General Hopefully plenty of people get behind this device - Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G (peux)/POCO X4 Pro 5G (veux)

Seems like a solid all round device, I'd say this should end up getting some development love

I agree, but I also see some flaws which might be unattractive to some developers. Specially the old chipset. But we will see how well it will turn out. To me, the hardware is pretty great, but the software is horrible.

To be fair alot of other high end phones are coming out with mediatek chips which severely limits development. Imo this chip is a good balance, a flagship speced processor would have bumped up the price alot considering the other specs are so good

Since we have two devices xiaomi/Poco I'd say we will have some support for sure. I'm surprised that xda made threads for these within the same week they were released so clearly they think there will be interest too

I think the problem is all the variants. I got mine from Aliexpress and it's a redmi note 11 pro but pissarro? I don't even see it on these forums.

Yeah Xiaomi/Poco have lots of slight differences and models haha. Similar phone but looks like yours has a mediatek chip which will mean next to zero development...

I'm also looking at buying a Redmi Note 11 Pro, specifically the non+ Snapdragon 695 in the hopes we will get development. I wanted the + with the MediaTek but I also realize that won't have any development so..

Dont expect too much support for this Phone. Because of its High Price for the low specs it flopped hard on the Market.

To be fair, I think the price more than justifies what you get. The only thing I hear people criticizing is that the processor is slower than the previous model - can't say I've experienced any stutters or lag etc. Each to their own but I'm more than happy

Absolutely, but i think you can get much more for the same price or even cheaper and most people thinking the same. For example: Why would i choose the X4 if i can get a F3 much cheaper.

I guess some people may prefer a phone that has a micro SD slot, alot faster charging, bigger battery and better battery life because a processor like that is overkill imo. Either way, both phones have their usages - like every phone, it has pros and cons. Out of curiousity, how come your here in this thread about it?

I guess somebody can move the whole M9 Rom to other phones. They did this on Milestone successfully.
Very nice and elegant.
This is probably the only made-in-China product that I'll happily endorse.
I have an M9 too, this website needs a forum for it. It needs to be rooted!

It is a good idea. But Meizu is only a small company. Whatever Apple or Motorola are much bigger than Meizu. Actually M9 is a good cellphone.
I love the M9, I would buy it if it weren't so expensive (US$450). Is there any place that sells it cheaper than that?

Should i buy it to start developing for it?

Well i've been considering going back to developing for a few months, however a few things have been stopping me from doing this, but to keep it short: for now i'm going to do it as a hobby so i'm not planning on buying an expensive phone (as i don't own an android phone right now), my contract ends this week and i can get a new Moto G for around 72 euros which i consider is a great price. So here are my doubts:
Is the community good for this phone? I've wandered around its forum a few times and so far i have a good impression, but i'd really want to know the users opinions
Do you think it's worth it and i could take advantage of this phone? I personally think its a great phone for this as its pretty much stock and for what i've seen support is quite good, but i just want to make sure
Thanks a lot, and i know this questions might seem stupid but i'd really use some help

Yes, do it!
The community is big and nice, and the phone is very nice!
A big advantage is the nearly stock android.
Have a nice day!
The phone is in Germany always out of stock. I think many people bought this phone all over the world. So the forum will grow!
Do it! Please
The more developers the better
There are a lot of people with the moto g and if you can get it that cheap I really suggest you buying it.

Great to see another developer getting onboard.
Really looking forward for your contribution.
Good choice! The Moto G is a nice phone for a low price, and one of the reasons I bought it is to try to develop for it as well Compiling CM11 for it as we speak.

Hehe, don't expect too much from me though. I'm a software engineer, but this is my first time developing for Android. I wanted to look at the code because my Moto G suffers from the dreaded RAM bug, and I have an idea what the problem could be. Hopefully I can contribute to getting it fixed

I dont recall mentioning donations at all, and if you knew my previous work on the Galaxy S you'd know i started without even the option to donate which i added later on after a few users asked me to do it, wouldn't have put a donation button if it wasn't for that, i don't do this for donations. I do this as a hobby because i find it fun, and it's quite satisfactory reading nice comments on work you've done (not that i have done any for the moto G yet anyway). I find it more "hilarious" you're calling a thread hilarious for such reason, if i wanted donations don't you think i'd go for a high budget phone where you could expect greater donations? The only reason i did this and i chose such phone is because i think for such price, a great base (aosp) i can learn a lot.
Not that i care about your comment anyway as it's based on bs, and saying it's hilarious says a lot about your sense of humour which i'm sorry, but i don't share it
Just wanted to clarify a few things, to avoid confusions, and i'm sorry if i offended someone with the answer but i just answered the same way as the way in which the post i'm replying to was.

Custom Roms and Software Future

Hey guys,
atm I'm looking for a new phone and as it just dropped 50€ in price I'm highly considering the Honor 8. The only thing that worries me is that there are no Custom Roms. Right now I'm using a Samsung S5 with AICP Android 6 and the Nougat Update just around the Corner. Will there ever be stable and really Daily driver usable custom roms with Stock Android for Kirin CPUs? If there is no hope just tell me and I will move on searching but if there will be some developement in the future I would love to own this phone.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I recommend you to read more threads about development here, that way you'll understand the situation better and why it's like that.
At the moment, no roms and no one working on it.

There are some that are working on it but to be honest developing for this device is almost as bad as developing for xiaomi devices. There are a few teams that were working on it but then just tossed the device aside and said it wasnt worth the trouble.

Yeah mainly when they don't translate stuff out of Chinese. Which even translated comes out to gibberish. This is why many of the teams just gave up on the device and told the people that got them the device that it just wasn't gonna happen.
For now, be away from Kirin devices if you look for Custom ROM. Stay with Qualcomm or even MTK...

Some have tried. It doesn't translate well due to the different dialects that are used.

I do agree with you it's easier for them to make them in chinese.
All I'm trying to say it isn't that hard to make the files in english (as it's the most used language) and it will be easier for the community to get started
After all, it's up to them
At least we won't get a ****load of copy/pasted buggy roms made by people who don't even own the device or know what a kernel is.
I now find myself more comfortable with this phone and exactly 0 kernel kiddies around, than with my previous Samsung and the perpetual expectation/hope/false illusion of someone to finally make a decent update out of the hundred available variants, which yes it let me keep the phone a year more, but always on the edge of instability, and with an additional decrease of its used market value (a 2-years old phone still has some market; 3-years old is ready to trash).
I don't see criticalities on this phone for now; we'll get Nougat and an EMUI refresh in a few months, and that's enough for another year. Except some defects on status bar and notifications, I don't miss any of the 10000 features of the various fully modded CM13 roms.

Looking at older model used phones.. but which ones to look for ?

edit 2 Sorry, I think this should have been in the Q&A thread? I can't see any option to move it there, or delete this post, and make a new one there. Sorry
Hey guys,
Have been looking on ebay at phones released around 2-3yrs ago for a new(used) upgrade from my current HTC ONE X... but I'm not familiar with all the smartphone tech, or issues, or what's decent/bad etc..
Originally I looked at the LG NEXUS 5X, then read it's got a fault that causes it to fail/Bootloop (eventually). Few people said, there's other phones in similar price range that would be better, though none suggested any (yet). Then I looked at the NEXUS 6P, but, I read again, these have a bootloop fault too ??
Are there any phones that have gotten a good reputation, probably 2014> that still perform well today, but aren't plagued with hardware faults? I don't mind if I have to repair / reflash firmware etc.. as one reason I look at ebay, hope to pickup a phone for cheap (due to broken.. ie screen, not starting up), then fix it.
Price range, around $100, but obviously price for phone will vary depending on phone and condition etc..
[edit] I should have noted, I'm from Australia, so phone prices vary here. Maybe, if you can, throw some suggestions my way, and I'll look around based on what I can spend.
Suggestions on what to look out for ?
Thanks in advance,
