Hi everyone,
I was thrilled last night when my X3 Pro showed an upgrade to Android 12-based MIUI 13 was available. I downloaded the thing (all 3.1 GB of it...), install went without a hitch, ditto reboot, but I'm severely disappointed so far.
Everything feels slow and sluggish, even with the power slider set to Performance and the screen refresh rate pegged at 120 Hz.
Navigation in the Settings menu is OK, but all the other applications are slow to react. Scrolling up and down my Twitter timeline doesn't feel as snappy as it did before, when I was still on MIUI 12.x and Android 11.
Have any of you noticed the same thing? Did Xiaomi jump the gun with this update? I know Android must rebuild some system and application caches after each upgrade and all, but still, this doesn't quite feel right.
The only good thing is the battery life, which seems to have improved a bit, but that's all. DevCheck shows CPU peaks at 2.4 GHz under strain, but the Kryo core that's supposed to clock at 2.9 GHz never seems to wake up.
Did Xiaomi underclock the CPU the way Samsung does sometimes, to preserve battery life? Like I said, something's not right here...
Why do you even MIUI in the first place ?
I had the same. Only the factory reset showed the miui13 claw on Android 12. Tetaz everything runs smoothly. The battery holds up better.
I'm not inclined to do that just now. I've got tons of music and stuff on my phone and I really don't have the time at the moment, but push come to shove, maybe I'll have to do it.

Apps like Twitter, Telegram, and Instagram seem much slower and laggy and stutter when scrolling. Twitter in particular runs like disaster. My phone was buttery smooth and did not have any lagging issue even when I tried to create one before this stupid update!!! Should I factory reset or wait for another update or something guys?

Mine is slowly getting there, in terms of ease of use and overall smoothness, so I suppose it's a matter of Android reconstructing apps and system caches after all. It's not quite as smooth as it was under 12.5.9, though, and some "features" are mildly annoying, like the fact that I have to tap the Return to home button twice to actually close some apps (but not all of them). It's hard to tell if the app itself is causing this or if it's an Android 12 trait.

I'm also seeing some improvements over time! Totally agree with you! It's getting better as things get reconstructed and stuff but STILL it feels slower than the snappy phone it was before the update. Seems we need to be patient! I don't think a factory reset is worth the time and hassle now that things are showing signs of getting back to normal.

Let's give it a week or so and we'll see; After all, it's a big upgrade: new MIUI version + moving from Android 11 to Android 12.

Agreed! Yup, it definitely is slower to my eyes too. It's no imagination. Sure, it's a BIG update and many enhancements and fixes are to follow in the near future!
Everyone decides for himself what he wants to do. I just wrote that after the update, the phone was stuttering and restoring the factory settings made it run faster and smoother as on miui 12.5.9.0 and it heats up less
Its 2022 and people still dont get that its good to do any major updates on clean phone or do factory reset to remove any issues, official or not, its just how android work really :/
People always had such issues and they probably will have them in the future.
Its not like your life depend on getting new software, so just update later when you have some free time to do clean install or do factory reset.
It remind me of installing custom ROMs when you get feeling that its smoother. Well most of that speed came from having clean system, and after month or two you loose some of it. Here you have clooged system with your stuff and app cache, and you throw on top new OS... you will get some issues...
You guys should know that it is highly recommended to reset during a major Android update if you don't then don't be surprised by weird bugs.
its the common rule,when you are updating any rom on any device,its proper to factory reset and built from then.....i believe its a dirty installation even if you factory reset-install rom-restore data from recovery....even that it will give you some errors....noticed last time with a11,restored from backup ,and the time between restarts,is way to more.....

Phone lags in being unlocked by fingerprint, and locking it with two taps is done without any animation. Gallery is un-usable too as it's become to slow and it stutters. The game boost slider in games is un-usable as it interferes with the game so I've disabled it. I am NOT happy with this upgrade.
Battery might've improved but I suspect they've sacrificed the performance.

You can read. After all, many people wrote that after such a large update, and even more so, switching from android 11 to 12, it is advisable to do a factory reset and you will not have any problems. The fluidity will increase significantly and the battery will hold better. It's so hard to understand. The same is done when installing a custom rom.

Maybe work on your grammar and semantics first, and then talk about things being difficult to understand. It's common knowledge that a factory-reset is advisable after an upgrade, and it's not like you're imparting arcane knowledge by saying a factory-reset should be done. What is being discussed here are bugs encountered after an upgrade, and since it's android 12 it's expected that a factory reset shouldn't be needed.
Check your attitude, no one asked for help.
In my opinion, Miui's overall optimization on this phone is a disaster. In one year they haven't been able to correct the Google Discover's tremendous lag yet (I think they haven't even tried to). I have done a totally clean installation of Miui 13 Android 12 via fastboot (using miflash). I must say that the optimization now is even worse than it was before the update. The phone just feels slower. Of course we can use custom roms, but it is Xiaomi's responsability to do a much better work with their software.
I hid the notification and I will not update for a long time until I know that there are improvements to something, since the beta I read that the version has problems :/

Hi, I noticed a real improvement with performances compared to 4.4, it's really really smooth, no bugs, no lags, no crashs
Battery is a bit better but slower to charge.
And gaming is better too, I was with an OC Kernel and now with stock 5.0 it's better.
Nougat on shield is a real improvement for me. But you should wait recovery image for a clean installation.

There's a bit of a performance increase, but I've noticed some strange bugs...It takes much longer to charge my tablet, and there's quite a few wakelocks...Even the screen comes on by itself (This is after a complete wipe after upgrading, then having Google download the same apps I had before the upgrade).. Cant place my finger on the issue, but its a bit disappointing so far. Might wipe and start over or wait for an optimized stock from one of our nice devs here at XDA.

I tought it also great to apdate it.. Some of a cool fetures they offers.. But afyer i update my tablet.. My tablet becomes laggy and he also heating like crazy.. And some apps may not opened.. And if he's too laggy i just reboot my tablet on/off then it quite okay.. After several apps you opened ...and here we go again.. Damn.. I just wish i could turn back my 6.1 update again.. How will i fix this ??
Performance in gaming is very good, but in overall use tablet became laggy. Nvidia is going to relase patch for 5.0 update so i hope they fix the bugs.
I dont beleive what a **** nvidia give to us. Laggy. During playing a game i cant listening to a radio. Im very, very dissapointed.
My home and recent buttons as well as notification all disappeared after the update. Could anyone suggest how I may solve this problem?
I googled around and that seems a common problem after upgrading android, and the solution is to use adb. But my adb cannot see my tablet
and I could not find a way to turn on developer's mode .... (tapping Build Number does not work...)

I'm seeing significant improvement in performance. It's faster opening apps, going back to home screen, app drawer, etc.
For those with laggy performance (versus MM) or other bugs, you may need to factory reset (or recovery image clean install, as another mentioned). Its fairly common on any Android device, that migrating data doesn't play well with OTA updates. I know it sucks to have to reset. But that is one of the facts of life of Android.

What Kind of charger are you using? I noticed mine doesn't seem to want to charge at all. It sat for a while powered off on my charger and didn't want to power on it would say the battery was too low. Even when I was able to get it to boot up it would power off before android came up and go back to the powered off battery charging state. I was able to finally get it to recovery mode and that is showing the battery is charging its up to 5% after a few minutes. I'm using a Samsung fast charger rated at 5V 2.0 Amp or 9V 1.67 Amp.
you are right. For me wipe cache was enough i think. I will watch out.
MY OBSERVATIONS
My System and Methods:
0. Original Shield Tablet US-LTE, TWRP 3.0.3 by BitObsession, Unrooted, Pretty much stock
1. Flashed Full image of US-WIFI 4.4 version EXCEPT USERDATA (so that everything remains the same way). After reboot, I have observed that some apps just crashes so i figure these apps had problems during the firmware change (from US LTE tpo US WIFI). so i had them all uninstalled, and re-installed.
2. Allowed OTA for WIFI 5.0 to pop-up, downloaded
3. (VERY IMPORTANT) Made sure that everything that google play has to update were all updated
4. Installed WIFI 5.0 OTA
5. Very smooth installation - NO getting stuck at Nvidia Logo for a long time (as reported by most people...could be because they were rooted?)
6. Initially, occasional lagging occurred, so i think this is cache issue. since i feel like my recovery had been overwritten to stock, i reboot the tablet. then, in the software update menu in settings, i also cleared cache. then i rebooted again., just to make sure.
7. generally, the tablet feels smoother, im enjoying split screen. sometimes, it lags.
8. NO ISSUE with charging. same as usual whether the tablet is idle or im playing casual to heavy games
9. SD card write performance is the same
10. Antutu and Geekbench numbers improved
NEXT EXPERIMENT:
flash ROW LTE 5.0 update and flash TWRP 3.3.0 so i can clear cache WILL NOT ROOT hehe
My K1 is stock. After the OTA update, I had some performance issues and issues with the Google Play Store. The issues with the Play Store went away after I got a notification that Google Play Services needed to be updated. I wound up doing a factory reset yesterday for the performance issues, and so far the tablet is running much better.

The only thing that helps is a factory reset. Sometimes the battery calibration gets borked - especially with a major os upgrade. I did a factory reset before the Nougat update and everything works great.
General OS performance seemed slightly better, but at a cost of higher battery drain and extremely slow charging speed. I unlocked my bootloader and rolled back to Android 6 (update 1.5).
My two cents:
Other than the horrible noise emitting from the speaker's while charging and a new inability to keep a stable wifi connection; I like it OK.
I use it for native gaming and movies. I rooted nougat and that's it. Honestly dont see a huge improvement over the last OS, maybe a tiny bit smoother.
NVIDIA still won't let you control your own power settings, offering their lame performance/power feature again . Hate it.
Battery standby time seems improved, as does the battery life while watching native movies with Dolby Atmos activated
Boot up time seems longer, and it also uses roughly half your RAM or more to operate the OS.
I can't stand the charging noise, so I am most likey going to downgrade.
Also, when you close the lid on the screen while watching a movie, (it turns off) but it now will turn back on and play if you plug or unplug the charger while the lid is closed. REALLY annoying. And often embarrassing.
I wouldn't recommend the update. i just reset my Tablet back to 5.1.1 because it became so slow that it was unusable. Constantly freezing after the downgraded to 5.1.1 and it runs as smooth as the first day.
***SIDE NOTE***
When i upgraded to 7.0 i lost 5gh wifi networks. Since downgrading they are back just a little note.

I recently switched to OnePlus ( 7 pro specifically ) and out of all the phones I've used, XS max, note 10, S10 ECT it's by far the best phone I've used. Although 1 small problem is lately my phone has been feeling like it's getting slower and slower, more and more lags seems to be happening, and things are taking a lot longer to open. Is anyone else experiencing this, or have any ideas what I could do?

I have never experienced this. Best I could think of is to factory reset, start completely from scratch. Maybe root and try a custom kernel.

Yeah I've thought of that. I've only used 50% of my storage so I don't think that would be the case. My last resort was a factory reset and custom kernels/Roms ECT. I'll see what other ideas people have first then see how we go from there I think
Okay so I installed Beta 7 and it seems to be a bit better, still not as good as it was when I first purchased it though
Are you running android 10 or 9? I'm sticking with 9 because i had issues with 10 (so do many others) No signs of slowdown here. Ive played with a note 10 and it doesnt compare to the op7 pro in terms of performance.

I'm on 10, have thought about changing back to 9 but there's quite a few things I enjoy about 10, except the slowness.
Don't get me wrong when I first opened my 7 pro, my other devices including my S10 didn't even feel like they were in the same ball park, but now it just feels like it's getting sluggish.

I've had a couple of things freeze for about 20 seconds then it comes good again.
Just a thought, based on something I've experienced... Are you using Magisk Hide by chance? I've noticed that some apps (Google for instance) react poorly to being targeted by Magisk Manager.

I'm not rooted, just stock Android 10.
It would really help by giving more info on what exactly you mean by "sluggishness". Are you saying general app opening speed/ sluggishness when typing emails/ slow bootup speeds? Where really is the problem...for all you know it could be a placebo effect or btw have you checked the screen refresh rate...is it 90hz or 60hz? Being on 90hz for so long, any other phone to me looks sluggish...

The whole phone, everything I do, nothing is instant anymore. And yes it's on 90hz, I agree I used my S10 the other day and it looked terrible scrolling through stuff compared to 90hz
I second the OP. I have an OP 7 Pro, 12GB version. And after software updates etc, I have seen slowness on my phone. However, after root and running FDE.AI once, looks much better. I have no documentation to prove that actually is the case though, maybe a placebo effect.

Funny, I can't see such sluggishness on my OP7Pro. It will be a joke to see sluggishness on these phones given that the phone specs are nothing short of desktop-level specs. I would highly recommend factory resetting your device or better yet starting right from scratch i.e. doing a fastboot stock rom flash using the latest update. This should (hopefully) iron out your issues. I'd also suggest being a bit careful on the apps that you install and rather not restore from google backups. It's best to start afresh (at least once in a while)

I scaled mine down to 0 and my device is blazing fast now.

If you've used up 50% of your storage then of course the phone will be processing things slower than a phone that had nothing stored in it. That effect occurs with every device that has memory.

Well I've been at over 70% storage used for the past few months and have seen zero drop in performance. My pixel 2 xl is 80% storage used and it to performs as if it was bone stock. I have over 100 apps on my OP7 pro and haven't lost anything that I didn't have in terms of battery and performance. I swear I don't know what some people do with there phones but issues like these and battery usually come from poorly coded apps. You also can't download PornHub mobile and expect it not to come with consequence of some sort.

Kidding, but serious. I am not sure what's happening, maybe I have some app that's causing stupid issues I am not sure, I think I'm gonna factory reset and go from there I think.
Sooo. I have had this phone from T-Mobile for the past few weeks and have a few hot takes on it.
For starters I wanted to return it almost 2 days in after figuring out about the performance this device had. But was promised an update and 2 weeks later it was delivered.
So these hot takes are going to be after the update.
1. So far almost no stutter I've found has been fixed. Home stutter, app stutter all still here.
2. WE SHOULD HAVE TO OPTIMIZE SH*T ON A 1300 DEVICE. The fact that some answers you get here are "did you follow the optimaztion guide?" I shouldn't have to touch anything! Do you think the average consumer is gonna go through the hoops of 3 factory resets, a firmware flash, and praying to whatever God to get sub par performance?
3. The camera lag is rediculous.
I went to AEW (wrestling show) and couldn't even pull my camera up up fast enough to get any good shots!. And not to mention the shutter lag waiting for the image to capture! Also 4k60 recording in a timely manner? Laughable. I have never had this many issues with a Samsung device in the first few weeks as I've had with this one.
4. Signal drops consistently. (Doesn't really bother me because I use wifi calling)
5. Battery has gotten better since the update so no issues there.
6. Snapchat lag in camera ui.
7. Ram management is a joke. Even with ram plus.
8. Display is beautiful but dims to high heaven in gaming.
9. Abysmal update times compared to exynos.
10. Zoom is awesome.
I'm sure there are more but geesh.

Wonder if scoped storage is helping to screw it up? It uses extra cpu cycles not sure if it impacts ram usage though. I deliberately avoided Android 11 and 12 because of it... no regrets.

I think people need to accept that Android is essentially malware and was designed by a company to continuously extract as much information on you as possible behind the scenes. I would estimate at least 90% of all Android apps participate in this game to gain your info for profit. People wonder why phones are sluggish with all this activity happening in the background. This is the cost for all of us users to get an OS and application environment for free.
So the fact that each of us needs to fine tune, debloat, optimize, etc on any new phone to reign in the OS and apps to get acceptable performance is not something new. It really is a journey to research and get any phone working smoothly as each one of us has different use cases.
PS - my new S22 Ultra (SD/T-Mobile) is fast as lightning and I'm very happy with it.
This has been the worst new phone transition I've ever had. From trying to order to Samsung stretching the truth about the specs, to configuring every app from scratch. To multiple Factory Resets just to solve something buggy. To Google apps not performing the same.
I expected the major debloat and privacy settings. I did not expect T-Mo to install Facebook 4 times nor that it would take 6 phone calls to unlock a phone I paid for fully.
I am happy with the performance, screen, and the camera is beyond words. Hoping I am about done configuring and side loading. adb is your friend.
So far, the S22 Ultra feels like the Note20 Ultra with faster data speeds, better battery life, and slightly better camera. There is nothing earth shattering but overall seems a bit better. My only complaints are the weaker vibrate motor and lack of microSD card support.
I had a chance to test the S21 Ultra against the S22 Ultra and found the S21 Ultra to have slightly better speakers, stronger vibration motor, slightly better battery life and it's nice that it comes with up to 16 GB RAM. It's easier to hold as well, but the screen aspect ratio is less practical in many cases. It also gets warmer than the S22 Ultra.
For everything that improves with these iterative upgrades, there are a few steps back. If you're happy with your Note20 Ultra or S21 Ultra, I'd say there's no rush to upgrade unless you get an amazing deal.

Not seeing any of the lag with shutter you talking about. With or without the flash and 4k 60fps video recording works fine too even in the dark. As for the Ram+ I got mine set at 8gb and I can open and run 12 apps without any problem whatsoever. Never had any problems with T-Mobile signal. Maybe you should try a fresh install? I havent really had any issues since day one other than battery life sucks. I didn't do a fresh install either. I just used Samsung Smartwatch to setup the phone exactly like my S20U which I traded for the Unlocked 512gb using a prepaid T-Mobile plan so no T-mobile software or bloat on here.

Sorry. No. This ain't it cheif. People make the same argument for TVs (that if they were to make "dummy" TVs without Android it would be a $5K set... um $5K TVs exist and still have the spyware). The gaslighting by manufacturers is real.
Also 2~5K sets then did indeed exist, and for the sake of argument I'm not gonna talk inflation cause it really didn't change /that/ much aside from all mfr's getting greedy since covid. 2010's "smart" TVs didn't exist and the "smart" features were only on more expensive sets, as well as being more useless than today.
I paid for the hardware. But it's a "license to use" argument is the same bull that the pro-copyright NES crowd uses... sheesh

Something is wrong if you're getting bad battery life. It's because you didn't do a fresh install, try factory resetting and it'll be way better.

Factory reset guarantees nothing. Best to find the root cause to avoid a recurrence. Since each load is unique to the user, unique issues can and do evolve.
Use factory reset for: major upgrades, if you used SmartSwitch (don't make the same mistake twice), malware or if a buggy 3rd party app that altered hidden user settings you can't undo.

It's a last resort but if has to be done then that's what you gotta do. It's the endgame. If it don't work after that your screwed.

If you inadvertently add the app(s) or setting(s) that caused it, you just shot yourself in the foot, again.
Never use SmartSwitch if the first load went bad using it, do a clean load instead.
Tracking down the cause can be time consuming but it's a lesson learned and time saved in the future; a reload is very time consuming. I reserve it for primarily boot loops and persistent malware.
My current load has been saved from a factory reset a couple of times, still fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. It will be 2 yo this June.
Some those fixes seemed impossible at first but all were done within the confines of a stock Android without using adb edits, etc.

That's a good thing
It's completely unpredictable. I've used SmartSwitch without issues. I don't trust it at all though... I remember Kies
It may have screwed up the load on my newest N10+, still troubleshooting it. It developed a... lag No big deal.
Almost all issues can be resolved by simply "playing" with it, Adroids wuv attention.

Given the A53 is a "budget" device with low end hardware, the best you can really do is run a "clean" OS with as little bloat as possible. There isn't much that will make your device faster besides reducing what is running at any given time.

Thank you these usefull advise. i will try it asap and will feedback that what is the result.
This phone was definitely slower when I first got it. It took a few days of use for it to get adjusted. I also always replace the launcher with nova, keyboard with gboard, and messages with signal.
Then I use ADB to remove a couple of stupid packages. Like anything Facebook related any of the AR packages, apps that I don't use (why the hell does Samsung have two messaging apps on a phone stock?).
I came from the OnePlus 6t and I feel like this device is only a minor upgrade overall. In the end that's kind of all I was looking for because the 6t still ran great.
I do notice some poor responsiveness in the touch screen from time to time (although that seems to be getting better each day) and I definitely noticed a pretty big delay when I use voice to text. It definitely takes a second to fire up the mic which leads to it picking up where I'm talking mid sentence.
I may yank out more of the Samsung system apps as time goes on. For the moment I'm enjoying the Bixby routines because it's keeping me from needing to install Tasker. I recommend everyone try that at their own risk. Do some research first but there are a lot of system apps and processes that Samsung preloads in here that always run in the background sucking up precious RAM. I say try it at your own risk because if you uninstall the wrong applications you can mess your phone up pretty bad.
Also Facebook is a big resource hog. Even on an iPhone 13 it can stutter occasionally or even freezes specially in marketplace and makes the phone run hot. If you don't mind using the mobile version I would highly recommend using that instead the app.
I also think there is better devices for less mOney that even offer more but probably never get those 4 software updates. I agree 100% about facebook. I stopped using the app shortly after they first released it LOL. I find it much much easier to just use the mobile website.
I was looking at some Chinese devices as well before settling on this. One of the reasons I went with the a53 5G is compatibility with T-Mobile's 5G in my area. Also the software and support factored in. I was lucky enough to have my 6t for almost 4 years. That's the longest I've ever had a smartphone for and I really enjoyed being able to get that much lifespan out of a inexpensive device compared to the competition. The promise of support for this device led me to choose it even though it's only a mild upgrade from what I had before.

It is laggy because Samsung picked the weaker hardware for this phone (even though it sells for mid range price, there is no SD778 or Exynos 1080 or Dimensity 1200). As others said you could disable things and only use 60Hz screen. But if you haven't bought it yet you can buy the A52s which will be smoother.

Did removing these packages help performance? I am going back and forth about whether to return the phone or not (the camera is unusable at the moment - but hopefully that changes with software updates - I am yet to receive the April update). Thanks.

Removing packages helped free up some RAM. I'm definitely not experiencing the level of lag you're describing and the camera seems fine compared to my 6t.
This phone is half the price of most flagship devices. I'm not sure what your expectations are for such a device. Perhaps you should get a better device, or wait for the new oneplus Nord and see how it's performs.

I'm confused. I don't have Facebook on my A53 or ADB wasn't needed if it was originally (and not system app). Did you grab a carrier one? That would explain it to me. Not seeing lag on my unlocked A53.
If you grabbed an unlocked one then I don't know why you'd have lag unless it had a physical issue or you use something I don't use that causes it.

Enable developer options and disable all animations should fix this without the need for installing a 3rd party launcher or other software.

Hmmm, the camera takes about 1 to 2 seconds to take a photo, and sometimes doesn't take a photo at all and because of the lag I often miss the photo opportunity because I am waiting to see if it worked (daytime photos). The rest is manageable, but still laggier then my old S9+, I at least thought it would match that performance (I don't game, so only day to day use performance is important for me). Seems like my phone is unusually slow, maybe something went wrong when transferring over from s9+ and I should start fresh with a factory reset! Everything else about the phone is great, so I will persevere . A few software updates should hopefully smooth things out. Thanks for the help/suggestions.

If its only the camera from press to saved then the April update should mostly if not fully solve that. You have the April update yet or not?
For me it seems to be under a second after April update. Pre-April it was more like 3-5 seconds.
Not really something I would have cared that much about either way lol. Just have to get used to it.
I've had this phone almost a week now.. I have SwiftKey as my kb...
Can't say I've noticed any type of lag on this device... 120hz, dark mode background services running, wifi calling on you name it.

A53 is not a "Budget" device. It is mid level. Samsung's budget devices are the A1#, A2# and A3# phones.
I usually always laughed at my friend, because his iPhone 12 would make the music go choppy on the Bluetooth speakers whenever he went to the bathroom at the office only just next door, while my awesome OnePlus could play even if I was in another room in another floor, it didn't even matter how far away i was, the signal still went through and amazed us all.
But gosh darn it, after the android 12 update.. even if my phone is just in my pocket - if i point it away from the speakers, the music gets Choppy.. it's an obvious massive downgrade from the signal strength i had before and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this since updading?

Did you do a factory reset? This maybe needed.
Did you at least do a network reset?
Many Samsung users rolled back to 11 from 12 so it's not just OP devices.
Personally I refuse to go beyond Android 10 with 9 being my preferred OS. This has more to do with resource sucking scoped storage though. Anything from 9 up is relatively secure. 12 especially is too secure

I mean if it fixes it I guess I'll have to do it, but I'd hoped it was as a last resort. I haven't tried a network reset, I don't think I've ever even done that before, so I'll just look into how that's done first and try that out
A network reset sadly didn't work, on the bright side my speakers finally plays Christmas music the way its intended - not playing

One reason I don't upgrade especially if the current platform is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. Little to gain and a lot to lose.
A network reset is pretty painless just need to reinitalize the bt devices and wifi ones if you use them. I'll use it from time to time if having connection issues.
If you can clear the system cache on that device do so. That can fix a lot of bizarre behavior issues especially if you made major software or firmware changes. Many times a factory reset is the best option if you did a major OTA firmware upgrade. Last thing you want is a boot loop; take any sign of system instability seriously. Make sure all critical data is fully and redundantly backed up as it should always be.
Play with it. A rollback to 11 may be possible as well; not sure about that variant.
This has nothing to do with old files requiring a factory reset. Something has definitely changed in the firmware for OxygenOS 12. I now can't be more than 4 meters apart from my device without the audio getting choppy - it's crazy.

Of course I did. This has _nothing_ to do with storage or stale data. It's something they changed in the firmware when moving from Android 11 to 12.

Well a rollback is your only option then or wait until it's patched unless you can track it down. A lot of Samsung users rolled back from 12 to 11 because of issues.
This an example of one of reasons why I never update firmware that's fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. Zero trust in Gookill. They can and have screwed up good products in the past; it's their nature.
ARGH I've been using pixelexperience for months now since I posted this thread, but there were just so many small annoyances so I decided to come back to stock. I had briefly forgotten about all these friggen BT issues so I just installed the newest version again. ARGH XD
Yeah the BT thing is just really annoying.
Same here since Update to Android 12. The Bluetooth Range thing and den slower charging speed (tested with the Android app "Ampere") was very annoying.
None of the known solutions work. The only thing I could do now was go back to Android 11.
Back the Android 11 and bluetooth Range and charging speed ist fine again. Maybe a custom Rom like Lineage 20 or pixel experinece 13 works but in dont want to try, because the installation and the subsequent change back to stock is very time-consuming.
Did somebody test the Android 13 custom roms in view of the two problems??

I tried Pixel Experience 12 & 13 on my Nord.
It feels alright most of the time but there's the occasional annoyances. For instance :
- When rebooting my Nord, the system will ignore the current alert slider position (e.g. I'll shutdown my phone on "silent", move the slider to "ring" when the phone is off, and the phone will stay in "silent" when booting up while the slider is in the "ring" position.
- There's no clear visual feedback as to what mode you're in when moving the alert slider (e.g. the little bubble appearing momentarily on the right side of the screen)
- The camera feels janky for some reason. I did not research this area further unfortunately.
- Sometimes, my Nord will not be able to transfer files to my computer, unless I enable "USB Debugging", which is awful.
I did not notice any unusual behavior regarding charging, but those issues are what you get when only one or two people are working on supporting your device rather than its manufacturer.

I feel like it's a mix between OOS 11 and 12. It's not as bad; but still not great. I don't have any detailed test results, sorry.
Though keep in mind that I'm talking from memory as I had rolled back to OOS 11.
OK, np... I'll stay at Android 11. I dont understand why oneplus dont fixed that Problem. In the oneplus Community Forum many Users Report that Problem..
It feels Like "you are unhappy with your Phone, buy a new one"....
Next Phone no more oneplus.
