My TF used to be able to connect to my PC and my Mac so I could do file copies and transfers. A few days ago I was running low on space and deleted some old music and movies and stuff that was in the ASUS folder. Now I can connect to any PC or mac. I thought maybe I deleted something so I decided to update the rom with the official file from asus but I copied the file to the root of sdcard and the root of external sdcard and booted into recovery but get an exclamation mark on the andoid guy.
1. Why wont this damn thing connect to my computers NOW when it did before? Did I delete something on the TF that would allow this? I downloaded all the usb drivers and sync SW from asus for the PC and Mac but no go.
2. How the hell to I restore the rom from the update file?
I am not rooted and run completely on stock.
Really? No one knows if there are files on the TF that controls computer connecting?
How are tou trying to connect to your pc? Regularly, as if you were going to sync? If your tf is not booting, you can't connect in this mode.

I would normally just connect the tablet to my computers via the usb cable. On my mac I would run the android file utility and it would mount. On the PC I would run the asus synch sw. But now none of these work. I connect to the pc and if the tf is in sleep mode it would wake but I get no prompt on the tab to run pc synch and if i run the sw on the pc it says no device detected. on the mac I run the android file utility and it says no device connected. The cable does not look busted and it still charges the tab. I dont know what was in the asus folder on the tablet when I deleted it but I am thinking there must have been something there that would run.
I am trying to update the tf with the firmware file I d/led from asus's website but I dont know where to put the file. I put it in the root of sdcard and in the root of external sdcard and booted into recovery but just get the android guy with excalamtion.
If I let it boot up normally it works fine, just wont mount.
I don't think you'll be able to update if you went in and randomly deleted a directory. Especially if it was labelled ASUS.
I think that the update procedure does a crc check of all the files it's going to update, and if they don't match what it is expecting, it fails.
You might have deleted something needed for asus syncing.
In order to manually update, you need to put the update on a microsd, anyways, so you can just copy the files from a pc that has a microsd/sd slot.
---------- Post added at 03:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
You also need to be very clear in your questions what you're referring to
SDCARD - is the internal memory of the transformer. You definately shouldn't delete an /ASUS folder from there.
microSD - is the microSD card you can put into the tablet. This is where you need to put an update file to manually update your transformer.
external SD card - is the full size sdcard in the keyboard. This can't be used for recovery, as the recovery software doesn't see this card.

I put the zip file in the root of external sd and still get the exclamation when I attempt to update. At this point I may restore. Quick question though, does performing a restore from setting bring back the tf to original state?
Actually, I have exactly the same problem. I didn't do anything e.g. I certainly did NOT delete any files of folders labeled asus on my device. And it just stopped working for me. My cable is totally ok so it does charge my Transofmer. Trying to wipe it now to see if it does any help.
Wipe did nothing at all. Still the same. Actually, when I boot into Windows and try to connect my pad to it, it says that there is an unknown device detected, but when I try to install asus drivers, nothing happens, it just doesn't work.

Stock update.zip needed!!
or, does those mod update.zip helps too ?
I've had trouble connecting this SGS4G to my PC.
I got it used, the previous owner fomated the SD card.
Is there any files comes with the stock SD card that affects the connection?
I tried hard and soft reset, still the PC said can't recognize it.
I even hand pick the USB driver in update driver option.
It says "Device cannot start (code 10)" something like that
Any advise will be appreicated!
Look for drivers only maybe different bit than your pc
Try just the sd.card in your.computer

One thing you might try, if you haven't yet is a different (original) usb cable. I had this problem and realized I was using a moto usb cable. Just a thought.

+2 I had this issue before.
Thankyou for all the answers, I've used 3 different drivers, 1 from Kies, 1 from that Noob root guide, and one from somewhere i forgot.
I also used 3 different micro usb cable, HTC, MOTO, and samsung.
I went to Tmobile, plug in one of their sgs4g in my laptop, works perfectly, so not my laptop and not my cable.
Then i tested, my phone is not rooted yet with root checker, when I install superuser, it gave me an error msg saying that su binary file has a problem, It disappear before i write it down. and it said it copied that su binary on my sd card and tell me to reboot into recovery mode and install it.
I dont know how, and i guess that means a hard reset? I used that vol up+down and power buttom. Then I clicked reinstall packages, big discovery!
I found out that "E;/fail to open.mnt/internal_d/update.zip(No such file or direstory)
Man.... somehow that update.zip isn't there!!!
Anyone could point me to a place to download it? or simple upload me or send one to me email [email protected]
Again thank you for all the comments!

Have you installed the driver's from Samsung yet?
Additionally, when you plug the USB cord in, what happens on your phone? Do icon's show up, up top? Nothing happens?
Have you tried to go into Settings>Applications>Development and made sure USB Debugging is on?
Now if you have tried a standard SGS4G from the TMO Store on your laptop and it worked, you might have gotten a bad deal buying that one used. Something might be jacked up on it.
Additionally, if it's unmodified which it sounds like it is,
Just go to Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset.
That will put you back to the original state.

No icon show up.
Something is missing from the phone, i did the factory reset both soft and reinstall package in Recovery/ delete all user data, still no help.
When i use root checker, it tells me there is no su binary in system/bin
Superuser created one for me to the SD card, but es file explorer wont copy it into system/bin for me, and in recovery mode, it just say no update.zip exist in internal SD

I'm not sure what would have been deleted off the phone to prevent the USB from working on your computer. Either way, you're kinda out of luck if it won't even connect to the computer.
Only other solution would be to download the stock ROM in the form of update.zip from your phones web browser, save to SD, then reboot into recovery and choose the second option.
The reason why update.zip is missing is because you haven't put it on your SD card. You typically download any zipped ROM, rename it to update.zip and then put it in the root of your SD.
Since you can't connect to the computer you'd have to download from a browser.

Very usefull Info!!
I'm downloading that Stock DEODEXED KC1 now. But it's in Mc5
So, i just zip it right?
Luckily I could still take the sd card out and use a card reader to load stuff on it.
Mainly i want the connection to the pc for rooting.
Moreover, the Root checker says i already have Busybox installed, does it mean, the previous owner might have tried to or did rooted, but unroot it ?
That one doesnt work, so I tried another one which it states its completely stock (T959VUVKC1-REV00-ALL-low-CL933594.tar)
But still both turns out "E: signature verification failed"
any idea?
Hey all,
I stumbled into an issue a few days ago and I'm trying to figure out how to get it resolved with minimum headache.
I downloaded the latest CyanogenMod download from h8rift's get.cm website, but unfortunately I didn't notice that it was CM9 rather than CM10 until I had flashed it and the boot animation popped up.
I didn't have a CM10 zip saved to my SD card partition, and TWRP, for some reason, would not mount to USB on either my Mac or my PC. The phone wouldn't boot into CM9, so I couldn't download the zip from there either.
So, I hit 'factory reset'.. twice, both from the bootloader, and from TWRP. Well, no luck. Now the file browser in TWRP doesn't even show my SD card's contents, just the TWRP folder. Every time I see a command line in TWRP, it tells me the SD card couldn't be mounted.
So, crap. Are all my files gone? I didn't realize factory resetting wipes the phone. I have all my photos on the SD card partition as well as a somewhat recent Titanium backup, so I'd really, really, really not like to lose those.
I understand that running a RUU will probably fix my issue, but the thing is, on the off chance that my SD card contents are still around, I'd like to be able to keep them. Will running a RUU wipe the SD card, if it still is in there somewhere? Are there any other suggestions re: getting the phone to boot, or be recognized as a USB disk? Also, if I do end up RUUing, I assume I have to unlock the bootloader again. Sigh, that was a hassle the first time.
tl;dr I'm complaining about a lot of stuff that I'll probably have to do anyways because I did something stupid and wasn't smart enough to keep backups, but if anyone wants to give pointers that'll make this process easier I will kiss your shoes and worship you forever.
Thanks.

So I just managed to boot into CyanogenMod 9, without actually doing anything.
So it boots but can't mount the SD card. I have no idea either. Any way to mount the SD card without relocking bootloader?
Have you tried to access your sd card with a file manager app like solid explorer to see if anything is still on the card?
Sent from my Nocturnalized One XL using Forum Runner
Factory reset from the bootloader appears to wipe the sdcard and leave it in an unformatted state. I did this yesterday and fixed it by letting the phone boot back into the sense rom I was running.
Not quite sure what you can do in CM9. Have you tried connecting to your computer and seeing if windows detects a valid drive? If it doesn't maybe let windows format it, yeah I don't like this idea either, so you can at last get some files on it.
I had a similar problem after flashing a nocturnal update...
Here's what I did to resolve:
Wipe all - SD card, factory reset (all can be done inside TWRP)...then plug your phone into your computer via usb and on your phone in TWRP main screen, navigate to Mount and select USB storage. It WILL show up on your computer as unformatted - just reformat (which will wipe it again) and then let you copy files in. Just download the latest CM10 (which is working great) and flash away...
I am using a Mac computer running win xp via parallels and it worked great - I don't remember what file structure to format the SD card as, but it was the default when it brought up the format dialogue...
Hope that helps!

If you cannot turn developer mode on and use ADB push, then, you should be able to in CWM.
Failing that, does Google Play work?
If so, install (from your PC via Google Play page) WiFi File Transfer Pro, fire up an FTP session and push the needed GApps over.
And if all else fails...
ODIN back to stock.
I really don't get it
Can you explain this in detail?

Sure thing.
ADB is the debug program for Android. You can use it specifically to push files to the device. But it is not turned on on the device by default. You will need to go into developer options under settings and turn USB debugging on (if Developer Options is not there, go into About Phone and tap Build Number 7 or 8 times tom unlock the feature).
For this to work, you will need a linux PC with an ADB binary (if using Debian/Ubuntu, can "apt-get install adb", then run adb as superuser or sudo) or a windows computer with adbsetup installed. The latter will install the program to C:\adb. So open a command prompt and (with the device plugged in and developer options turned on) type:
Code:
c:
cd \adb
adb devices
You should get a listing of your device, raring to go. If so, great! Copy the the appropriate Gapps package to C:\ADB and type:
Code:
adb push gapps-4.2.zip gapps-4.2.zip
...or whatever the filename is called (there twice as it needs the local and remote file name).
So if that works, can reboot into recovery (CWM) via the three finger salute (turn device off fully, wait a few seconds, hold down both volume buttons while pressing the power button), wipe dalvik cache, and flash the right GApps.
Another option is if you can add Google Play apps to your device. Don't imagine, but if it is possible, fire up your computer and log into your Google Play account. Search for "WiFi File Transfer Pro" and install. With a Wifi connection on the device, it should download and install. If it doesn't, try the scorched earth option below. If it does install, open Wifi File Transfer Pro, turn on FTP server, and keep note of the IP address and Port (Will be noted as IPort). Open or install an FTP client like FileZilla on your PC, and open a connection using that IP address and Port. Transfer the Gapps package over to the device, in the root folder. Then like above, reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik, flash gapps.
The last option, the scorched earth method, is to bring everything back to stock, mind you with root and CWM. Pick option D from the above link (previous post). Download and install adbsetup for the drivers. Option D download will come with a program called ODIN, and that link will have detailed instructions (download and extract the files, open ODIN, put the phone into download mode by turning the device off, hold down both volume buttons while inserting the MicroUSB cable, place the extracted files inthe right sections of ODIN, and flash away).
Hope this helps.
Ok one of my main problems is that I can't use keyboard...which means no internet because I can't type any passwords
And the other big thing is that none of my computers connect toy phone even with USB debugging on from setting and even in recovery
I was wondering if I get a connection with no password will I be update from the phone because there is an option to do so.

Because Google Play is part of Gapps, there is no guarantee that will work either to update. If you can find an unsecured network (or temporarily turn off WPA on your router), you can test this, but at this point, I would be doing the scorched earth method. You would only be going back to Gingerbread, and however you play your cards (whether you disable lagfix or flash ICS as an intermediary), you would only be one or two flashes away from a functional Jellybean.
Ok my phone doesnt connect with usb ive tried several different times.
I did the adb method everything was fine except i didnt get the device list ,it was empty.
So if it cant connect how will i connect it to my computer to use odin?

True enough. Lets try this (as I just thought about it via some other weird, more convoluted way). CM 10.1 comes with a file manager right? Download the 4.2 Gapps onto your mcroSD card, insert it into your device. Fire up the file manager. Copy the Gapps file from the external SD card to the internal card, root folder (where the offending Gapps lies). Reboot into ClockworkMod and wipe Dalvik and install the appropriate zip.
If this does not work, my more convoluted way wouldn't either (search and download "wifi file transfer pro apk" to SD, open with file manager, install, follow the rest of above option 2), and would be out of options except getting your hardware fixed (as it sounds like your device not connecting via USB is a hardware issue).
Ive tried with micro sd before and it hasnt worked
The thing is that All of this stopped working after the update and the thing that i disliked the most was that when i was getting the update it said jb 4.2 gapps but proved wrong

You tried mounting the microSD with the proper Gapps, and copying it with CM's File Manager (to the internal disk to be picked up by CWM later)? Just being clear, and making sure you are not talking about trying to install a zip directly from the MicroSD with CWM (as mentioned, and ruled out before). Because these are two completely different things. Is the MicroSD readable at all on your device? Is it formatted properly (FAT32, or even Ext2/3/4, but not NTFS)?
Can you explain the formatting stuff?
charminster said:

Sure. Insert the microSD into your computer, and open up Windows Explorer. There will be a new drive that appears. Right click on that removable drive, and select Properties. Confirm the File System. If it is FAT32, you are okay. If it is NTFS, or exFAT, you will need to format (as the Infuse will not recognize these formats). Press Cancel.
Before beginning, make a backup of the MicroSD card, as we are going to wipe and start from scratch. Then, right click on the removable drive again (and only this drive, or you will cause damage to your computer) and select Format. Change the file system to FAT32. If this is not an option, find and download a disk utility that will (I'm not familiar with them, but google "removable storage format fat32 download" for one). Press start, and wait a few minutes. When done, you can reload your files on the drive (restore your backup), and try inserting it in your Infuse again.
Hope this helps.

Probably not, IIRC external SD did not work in CWM for the Infuse. But re-read post #10, what I'm suggesting is getting CWM to read the proper Gapps from the internal card, but placing it there with CyanogenMod's file manager.

Sorry, I misread your previous post. Thanks for the clarification. What are the details on the microSD card? Make, model, speed, capacity? If it is a 64+ GB card, it would spell problems as the Infuse was never rated for a capacity that large.
It's a sandisk 16 gb
Sd card
Fat32
No reason why the microSD won't work in the Infuse.
If you have a Bluetooth keyboard you can borrow - or try buying (not sure if it will connect) - but if you can get your hands on one, you could use that (never had to use one so I don't know how they connect) to download the right GApps package to your phone (via the built-in browser).
I'm curious as well, if the speech-to-text works. You could use google now search to find the gapps package ("okay google, xda developers") and browse to the right page. Of course you will need a unsecured network to attempt.
Other than that, unfortunately I'm out of ideas.
Hey guys,
I want to repair the i9003 for a friend and I'm a little bit confused o.0
I own a i9001 so I'm familiar with Odin and that stuff.
He gave me the device which only had access to the Download Mode. So I flashed a Stock ROM (MODEM, CODE, CSC, ...). It ended in bootloop and previous appeared note in recovery that it wasn't able a access to the sd card anyway ("unable to write to ums lunfile" and can't mount).
I flashed various Stock ROMs but everytime the same conclusion (bootloop). I've already tried to format/(un)mount sdcard through CWM but no chance.
Can anyone help? I read about a method where you have to open the device and connect something to the mainboard but it isn't my device, so I wouldn't do it.

if phone is rooted go this dir mnt/sdcard/(files)
u can do this with wondershare mobile go program (wondershare mobile go is a software that allow u to manage phone file edit or install app or read massage that nice):cyclops:
so.. mnt/sdcard(files) .export those files with wondershare mobile go from that toolbar .
see can u do this or u will get error during export(beware after export import it and make backup) ?or check it maybe these files are deleted and sdcard folder is empty like my problem.
all my regret is why i didnt backup from that.when i bought it first day.
anyway i have same problem .phone doesnt recognize int/ex sd card and unavailable keep goin thread to find .wont fix with flash by odin at all .
tell me about those files try find them maybe they are corrupted .like mine.i think must take it from other i9003 that hasn't sd card problem.when u find plz upload cuz i need too
and it this case problem will fix with a simple copy paste and if not u dont lose nothin
I can't do that. When I type "diskpart" in cmd.exe and "list disk" there will be no device found (only the hard drive in the computer).
But the PC recognize a device connected to it because in the taskbar the icon for a connected USB drive is shown.
In short:
- device doesn't boot normally (bootloop at logo)
- in stock recovery and CWM there is no internal sdcard shown ("E: can't mount sdcard")
- windows recognize a device but has no access to it
Is it possible to use adb sideload anyway on the i9003 or anything else where I can use adb.exe? I don't know if adb works in Download Mode ... does it?
I tried this CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056 and an another one with green letters.
The first is quite outdated (packed in 31.01.2012).
Is there a newer one?
Here are photos what the Recovery (stock) says after Odin flash (stock firmare)

this problem occurred when i used 16 gb toshiba as ex sd card (doesnt matter brand) after flash sd card and format it by pc that said ex sd remove unexpecteldy and turned off and whole battery charge was over. then i changed ex sd with my other phone and it work with no problem and when i replaced again 16 gb toshiba in phone ,again problem.
but after i format internal storage by phone from setting/phone storage . phone couldnt mount int sd till now.
so i inserted new ex sd and flashed whole rom with odin (MODEM, CODE, CSC, ...) phone started but without int storage i found out sd card directory is different and wont fix with flash STOCK ROM .but i doubt it for Custom ROM.
then i took ex sd card out from phone and turn it on again phone didnt boot up and was hang on samsung logo (same problem with 16 gb toshiba).then put that new ex sd card in and phone was boot up with no problem but int storage didnt come back..
so try with new ex sd and try flash rom (MODEM, CODE, CSC, ...) with odin then it will boot up.

I can't do that. When I type "diskpart" in cmd.exe and "list disk" there will be no device found (only the hard drive in the computer).
But the PC recognize a device connected to it because in the taskbar the icon for a connected USB drive is shown.
In short:
- in stock recovery and CWM there is no internal sdcard shown ("E: can't mount sdcard")
- windows recognize a device but has no access to it
Is there a newer one?

and if ur int sd card come back again it will solve E:cant mount sdcard .first do two prior steps . for bring back internal sd again i think we need >>mnt/sdcard/(files) and copy paste those files in that location from other i9003 phone to our devices IMO cuz i tried many method they are useless. upper 60% im sure those files will revive int sd
I already solved it by destroying the internal memory on board and force install the stock ROM on an external sdcard. I successfully installed CM11 and it works except camera and downloads ^^
hi, have anyone found solution on this issue?
i am also facing same issue....

Hi Friend,
I have the same problem. flashing Stock, Kernel , custom rom. Nothing make my phone successfully boot up.
Can you help me how exactly you did this. It might give a life for my friends phone too...
Remove or replace microSDCard.
Perform a clean flash with ddlf2 or original firmware.
And let us know how it went.
Also i see people saying this mistake several times...
Internal SDCard or SDCard stands for phone storage.
Emmc/External Storage/ External SDCard Stands for the microSDCard.
Noting that custom roms usually change the names.
With a custom rom the microSDCard is called emmc inside the system.
Please press "Thank" button if it helped you.

I got a Xoom for free a couple days ago, I decided I wanted to put KitKat on it, I didn't really like how 4.1 looked. I installed ClockworkMod Recovery on it to, but I can't push any files to it using 'adb push 'filename'', this is because adb does not recognize my device. I believe this is because there is no driver installed. In Device Manager it shows up as "Xoom" in the "Other Devices" dropdown. I've downloaded and installed the drivers previously from this link (can't post links because I'm new, the name of the program is Motorola Device Manager ), but while in recovery, they don't seem to work. When I try to run the driver installer while in recovery, it does not install any drivers, and Windows cannot find any drivers. So, any suggestions?
Edit: I booted back to the factory OS and tried installing the driver there through Motorola Device Manager, but it says to switch the device into "Media Device" mode (MTP), which it is already in.

Are you using the correct cable? Have you tried using another USB port?
I'm assuming you have a memory card. So if you had a custom recovery already installed why not pull the SD card out of the xoom and move the files required for custom os onto that directly from computer.

I don't have the factory cable, I believe I have already tried two separate cables though. I have tried front and back USB ports on my PC. I've been trying to do it without a micro SD card, as the only one I have is in my phone. I assume if I use that it would mess up the formatting on my phone though?

No. If you have recovery already loaded, then place the rom of choice on the card insert in xoom and install from SD card. No formatting required on card.

I was worried about my SD card, which is in my phone, getting messed up and not work properly with my phone. I'll probably go ahead and try it and not worry about my phone. I'll let you know how it goes.

Copy all files to computer from SD card to be safe. Then if you do lose something. No worries![emoji16]
