Hello,
My galaxy s22 ultra keeps turning off the screen after preset time even if I'm looking at it. I have the setting to keep the screen on while viewing enabled but it keeps shutting off. This happens in all apps except when I view videos. Any ideas?
Try disabling all power management in Device Care. Clear system cache.
Disabled adaptive battery setting, wipes cache by holding volume up and power button. Still does the same thing

Any new apps installed or any recently uninstalled?
No, it hasn't worked since the phone was new
If within the return window do so.
Maybe a hardware failure.
Somehow the greenify app was causing the problem. Once I uninstalled it, it all works

Yeah don't use that...
Deal with power hogs on a case by case basis.
Android manages itself quit well without any power management once optimized.

Man, I love that app. Been using it since it came out on all my android devices
Since the s20 the feature hasn't worked for me....Same on s22u....not sure if the sensors don't pick my face up correctly due to lighting in my rooms, but it doesn't bother me that much

Worked for me. Galaxy S21 Ultra. Owned this for a while with that not working and it was the auto optimize setting in service care hindering it. Thank you.

I like Device Care especially the older version with 360° (firewall blocked), it's just the global power management settings I don't use.

Funning how some things stay the same, unfortunately. The whole app bucket power management thing is a Google Android concept apparently. The worst part is the erratic behavior it can cause especially with bluetooth.

Hi, I have a galaxy s6 and its back button is pressing itself, without me touching it, closing apps and making it unusable. Using warranty isnt an option as it was bought abroad.
What are my options? Is this necessarily a hardware problem or could it be software related?

I had similar then found that the animations (in developer) were set to 0.25, reset them to 1, used rebooted a few times and now its OK. Could be coincidence but tried reboot, clearing cache etc before the Animation setting?? Weird but may be worth trying.

my phone is already set to animation 1s
I change launcher and now the problem seems to be less frequent (I install nova at the place of next launcher)
I think that the problem maybe depend by some app not perfectly compatible with lollipop 5.1.1.
I had this problem on my S6 and when I googled it, it seemed to be a recurring issue on Samsung phones. Poor insulation causes the radio to leak into and trigger the captive buttons in weak signal areas. What eventually fixed it for me was replacing my tempered glass screen protector with another one, as non-unrelated as it sounds.

Mine never made that, even in poor/nonexistent areas... I believe that has massively to do with the production quality of every particular product. Some of them might be a little bit better fabricated than others.
I had this problem. Luckily I was on warranty and just switched it out. I would try factory reset tbh, that's the only thing I didn't try
When using an app or a game the screen brightness suddenly changing as if I had auto brightness on but it isn't, always seems to go dimmer and sometimes goes to dim and light in quick succession. Is there something in the settings that I need to change?
Samsung S7 I am using.
Same
I have this problem as well, my screen gets brighter some moments.
I notice the colors on the screen become lighter, after a few moments it wil change back to normal.
I don't know what's causing it.
me as well
Yea me too, seams to do it when ever it want not in the app or program.
I'm having the same issue on my S7. Pretty annoying.
Edit: Found a solution here: reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/4a5kkv/when_i_open_certain_games_the_screen_dims_but_the/d0y94nq

That does fix it but you don't need to install package disabler pro.
Go to Settings/Applications/Application Manager/More (upper right)/Show System Apps/ then scroll down to "GameService" and disable
I had tried Disabling Auto Brightness, turning off Adaptive Display and Power Saving but turning off GameService finally worked.
thanks
hey thanks alot. i appreciate it. now if i could just get this thing to cool off. thats the mosst disappointing thing about the s7 other than the screen triping out every once in a while, oh and the lag issue, and that they took out the ir function although i much rather have the expandable memory & Micro sd slot, the lack of volume is a disappointment, and the fact that i still haven't received the vr free gift package that t-mobile promised even tho i pre-ordered on the feb. 23 and got the phone like a week later. did i mention how hot this dam thing gets? my s6 got hot a little bit but this is horrible. kinda makes me want my s6 back.

It shouldn't be getting hotter than your s6. Granted it should get slightly warm, but my biggest issue with s6 edge was it would get scorching hot to the point it was uncomfortable. This phone never gets that hot for me. So keep an eye on that, or hand?

Been running into this with my relatively new S7 Edge and the Package Disabler Pro approach with gameservice seems to have done the trick for me, too. Thanks!
This is happening on crazy spammy's note 10 + as well
Got it root'd up but don't see game service when searching for it in titiamum backup
I recently got the same issue on my S10. And couldn't find the game service too. Have you found any solution for this issue?
This has happened four times. I close the cover, set it down, and pick it up a few hours later. It's off. Turns on, doesn't overheat, battery lasts a decent amount of time. It's not draining dead, just shutting off for no reason.
I checked the Performance/Power section in the system settings, and it's set to NEVER auto shutdown, yet it's doing it still. And the lowest you can set it to is six hours, but it's turned off in half that. What is its deal?
Same here. It doesn't seem to happen while charging and it only occurs while the tablet is closed. So far, disabling daydream (screen saver) seems to have suppressed it even though the screen saver is not active. Mine is LTE also.

Nah, it's a brand new Samsung Evo card. Everything was working fine until I updated to 4.4. Now this, and also Settings crashes if I try to edit my user photo.
Updates, huh. Usually they demand a factory reset to work properly. Funny thing, the devs never foretell you.
I also have a Samsung Evo+ card. Does the job.

Well, it wasn't a major update. Still 6.0.1 to 6.0.1, just a security patch update, which they are way behind on.
Security patch update.. yeah, so that they can spy better. As said, OS updates are usually bad for they are done for factory reset devices, which no one has.

I had the same Bluetooth connection issues with the s20 ultra same 5g issues an poor picture quality.
That would be nice if it was just a lemon. I'm going to spend the day tomorrow with t-mobile.

They want me to drive 40 miles to pick a new one up.

I feel you. Samsung support sucks; it's not your imagination.
I have a 10+ and have been eyeballing the 20U as an upgrade. There do appear to be display issues on some of these phones.
As for bt, try a network reset; it's relatively painless and may help.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu.
Double check all settings.
Turn off all power management except the power mode; set to optimize.
In Developer options>standby apps, if all buckets show as active, power management is disable. See if Android will manage them better with no assigned buckets.
Look for apps using up bandwidth/battery, cloud apps including Google Transport are prime offenders.
Disable Samsung, carrier and Google feedback.
Consider adding a package disabler like PD MDM the shutdown the bloatware.
See if that helps... play with it.

That doesn't help.
Depending on the carrier firmware the same model can behave much different.
Took me close to 6 months to dial in my AT&T 10+, it was a handful. Running hot, chewing up the battery.
Today, a year latter, it's a totally different animal; fast, stable with good battery life and no glitches.
These phones are complex with a lot of settings plus added carrier and 3rd party apks not to mention the Samsung apks. No configuration is the same.
If you don't play with them you'll never get it optimized and you'll just be along for the ride... wherever it goes.

You're welcome.
A hard reboot (simulating pulling the battery) may get it too if you haven't try it. Again clearing the system cache can cure many gremlins like magic, easy to do and worth trying.
Another possibility is the phone was infected with a virus or trojan, this is very unlikely though unless you inadvertently downloaded or loaded it.
Scan it with Malwarebytes and Trojan Scanner.
If in doubt reload.
Normally reloads aren't a solution unless it's an old load or if compromised by a virus.
If you reload check the system before you load anything except from Playstore; assume the SD card or computer backups could be compromised as well.
If you reload avoid doing any updates at first as one of these could be causing the erratic behavior.
If you did a firmware update this could be the cause; clearing the system cache may fix it but a reload is better. I disable autoupdates especially from the carrier for this reason among others.
More than likely you get it sorted out or at worst return for repairs.
Reload it though before you return it. Fixable software/settings issues* are common on these phones.
Lol, Androids wuv to be played with... good luck
*if you have a clean load it's always preferable to find the cause of the malfunction rather than reloading as the same issue may well happen again from the same apk or incorrect setting(s).

Honestly, I would have it exchanged if you are having that many problems with it, sounds like you may have a defective unit, it happens, could be something as simple as a faulty motherboard causing all those issues that a quick exchange would solve

Could be a bad mobo but it's easier to reload then to exchange it and then have the exact same issues.
Happened to me with the 10+, bt audio was horrible.
Return it and at first it was running normally then boom the exact same thing. I knew it was software but I didn't manually toggle it!
Samsung tech zero help, same-same with AT&T tech support.
The problem goes back at least as far as the N9 and that's where I found the solution.
It was a glitch in the advanced audio settings that sometimes toggles on by it's self probably due to a glitch in Wearables.
Samsung finally fixed it about a half year about with a Wearables update. It took them over 2 years.
If you knew about it, it was easy to simply untoggled it occasionally, if not it was an audio nightmare.
The only other way to reset it was a pointless reload.
I like the shotgun get it done approach but you can needlessly spend time without a solution if you don't first try to verify if it's hardware, bad flash or an issue that's pure software.
Out of the box this AT&T 10+ was a puking, bandwidth/battery eating, hot running mess besides the bt glitch.
Today with the same OS version and a lot of optimizing it's stable, fast, gorgeous looking platform with good battery life.
It wasn't even close to this out of the box...
If you don't take the time to play with these phones you'll miss the functionality they're capable of and put up will a lot of unpleasant experiences needlessly.
A misbehaving Android is an opportunity to learn new tricks. Just dive in... and see where it takes you.

Android color calibration (ie no calibration) sucks.
When will they get the message?
After 5+ years you would think they would know better?
I could calibrate my color throughput/monitor on Windows 15 years ago...
Make sure Bixby Vision and Bixby Vision Framework are not disabled; needed by the cam, the rest of Bixby can be disabled.
Check cam settings and manually set the AF lock point if you aren't. Try a data reset on the app and clear the system cache. Could be hardware but more likely user, settings, software or firmware related.
My browser will lock up if too many windows are open (52 open now) or if the browser cache gets too large or corrupted. Might the browser; my primary one is Brave. The Samsung browser handles about 15 or so open windows.
I chased down dozens of issues on my 10+ to get it where it is today over mostly a 6 month period.
I'm careful about all updates and new apps as these can cause havoc especially the former.
Still running on Pie because it's fast, stable, secure enough for my setup and everything is now running well.
Constantly upgrading is time consuming at best and the outcome not always an improvement. I use the factory load for a bunch of apks still... with good results.

You don't need Bixby Vision and Bixby Vision Framework enabled for the camera to work.
So I've got a Note 20 ultra that I freaking love. I got the Pixel 6 pro as well and between the two of them I finally have settled my urge for vanilla, Android and everything. The Note 20 stood for. The problem, randomly. I was just out in the yard working. I went to check my notifications in my screen was black. Assuming the digitizer went because the device is still connected to some Bluetooth things.
I thought I saw $450 for a replacement, doesn't seem worth it considering I already have the pixel, what are my real options? What would you guys do? I freaking love the phone and have a million accessories for it.
Try a hard reboot.

Yay! It's a cheap trick, but great when it works.
If it continues to happen though it indicates a underlying firmware or hardware issue.
Also clear system cache, it's on the boot menu.

No need to do factory resets unless there's malware you can't delete or a 3rd app screws hidden user settings, or a major firmware upgrade.
This N10+ in my hand OS load will be 2 yo this June and is still stable and snappy fast with minimal maintenance. Still running on Pie.
I clear the system every month or so, and clean with SD Maid every month or so. Repair any damages made by misadventure or updates. That's it; stock Android's can be a very robust and stable platform.
