I read this over at tmonews...
"While playing with my G today, I found a way to enter "safe mode" which will bypass the initial gmail signin and allow you to straight to the good stuff with out activating via google. You can also bypass the security drawing pattern.
1. Power off your device
2. While device is powering back on press and hold the "menu" key, keep holding it past the G1 and android splash screen.
Phone will boot all the way to the main screen and display "safe mode" in lower left corner.
I have confirmed that data is still fully operational and all of my downloaded programs."
Very interesting

How about a ROM DUMP?
I think there's already a thread or two about that.
im sorry to say this but the safe mode does not allow to bypass the initial activation screen but it sure does bypass the security screen

Correct I already posted about this. You still have to activate service with Tmobile and Google. Safe mode on the phone is just like on a regular computer help you fix issues.

It runs exactly as u would have it if it wasnt in safe mode the only difference is that u can bypass the security screen and attempt to change the security lock i'll play around wit it later on today
Well being the moder I am. I was smart enough to download that converter program floating around before reading about it and I get non stop errors on the home screen.. but for w/e reason running the phone in safe mode does not let the program load so I get no errors now but I can't unintsall it from the applications uninstall from settings.. it gives me an error when iit treys to compute the program sizes so I I can not run the phone when not in safe mode.. would be awesome if someone could help me here
try connecting it to the computer in debug mode and uninstall using adb
i have been google searching for two hours and i have yet to find how to put commands into the g1 i got the drivers and everything and its recoginzed by my comp but i dont know where i type adb shell uninstall or w/e can you direct me in the right direction?
you need to download the SDK from google. You should see some threads with the SDK or the Emulater... it is all the same. adb is in the tools thread. Ohh and you need to enter "adb -d uninstall (name of apk)"

google is your best friend. try searching for a solution. all you have to do is change the APN settings to rogers/fido and go through the gmail activation.

Bypass Google Account Just ONE CLICK

I am currently trying to root my original t-mobile mytouch. I have downgraded to cupcake with the sappimn.nbh file so when I turn on the phone I get the "touch the android to begin" screen. I am us millitary and currently stationed somewhere that I do not have service. I can drive about 20 min from here and get at&t service though.
I need to know if there is a way to bypass the google activation screen so that I can flash the recovery image and so on. Or is there a way to activate over wifi? If need be will it activate over the at&t network if i go for a drive?
Thanks in advance!
So I found the phone on craigslist. It has google account locked unfortunately. I tried several guides on youtube (the SHARE link trick doesn't work, OTG adapter doesn't work). In one guide I managed to open chrome browser by somehow dialing 112 and switching to internet once I got connected (told them it was an accident). I tried several .apk apps but some crashed and others had no effect after factory default. I managed to take a picture of the Software info:
https://postimage.org/
Is there anything I can try to unlock this thing? Or am I screwed?
Other info: MODEL SMG930UZKAX
Found a great tutorial and fixed it! For anyone else stuck in this situation see this guide:

Its in vietnamese so translate it using chrome.
So after the latest beta install I noticed a few things acting oddly so I opted to factory reset my phone to see if that helped. The reset went perfectly well but during the setup process of activating the phone/linking to your gmail account I got stuck at this carrier code portion. It is asking me to either enter a carrier code manually or scan a QR code. I have contacted Google Fi and they have no idea what this code means/believe there are no such codes.
I tried using Tool All In One to reset my phone to an old image but it needs me to have an unlocked bootloader which I am having a hard time finding how to unlock while stuck in the setup phase/in recovery mode.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: When I press "Don't have a QR code?" it just goes back to that exact same screen.
Any luck?
I have the same problem. I opted out of Android Beta, and after the phone restarted, I went through the same process you described. I contacted Google, they couldn't help. They transferred me to the Fi team, they couldn't help and within a few minutes they offered to send me a new phone. They don't usually do that, so I suspect they are aware of more than they are letting on.

Have you tried a different SIM or taking it out altogether?
I had the issue too I'm a Fi user and I just skipped setting up my project Fi Esim and just setup over WiFi then used the Project Fi app to set up my service
Resolution
Hey what's up everyone, so.... I've been running into this issue as well because I factory reset my phone after google assistant glitched out on me day in and day out by constantly crashing. Yes I have project fi, yes I use esim instead of a physical sim card. Yes I have tried the skip method. IT ALL BROUGHT ME BACK TO THE SAME SCREEN.
I am currently studying network operations and security and have been racking my brain about this issue.
**** WHEN IT ASKS FOR QR CODE SCAN OR ENTER MANUALLY, HIT ENTER MANUALLY**** ENTER YOUR IMEI # Located on the box your phone came with, or it's also allegedly found where your sim card goes in on the pixel., This helped me get past this screen of QR code and helped me get off google support chat for 3 hours.
Of course after you get past the QR screen I also found myself without cell data, so I went into my project Fi App and from there I was able to activate service.
TRY IT, and if it worked, I love you too.

holy crap you're a genius - thank you!
Hi. I have a pixel 7 pro ut ive also had pixel 6a in the past with the same issue. I've never got a phone to work right ever since the android 13 update for the 6 series. I use google fi.
I've replaced my phones a half dozen times and tried flashing/rooting, etc if it doesnt work but can never get it working properly,
The issue is this: the phone SEEMS to somehow revert to somehow having the boot partition being a ramdisk as well as the init_boot. if i look at the bootloader variables, the active slot that booted says its succesful; fastboot ok; but the retry count is 2 whereas the other slot says not successful, retry count 3,; fastboot ok;
if i set the other slot as active and try to boot to the system it will show the google logo (the one with the word google), then bootloop 3 times until it boots the other slot and then the booloader says the other slot is unbootable. also, system updated arent working properly, even the google play ones.
when it boots, where it shoes the network im connected to it will quickly flash from no sim card to no network to google fi.
also sometimes google sees my phone as 2 different devices. one is signed in as an android device and the other as "chrome webview"
also many of the system apps dont show properly when listing all the apps and it lists all the overlays as 0 bytes and shows "carrier settings" twice
also, the dialer, when doing *#*#4636#*#* will list two "phones" and one is on lte network google fi and the other is iwlan google fi and one says the "sub id" is 1, while the other shows as -1.
Anyone have any clue as to the issue? or how to fix it. As i said this has happenned on 3 different pixel 6a's and 3 different pixel 7 pro's
