Bricked so hard MSM can't even fix it - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

I got a hold of a T-Mobile Oneplus 8 5G, got my unlock token, and all I wanted was to flash the global ROM. Every ROM I try just tells me it's not allowed to flash critical partitions, the original filesystem is totally clobbered, and even my backup is useless as I can't flash it either.
I also don't know if it even unlocked properly. If I try to unlock flashing, it says "Already Unlocked!" But if I try to lock it, it says "Flash unlock token first!"
Even MSMTool is completely lost, won't even enumerate the device, I've been on this for weeks and I need a hand. I really would like to get this finally working... So much for just getting rid of the T-Mobile bloat. Much thanks for your time, and I hope this is the right forum to post in! bless

Can't unlock the bootloader nor start the phone

Hello,
I messed with my Pixel phone and now I feel it bricked. It was working fine until I update it to 8.0 Oreo. Then I rooted it using magisk.
Later, I decided to re-lock my bootloader, which was really a big mistake. I did re-lock it using the following command:
fastboot oem lock
It showed me if I lock my bootloader, it would wipe everything. I hit yes.
After that, this issue started, my phone won't start, as soon as the google logo shows up, it restarts and does the same thing everytime.
I tried to install the factory image, "sailfish" for Pixel 8.1.0, using the following command:
flash-all
it gave me an error message. It said I need to unlock the bootloader.
Of course, I tried to unlock the bootloader using the following command:
fastboot flashing unlock
It also gave me an error message, it said:
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
I don't know what else should I do. I tried to find a solution for my problem, but there is no clear answer.
One of the common solution is to enable the USB debugging/OEM unlocking from the developer settings. But, again, I can't even turn on my phone and use it normally.
The only thing that I can access to is the bootloader screen.
There are several threads which state "hey don't try relocking your bootloader for any reason" for a reason. You CANNOT relock these phones with ANY custom firmware or modifications. Your phone is bricked. You can try talking to Google and they /may/ rma your phone but there is 0 guarantee especially given that you did something that is a known feature and is intended to brick the phone. Can't hurt to try though

Need help - "The system has been destroyed"

So today i decided to downgrade from V10.2.1.0.PEEMIXM to V10.0.11.0.PEEMIFH because i was having serious battery issues on V10.2.1.0.
I should have looked into it more carefully but nope, my dumb ass decided to install the older ROM version via the Updater in Settings and it bricked my device in the process.
Now my device is stuck on boot with the message "The system has been destroyed. Press power button to shutdown".
I have the global version with the bootloader locked. The only thing i have access to now is fastboot.
Any ways i can recover from this? Any help is greatlyyy appreciated.
You can try to unlock bootloader with fastboot mode, but i'm not sure that works because the system has been destroyed and your account has been destryed too. I think, the best for you, is to send it in warranty for repair. I have bricked a Redmi Note 4 like that and even with the test point method, he has never work again.

If you can find the fastboot version of the ROM you were on before downgrading just flash it with miflash

Fortunately for me i was able to unlock the bootloader. Likely because i registered my device since i first got it (about 1 month now), so i think i must have met the wait time requirement and it was fine that i couldn't access the system.

I tried miflash the first time with my bootloader still locked but miflash refused to work with a locked bootloader.
So i tried again with my bootlocker unlocked and it worked as expected.
Lesson learnt. All is well again and i'm able to keep my bootloader locked with the "flash_all_lock" option.
Thank you so much for all the help!

I am very sorry for reviving this thread, but if it's possible, can I ask you how you had managed to unlock the bootloader through fastboot? Now I am facing a similar situation to the one you once did, where my phone is stuck with the error message "The system has been destroyed" with a locked bootloader, and the only thing I have access to is Fastboot. I will greatly appreciate it if you could take some time to help me out because I have tried looking everywhere on xda forums and yours seems like the only one that is very similar to what I am currently facing now. Thanks so much.

Unless you have got unlock permission and linked phone to account you can't unlock.
Unlock like how you would normally - put the phone into fastboot, connect it to your PC, and run the mi unlock tool. For this to work, hopefully you have associated your device to a mi account and have met the unlock requirements ie. surpassed the waiting period. Otherwise you're out of luck as there is no other ways (that i know of) to register the device now as you can't get into the system.
As a last resort you can try opening up the back of the phone and flash new firmware using the test point if unlocking is not possible. I'm not sure how or where the testing point is located exactly, but it's a possible solution that i found while researching when my device was bricked. Good luck!

Is there any way to install OTAs with an unlocked bootloader / root?

Sorry for making another thread so soon, but I've got new issues now. TL;DR, I'm just trying to get my Moto G7 Power to detect my sim card at *all* anymore. I've been told that installing an OTA will make the phone detect the sim card again, but... I can't re-lock my bootloader.
I've spent pretty much all day looking for ways to re-lock it, but not a single one has worked. I always get the same "Still waiting for signed boot.img" message, even when I try fixes that worked for others. At this point, I give up on trying to re-lock. I just rooted using a guide here and connected to WiFi.
The next best thing would be for me to find another way to install OTAs. I've heard Magisk used to be able to hide your bootloader status and let you do that, but can't anymore, so...
1. Is there a way for me to install official android updates manually? If so, how?
2. If there is, *where* do I find the updates?

You can install OTAs with unlocked bootloader, but you'll need to unroot your device first
Sorry for being 2 weeks late, but you look like you're in the exact same position I once was. Flashing an official update for my channel, available at https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ocean/official/ was what solved it for me, for whatever reason. (my SIM also wasn't recognized at all, nor did I have any IMEIs outside of bootloader. Also, the option to enable OEM unlocking never became available to me, despite instantly being available when I solved it)
We're technically able to install OTAs with unlocked bootloaders? But for some reason mine throws up an error at step 3/6 every time, so I'm dependant on Lolinet to install them.
On relocking bootloader, you had to re-flash boot.img, run the command 3 times, re-flash and run the command again or something, I was also going to try that on one of my threads, but since I couldn't enable OEM unlocking.

Every OTA zip first verifies your entire system by checksums. Is there any modified partition the verifier fails and the update process ends with an error.

As title suggests, I am trying to convert from the T-Mobile software to Global or EU. Have already read the threads claiming you can just flash the firmware that you want and everything will work fine as long as you also flash the T-Mobile carrier, modem, modemst1, and modemst2 images. However, there is no local upgrade option in settings, so I decided to go the manual route by downloading full zip, using payload dumper and flashing all required partitions, including the T-Mobile modem partitions and whatnot. Well, in terminal when trying to flash certain ones, I get the error:
FAILED (remote: 'Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions
')
fastboot: error: Command failed
So I basically just reboot, nothing seems changed and I still have a working phone. What gives? I'm coming from the OnePlus 7 Pro and although had my ups and downs (generally forgetting a step or making small mistakes) it was a fairly easy experience and I could usually just retrace my steps or do some research on forums and figure it out. This time I have looked through so many forums here and on other sites but I can't figure out what's going on.
Details:
Phone is fully functional as of right now
Running 11.2.2.2 (T-Mobile) attempting to convert to 11.2.4.4 (EU)
Had mobbdeep network unlock for me, then requested unlock token from OnePlus, flashed unlock_code.bin, unlocked Bootloader
Successfully rooted with Magisk, although failed SafetyNet so installed latest canary build and everything is working flawlessly now
Can't local upgrade, can't flash via Fastboot, no TWRP available for this device, is there anything that I am missing? or another way that I can flash full update or partitions?
I know I may seem impatient, but I've seen so many others say they already converted to global, and it's working after flashing necessary modem and carrier partitions. Just wondering EXACTLY how they were able to do it, when I followed exact steps from these threads and I've done this sort of thing so many times in the past it is downright frustrating at this point. I've also contacted OnePlus to see if there is an MSM tool available for this device and they sort of made it seem that there was and said my concern will be escalated and I will get a response via email within 24 hours (fingers crossed).
My next steps will be to re-lock the bootloader and start from scratch. After that, I guess my only recourse is to wait for TWRP or MSM tool and official guide for converting to global ROM. Thanks in advance for any and all clarifications.
Side Note: Already tried fastboot flashing unlock_critical command and similar ones, always returns message saying already unlocked. And the conversion guide I was following was from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tmo-eu-global-the-way-i-did-it.4264883/
Certain partitions need to be flashed from the bootloader fastboot, not fastbootd.
Either way, there is no going back to the T-Mobile firmware as there's no unbrick tool yet.
Don't do this.

Yes, I am very aware of that. The issue is I have the T-Mobile version because I got if 1/2 off with a trade in. Will this warrant a trade after I pay it off? Maybe. But I would rather just put on Lineage OS if that becomes possible.

Ya, I don't know what this things deal is. But as soon as I get the ability to flash to international I'm doing it.
Where is the guide for flashing a OnePlus 9 from T-Mobile to International?
Btw for everyone following this thread, its an easy to miss step, but if you follow the guides for converting, all you have to do is go into fastboot and then use command “fastboot reboot fastboot”. This apparently puts you in fastbootd (never had to use this before, I would just use commands and flash stuff from bootloader screen but whatever) where you can then flash the needed partitions. Also, no hate to the guy who posted the recent conversion thread but it is super unorganized and a little too easy to miss that step, as well as MAKE SURE you read through the .bat file they provided because it is NOT correct. They have some typos in there so it wasn’t working for me at first. It’s a pain in the ass but I highly recommend going through each command, copy/paste, and read it to make sure there’s no typos then hit enter or you will run into errors like I did. Good luck

Question OnePlus unlock token page blank

Greetings, so I recently upgraded my phone to oxygenos12 and it came with a lot of glitches and I hate it. Try to flash back oxygen11 and realised the bootloader is locked. So I tried downloading back the unlock token for the phone from my email and the oneplus token page keeps coming up blank with no token download. I saw you have to be logged in to download it and I did the same and I get the same blank page. what's really going on here? I really need oxygen11 back since this 12 here isn't supporting my two sim cards and my cellular data isn't working!!!!
OnePlus page must be down. I’ve been trying to get on there for the last 12 hours.
I have been trying this too,, it's coming blank.. like what's happening here I just get my new phone which is t mobile varient
Website is still down for me. I contacted OnePlus and they went on the routine of trying to make me fill out for another unlocking token and telling me it’s 7 days blah blah blah. They weren’t getting the fact that their website is broken. Finally after 30 different screen shots and copied links they finally understood. Hopefully the IT team can get the page back up asap
Still blank for me. Just my luck... I've been putting off rooting my oneplus 6t for so many years and finally decided to do it...

this is inncorrect for the TMOBILE variant. FOR TMOBILE ONLY.... the oem unlock option is only so you can retrieve the unlock code. once you receive the token you will be able to flash it and fully unlock the phone.

I still haven't been able to get on the site. It's still broken here for me. I talked to chat support multiple times and it takes some convincing that the site is actually broken. Then I send them links and screenshots and they say they will send it over to IT.. but is been almost a week and nothing has been fixed... I asked them it they could send me my unlock token file in a email and no response lol
This is my first experience with one plus and it's not so good the phone is good but the tech support sucks nobody seems to know anything about why the page is broken or when it will be fixed or for that matter any way to deal with this token crap.
Looks like OnePlus doesn’t give a ****.this is ridiculous
I just got done with chat support was able to drag some info out apparently the support department has only received a communication from the team handling the token page issue with please give more time. I have a feeling that they have no idea what's going on and have a complete communication breakdown so who knows how long this is gonna take. I only received the generic answer of please give another 24hrs for a response "I won't hold my breath" in the meantime dose anyone know a bypass for getting around this token nonsense?

Hi you shouldn't need a token to unlock bootloader for OnePlus devices.
You should also have OEM unlock enabled in developer options.

Wrong!!! The T-Mobile variant requires a unlock token. Only the factory unlocked version does not.

There is no way. I've been looking everywhere and there is nothing that says how to bypass it. If this doesn't get fixed tomorrow, I'm sending phone back and not getting a t-mobile variant ever.

Technically it is the T-Mobile software that's triggering that. If you convert it to global or EU, you don't need it, but you get stuck having to have root to get data working (software thinks the phone is dual SIM and it breaks it). Also, if your device is SIM locked, it's stuck that way unless you flash back to T-Mobile firmware to unlock it.

Well what your saying is not possible because in order to flash firmware, you need to have the bootloader unlocked so NO!!!

Nope, just an MSM Tool that can flash a T-Mobile variant. I don't know if one exists for the 9 but there is one for the 9 Pro that you can use to get to EU software and then use the global 9 downgrade package to get back to proper 9 firmware.
Convert your T-Mobile (LE2127) to EU via MSM, No unlock.bin needed!
*** Use this at your very own risk. *** You will lose all data *** Backup your working modemst1/2 and persist. If you lose these for any reason, it's unique to your device and not recoverable if you didn't back up (via MSM or other people). ***...
