Note 20 Ultra still profitable? did you buy the S21 Ultra - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

WHello colleagues I am thinking of changing my phone I want to buy a note 20 ultra or S21 Ultra I do not know which one to choose on the one hand as a note appeals to me by the SD card reader S21 Ultra Unfortunately there is no Sd reader But it has a newer processor than Note I don't know which one to choose Maybe you can help me

The process speeds will have minimal difference that you'll notice. It's more about how and what you want to use your phone. If you use the SD card, that could be important. The Note 20 Ultra is the last phone to have the MST (magnetic secure transmission) which allows one to use the phone with card readers that do not NFC. It simulates the magnetic swipe. It works pretty well. Obviously, the S21 will have an extra year of updates. The MST isn't talked about much because most people are either using NFC--phone or smartwatch--or the actual cards.
The new chips could be considered since in theory, they should be more power-efficient. Then again, they also have displays with high refresh rates.
Personally, I'm holding off on upgrading. I don't like the removal of the SD card. I want the MST back. The camera and software upgrades are not enough. The Note 20 Ultra does more than I need it to. I wish I had the version with the larger storage. I wish I could transfer more apps to the SD card, but Google screw that when they changed the Andriod structure changed about five or so years ago. It would be nice to bring back the IR blaster, but that was probably very limited in use. The few things the newer phones have is very minimal and not a must-have for me.

[Q] Note 4 & SD card speeds

I have seen a variety of statements regarding the useful speed of SD cards that the Note 4 is capable of, in particular that a card like the Samsung PRO (90MBs) is overkill and the EVO model (48MBs) is good enough (i.e., it's at the max speed that the Note 4 can use). Is the Note 4 limited to about 50MBs on the internal microSD?

I currently have both the Samsung Pro (64GB version) and the EVO (128GB version). I noticed a few things:
The read speed of the Pro is crazy and seems to be not held back by much. I can hit crazy speeds in both Random and Sequential.
I presume the limiting factor is the write speed which I am truely unsure of that.
Do you really need THAT crazy read speeds. Really, I only bought the Pro for its durability of its MLC vs the TLC in the EVO.

I use EVO-equivalent SanDisk cards in a couple of devices and don't see any issues with apps that actually access the cards, either reading or writing - that in my mind is the true test of interest to me, not pure benchmarking results. But I was really curious as to the benefits people were seeing with the faster cards to determine if the price premium was worth it. As to durability, do you think that will make much difference given the relative limited lifetime and read/write cycles that consumers use the cards for?
Its up to you~

Really, I doubt that the speed of the PRO is perfectly utilized in the Note 4 or any phone for that matter. On something like a GoPro 4 Black, then the answer would be yes. EVO in terms of speed is quite fine. Unless if you are running stuff off the SD, I doubt there is much of a difference. There are different scenarios where the faster PRO version would make a difference, so you would have to detail to me what you plan on using it for and in which way. As for durability, SD cards will not last AS long as their SSD counterparts. That being said, MLC will last MANY times long, emphasis on many, then its TLC. If you don't understand the difference let me know becuase it makes no sense for me to say all these things and for you to not understand it. Not only is the speed of read/write in both sequencial and random superior, its life is MASSIVELY greater. Now if you will notice the difference, that again falls to how you use it. I have killed several SanDisk Ultra cards but I like Samsung flash memory (I have their 512GB 840 Pro SSD) as I know they are reliable. But same could be said about SanDisk. Some live by that brand so I'm just on the part of these 2 things:
How do you plan on using the microSD?
What size do you need?
What brand do you like more?

Thanks. I do know the difference between TLC & MLC and like I say, I don't think my usage in a phone (fairly static memory use: storage of videos & music primarily, not much in terms of pictures taken with the camera, I'm not rooting so no apps on it) calls for the need in speed or durability. On the other hand, I do need/use that speed in my GoPro Hero4 so there I spare on cost. Like I said, my question was driven more from a curiosity perspective - why are people springing for the more expensive media for use in a smartphone? And more to the point, can the Note 4 really take advantage of that speed? That last question is one I haven't really seen a documented answer on.
Well, seeing as you state that the type of writes will be the general stuff (ie., photos, music, and videos) without running stuff off of the SD, I can safely say that the EVO should be just fine. While testing on benchmarks, I noticed the Note 4 does get better writes and reads with the PRO so the speed is there. But is it completely utilized, I would be inclined to say "no" on that. For the people who have buckets of money, I guess you could buy it but eh. I presume the reason people buy the more expensive is because they assume the higher cost warrants much higher quality and speeds. However, I'm more concerned with the brand and type of flash storage used more than anything. 4K recording is perfectly fine on the EVO and the difference is speed may or may not be noticeable. I bought both because I wanted the MLC flash and wanted to have one just to have one. Later I decided that I rather have more storage over that crazy read speed. As it is from Samsung, their flash memory is EXTREMELY reliable. I haven't had problems yet with any of my 3 flash storage items (840 Pro, PRO microSD, EVO microSD).
Are you using the Samsung 128GB EVO card, then? I was looking at that one myself and that's what got me looking more closely at the "real-world" differences between the EVO and PRO. I've actually been a user of multitudes of SanDisk cards for many years - many kinds in a variety of devices - and have never had a problem but I may go with Samsung on this one. And thanks for many replies.
I use a SanDisk Ultra 64GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS Memory Card. Haven't had any problems with it.

Ya I have the 128GB EVO in my Note 4 right now. I love it. It encode all my movies through handbrake and find that I use up large amounts of space, aside from the FLAQs that I have stored as well. Really, I really doubt you will notice a massive difference in most cases. Video playback, music indexing, 4K recording, and photography should be just fine with the EVO. 4K at 30FPS is still not enough to warrant, in my opinion, an upgrade to the PRO version. It does help to get the PRO but I truly doubt you will need it for much of anything. Samsung is one of the top manufacturers for flash memory.
In the end, its really up to you. I doubt that you will notice the difference in overall speed, if any, between the two versions. If you do, it will be possibly a couple of seconds or something and nothing atrocious like minutes. I'm glad I could help. I'm always on the forums since I started modding my S3. I was just too lazy to make an account and post stuff.
I noticed the Samsung/Sandisk ones are only 48MB/s read speeds. I found this on Amazon however CoolEStore OV 128GB Class 10 Micro SD CARD SDXC TF HIGH PERFORMANCE Flash Memory Card UHS-1 READ SPEED up to 80MB/s?

Could be risky as it has red flags - significantly lower price coupled with high performance, only 1 review, and a Google search on CoolEStore doesn't turn up much useful info. You're better off sticking with a known brand like SanDisk, Samsung, Lexar. Also, search on Amazon for other products from CoolEStore - a mix of the odd & cheap.

Best Stylus Phone?

This question has been asked here before, but apparently not recently. With the upcoming demise of 3G CDMA on Verizon, it's time for me to start looking for a replacement for my old reliable Samsung Note 3. AFAICT, there are currently a few choices for stylus phones (as of 5/3/20):
Samsung Note 10
Huawei Mate 20 X
Motorola Moto G Stylus
LG Stylo 5
Infinix Note 6
(Did I miss any?)
I'm looking for the one that best matches the features the Note 3 gave me: super bright screen, fast, external SD card, 3.5 mm. audio jack, USB MHA, wireless charging, replaceable battery, and most importantly, it must be reliably rootable and have decent support on XDA.
I figure I won't be able to get all of these, but the stylus and root are a must. I'm willing to ditch Verizon (after 20 years of their BS) if that helps rooting.
Any recommendations?

OK so I guess there's not much interest in stylus phones but for the record this is what I ended up doing. It might be useful to someone.
The Infinix Note 6 had the best overall specs and features but is apparently only available in some third world countries. The Note 10 lacks an audio jack, external SD, and removable battery and it's crazy expensive. The LG Stylo 5 has the same RAM/mem as the Note 3 (3/32) but only an 8x1.8 GHz. processor. All of them have IPS screens, not OLED. In short, none of them had everything I have in the Note 3.
So I ended up getting a super-cheap ($80) Motorola Moto e6 from Consumer Cellular to use just as a phone and I'll keep the Note 3 to use for everything else.
But then I was pleasantly surprised to find that the screen of the e6 is just as bright as the Note 3, it has an audio jack, external SD up to 256 GB, and a removable battery. Its GPS locks in much faster than the Note 3. And the UI feels just as snappy as the Note 3 despite a slower (8x1.4 GHz) processor. So maybe it's good for more than just a phone. Go figure.

So is this the end of the Note series?

I have a 512gb Note 20 ultra and was looking at upgrades and all there is, is the Fold (Not Interested) and the S22? (No memory card slot) so forget it.
Yeah taking out SD support was a serious mistake. You have to wonder about Samsung's logic.
It's funny how their low end phones seem to have more features than the top models.

Considering getting this phone, a few questions with stylus

So I'm looking for a phone that has an external SD card and something good for writing quick notes on the go. Unfortutealy all the newer samsung devices no longer include external SD card. And I haven't found any other phone that does the stylus better than samsung (all other phones outside of samsung uses capacitive technology and makes writing on the phone feel a bit less natural).
So that narrows down my choice to the galaxy note20 ultra (If I do get this, I plan on getting the N986B version), but I have a few questions
Will the S pen pro work on the Note20 Ultra?
Is the stylus/s-pen technology supported if I plan to root my phone and put on an AOSP rom (I very much dislike the UI samsung has on their phones)
Thanks for your time. Hopefully this can be my replacement phone
Hi...
Answer to the question nr. 1 is YES. S Pen Pro gonna work with Note 20 ultra... And the same answer to question nr. 2...You not gonna lose functionality of both S Pens ( Pro and this one which is embedded in the phone) after rooting and changing rom...
After rooting You can lose Knox related functionality...
