General Game Booster settings comparison - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Unrooted. Running background apps cleaned, motion smoothness set to adaptive, screen resolution set to WQHD+ 3088 x 1440.
Experimental setting physically felt like it got much hotter than the Performance setting test, which I'm assuming is why it scored the lowest on the 3DMARK test. I'm seeing posts and youtubers saying if we want the best gaming performance, we should go with the experimental setting option but is anyone else getting comparisons like this?

Game optimisation setting in Game booster.

I dont have such menu shown on screenshot. No game optimisation, refresh rate,... only what i can see is shortcuts, resolution and labs. Any idea how can I activate optimisation? My version of GB is 4.0.00.29, Galaxy S22 Ultra Exynos.
Thanx

Yeah same, I don't see that " Game Optimization " or Refresh rate option either. Snapdragon S22U unlocked on the March update (AVC8) with GB version 4.0.00.29

Open Game Launcher, tap on the 3 bars on the bottom right, then click Game Booster. You will see the screen above your post. Go to Labs if you want to turn GOS off.

I have the option to turn GOS off - " Alternate game performance management" . I was just wondering about the option OP had with "Game Optimization: Performance " as I don't have that option.

You will only see that option with GOS turned ON. Alternate game performance managed needs to be unchecked for the performance option to be available.

I do not see the game optimization option with the alternate performance on or off. US Unlocked.
Edit: Figured it out. With Game Plugins installed, you will not see that option.
Edit 2: Per Kris's post, you can have game plugins installed. Just uninstall game booster plus and the optimization menu will show. Good find Kris.

On performance. I got some apps open this is my daily driver that was copyed over from my note 20 ultra. That was copyed from my note 10 plus that was copyed from my note 9.

That's not true. I had Game Plugins installed and was still able to see the option. It's actually Game Booster Plus that disables the option. Game Booster Plus is a plugin within Game Plugins where you can customize your resolution and frame rate.
If you have Game Plugins and Game Booster Plus installed, you will not see the "Performance" option or be able to choose anything for game optimization.
Right now I have Game Plugins and Game Booster Plus uninstalled, and when I uncheck "alternate game performance management" I can then choose performance option in the previous page.
In my experience, playing Call of Duty Mobile, it runs better with "alternate game performance management" checked, meaning GOS is off. This does cause a bit of heating.

Am i doing something wrong here? Why is my score so low? That i know of all my settings are set up like everyone else on here.

Apologies for not clarifying. Game Optimization Service (GOS) was recently replaced with Game Booster Settings after an update was released after the GOS controversy.
If you have the latest update, open settings, type Game Booster Settings, and then you'll find Game Optimization. There are 3 modes that replaces GOS. Performance, Standard, and Battery Saver. Additionally, under the Labs setting, they included an "experimental" feature called Alternate Game Performance Management. This setting was intended to be the resolution to the GOS controversy.
Essentially, it is suppose to disable game performance settings to a degree, which, when previously apart of GOS, was massively throttling game and app performance to avoid an overheating issue that is inherent in the S21 and 22 lines.
It was assumed by many that you would get the most performance using the Alternate experimental mode as it was assumed to disable throttling the most, but also may cause more heating issues. But when I tested with 3DMark, Performance mode and Standard mode surpassed the Alternate mode by quite a bit. During the Alternate mode test, my phone did heat up much more than the other two tests, which I wonder is what caused the performance hit.
I was looking to verify that here if I could see other comparisons.

Which Game Optimization option have you selected? Or is this with the Alternate mode where the game Optimization settings are disabled?

In other Words, it's no longer necessary to disable GOS to get the full Performance on my Device?

[NEW/APP] Root Booster - Boost your performance, battery life with innovative tools

Root booster is for those who needs more power to run applications smoothly without lags or for those who needs to improve poor battery life.

There are many apps which save battery or incrase performance, however Root Booster uses the most proven settings to achive best results. You can easily apply these settings with preset modes which ensures speed boost, battery boost or stability boost. Theese modes are achived by applying appropriate settings to main phone components. Here are explanations what particullary Root Booster does to your CPU, RAM and Android OS system.
CPU (processor governor control)
A governor is a driver for the regulation of CPU frequency. Governor decides how fast and when will by achieved maximal or minimal CPU frequency. Setting apropriate governor makes your device more battery saving, fast or even stable. However deciding which governor is suitable is a little bit tricky. Root Booster can decide which governor you should use and automatically apply the most suitable governor for selected mode.
RAM (memory manager)
Each application uses VM heap for it 's data and work. The main reason to change VM heap size is stability improvement. Many big applications need's big amount of memory (VM heap) for it's work. If the VM heap size is smaller than requested memory causes application crash (Out of memory error). Setting heap size is hard task and there is no manual to set up for better performance. Better performance can be only achieved by testing. Root boster will test your RAM and sets up your VM heap size for better stability and performance.
System (Android OS optimizer)
Each Android application can have one or multiple services. They are running in background and usually performing some kind of task. Many people think's that when they kill application it completely stops draining your battery and computing power, but that's not true. Application still have servicies that are running after killing and still drains battery and comuting power. Root booster will scan your services and disables the most battery draining and performance demanding servicies to optimize your system.

[GUIDE] Getting the max FPS (60) in PUBG Mobile without root from newbie to newbies

DISCLAIMER: This is not professional thread. This is just a simple guide to increase FPS from a newbie to newbies like me.
I really love playing PUBG. I have seen many people discussing the performance of PUBG Mobile for our lovely Mi A1 and I wanted to share with you few non-root methods to improve your performance in PUBG Mobile. I have been testing and experimenting with it and I have made a REALLY SIMPLE and EASY list with my recommendations which can really give you about 50-60 FPS, none of these methods require root, custom ROMs or kernels:
1) Download GFXTool app from Google Play
This app allows you to completly edit graphics settings for PUBG Mobile. You can change resolution, graphics, AA and even shadows and more. First pick your server and then edit those settings. Just skip all the ads.
For the best result set this:
Resolution: 960x540
Graphics: So Smooth
FPS: 60 FPS
Disable shadows and let the style be Classic

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
NOTE: If you want some playble graphics, set Anti-aliasing to ENABLE to reduce the "pixelness" - it may cost you a few FPS
2) Overheating slows the device
It is enormously hot outside, especially now in summer. And so hot is your phone when you play PUBG. I recommend to take a break for your phone after every longer game. I have noticed small performance decreases after playing longer game, that's because it is really hot outside and our phone doesn't cool enough. Overheating decreases your phone's lifespan and performance. Just don't play while charging the battery. A smaller thing is to correctly hold the phone with your hands while playing, because if you don't give a colder air for your phone, it can't cool down. It is recommended to put off your mobile phone case while playing to let the phone cool down.
3) Overlay windows and bubbles
Don't use any chatting or notification bubbles on your screen while playing. The most famous one is Facebook Messenger, pop-ups decreases your performace a lot.
4) DND
DND means Do Not Disturb. You may laugh, but this can highly improve your performance in PUBG. Notifications jumping on your screen like Messenger really lags the game. By setting the DND your apps won't disturb you while playing, but the thing is, that you have no sound. Let's hope that in future updates will Xiaomi let us use sound from media while DND.
5) Don't play with low battery
My Mi A1 shuts down 4 cores of my CPU while it is somewhere under 25% of battery percentage. This can highly slow down your phone while playing PUBG.
6) Other smaller tweaks
Turn of microphone and voice in the game
Don't use any security software which can run in the background
Close your recent apps which may run in the background
Reboot your phone before playing
Disable automatic updates on Google Play to reduce the updating of your apps while playing the game
That's all from me. Feel free to criticise me or even correcting me. These were the simpliest methods to keep your game running at 60 FPS without any modifications or root.
Happy WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!
I thought the 4 cores thingy triggered at 10% ? Or did they change that in newer versions ?

Few things:
Pubg removed frame rate access on 0.7 will return in 0.8
Source: official gfx tool changelog and in-app faq.
For our device fps is maxed at 30-40 fps. Why? read above text
Four cores shutting down happens when andriod battery saver mode is activated which can be set to 5% or 15%. not 25%.
Note: fps thing might wring. Welcome corrections based on screenshot using a fps meter.

Just curious how can you say you definitely know it's 60 fps.
When there was option available fps was in 40-60 range and try proning or going through smoke fps goes 18-30.
4 cores won't automatically shutdown until Android system tells cpu to do so and that happens to save battery.
First measure fps and see. There's an app called gamebench it requires pc.
And show screenshot for fps and cpu offline.
PS: this is an educational argument.

Thanks for educating, but none of this is new for me. I don't have currently PC available for few weeks. Then I would record the FPS for this thread. This thread doesnt say that it gives all time 60 fps, everything throttles and is not stable 60, it is guide to reach, again reach 50-60 FPS, not to play on 60 stable. I know how 60 FPS look like and I can say, that it is really close to it, sometimes it is 60.
Of course Android system tells the CPU to turn it off, I dont know where is the problem.
And come on, this thread is "from newbie to newbie".

Okay just bear with me.
In pubg we have frame rate settings like this:
Low - 15 fps (guess)
Medium - 20 fps (guess)
High - 30 fps (fact)
Ultra - 40 fps (fact)
Extreme - 60 fps (fact)
Fps shown here are the maximum allowed by game when those settings are chosen.
This means that when you set fps at High your game will not cross 30 fps.
Now do you see ultra and extreme options in 0.7?
If yes. Is extreme selected?
If yes. Then congratulations you can play pubgmobile at 60fps and thats awesome.
If No to any of those two questions then you cannot play at 60fps in 0.7.
And i have never said that you are talking about constant 60 fps.
This post isn't to challenge your experience as i don't whether you are new or old to this. I am just pointing out some inaccuracies.
Thanks.

No Ban 99% safe Thanks to Battleye .
PUBG uses Battleye Anti cheat system....
Most of the time, Battleye reports the suspicious user and then suitable action is taken on them according to the game developer policy.
Please note that core functionality of Battleye is dependent on the the kernel level API's of Windows(OS) and Client-Server network.
Some points to note:
1) Due to Battleye Windows kernel level API limitation, Game is not released on Linux(such as Ubuntu etc)... and this functionality is not available on Android OS.
2) Client-Server networking is used for checking abnormal behaviors like speed hacks, unlimited health etc.
Changing graphics is normal behavior. You can also change it from game...
3) Some innocent user is also getting ban for no reason because of Battleye. Even on reddit and discord some user report ban for no reason(Just "Google" it)
4) PUBG mobile policy (about ban for graphics tool) is not updated yet*(Open PUBG mobile 1) Click on settings icon and then Customer service 2) Read Penalties(Directory for rule violations) ) Update: 28th of August,2018)
5) Till now, We haven't receive any ban report from our user...
So on Android it is safe.[/SIZE]

You might be using the WQHD resolution which is recommended for Tablets. We requested you to use FHD or HD+ resolution on android phones btw thanks for the feedback
Wow ! Thanks a lot development team , I hope this improves the gameplay on my Galaxy S6 . :fingers-crossed:
The app works flawlessly, but as Crankiro previously said, I think there's a bug with the resolution choice because I initially set it to FHD and the HUD has clearly shrank. Then I tried to set it to HD and it came back to regular size.
Lastly, I think it would be really cool (if possible) to add a FPS tracker

thanks, works in my redmi note 4 3 gb ram, tried hd, its says 4-5 gb of ram needed but my phone still able to run it smoothly. thanks.
App works great. The key to getting the perfect display settings is to either tweak all the settings yourself, keeping in mind that one doesn't try pushing the device too hard, or use the "zero lag + battery efficiency" option.
I am using LG G6 H870DS on Oreo, and I can testify that, HD+ resolution could be the perfect balancing point between the highest possible graphics, details, etc, and constant stable 25-35 fps.
However, the game will stutter ever so slightly when a bunch of players spawn, especially during the starting and jumping off the plane.
Great app!
Thank you so much!
Cheers!

Pretty smooth and cap out 40FPS from this setting on my Oneplus 5T. good stuff, thanks op.
edit: one issue though, the "center aim dot color" reset to white color everytime restart the game, any hot fix?
Graphically doesn't change anything, only resolution. If you select HDR graphics, actually it won't apply anything. It even looks worse than HD, which is default on my phone, deletes shadows, even though I set them to max...that's why you get 40 FPS...
I need some proof, because I believe that all what the app does is set graphics to medium with no shadows...
Ps: Galaxy S8+
Example for HDR graphics: you can see the trees when on the plane...
On my 5T, I tried using the 1080p resolution, but ui shrinks. This might be that the 1080p was for 16:9, but mine is 18:9.

How To Guide ***CLOSED*** Samsung: How to KEEP apps in the BACKGROUND!

Hey guys,
in case you are not happy with the default One UI apps background management, you can check this solution. In a nutshell, there is a Memory Guardian module part of Good Guardians, that allows the user to switch from default to the so called "quick switching mode" that somehow reduces the aggressive background app killing, i.e. app refresh.
Moderator Edit: YouTube link removed due to violation of XDA external links policy.
I have tested this with following apps:
- Spotify
- Mixcloud
- Instagram
- Snapchat
- Tiktok
- Youtube
Some other users tested this with Waze and other apps and it seems that it works.
What is the idea? Well imagine you are browsing through insta and you find a nice post that you d like to check, but then something else pops up and you switch to another app. Then after you are back to your app (in this case insta) One UI would "refresh" the app, meaning that it will reload it, and you will lose your "last state", i.e. imagine refreshing the app or close/opening it.
Download Samsung Good Guardians from the Store ► https://bit.ly/3yGFUms
Download Samsung Good Guardians for a manual install ► https://bit.ly/3yOehYD
It is also supposed to work with some of the heavy games, test it and let me know if you apps refresh is a bit better (i.e. not refreshed so much) or ... no difference at all.
I have tested this on my S22U with 12G of RAM but I guess it should have a better impact for 8 GB and lower RAM configs.
Appreciate the find!
I have 8gb version and apps are staying open much better now

Nice to hear that! Can you let us know which apps did you test? Also - how much of VRAM (Virtual RAM) do you use?
I makes a bit of difference on my 12GB version so I assumed that it would be even better/bigger impact on 8GB and less.
Strangely enough this function is not very popular, was almost not able to find much info around. The whole Good Guardians tools are widely underestimated and they pack a few good tricks.
Thermal Guardian for example can let you adjust the thermal threshold of your phone, so it can potentially tolerate a bit more heat where battery life is exchanged for better peak performance and hopefully also sustained.

Hey guys,
in case you are not happy with the default One UI apps background management, you can check this solution.

Download Samsung Good Guardians for a manual install ► https://bit.ly/3yOehYD
It is also supposed to work with some of the heavy games, test it and let me know if you apps refresh is a bit better (i.e. not refreshed so much) or ... no difference at all.

So...I just sort of excluded all apps for the most part to test. They stay in ram longer but still hit a point where they refresh. Using 8gb vram but haven't seen ram usage above 6gb or so yet

Can HTRACK be further tweaked, perhaps from dev options? I remember seeing something for background processes, like a limitation factor setting.

Yep, it`s not a silver bullet, but still some positive impact.

update, i must say this app so far has seemed to keep my HTTrack running great in the background, it ha certainly made a difference, i did have it set "unrestricted" in the app settings/battery setting before and that didnt help, this app now works even with the app power settings set to "optimised"

How To Guide FIX for 90% of the Stutters and Scrolling Lag

I have had this phone since April and it has been a stuttering mess for me with a lot of popular apps, especially social media apps like Twitter. So, I was glad when I stumbled on a solution; Samsung apps that are region locked, for example both of these are not available in Australia:
Try to find these apps in the Galaxy Store first, as they might be available in your region:
First, download and install the latest Samsung Good Guardians app, if you downloaded this through the Galaxy Store, you can download all other apps suggested below from within the Good Guardians app, otherwise grab the latest APK's from below:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/galaxy-labs/
Then:
2. Download and install the latest Samsung Galaxy App Booster
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/app-booster/
Run Good Guardians, and through that app, you run the Galaxy App Booster.
Using Galaxy App Booster, click on OPTIMIZE NOW and wait for it to complete the process.
Run this "Optimize Now" feature once a week. Enjoy.
That's it, that fixed most of my stutters when nothing else and no other optimizations done much these last few months.
There still remains a little bit of stutter, but nowhere near as bad as before.
EXTRA Information:
3. I personally use Samsung Thermal Guardian too:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-thermal-guardian/
Using Thermal Guardian, I increase the Thermal Threshold to maximum (click the + sign a couple of times). This allows the CPU to run at hotter temperatures, however, I also use Additional Settings to "Limit CPU Boosting when Heating", this prevents the CPU from over-heating. What I have found, is that these two combined allow the CPU to run between 70% and 90% power, giving an overall more fluid performance, without over-heating.
4. If you have used the information in #3, then I also set Processing Speed to Maximum, when combined with Limited Boosting, it provides a better overall experience. To activate Maximum Processing Speed, go to device Settings, then "Battery and Device Care", then "Battery", then "More battery settings", then "Processing Speed", then set to "Maximum".

Great tutorial, maybe that's why my phone is so smooth since I bought it.
I would just add the recommendation to run the Galaxy App Booster after each firmware update being it via OTA or flashed directly or at least once every 1 or 2 weeks (though, I didnt find the need for it since I'm on beta). This is also the recommendation from the app itself for those that have it installed.

If, anyone else installs this with success please respond. Don't like the idea of needing three APKs for this to work
THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE FLUENCY THANK YOU
I did all the steps for now, worked without any problems. I will respond again in some days about battery usage / overall performance (I'm on Android 13 Beta 1)

Edited main post to include information about the Galaxy Store.
100% if they are available in your region, better to download them directly through the Galaxy Store.
Didnt know the Thermal Guardian app existed. Looking forward to giving this a try for increased performance.

Same here. I noticed improvement with Twitter.
This is something that Samsung needs to fix because other OEMs have issued patches to fix app lag. Example, Nothing patched the issue with scroll lag on twitter in their recent update and now it's literally buttery smooth. Not sure what they did to fix it, but Samsung should take note.

Samsung isn't responsible for non-Samsung apps.

Has nothing to do with the app if another phone OEM was able to patch it though, does it? It means there's something in the OS causing it to occur. I have no idea what that is, but it seems clear to me they need to do something to fix the lag and stuttering.
After the August patch it seems to be a bit better but not as good as on my Nothing phone after their recent update. Buttery smooth and on a much more 'inferior' SOC.

The only app I get lag and stuttering is Twitter. Even then it is minor.
I thought I would give this a try and it has Made Samsung Internet horrible. It freezes and stops responding constantly now.
Install free version of Galaxy MaxHz app > open it with internet enabled to download latest profiles > Default refresh rates > 60 - 120 Hz.
That trick defeated all lags, microfreezes and stuttering on my S22 (Exynos).
FYI. As I recall correctly, you need to open Galaxy Max Hz app after every reboot to apply settings.
