Question USB Cable For Android Auto & Fast Charge - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Could you please suggest me a Type A to Type C USB cable that can charge the phone while running android auto?
The cable I use now is the same I've been using for years with the Pixel 4 XL and it would charge the phone properly while running android auto while the same cable with the Z Flip 3 it charges the phone very slowly.

The problem may not be the cable. The Z Flip 3 downgraded the charging and data transfer on the USB port to what they used in 2017. It only accepts the old 15W "fast" charge, which translates to slower wireless and trickle charge capabilities. The Pixel 4a is from 2020, so likely already as fast as it gets.

After doing some research and reading hundreds of reviews I've just ordered this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WJSPB5A?linkCode=gs2&tag=xdadevelopers-21&th=1
this one came a close second:

If I use a different cable, it will charge as fast as the Pixel instead Android Auto won't work. That's why I think it is cable related.
@beanbean50 I think I'll buy the Anker.

Just received my cable (Belkin) and wow what a day and night difference. It's now charging at 15w instead of a measly 5w (through the PC) and can now transfer files in a fraction of the time it used to take. The cable is twice as thick as a standard cable but that's a non-issue for me.
Sounds like your old cable was only charging at 5w which isn't enough to charge and use at the same time, so you should be well pleased when your new Anker cable arrives.

I bought the Anker PowerLine II USB C to USB 3.1 and solved the problem. Now it charges pretty fast while being able to use Android Auto.

REVIEW RAVPower 2.1A Dual Port USB Wall Charger

http://www.amazon.com/RAVPower®-Cha...+5.0V+2.1A+for+iPad,iPhone,Smart+Phone(White)
just bought one for only $9.50 and its really nice to have because of the duel usb ports, i travel alot so it really comes in handy when charging my phone and camera at same time plus it can also charge my nexus 10 fast if only using 1 port. 1 Ampere max. port for Mobile phones. (Share 2A when both ports in use) and i also like the fact that it's wall outlet prongs retract into the unit itself for added safety. and for more safety when charging its has over-heated, over-current, over-charging protection.plug it into the wall and charge just about any mobile device from 5,Iphone 4/4S,Ipod Touch,Kindle Fire,iPad Mini, The New iPad, iPad 2; Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, Note 2, Note n7000;Kindle Touch to even blackberry. lol

Cable and charger comparison: Samsung, Asus, Blackberry, Monoprice, Anker, PowerGen

I thought I would like to share with others my findings about the USB cable issues and the charging issues also reviewing few products.
I know that it would probably be best with some real table lab equipment but I have tested it with a usb multimeter device : PortaPow USB Power Monitor / Multimeter / DC Ammeter
Showing me Amps and volts.
It is true what is said that the device can detect to a degree the charger
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53917336
So I used combo of software and hardware testing. I also tested with a S3 and S4 rooted (custom roms), and nexus 7 2013 (unique to this charger that it specs the 5v at 5.2! @ 1.35A and it does push more, to other devise as well)
Not all cables are equal; even not all OEM will work past 1A. It seems that most OEM’s cheat by using a shorter micro USB cable to get better charging results, this is the question many ask why so short cables, the OEM’s are only now slowly moving to thicker power wires IE 28/24 in there OEM usb cables.
Now my findings about the PortaPow USB Power monitor and any of the kind, is that it seems to effect the charging Amps of the device and also effect any smart chargers (will talk about below)
In the past I used to use exclusively the “Battery Monitor Widget” by 3c, lately I went and got also “Galaxy Charging Current Lite” for whatever reason my S3 shows as incompatible? Thought it should work on it, my S4 installed and shows max and reference/average
Test 1: S3 Genuine 100% OEM cable (I know because I bought the S3 new @ t-mobile)
Test 2: Claimed Genuine Samsung Micro USB cable 5 feet ECC1DU6BBE
Test 3: Nexus 7 2013 usb cable (is claimed to be a 28/24 AWG)
I was skeptical about the Claimed Genuine cable, and though it looks and feels just like the real thing, it varies in the logo and length. Performance wise has shown consistently of a 0.1-0.15A lower than the Genuine Samsung cable that I have from S3. This was done with the USB power monitor and with the Galaxy Charging Current Lite app, it even said 860mAh vs 760mAh when I tested the cables, but genuine cable did push up more power and the software was wrong as I have seen over 1.13A with USB Power monitor, but as said the real Genuine cable was better.
The Nexus 7 2013 micro USB cable that is short, performed the best, gave the max Amps out of all the cables. I will test my Monoprice 28/24 cables and update this thread.
Quick tests of chargers:
Car charger form Amazon,
PowerGen White Dual USB 4.2A (20W) Car charger Designed for Apple and Android Devices
I quickly tested to see if this thing will push past 1A and it did at the time I was testing with nexus 7 and its cable with the usb power meter, and It was pulling around 1.13A
Next up single wall charger, I saw this and had to buy!
Blackberry Folding Blade Charger for Playbook rated at 5v @ 1.8A! priced under $5!!!
I tested this one with the software on my S4, it quickly showed after few min pulling 1.4A and Galaxy charger showed maxed out 1900 on all!
I think this one wins for the cheapest and sturdy charger, just shy of 2A!, will become my work charger, the cable is nice and thick along with pretty good length 6ft+!
Next up I had to get me a family charger (4-5 port)
I get tired of short cables on wall chargers, so I went and got
Anker® 40W USB Desktop Charger
This charger claims a total of 40w for 5 ports! With intelligent device detection PowerIQ.
This charger so far (1 day use) has been great, I connected the S3 and the power meter showed 1A, I connected the S4 with the meter and was only getting 1.13-1.3A, the software did not show max, so here is the issue seems the usb monitor will cause the charger to not read the devices to there 100%, after taking it out and connecting it directly the galaxy charger showed maxed 1900mAh
The USB cable used was the nexus 7 one.
What I love about this charger, no lights! Perfect for me for overnight charging, also has standard power cord, the unit itself is quite compact too, now I can have short usb cables 1.5ft or 3ft ones and not worry about reach, as the charger can stay next to your devices, simply use conventional power cable extender on the charger unit, not on your usb devices!
I will conclude that it seems now since we are pushing past the usb spec for charging, that the shortest cable is best, be it 28 awg or 24 awg, and of course OEM’s already knew that, I am pretty sure that the OEMs are switching to 28/24 awg cables

if people are interested, I can designate some time and take few pics of the monoprice cables, and show why they fail, its obvious but need a good pic to show the reason, maybe we can find a way to fix them?
the cables are great, the connectors look great at first but are not so great
I just ordered the Anker 40W USB Desktop Charger on Amazon with same day shipping for $5.99. Thanks for your review!

the USB cable is as important as the plug. I use an ANKER 4-port plug with a factory S4 cable. It runs at 1900, same as if I used the factory S4 plug. I ran a whole experiment too. I had a USB cable IDENTICAL to my S$ cable, and it only charged at 320 with the same ANKER or S4 plugs. My S4 has a popup telling me to use a better charger

Perhaps the best new car charger?

I just stumbled upon this when looking for a new car charger that would keep USB C for my 6P, and the new Nexus in case it also doesn't support QC, but wanted QC support as well for USB A since I just bought an expensive Anker Power line+ USB A to C cable (they don't offer C to C). But, I wanted 2 USB A ports, not just 1.
Lo and behold, the only car charger of its kind! This puppy has 2x USB A QC 3.0 ports & 1x USB C with QC 3.0 as well.
I will have it Saturday and test it out for both my Note7 and 6P. Their other products have pretty good reviews. I guess the customer service may suck if the product fails according to some reviews, but it seems like a low failure rate, and with Prime I'm not too worried.

Sadly our note 7 is only quick charge 2.0 capable. I just use a type C adapter on my existing Aukey quick charge 2.0 car charger. Much cheaper route and won't have to get rid of my other chargers and micro USB cables.

USB Type C to Type C Quick Charge

I upgraded to LG V30 from Nexus 6P. Skipped the Pixel and Pixel 2 series...
I have a large supply of USB Type C to Type C cables that rapidly charged my Nexus 6P....they will not fast charge the V30 though.
My Type A to C cables will not fast charge it either with anything but the stock LG charger.
I tried the "AUKEY Amp USB Charger with 60W Dual USB C & 4 USB Ports for LG G5, HTC 10, Nexus 5X / 6P and More" from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EXWXVWO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That is supposed to support Quick Charge from both the Type A ports and Type C ports but LG V30 would not say fast charging with any of the ports or cables I used.
Is anyone having any luck with 3rd party Quick Chargers? I wireless charge at night with a dock and in my car but I like to have quick chargers spread around the house for when I need to charge up fast before running out of the house.
I'd prefer Type C ports so I can use all of my Type C to Type C cables...but I'll take anything that works. Looking for multi-port options like the Aukey above so my family can charge their devices too at the same time.
Any suggestions?

Thanks....really looking for one that has USB Type C ports...I have like a dozen of those cables now (type C on both ends)...all a different color than the USB Type A to Micro USB cables that all the other phones in my house use...makes it easy to grab the right cable among the bunch of them...
Are you getting super slow charge, like 4 hrs reported or just not quite as fast?
I have the Nexus 5x and that charger charhes my V30 close to the OEM QC3 charger, just slightly slower.
I did have some issues with a desktop USB-C PCI card triggering a file transfer mode, which gave it that 4 hr slow charge estimate. I had to reset it in developer options and reboot (even though it already was set to "charge only"). Something buggy going on.

I think it may be charging close to stock charger with my Nexus 6P compatible chargers and Type C cables....but my battery lasts so long and I wireless charge at night...so have not done real test where the battery was close to zero yet.
Was hoping for the phone to confirm it is in fast charge mode...but if it still charges fast that is good enough...we'll see...
I have the same issue. chargers and cables that work with my Nexus 6P do not necessarily charge the V30. seems the USB A to USB C cables don't work as they do for the 6P.

I had something similar with the htc 10. Charger and cable both from aukey together would not work but same components paired with any other worked.
The fastest possible type C charging is Power Delivery (PD)
19V vs 9V (QC 2.0)
should we all email LG to let the know the V30 is very picky with QC3.0 chargers? maybe they can resolve this in a future update?
My V30, V20, and G5 all exhibit the same behavior when using USB-PD: 5V 2A or 9V 1.67A peak. So if you want the fastest possible charging you need a charger that supports 9V. The 5V 3A chargers wont cut it.

This has worked great on my v30. Charged it from 25% to 95% in about 40min. Only thing I don't like is that it has no light to tell if it's connected good in the plug

The fastest possible type c charging is the fastest charging standard both your phone and charger support. My zte Max xl will only charge at 5v 1.5a from a usb-pd charger, but it will charge at 9v 1.15a with a qc 2.0 charger.

I've discovered something interesting about the V30 and PD. The V30 accepts 12V via PD but not via QC3.0. Up until now all of my PD chargers have been 5, 9, and 15V but I recently got a power bank that outputs 5, 9, and 12v. I've never seen a phone accept 12v before.

I have a 12v c-c power delivery charger and it still won't fast charge my phone. When I plugged it into the a to c yesterday it said fast charging 1h 10m remaining to full and when I use the c to c it says charging 1h 20m remaining. It's not much slow but it is and it makes no sense because usb c is the fastest possible way to charge something over USB.
Why would they make this phone use USB c if they aren't even taking advantage of it? My 6p had a bigger battery that charged faster than this phone because they actually utilize the USB c.

What is up with the Turbopower charging?

So the data port on my Moto G3 is failing (loose), so I ordered a replacement part and figured I would keep it as a backup phone and move on to the Moto G6 as my main phone. I need a multi-port wall and car charger as mine are very old (As in single 5V voltage at 1 amp per port max) and figured that would be easy, just pick them up on Amazon.............NOT. I spent an entire day trying to figure out what was compatible with the phone (voltages, currents, wattages, fast charging technology) and as far as I can tell there is nothing out there. This is not just Motorola, as other manufacturers have their own standards. This really needs to be standardized.
I then contacted Anker. I mean come on, they have got to know right?. Here was their reply yesterday:
"But so sorry that the Moto G6 uses the exclusive turbo charge technology, we cannot guarantee 100% that our QC charger (Moto Turbo-charging is a quick charge technology based on QC) could charge the device fastly. "
It is bad enough every time I buy a new phone everything changes and I have to buy new chargers, cases, cables, sim cards, SD cards, etc. I am not saying that is a bad thing, as these technology changes usually mean improvements in speed, usability, reliability, etc. I just don't want to buy all this new stuff and have chargers that won't work with other devices I might buy shortly or be obsolete in months instead of years.
I guess I have to hold off until all of this stabilizes and standardizes. Thanks to Lineage my obsolete Moto G3 (According to Motorola) still runs great and has the latest security updates. My only concern is that the battery will be the next to go.
Every USB C charger I have plugged into my G6 has been compatible with turbopower charging... have used 3, one that came with it, my nexus 5X charger, and a cheap charging dock I got on amazon...
Could someone tell me what the model # and output electrical values are (Volts / Amps / Watts) that are written on the stock charger for the Moto G6. Motorola sells two different wall chargers with different specs. The output values should be specified as V / A/ W for 5V, 9V, and 12V.

The charger I have for my G6 is either model SC-22 or SPN5993A (it's hard for me to tell next to all of this Chinese writing). The output is either 5V, 9V, or 12V.
Thanks. I was considering getting the on sale Moto G6 64 bit version today as it was only $259, but it is only available in the Indigo color. I will wait until the regular price lowers and the whole charging thing gets resolved. I ordered a part to fix my Moto G3 in the meantime. I also have a Nexus 4 as a backup phone so i am good to go for a while.
I can check tomorrow to be sure, but I think it uses the 5V 3A charging standard. I have a USB meeter that I can plug into the charger at work and see what it does. I don't think it does the 9V or 12V fast charge.
You simply need a QC 2.0 or 3.0 charger. Easy day. Both will turbo charge the Motorola. Ive used dozens of different brands on a few different Motorolas and they all turbo charge.

Thanks. I will get QC 3.0 chargers, unless if and when I decide to buy the phone, QC 4.0+ chargers are released and work with the Moto G6. I am probably going to wait for a non-Amazon 64GB RAM model to be released.

Especially if you are interested in unlocking the bootloader.
I too, just recently found that a 4/64 version of the regular G6 is available, but have only found the Amazon Prime version. I contacted Motorola and asked why this version is not available on their web site. So waiting to hear back.
32GB internal storage is just not enough, especially in the case of the X4, with the OS taking up 13GB.

Yes , unlocking the bootloader is the main issue. Also, Lenovo is terrible with OS and security updates, both not timely and eventually not supporting the phone all together, so I would need the capability to install a ROM eventually, like what I did with my Moto G3.
Anker PowerCore+ 26800 with Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 (version that includes PowerPort+ 1 wall charger) QC 3.0 port (blue one on the right) charges Moto G6 in TurboPower charging mode, also the charger that comes with it works same way, both charge phone very quickly. Just like charger that came with the phone.
Using Anker USB C 3.0 braided and PVC cables.
I'm guessing any Qualcomm QC 3.0 -type charger will run in TurboPower mode with this phone.
I can't verify quick charge but I can verify that any phone charger supporting power delivery (type c "standard" for charging fast and not proprietary like quick charge) will definitely activate turbocharging.
Edit... After scouring the internet for a few minutes I'd just stick with power delivery chargers as it seems that quick charge chargers (qualcomms proprietary fast charging method) is a mixed bag of results as the G6 doesn't officially support quick charge while if you purchase a power delivery charger it'll just work.
We have the Moto G6, Nexus 6P (Huawei) and Moto Nexus 6 - the OEM Moto charger with the OEM cable obviously enabled the Turbo charging mode, the same charger does fast charging on the Nexus 6P as well as the old Nexus 6. Traded into Google my old Nexus 5X but kept the OEM USB-C fast charger, which works with all these 3 smartphones, I can't recall at the moment whether it's Turbo and/or Fast charging mode, as I left that at home and we are traveling on the road this weekend.
What I've noticed is that, sometimes, it will depend on the specific USB-C cable that I am using and/or possibly using one of the "certified" USB-C adapter plug (with the resistor) and an OEM/quality micro-USB charging cable with all the pins wired correctly.
On the road, I've been using an Anker 4-usb port charger that put out 2.4 amp per port at 5V (up to a max of 7.2 amp ... average of 1.8 amp) and it does charging these 3 devices fast, maybe not "turbo" mode. The speed is more than good and quick enough, won't take overnight hours to bring it up to 100%.
Moto G6 is stock OEM rom whereas N6P and Nexus 6 are custom roms.
the moto g6 play also support turbocharge it just doesnt come with the turbocharger block. i used my cousins block from his z2 force and everytime i connect it the phone says "turbo power connected" the moto g6 play is also not usb-c. the block that came with the phone only does as the phone says "rapidly charging" so yea its kinda weird lol

Thanks. I'm actually considering grabbing a g6 play as a backup/work phone. I have a g6 with the turbocharger block. I'll probably have to grab a block once I test the g6 play... I bought that phone for my dad and he loves it... unlocked, of course.
It works with standard PD (5V, 9V) charger when I making a reply
Just to reaffirm, it works with a Power Delivery (PD) charger. QC is not the supported charging standard on the G6. So buy a charger that uses the PD standard.

I have both these charger blocks and those Anker cables. I don't have exact numbers but I know they charge my G6+ and my girlfriends X4 very fast and my G6+ says Turbo Power when connecting the charger.
Doesn't look like I already commented, but the Moto G6 uses the 5V 3A fast charge method, went to about 2.3A at most, it doesn't go to the 9v. I used a USB C amp meter that also shows voltage and is capable of fast charging. I know this works because it activates the Power delivery for my Chromebook with USB C and goes to 15V.
In general, there's two considerations here.
1.) Turbocharge is a fork of the QuickCharge specification. Anything rated for QuickCharge should work with it to some extent.
2.) the USB signalling is important. since the G6 uses a type C connector and specification, it is not technically always using the same signaling wires as USB 2.0, 3.0 type A (the big flat connector we all know and love)
So, if you're wanting to make sure everything works as it should, and is as broadly compatible as possible, make sure that the charger you are using is rated as at least Quickcharge 3.0, and that the cable you're using is certified for USB 3.1 (or 3.1 gen 2 as it is confusingly called) a lot of the USB-A to USB-c cables you'll find out there are actually usb 3.0 (also called USB 3.1 gen 1, ugh this naming convention), or even USB 2.0, cables with a type C connector slapped on them if you're getting some cheap chinese junk off amazon or ebay. Also remember that USB 3.1 cables are length sensetive, and should not be over 2 meteres (about 6 ft) long unless you are using what is called an 'active cable.' These have microchips in their connectors and are generally more expensive.
