Previously I was using cm9, after that I upgraded to cm10. I wiped data, wiped cache in cwm recovery.
After that, I tried xfering some files over to my tab, it looked like this
i. imgur.com/T3LAU.png
From this picture, it can be seen that my internal memory has files and is not empty
yet when I enter the folder
i. imgur.com/Mn7lR.png
Completely empty, cant be seen.
Even after trying to copy and paste files in, only the new files appear, can no longer find my old files.
Can anybody help me? same thing for the SD card. SD card only detected when I removed and plugged in with external usb card reader to my pc.
(I can't post images yet, hopefully someone with >10 posts can hotlink it for me).
Really urgent because I have to use it for my lecture notes in school.
If you want a workaround on this issue, you can use a cloud storage app. For example, dropbox (go to my signature and click the dropbox logo) can allow you to transfer files without even plugging your Xoom into your computer
Managed to solve the issue by doing a complete memory wipe on my internal hard disk but backing up important files before hand w dropbox as the files are still accessible with astro.
No idea how this happened though.
It's called MTP. Hahahaha in other words windows sucks.
Really what happens is the file list directory isn't updated so it doesn't show up on explorer. I don't even use explorer, I just use ADB push or pull.
Hello people.
I need help. After i install a customzied ROM (first time ^^) I noticed that my phone have full storage like you seen on attach file.
So i installed Root Explorer but all folders have normal size. I thinks there are older files but I cant see that.
If I plug in phone to pc only show recents files.
Hello,
Bevore I start: Please excuse the bad english.
A while ago I rooted my Huawei Mate 8 (Android 7, Emui 5) and installed root.
After a few months I tried to factory reset the phone. But instead of factory resetting I deleted the complete system.
After this I tried to recover the system (twrp) but I didn't manage it. Then i tried to recover via Huawei and it said that I unlocked the bootloader/installed root and they can't recover.
After that I was so "smart". I uninstalled root and relocked the bootloader.
Do I have any chance to recocover the system or do I have to throw it away?
Thank you in advance:

Hi there, do you know which brand is your device? Is it Chinese version, or international version? Trust me, my device was bricked multiple times, and I was always able to recover it.
Share the info I asked for and I might be able to give you some tips on how to recover it.

Hi,
I have the international version of the mate 8. (NXT-L29C432B582; FRP Lock; Bootloader relocked)
Thank you for dealing with my problem.
Got almost same problem. I've got C432B581 version.
I got nothing but TWRP now.
Can you tell me how to install clean system version step by step?
All right, both of you can use the below method, if done correctly, you should be up and running in a short time.
Read, and follow the instructions carefully. The operation consists in downgrading and rolling back your OS to Android 6. Do not worry, once rolled back to 6, your device will still get prompts to update and you can upgrade to Nougat if you want.
First thing first: open this pdf link which includes the instructions: https://bit.ly/2KYAEhS
Second: download the rolling pkg NXT-L29_from Android 7.0_EMUI 5.0_to Android 6.0_EMUI 4.0_C900B500: https://bit.ly/2GUtI2X
Third: Download NXT-L29C432B192 version here: https://bit.ly/2JcxJ8a
Now, I am sure you are unable to mount and access the Micro SD card by plugging the phone on your computer. So your alternative would be either to mount the SD card directly in your computer if your computer has a Micro SD slot, or use another cell phone that can be mounted, insert the micro SD card in order to transfer the first file.
Mount the Micro SD card and look in the rood of the SD card for ''dload'' folder without quotes, if you are unable to find the folder, simply create one
The 2 files are in zip format so you have to unzip them. Start with the first file, the rolling pkg. Extract ''update. app'' to your computer first and then move it under the ''dload'' folder in your Micro SD card.
Now the fun part can start and hopefully your phone will revive from the dead
With the phone powered off Press and hold simultaneously the power button, and volume up and down buttons, this will force the phone to enter in update mode. You can let go off the buttons once the update start.
These instructions and a couple of other ones are in pdf file. Read and follow carefully and you should be good to go.
Good luck!

The system was successfully installed but it still starts in huawei's recovery.
You should do factory reset.
I cant mount /cust... Everything is working (like twrp, data etc), but not cust... and even if i flash downgrade package or normal rom i still got errors at 20 % or something like that. Just red "!"
It worked. Thank you so much!

So its the same story like I got now
Guys, once you install the rollback package, you still have to move the ''update.app'' file you extracted from the second file, put it into the ''dload'' folder and perform a force update again
I cant install rollback. Error at 24%

Hi.
for unlocking the bootloader, you must check "OEM unlocking" in developer option.
check it and try again.

Good morning
I have a Huawei P30 Lite New edition phone (Emui 12), my phone has restart problems and only stalls on the Huawei logo, after 5 to 8 loop starts it ends up restarting, I enter my password lock and it shows me the emergency backup mode where I only have 4 options, namely:
- Backup
- Reset
- Restart
- shutdown
at this stage if i can connect the phone via my usd cable to my computer and access the internal storage.
The cause of the looped start in my opinion is the lack of space because when I watch on the computer I have 300MB of space available.
Now when I try to delete the files from my computer it deletes well and after checking the available space I have at least 25 GB Free.
Now as soon as I restart the phone, it's as if I didn't delete anything and I always see the 300 MB of available space displayed as if the restore files have been restored.
What should I do to be able to delete the files from my computer so that it can start normally.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
Sincerely
How was it posible to delete files on boot-looping phone if you can't connect phone with PC via USB cable?
